Hi dreamy - have you had an epidural before? Just thinking if baby is high and there's a liklihood of section maybe it would be worth thinking about so you can be assured of being awake when s/he arrives - induced labours are more painful going from my own and other people's stories.

After I'd posted this morning I went to loo (TMI ALERT!) and had a small amount of clear mucus with thin streak of blood - could it be a 'part' show? - I didn't have one at all last time.

Mabel - sorry you're still here too soon hopefully!

dreamydowler · 12/09/2006 12:37

yes it does sound very like a show to me although there could still be more to come I dont normally use any pain relief but have an open mind and certainly would prefer to be awake for baby

mabel1973 · 12/09/2006 12:43

Dreamy - sorry how could I have forgotten that it was your 7th! Have you had straightforward births previously where you'd gone in to labour naturally?
I just assumed that I would this time, I really was hoping for a water birth so the thought of being induced is worrying me.
Liquid - that is exactly what I've had this morning. My show with DS was (tmi alert!) a lump of clear jelly with a few steaks of blood, not mucus like at all.

Coriander73 · 12/09/2006 12:53

ooooh..sounds like a show Liquid!

Isn't someone having a section today? Trying to read back, but so many posts...

JayJep · 12/09/2006 13:09

Hi to everyone that is left!!

Well my baby is due tomorrow. I have put on 3 stone in total, not as much as I did with ds2! I put on a whopping 5.5 stone then!!

I saw my consultant this morning, have an induction booked for next Thurs 21st - hope that I pop before then. Feeling quite sick and unsteady on my feet today.

Dreamy ......... bby no 7.... wow!!

redz · 12/09/2006 13:57

Hi All,

No leaky boobs here either, They dont seem to have grown any bigger and considering im due monday thought they would have.

As for the weight gain think I beat you all gaining a whopping over 4stone!!! can you believe it OVER 4 STONE! Im not weighing myself anymore too depressing I just pray it comes off my feet and knees dont look like they belong to me.
As for the waiting think it would be easier if I wasnt getting phone calls everyday asking has lo arrived yet? for the 100th time NO!

Tassis- even though your due after me I bet you lo comes before mine Got a feeling im still gonna be pg in october better joing that thread!!

clairemow · 12/09/2006 14:24

Marls, my doc also told me when we started again, it would be painful because of all the stitches. oh dear.

No more babies, but lots of showing going on..!!

Hope it all gets moving for you overdue ladies v. soon... labour vibes coming your way...

homemama · 12/09/2006 14:34

No, no, no Liquid! You are not allowed to go this early! We can't have queue jumping! (That's line jumping for you, Marls!)
Oh, didn't you say your DH is away today? Just typical! Hope nothing else happens until he's home.

Mabel sorry you're still here! You too Calvemjoe and anyone else overdue or close.

I had an obvious show last time. Is it possible not to have one then? Where does the plug go? So you mean I could start without a show?

Does anyone know if I have less chance of going over this time as I didn't last time? Or is it completely random. Thanks

clairemow · 12/09/2006 14:37

hi Homemama,

You can go into labour without a show - I only had a show with DS1 while I was in the hospital, already dilating...

My consultant said to me that because DS1 was 10 days early, it was likely that DS2 would be on time or early and that labour would be spontaneous - in the end he was 3 days early. But there's no science to it that we understand unfortunately - my neighbour was 10 days early with one and 2 weeks late with the second... But fingers crossed for you...

Myrtle1 · 12/09/2006 15:01

Liquid - I agree with homemama, no queue jumping! I've only got 2 people due after me and I'm counting on not being the last to go! I do hope you're ok though and nothing starts til your DH is back.
I haven't had any pains, twinges or a show and most people on here seem to have had some signs leading upto the birth. Did you all get signs beforehand with first babies or do you think it is more common with second and third babies? I hope there isn't too long to go. Whats more, is that LO seems to have changed position again and now I can feel a big lump on right side of belly which I think is the spine and a smaller lump on left side a little bit lower down so I'm worried its lying transverse.

mabel1973 · 12/09/2006 15:01

liquid - just checked your due date - no you are definately NOT allowed to go this early - very unsporting of you if you do!
Homemama - midwife said to me that you don't always have a show, so in theory if you don't have a show or waters breaking you could give birth without leaking any bodily fluids - how nice!

mabel1973 · 12/09/2006 15:05

Myrtle - I wouldn't worry if you've not had any signs, I've only really had twinges since my due date. With DS I had nothing at all until my 2nd sweep which was 9 days after my due date and then I just promtly went in to labour.
I also wouldn't worry about the baby lying transverse - you still have plenty of time for it to move. Mine was lying transverse til quite recently, but he is head down and ready to go now (although not quite ready enough it would seem!)

redz · 12/09/2006 15:20

Thought id add myself to the list

mimpim · 12/09/2006 15:27

I realised that I was not on the list for who is expecting when, so I thought I would just add my details. 6 days to go, I can't wait any more!
Golly I am so of all those who have had their babies, but also really pleased for you all. There are some lovely names out there. DH and I may end up arguing over our final choices. I am stuck on one name and he is stuck on another!! Can't have both as we have already chosen a middle name and it is important to me, and he understands and accepts this. This will all be mute if it is a boy, we are both in agreeance over his name!
Should be fun and games in the delivery room!!

