Okay, you are all going to hate me even more then as I have put on a total of........................................................................ 4lbs throughout my whole pregnancy!!!

My M/W didn't believe me and insisted on weighing me again.

mabel1973 · 11/09/2006 13:49

HI ALL

BLIMEY! Congrats to Mandaz, C&C, 1B1B, vindy and Topbanana (hope I haven't missed anyone - sorry if I have)
Had sweep this mornning (well I say this morning, Midwife 'forgot' and I had to ring her at about 12.30pm to ask where she was - as if it's not bad enough). The sweep was ok - it wasn't that i thought it would bother me - more who was doing it.
Am 2 cm dilated and 'favourable' so only time will tell.
As for the weight thing - i don't own a set of scales - so no idea. I can still get my size 12 jeans on (obviously can't do them up!) that's my benchmark.

homemama · 11/09/2006 13:53

More babies!!! Congratulations, Top Banana, Vindy and at last, 1B1B Hope you are all well!

I WANT MINE!!!!!!!
I don't remember being this impatient last time. Although I was nowhere near as big or as uncomfortable. I'm not even going to consider participating in the 'how much weight' debate. Suffice to say too much. That whole packet of flake cakes had to go somewhere!

Tassis, have things just completely stopped for you now? I think your DH must have had a word with the 'wee man' (not sure if it's just our lot that call Him that) to make sure that baby didn't come on a Sunday.

Good luck tomorrow, Norms!

clairemow · 11/09/2006 13:57

Well done Vindy and Topbanana and 1B1B (at last, you must be so relieved!!) - sorry to hear about your stay in hospital Vindy, but glad all is well now.

ooh, Liquid, nice poo story - we have had the same with DS1 - mostly in the morning -"what's that on my hand?" - luckily he doesn't actually take the nappy off, just sticks his hand down the back... Still, poo on wallpaper isn't great is it?!!

Marls, I had an episiotomy this time - they gave me a local anaesthetic for that, and I would have insisted on one for stitching!! Also, I'm still bleeding too - it's steady now, not too much and I can wear the thinner pads at last...

My midwife said my stomach muscles were quite separated - was it hard work to get them back Marls? I have a physio appointment on Weds for my pelvic floor (which I imagine was dessimated and has now been sewn up...) so will ask about stomach exercises too.

re. weight, I put on 2 stone, 1 of those disappeard last Saturday, so a stone to go or thereabouts. Once I get my walking/running shoes on hopefully that will go... I was lucky last time and actually ended up lighter before this pregnancy than before the first. Not sure that'll happen again...!!

finally, Norms, good luck tomorrow.

Hope you haven't got chicken pox in the house right now, that's all you need! Mind you, at least DS1 would have it out of the way, and you'd never have 2 children both with it at the same time... Look on the bright side...!!

Coriander73 · 11/09/2006 14:18

I put on 3 stone with DD, lost it all after 9 months (could have been sooner but I guess I just wasn't motivated enough at the time)....& hey presto have put on exactly 3 stone with this pg too....oh well....

Yes liquid, I hate you..: o

Myrtle1 · 11/09/2006 16:42

Congratulations to 1B1B, Vindy and TopBanana. I've been feeling really anxious about the birth again today In one way I just really want to get LO out especially as the girl that lives opposite me has just had hers and she was taking it for a walk into town today - v. jealous, but at the same time I'm scared at the thought of birth.
I've put on 2 stone exactly with this pregnancy. Can the midwife tell you how heavy the LO might be? I might ask at next appointment.

liquidclocks · 11/09/2006 17:04

Oh Cori - so hurt! Mind you - you have to hate flumpy even more - 4 lbs!

Thanks for the best wishes re chicken pox - I sent DS to nursery this morning and they haven't called- the spots didn't look any worse this morning and I figured with chicken pox they'd have turned into blisters by now. I'm putting it down to an eczema flare up as he does get 'spotty' eczema - just not geerally on his back.

