Hi everyone!
Well I felt fab yesterday but feel like I've been beaten up today. Despite no tearing, I'm a bit bruised and battered as she was 9lb8oz and came quickly. On my notes it says the pushing stage was only 4mins! Lizzie is feeding very well and frequently so I hope my milk comes in soon otherwise she's going to get frustrated.

Congratulations Mabel! Good luck to Cal too! Cori, hope you've joined us on the other side by now too!

liquidclocks · 17/09/2006 16:14

Redz - that's weird, I just logged on to post that I was feeling exactly what you describe - horrid isn't it?But I'm also getting shooting pains inside my hips/groin/upper thigh so baby must be catching a nerve or something. Don't mind when he comes but don't want this feeling for another 3 weeks! Hope it happens soo for you.

puppy · 17/09/2006 16:41

Not feeling too good today, got a headcold with a headache I can't shift, been sick , sore throat earache. Been sleeping most of the day and still very heavy headed.

Hope you are all well.

Oh Redz & Liquid re: bladder - that was the WORST aspect of late pg for me.

Missed "Life of Pi" month at book group; darn! Should just read it on my own then, eh?

Still member of 2 separate book groups here, but haven't made it to either of them in months! Starting up again this Thursday - book is "Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons" - brain candy - but still, can't wait. Have felt so isolated from girlfriends the past few weeks.

Gizmo - Really loved Dorothy Parker; essays/theater/book reviews beautifully written and hilarious, especially for her time! Kept thinking while reading "she was older than my grandmother" - yet so edgy! Absolute favorite essay is "The Middle or Blue Period."
LOL at your books not fitting together ... I loved "The Three-Martini Playdate: A Practical Guide to Happy Parenting" by Christie Mellor. (One chapter that resonated: "Children's Music": Why?)

calvemjoe · 17/09/2006 23:15

Hey to everyone,
This is Calvemjoe's hubby hear. Just thought i would let you all know how she is doing. We went in to the hospital today to start the inducing. Arrived there at 10.30am and then we got moved to the labour ward at 1pm because of trying for a 'vbac'. Had the first lot of 'pessary' (I think that is how oyu spell it!)at 3pm and then waited. No real movement from the first lot, so when she was monitored ready for the second lot, the consultant she is with only prefers mothers trying for a 'vbac' to only have one lot. So they have sent me home as there does not seem to be any real movement over night and she is still in hospital. How sh*t is that??? Any way just thought you might like to know, now going to bed all alone .

Flumpybumpy · 18/09/2006 08:21

Thanks for the update calvenjoe's hubby. Hopefully by the time you read this there will be a gorgeous new LO in the world.

Hope all goes well

Myrtle1 · 18/09/2006 13:44

Hello,
Hope everyone is well - its been very quiet on here so far today.
I saw the midwife this morning and she said the baby was very tightly packed in and its head is 3/5 engaged which she said was fully engaged. Does that mean it won't be long now? She wouldn't answer that question, she said how long is a piece of string? My friend at work has also just had her baby - 9 days early. I'm so jealous, at the moment I feel like I'll still be pregnant at Christmas!
I hope everything is going ok for Calvemjoe...

redz · 18/09/2006 15:16

Hi All,
Yes it has been very quiet on here today. Must I assume that this is a result of more of you dropping your lo's? Not fair. Well actually its nice to know its happening for someone.
My due date today and not a flutter! well when babys ready it pokes its bum out so I know its still there but thats about it!.
Ive got hosp appointment tommorow and I was told we will discuss my induction date, is it true they will make you go at least 10 days overdue before inducing you? or is it different for different hosps?.
I would really like to see my baby by the end of the week!! And the fact that my hands are really swollen and I can barely pick up anything makes me want this pregnancy over sharpish.

puppy · 18/09/2006 15:18

Hope things are working now calvemjoe and your holding your lo.

I have been in hospital all morning I had the silent migraine again while driving. had to pull over as i couldn't see and dh picked me up. thought it was best to get checked out as its a new thing for me. alls well they want me to make an appt with an optician. put me on monitor and said i was having tightenings every 5mins. hopefully will turn into established labour today - fingers crossed. head cold more bearable now.

Myrtle i have been 2/5 engaged for a few weeks now, i don't think it means labour is imminent but things are getting ready.

It is quiet on here today, hope you got to have your breakfast with dh liquid and that it was enjoyable

puppy · 18/09/2006 15:20

redz they told me this am that they will allow me to go 10days over before induction too. I was due yesterday.

redz · 18/09/2006 16:37

Thanks Puppy, Really hope baby decides to come before the 10days feel like I cant go on any longer.
By the sounds of things it will satrt happening for you very soon! Good luck

liquidclocks · 18/09/2006 17:03

'Tis quiet isn't it! Puppy - that sounds really scary, I think it's best to get properly checked out if it's going to affect your driving, hopefully it's just a pg thing though. My aunt had about 3/4 within a few months when she was in her 20's but then nothing since and she's now in her 50's so hopefully it will be same for you.

Redz - they let us go 10 days over here too but when I had DS I pleaded severe discomfort (had PUPPP) and they induced me just before due date. Might be worth trying to sound as desparate as possible - but be warned, inductions are bl**dy painful and if they fail (which happens quite a bit if try too early) you'll end up with a section so be sure you want it.

