me I know what you mean about top 10. I always wanted a Harry. I didn't even look at name lists or anything. Now I do intend to be a little more careful this time as my poor Harry is one of 3 in his class and always known as Harry p. at his football there are around 8.

Pregnantagain7 · 20/06/2014 13:00

We are having a nightmare with names too, as this is dc4 I feel like We have used everything we like! Quite liked Rocco but then watched wolf of Wall Street and it killed it dead! Thinking maybe Carlo but not sure there are loads of name I like but dp doesn't, we would both like something italian (as my family is) but not something too unusual. I have a very unusual name ( well it is here ) and it can be a pain so want to try and avoid anything too way out :)

magichandles · 20/06/2014 13:20

We still have the name we liked if DS had been a girl, but for some reason I feel I should explore all the options again. I do have another name I love and has been my top girl's name for years, but bloody DH has vetoed it.

In other news I've been feeling quite tired this last week, especially after meals, so I dug out my blood sugar test things from last time and had a high fasting reading this morning - I only had a clear GTT last week as well. I'm going to monitor it over the weekend and then call my midwife on Monday to see what I need to do. I could really do without another GTT so soon, but I suppose that is what I'll get sent for.

Kirstipops · 20/06/2014 13:21

I love Italian names, my Italian friend has three boys, Luca, Massimo and Vito. They are such cute children it makes me love the names more!

Boy's names are sooo hard - we are having one and have come up with Max and that is it so far. We have ruled out Milo, Guy, Theo...girl's names seem to have more choice and more room to be unusual. I do like Murdo though and Mungo is awesome although word association makes me want to say Mungo-Jerrie [and rumpleteazer]... Some of the old Scottish names like Hector, Hamish are fun too (I am semi-Scottish). DH is Brazilian and there they have names for boys like Roosevelt so guess we are lucky!

gunwalloe · 20/06/2014 14:14

Me23 all they found last time was the leucocytes. I've got my appointment at 3:00 defiantly glad I have as today have some blood only a small bit so hopefully nothing to worry about.

I'm a sucker for names ending ie I also like unisex names we had hit a brick wall with boys names and had compromised with Cory or Cody. Baby's a girl so we can stick with the name we both love.

bumpbangbump · 20/06/2014 16:02

I like Emilia but oh doesn't, also Ava which is out as my brother has a brand new Evie. The only girls name both of us like is Grace, but it's really popular at the moment...

Pinkie2103 · 20/06/2014 16:15

We already have a Jack and while its meant to be super popular I've never heard of another Jack. Struggling to find another name I like to go with Jack (we're team yellow) but have heaps of girls names, many of which are in the "top 20 list"

My husband is a primary school teacher though so we have similar problems to some of you with associating names to children in class....so annoying!

YellowWellies · 20/06/2014 16:19

I got the job! Am so surprised! I let them know before interview that I'm 22 weeks preggers and wouldn't want to be full time until they're both in secondary school. And they still said yes! But yowzer going from 2 days a week freelancing to 4 days a week between now and October will be a shock. After a years mat leave I'll be going back 2-3 days a week. Am really chuffed.

Grannyapple · 20/06/2014 16:36

Wow...what a result & well done yellow.

We love Ds1's name...not really heard another (Nathaniel, tho we shorten it to Nate...he needs a Sunday name for when he's in trouble when he's older Grin).

DD's name is the v popular Amelia, middle name is Catherine after my mum... I too was worried about using it as it's so popular but we had wgen we were preggo with DS & still really like it...& as my cousin says, it's YOUR Amelia, no one else's, so still unique in your eyes.
Struggling to choose for this DS tho...I like good old Scottish names but don't want to burden the child with spelling issues (eh Rhuriadh...pronounced rooory, I'm not even sure I know how to spell it to be honest Grin). I also love Italian names like Luca & Milo but no Italian connection whatsoever!

We keep coming back to traditional Jewish names...neither of us are Jewish but they are v popular names too (Jacob, Daniel etc). I liked Sebastian last time, shortened to Seb but DH vetoed it & surname is Smith so too many S's me thinks!

Knackered here constantly...& getting fed up chasing my tail trying to attempt to clean this place with 2 little ones in tow...

Kirstipops · 20/06/2014 16:37

Eeeh congratulations Yellow, they must really want you for the job :)

I have a cousin Ruaridh! (I teasingly called him Roo-ah-riddy as that was how I'd pronounce it to myself when I was writing his bday card). I like it, Gaelic for "red" isn't it?
Today I like Archie and Lola. These, particularly Lola, will probably change by tomorrow morning as I've had The Kinks in my head all day...

Well done yellow

Feeling like crap today, nauseous and weak.
Cannot wait until mat leave.

YellowWellies · 20/06/2014 17:18

My pals got a Ruaridh - shortened to Roo which is possibly the cutest nickname ever IMHO! I love Nate and Nathaniel but couldn't persuade DH. Boo. Its very lovely. Its funny to hear Catherine making a comeback. I'm one and my class in the 80s and 90s had loads - then it disappeared. Nice to see it making a comeback . My niece is Willow which I love.

Loulou888 · 20/06/2014 18:11

Ooooo sticking to my settee as I type too hot.

I like That name too but spelling would be Rory here. I like willow DH has said no!

Congrats yellow

I'm so tired it's making me so lethargic. My friend is preggers but only in front by a couple of weeks. She's been telling me that she has actually been waking her DH up every morning to Dtd. Apparently he turned her down this morning! What she has been on I don't know but I'm. Certainly not feeling up to that!

Pregnantagain7 · 20/06/2014 18:14

kirsti omg that is very freaky my sons name is Luca vito!!! Cue the spooky musicGrin

FlipFantasia · 20/06/2014 18:19

Yellow - that's fantastic! Well done! Had a great work meeting this morning (bonus being that they gave me 15 free picture books for my kids!). Kids were fascinated that I was the one going out to work for once (my 4 year old once told me that my job was picking food up off the floor!).

FlipFantasia · 20/06/2014 18:20

Fatpony thanks for the links! I hereby solemnly swear to actually make something for this baby (and my older kids). My 90 year old grandmother in law gave me her 1940 singer and tis a thing of (functional) beauty...now just have to make something!

gunwalloe · 20/06/2014 18:39

Docs went ok she's sending of my urine and didn't seem to worried about the blood as at the time it was only a small bit but I've just been to the toilet and there's more but I can't work out if I've cut myself scratching or it's coming from baby. She took my bp which had jumped up to 132/93 but didn't seem overly worried and typically I've now got a headache don't know if its worth phoning the hospital or if im being a drama queen

Loulou888 · 20/06/2014 18:42

Ring the hospital gun got to be safer than sorry.

porcito · 20/06/2014 19:09

Congrats on the job yellow

Hope you feel better gun, phone the hospital, even if it's just to ease your mind. If it's something you're going to worry about, you're not being a drama queen. Better to go in and be a bit over dramatic than not go in and regret it.

Luca was on our list for a boy, but we're still struggling with girls. I love the name Evie/Eva but DP says only 'old ladies' are called it here. I like the fact it will be unusual but given I vetoed his 'Brenda' for a similar reason, I can't really say anything. I find girls' names so hard!

Sparkle We've got the bednest and love it!

FlipFantasia · 20/06/2014 19:43

Gun I'd phone the midwives/hospital and get some proper reassurance.