Have finished my penultimate 'day'- will have to work this evening though in order to have a cat in hells chance of getting anywhere near to handover status by tomorrow afternoon but still - this time tomorrow I'll be driving home with NO WORK TO DO

Myrtle - the m/w can guesstimate birth weight from your chart but really it's wait and see. My friend had an 11lb baby last year and no tearing - not even a graze! It's all down to the individual mum and baby, try not to worry - s/he WILL come out one way or another and then it won't matter anyway

Mabel - 2cm is promising! fingers crossed for you!

tassis · 11/09/2006 17:43

Flumpybumpy - 4 lbs??!! Wow!

Homemama - thanks for making me feel a bit better by mentioning the whole packet of flake cakes (yum), but I reckon I'm the winner with my 4 stone... (still in shock!)

Mabel - 2cms sounds promising, hopefully things will start soon.

Homemama - you're right it was great to avoid Sunday, but frankly I think we coul ddeal with the inconvenience if we could just get this baby out! I'm getting more grumpy and emotional by the minute. Sleeping badly isn't helping.

LC - so glad your LO doesn't have pox.

tassis · 11/09/2006 17:56

so tonight's question is - does anyone else (who's not had their baby yet!) have really leaky boobs?

I'm sure I didn't have this last time...

Coriander73 · 11/09/2006 19:20

LOL Liquid...yes, 4lb just doesn't seem possible - I think I must have put that on just on my face!!!!

Tassis, no leaky boobs...yet. I remember them leaking when we had sex post birth...that was a shock, no one told me that could happen!!!!!!

Mabel, 2cm..! Your LO will be here in the next few hours I'm sure! Myrtle, we all understand how you feel...! You know I'm sure DD senses something...she had another accident today & weed on the sofa again when we got home - told me as she was doing it & at nursery they were so surprised as she's not had any accidents there at all for 6 weeks, yes 6 weeks!!! Still being calm about it but it's just come out of nowhere. She's also (for a change) being quite a Mummy's girl & quite clingy, which is wierd as she's not a clingy child nor is or ever has been a Mummy's girl - most definitely her Father's daughter! I assume that it's normal behaviour..? I feel for her I really do...even though I know her life will be enriched for having a sibling (& our's a lot poorer!!!!)....

Have eaten the best part of a pineapple today plus popping the old raspberry leaf tablets....

apwd · 11/09/2006 20:29

Tassis - Yes, I too have leaky boobs that seem to be worse on a morning after being squashed all night whilst I try to get comfortable on my side.

Have been really bad this past week and have been buying boxes of Black Magic.. mmm. Must stop - I dont want to put on anymore weight. Have just reached the 2 stone mark.

Has anyone tried the post-natal 'hold you in knickers' or similar? I have a surprise 30th to go to next month and am dreading the whole 'I haven't got anyhting to wear' stress beforehand. Do they work?! or does the baby belly get pushed out into other areas?!
Suggestions appreciated.

Marls001 · 11/09/2006 20:49

LC - I think that's a good idea; remember joking with DH and nurse as they stitched me up; couldn't feel a thing.
Thanks for translation for "stone"! (Had no idea.)

Flumpy - 4 pounds!! Well ? good luck losing it; will be v. hard I?m sure.

Okay then, I've gained 40 pounds - nearly 3 stone, right? Unsure how much lost in birth ? no scale in the house.

Mirror assessment though is: 97 cm is what's left of the bump, and lots of folds of fat/skin around back. Won?t dare try non-maternity shorts/pants ? not for a while. Arms and legs look nearly normal, but a thin layer of fat there and everywhere. Normal will be when my collarbones return. At one week out, it's hard to look ? and though the v. unreasonable part of me wanted to just snap back, my brain knows it?s not so bad.