Leaking boobs? Yeah, I was wondering about that. Mine have not leaked at all and have not increased in size either. The lack of leakage won't affect my ability to breastfeed will it? I am convincing myself that when the baby arrives all will be well.

I have gained about 1 and a half stone, but then I lost nearly 2 stone at the begining, due to sickness, so does that mean that really I have gained 3 and a half stone??
It makes me laugh, cos I had so many people saying (at six months) that I was HUGE and now they are saying how neat I am! Wish they would make up their blinking minds!!

I have not been having any signs that this baby is coming, except for some grumbling period type pains for about an hour yesterday, but nothing since. Well, actually, when I wake up in the middle of the night to pee, I get really stabbing pains as I try to get up, but I am figuring that is just the pressure of baby on my bladder. I am 2-3/5 engaged so could that be the case or ought I to be worrying about them?
This is my first so apologies for all the questions!!

I am not getting on well with the rasberry tea, and I don't like curries, we are both nervous about trying sex but both want to give it a go. But it seems so clinical surely there needs to be some desire before it will work. Little wonder they say it will be uncomfortable, thats probably cos the woman is not really ready to be probbed sorry tmi!
Whats this about pineapples?? I have not heard of that one, but I love them so if that is an option I am all for it!

Myrtle1 · 12/09/2006 15:35

Thanks Mabel, I seem to be worrying about everything just lately
Mimpim, I've not had leaky boobs either but I'm quite pleased about that. I've been drinking the raspberry leaf tea but only managing 1 cup a day. I think pineapple is one of the things that can bring on labour if you eat loads of it.

mabel1973 · 12/09/2006 15:36

mimpin - I bf DS for nearly 6 months and never had to use breast pads (apart from when my milk 1st came in) as they didn't leak, so I don't think there's connection between leaky boobs and BF.
My midwife with DS told me about the pineapple - apparantly in some countries pregnant women aren't allowed to eat it as something in it irritates the uterus, but obviously at this stage that is what you want.

calvemjoe · 12/09/2006 16:13

consultant says cervix is closed and posterior and that this baby isn't coming out anytime soon. She couldn't even do a sweep. I'm booked for an induction on the 17th and I've done nothing but cry since I got back. Feel like I've failed. Can't even cook a baby in the required time.

dreamydowler · 12/09/2006 16:26

aaawww hun dont get upset it perfectly common for babies to go past your estimated due date and things can happen very quickly once things start you need to keep as positive as you can and do lots of bouncing and walking to bring babies head down then just think to yourself no matter what happens you will have your baby in your arms this time next week that was the only thing that kept me going Ive had 6 already you would think my body would know what its meant to do by now this is the first time ever Ive gone 2 weeks over and had to be induced or have a sweep the second of mine didnt work yesterday either although the poking about bloody hurt. Perhaps you could get your dp to assist IYKWIM

There seems to be a lot out there who haven't been having a lot of sex but I'm hoping someone might be able to help me out here! me and my DP have been and have enjoyed it all the way through. But recently after sex I get quite severe pains - almost like labour (if I hadn't given birth before I would defo be at the maternity ward) but it isnt labour. They come and go and are like intermittent period pains.
Any suggestions as to what this is? It's got to the point where we aren't going to do it anymore . Anyone experience this?

JayJep · 12/09/2006 16:38

Oh Calvemjoe, I do understand it is so awful, I was told exactly the same thing on saturday when I having full on contractions and went to hospital. This is my 3rd & went over 6 days with Ds1, 9 days with Ds2, My due date is tomorrow. Saw consultant today who has booked induction for the 21st which I really don't want.
My midwife supposed to be doing a sweep on me this Thursday, but I can honestly say that I do not think my cervix is going to favourabl then either.

Chin up hun x

JayJep · 12/09/2006 16:42

Hi Apwd,

Sounds like your cervix is getting ready to me with all that humping......Lol! They say a mans S*m is supposed to ripen things and can also cause your womb to contract. If you can bear the pain keepiing going, you will have your baby b4 due date!!

Wish i didn't feel so knackered and hubby was up for it more so we can get this one out!!

JayJep · 12/09/2006 16:43

Can I get added to the list please due 13.9
