Another passage i found when i googled -

The mucous plug lies within the neck of the womb. It comes away as the neck of the womb (cervix) begins to enlarge to allow the baby to pass through. Therefore it is lost at the very beginning of labour. The length of time between this and delivery is very variable, between a few days and a few hours. This mucous plug may not be recognised at all; but it looks like a small piece of stringy jelly. Sometimes, but not always it may be streaked with a small amount of blood.

Congratulations Compo and Tassis!! Compo, what a speedy one!! Poor DH - he must have been surprised when he arrived with you!!

Cori, that sounds exactly like a show...

Mabel, hope things are going well? Let us know...!

Puppy, hope things are kicking off.

It's exciting coming on here to check, these babies all over the shop!!

Coriander73 · 15/09/2006 15:34

oohhh...well it wasn't much so I was worried that maybe I'd convinced myself I was staring at something that wasn't there iyswim?!! I was awake last night with almost what I'd call very strong menstrual cramps rather than bh....still now I want something to happen so everytime I go to the loo I hope there is something more.....(I'm I sick or what?!!!!) : o

Congratulations Compo!! Glad you made it in time!!

Looking forward to reading about yours, Mabel!

Congrats Tassis, as well! Love the name Lucy.

1B1B, please hang in there! So glad your DH is being such a help right now.

homemama · 15/09/2006 16:32

Waters went in the night. Having irregular contractions at the moment. Hoping for it to get going as they'll induce tomorrow if no progress. I'll keep you posted.

Congratulations Compo and Tassis.

compo · 15/09/2006 18:36

congrats Tassis. Good luck Homemama and all those with signs. A show definitely means something is imminent
1B1B - I feel exactly the same as you if it's any help...

Coriander73 · 15/09/2006 18:51

Hey Compo...how are you feeling? Does DD have a name?

Have had a bit more show....DH is driving me mad...keeps telling me not to cry wolf..err..hello??!!!! When I'm in labour he'll know I keep telling him..

Actually feel quite nervous...even though I'm terribly excited too..does that make sense?

Wow! all these babies! Congrats to compo and tassis.
Homemama - you and tassis both were due on same day as me and I'm nowhere near a show let alone waters breaking!!! Good luck!

Have been told to jump off a table today - the things people say.

My friend in hospital is REALLY depressed. now told her they wont section until 38 weeks and she has to stay in. in the mean time she could have a massive bleed and they said she could end up having a hysterectomy. felt so helpless and wasn't sure what to say. I tried to tell her she'd be fed up even if she was out of hosp and she should try enjoy the rest but she sat and cried for the whole hour I was there. Felt so bad for her.

Thanks for the book suggestions liquid but she's not a reader so i settled for videos as she is in her own room. but needless to say that didn't really make an impact.

liquidclocks · 15/09/2006 19:46

Tassis, Mabel and compo - wow - congratulations all! - and good luck to homemama!

Is it possible for a show to come in 'bits'? I think I had some more today... not that it really means anything anyway!

calvemjoe · 15/09/2006 20:35

Congratulations to all of you queue jumpers! I'm so glad Mabel, compo and Tassis all have healthy lo's in their arms.

Homemama and jayjep hope everything is going ok for you.

Well, I'm 10 days overdue and still no sign of my lo making an appearance so it looks like I'll be induced on Sunday. Consultant said if they induce sunday I should have a baby by tuesday. Wow this is going to be fun!

Look after those babies and bumps x

Coriander73 · 15/09/2006 20:43

Have I missed something re Mabel?! She said something was happening but has it? I can't see any birth announcement etc & she's being congratulated..??!

OP posts:
calvemjoe · 15/09/2006 20:58

Fair point Cori, there has been no birth announcment, think I may have been a bit premature (well I had to be at something )

calvemjoe · 15/09/2006 21:01

Dreamydowler has had a little girl after being induced.

puppy · 15/09/2006 21:11

Hi all still here, pains are on and off coriander hopefully will turn into something in the night, they are quite painful at times too.

Homemama hope something kicks off tonight for you.

calvemjoe · 15/09/2006 21:13

Good luck puppy [supportive thinking about you emoticon]

puppy · 15/09/2006 21:19

thanks clanemjoe , they are prob braxtons, fingers crossed its your turn next though.

puppy · 15/09/2006 21:20

don't know what happened with my typing there lol

Coriander73 · 15/09/2006 22:51

OMG...my waters have just broken Was a very strange sensation like I was wetting myself but had no control whatsoever (with DD they were broken for me & as I was under an epidural never felt a thing so have been worrying about whether I'd know if they broke etc!!)....have spoken to the MW at the hospital who says to wait until contractions are up & running at 7 minutes apart before going in.....have rung MIL who is on her way - she's 3 hours away...feel very odd, excited, nervous, scared, overwhelmed, queasy!!

Just we wait I suppose..? DH is making himself a large coffee...bemoning the fact that why couldn't I have possibly waited until the morning or on a day DD was at nursery & that he want have time to play his new computer game..!!!

Woodelf · 15/09/2006 23:00

Congrats to all the new arrivals and the one's who are on their way! So much going on I've only just got around to trying to catch up.

Getting more uncomfy BHs with an element of the old period pain type feeling with them so who knows - guess I'll not be able to mistake the real thing when it start tho. .

This is getting so exciting and scary - good luck everyone [hugs emoticon]

clairemow · 16/09/2006 10:02

Good luck everyone - it sounds like it's happening or going to happen for loads of you this weekend/early next week... Yipee!!

puppy · 16/09/2006 11:21

Went to bed last night and the pains stopped, got up this am and they have started again so who knows whats happening.

Looking forward to all these birth announcements and piccies on yahoo , can't wait to see if lo is a boy or girl, and to have a cuddle and to get rid of this spd.