Claire ? Took 6 months to get everything back. Take special care with specific exercises to bring diastasis together first ? not just any situps - until they?re back where you want them. Had found some info on diastasis to follow; will add to files for your use too. With DS1 had a personal trainer set up a routine for me ? concentrating on stomach - 4 days/week, plus running 2 days/week. Gym was equipped with nursery, so began dropping off DS1 at 8 weeks (after he'd had his shots) and lost 30 lbs by 6 months out. I hope to do something similar of course but am realistically giving myself a full year ? even two ? since I'm 3 years older and 10 pounds heavier this time! It will come off though, no doubt about it. I miss my clothes.

Wouldn?t recommend a cruise as a first trip after baby ? granted it was fabulous (after DS1) but hard for me to watch the food ? gained back some baby weight! (Lost it yet again, but still.)

Cori ? Dr. told me no sex for 6 weeks ? probably due to stitches, eh?

calvemjoe · 11/09/2006 22:37

I'm still here and now relly fed up. Will be a week overdue tomorrow and seeing my consultant. I can't decide if I should try induction or opt for an elective section and the while choice is really getting me down. Even tried nipple stimulation today for 2 hours until it just hurt and so far, nothing.

1b1b, 10lbs, wow, I don't envy you.

I've gained just under a stone, had gained a bit more but have started losing weight over the last few weeks.

Please send labour vibes my way x

puppy · 11/09/2006 22:54

Congratulations to coffeeandcake,mandaz,Topbanana,Vindy,1b1b, well done on your bundle of joys

Thanks liquid I did google alice syndrome and explained exactly what I had experienced - a silent migraine, I only had it for approx 20ins. How did you cope with it permently glad your treatment for it is working.

Aww Homemama glad your lo has perked up since your stay in hospital. Hows the sickness?

Congratulations to coffeeandcake,mandaz,Topbanana,Vindy,1b1b, well done on your bundle of joys

I'm ok now tassis, it was scary but aleast the sight part didn't last too long. My stepdad has lent me one of his sphygs (him and my mum are paramedics), so I can keep an eye on my bp.

Good Luck for tomorrow norms

Red sorry I can't answer your q,but its a good sign your lo is active.

Flumpy 4lb !!!!!!!!!!, approx a stone here too but I had quite abit left from my last preg.

no chest leaks here lol.

Nothing much happening here get the odd strong painful contraction but nothing regular, and tightenings without pain . Ready for baby to come now, even ds has made big progress for the last three weeks sleeping in his own bed for the whole of the night .

Lots of thunder and lightening here tonight.

puppy · 11/09/2006 22:56

Sending you those vibes calvemjoe and hugs, fingerscrossed its you next

liquidclocks · 12/09/2006 07:04

Good morning! Gosh it feels early - have just waved bye bye to DH who's got a lunchtime meeting in London today - praying now that this is the one day when baby decides to stay put - it would take DH 4-5 hrs to get home which is barely the length of my last labour and I don't want him to miss it!

Puppy - glad the search explained your symptoms! They can be a bit unnerving if you don't know what's happening. With regards to the lengthof time I had them - my GP at the time told me they were psychological (visual hallucinations basically) and implied I was mentally ill! - You can imagine how relieved I was to find that they weren't and they go away when I'm on my meds!

Tassis - haven't had leaky bobs this time but with DS I was wearing breast pads from about 20 weeks! DOn't know what's different this time - they're definitely making colostrum though just not a lot...

Last day at work today - now must go make DS's packed lunch and warm milk as I can hear the cot shaking upstairs!

Give those babies already arrived lots of cuddles for me!

Flumpybumpy · 12/09/2006 08:27

Sorry ladies, I wasn't bragging.....honest :0

I lost loads of weight through this pregnancy due to v. bad sickness in the early months and just haven't been able to put it back on. I am still 13st and have a target weight of 9st to get down to, which is what I weighed when I married.

Congrats to you all with new babies, I am jealous, I want this LO out now, getting v fed up and bored.

