Baby can turn at any time binky but mostly they know before hand if baby is back to back...

YellowWellies · 03/07/2014 15:31

I was shouting at the telly "go on say cunting fuck you'll feel much better love!!!!"

Binky yes they can tell and so can you if you spot where kicks etc are later in pregnancy. Some turn during labour. J was perfectly presented until my waters broke - then he went back to back. Getting down on hands and knees can turn them - sometimes it didn't for us, neither did the wheelbarrow position. Having heard her story and thinking before it was just me being a wuss about back to back - this time I'm cool to go for an epidural if it is again!

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 03/07/2014 15:54

I really wanted her to swear as well! I did think it was funny that she apologised afterwards!

I hear back to back labours are a bitch, really hope i don't get one this time! I found labour pretty easy last time & keep thinking this one is going to be awful as I can't be that lucky again surely?! Don't think you get anything stronger than gas & air for a home birth though Hmm

gunwalloe · 03/07/2014 15:56

Yellow I was willing her on to lol
I said to hubby I didn't swear did I? He said errr not much lol

Growth scan went well she's weighing 2.5 lb according to there measurements. We had a lovely moment at the end where she looked at her face and she was opening and closing her mouth drinking.

I'm trying to remember which nappies where best for breasted babies I remember one was great and one awful out of huggies and pampers can someone remind me?

gunwalloe · 03/07/2014 15:58

That should be breast fed babies

YellowWellies · 03/07/2014 16:11

Gun they've stopped selling Huggies nappies in the uk. We like Asda own brand best. Pampers leaked on him lots. Also ones are meant to be good too

gunwalloe · 03/07/2014 16:16

OMG see I'm well out of the baby loop lol

I must be remembering that pampers were awful I will get some Asda ones. Nothing worse than leaking liquid poo!

YellowWellies · 03/07/2014 16:29

Aldi ones are good too though we didn't discover them until he was on solids so don't know what they're like for BM poos.

fatpony · 03/07/2014 16:34

That labour sounds terrifying, poor girl - what makes a back to back labour more painful though?

YellowWellies · 03/07/2014 16:41

The baby's spine grinds against your spine with each contraction and the head goes through the birth canal upside down so fits badly through the pelvis and cervix. Ouch.

YellowWellies · 03/07/2014 16:43

Your body tries to turn the baby by lots more contractions and you tend to get a very short (and sometimes no!) pain free gap between them.

ohthegoats · 03/07/2014 17:43

28 week growth scan today, and the child is boringly average on all counts. So much for 'small'!

gunwalloe · 03/07/2014 18:23

Same here goats I wish they wouldn't worry people unnecessarily did they give you a current weight estimate?

ohthegoats · 03/07/2014 18:27

No. I didn't ask though. I've got another one at 32 weeks, at which point I suppose they might have more of a clue (yeah right!)

fedupofrainydays · 03/07/2014 18:42

Ds was back to back then sideways! Awful!

I liked pampers and hated huggies - they leaked everywhere! Didn't try any others as pampers were fine with us! Some people rate tesco ones!

YellowWellies · 03/07/2014 18:42

Tescos ones are awesome too!

ohthegoats · 03/07/2014 18:46

Bit of a reality check at the hospital today. Normally I go straight through to the consultant unit at the top, but today had to do some faffing on other floors, at which point I ran into quite a lot of blokes with partners in labour - they all looked terrified! "Apparently we've got 5 hours to go... " and "I've just been sent off for walk, I don't care what floor you press on the lift". Also quite a few little babies being rolled around in cots by mothers in slippers. Could also actually hear baby cries for the first time ever in a women's unit.

Had a bit of a wobble in the lift - ha.

fedupofrainydays · 03/07/2014 19:01

Quote man at work "wow, how did you get suddenly SO pregnant" polite way of saying how huge I am!!

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 03/07/2014 19:02

That's great news gun & goats, hope its put your minds at ease Smile

Lets hope none of us get a dreaded back to back labour crosses fingers, toes & everything else

YellowWellies · 03/07/2014 19:25

30% of labours are and there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst is my view. I'm assuming I'll have another B2B and if it is will give it a shot and then just ask for an epidural if the contractions get like last time. My pal's sister did incredibly well to birth her boy naturally - without forceps or ventouse, most B2B need help as babies aren't designed to come out that way.

Kirstipops · 03/07/2014 19:26

Eeeh goats that sounds a like bit of an emotional adventure, bless the guy who was sent off for a walk haha!

And congrats to your friend's sister Yellow, sounds like a v tough time she had of it!! Although I will prob be one of the first to "go" being due in late September I'm so nosy to find out how other natal-hypnotherapy ladies get on if they go before me!!

Just wanted to say thank you for lovely messages earlier this week, really cheered me up. This thread is great in all the emotional support we give each other. Joints are slowly getting back to a normal and can even do things around the house, but stil avoiding ironing! Jealous of those who are exercising, clearly stopped since the fall but not great in the heat anyway. mum hope you are ok after your slip?

9 days and I am back in the uk for a visit- mega excited. Top of the to do list id fish and chips and John Lewis! Body occassionally craves fat, but this stupid State doesnt sell meat with fat, even butter and milk are heavily skimmed. But all bread is heavily sweetened making it like cake or worse, hence a very restricted and bland diet!

Those of you who are struggling with the heat, work, children, renovations, good luck- that all hassels end smoothly soon. I only have the heat to deal with so feel for you who are working, commuting etc in it, I am a hermit!

fedupofrainydays · 03/07/2014 20:14

All 3 of my sisters were b2b. With her second she said the pain was so bad she wanted to shoot herself!! I think she actually asked for a gun at one point! There wasn't enough time for an epidural as anesthetist took 2 hours to get to her by when was too far dilated. Her first was forceps and epidural, the other two no drugs and no assistance!

Her story freaked me out so I asked for epidural as soon as I was admitted to labour ward (6cm) but needed to push as soon as I got it so pretty much just got one in the nick
Of time! It didn't work that well but did take the edge off the pain but ds was stuck so needed some turning help
And ventouse after two hours of pushing so very glad I had it!

YellowWellies · 03/07/2014 20:15

Kirsti I think the trick is to keep an open mind - and remember not to feel a failure if you need help. I love lots of the natural birthing technique books but some of them do imply you can deep breathe through anything and that intervention is always some sort of failure that could have been avoided if only a women had done x or y. Which is bollocks. Sometimes shit happens - cords round necks, haemorrages, shoulder dystochia etc, and modern medicine can step in to save what would historically have maybe been an infant or maternal death.