Myrtle - that's great news! hopefully things will get moving soon (then you'll wish you could put it back inside in a few weeks for a break!)

Hope Cal's had her baby by now and hubby's been allowed back in.

I made my day with DH, came home about 3.30pm and conked on sofa until now! So I'm ready for LO, and he probably won't show up until 10 days post-due date. DH is off work tomorrow as well so he's going to come to m/w appt with me - I've promised him he'll be able to hear the heartbeat!

Hope all you post baby are healing well - Mandaz - no update from you for a bit, hope Georgia's being nice to her mummy!

SophieB · 18/09/2006 17:09

Im getting really impatient! im due sat but i want the baby to arrive now! i think because ive known ive been pregnant since the very beginning feels like ive been pregnant for years!!! anyone else feel like me?

redz · 18/09/2006 17:25

Sophie know exactly how you feel! I found out when I was 4 weeks pg. When I was buying the test my mum kept telling me not to she told me wait a couple of months and see what happens (as in the good ole days you didnt find out you were pg so soon) But then the eager beaver I am I couldnt wait! But then I did drink and smoke and wanted to know so I could knock it on the head.
But I feel like ive been pg FOREVER.
Its true what they say the last few weeks are the longest. I just take solace knowing the baby has to be here by the end of the month no matter how comfortable it is.
And to make things worst Ive heard you pile on more weight if you go overdue the last thing I need

SophieB · 18/09/2006 17:32

i just know im going to go over due! the midwife said to me last week that the baby still has some water so he wont be arriving this week, that was last weds, so he had better hurry up!!! i just want to go back to being normal! i want to be able to sit down and get up again without moaning and having great difficulty, not going to the toilet 3 times a night etc etc!! and the mood swings, i carnt wait for them to go, im sure my partner is the same, his been getting it in the neck over the smallest thing since the very beginning! oh well what are they here for!!!

redz · 18/09/2006 18:03

Oh dont get me started on the moaning! Im the bitch from hell! And I know I am but I just cant help it! Poor dp he just puts up with it. Its a good job he's a really chilled calm person or we would have serious problems!
I just want my body back! Well I want a chance to get my body back! And wear my clothes that have been going to waste for the past 40weeks!!
Sophie lets just breathe in breathe out and count to 10!x

apwd · 18/09/2006 18:08

HI guys, well I had a sweep today - 3 days before due to see if they can get me going.
The doc was male and not very informative. He said cervix was ripe and soft and that he had managed to (sorry - TMI warning) get 2 fingers there. Does anyone know if that means anything?
Had some blood loss since and pain with tightenings. Is this the norm after a sweep? Don't want to get my hops up.
Any info would be appreciated.

liquidclocks · 18/09/2006 19:48

apwd - your sweep sounds promising! Being able to get 2 fingers in means your body is getting ready to have the baby so not too long to go for you. The tighteningss may fade for a bit though - just take it as a sign to get as much rest as possible and build up your energy for labour and having a newborn - will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Myrtle1 · 18/09/2006 19:56

Sophie and Redz, I know what you mean! I'm up every night a couple of times to wee and then when I wake up my sides and back are usually aching and I can't bend over anymore
I can't wait to meet LO either though, it will be so exciting to see what they look like and get to know them and I'll be very pleased once the birth is over and we have both come through it unharmed (I hope).
apwd - I hope the sweep is successful and things get going soon.

apwd · 18/09/2006 20:02

Thanks liquid. the tightenings HAVE faded so just assuming its not worked, but I'm still having pains every so often. nothing regular though. May try some star jumps.. then again resting and reading a book does seem an easier option!

My sister has lent me her birthing ball. very comfortable. DS thinks it is great to roll on. think thats the only thing it will be being used for at the mo!

Hope you are feeling better today Puppy.

Redz - 12 days over here is usual. I suppose if they induce too early it runs a higher risk of CS if baby not ready.

mimpim · 18/09/2006 20:06

I haven't been on for a day or so, it has been quiet though hasn't it. Normally takes me a good hour to catch up with you all!!

Well, after I had my show on Saturday, I had cramps all sat night and really thought we were on our way on Sunday morn, by 10am they seemed to be 5 mins apart, called the hospital who said to come in but not to rush. So we had breakfast and they slowed right down!
We waited a few hours to see what would happen and then went for a walk, that is meant to ease them if it is a false labour. Well, they got worse on the way down the road but then became 10 mins apart on the way back. poo!
So I jumped in for a bath, if we were going to go to hospital I wanted to at least wash! But the minute I jumped in the bath, Nothing! It all stopped!!!
The evening passed with a few grumblingss and I went to bed very disheartened.
Today has been the same, only a few grumbling pains but nothing nearing regularity or any Great pain.

I was having tightenings over my tummy and what felt like period pains, which got to be quite strong at times.
Was I really having contractions or was it all in my mind after seeing the show and yesterday being my due date?
What do you think?

I have an appointment with the consultant tommorrow at 2. Should I ask for a sweep? Or is it too soon. Is he going to be having a probe around anyway?? Never had an internal before, bit nervous about it.
They are happy to leave us, until 10 days over, here too.
Just don't know what to make of it all!

mimpim · 18/09/2006 20:08

Gosh! That went on a bit, sorry for the long message!
So much going through my mind!!

calvemjoe · 18/09/2006 21:20