My DD told my 'bump' off the other day, saying she was bored waiting for it to come out as she wanted to play.

compo · 12/09/2006 08:39

Morning everyone. Well due date today and absolutely no sign of anything happening - probably good job as dh has put car in for MOT today !! Mum is coming down this afternoon for a couple of days just in case we need her to look after ds in the middle of the night!
Good luck with c-section today Norms - can't wait to see your announcement.
LC - can't beleive you're still working, have fun on your last day.
Tassis - no leaking boobs here... hope this doesn't mean b/feeding is going to be the hell that it was last time

calvemjoe · 12/09/2006 08:40

I'm 41 weeks pg!

Good luck for today Norms x

Gizmo · 12/09/2006 10:11

Morning all

Won't be long before there are more of us with babies than without, from the look of it. Congratulations to all new arrivals - 1B1B, shouldn't you be 2Bs now?

Quick catch up before I dash off to ring delivery company and raise Cain for non-appearance of my floor tiles: I am large round the front, am carrying at least an extra 20lb, (but really not sure because I have no accurate weight for me pre pregnancy) and finding legs and pelvis are increasingly complaining on the slightest pretext. Laying several sq m of underfloor heating mat last night was very heavy weather.

Nice rainy night last night has lowered temperature here, which was a relief, as I was back to sleeping with nothing over me and consequently the mosquitos had made a feast of me. Little buggers: I hope the excess of fluid in my system blew them up like balloons.

My house is a total builder-induced bomb site, so I'm hoping arrival of baby-induced bomb site will just blend right in

mabel1973 · 12/09/2006 10:45

hello

I'm still here too! Sweep didn't seem to do a great deal, I had a few tightenings, nothing approaching a contraction. MW said I might have a show, and I have had some blood stained mucus (sorry tmi) this morning, but it certainly wasn't a show, as I remember it from last time. I guess it still means that SOMETHING is happening.
The midwife seemed convinced that I wouldn't need another sweep and so hasn't booked me in for one til next monday by which time I'll be 10 days over due - this seems a bit late to me? If I do need to be induced, it is going to be heading towards 2 weeks over by the time I get in, also DS was a big baby, this one looks like it's going to be 9lb or so - how big exactly does she want it to get??!
Calve - you have my sympathy, you must be really fed up. I will be 1 week over on thurs.
apwd - re: 'hold you in knickers' I mentioned to Marls that I'd bought some 'Spanx' after DS, as DH was taking me for a posh lunch for our anniversary and I wanted to look normal-ish, they are quite good, a bit like cycling shorts - you can get them on figleaves.com. I did buy a couple of pairs of M&S 'magic knickers' as well, but they tended to roll down and just push the fat somewhere else.

dreamydowler · 12/09/2006 11:04

good morning all well Im 12 days overdue now. sweep didnt do much for me either mabel and am booked in for induction tomorrow morning. Im expecting at least 9lb baby too apparently babys head is still high so hope im not going to take forever to be induced excited but anxious now too. Congratulations to all those who have had their babies recently

mabel1973 · 12/09/2006 11:34

Hi dreamy - can't remember if you said - is this your 1st baby?
I had 2 sweeps last time with DS and the 2nd one worked, I had contractions within hours of having it. So I am hoping that it won't come to having an induction as I didn't need one last time, although I am not sure if I am just being presumptuous?
Has your midwife only given you 1 sweep?
Good luck with your induction tommmrow.

angelfaces · 12/09/2006 11:38

Hiya guys, havn't been on here for months, congratulations to all of you who now have your little babies, i'm due in 2 days time; getting a bit irritable and uncomfotable now. About the weight thingy, i've put on 3 and a half stone although it doesn't really look that noticable as i'm tall.

dreamydowler · 12/09/2006 12:00

no this is my 7th child but first ever induction I normally go early. I have had 2 sweeps and whilst Ive got some mild period type pains nothing to make a fuss over
