£30 for a changing mat! Wow what a rip off. Our £5 asda changing mat from 3 years ago is still going strong.

Spent most of the day with OH tidying and cleaning (only managed half the house) back is aching now. But I lest I found my old tens machine, glad I didn't sell it as I had planned to.

We've hardly bought anything for baby yet! Just a few clothes and put a deposit down on car seat in mothercare.
I meant to buy some extra pillows today as I'm so uncomfortable in bed but I forgot!

YellowWellies · 29/06/2014 19:22

I've found I sleep so much better on DHs pillows Blush . He officially let me have them last night. Bar one toddler bad dream I slept so much better.

mum2kiss · 29/06/2014 19:49

george I've been getting braxtons hicks for about 8 weeks now...They literally take my breath away...One thing I do know is that dehydration can bring them all so when I get one I usually think "how much have you drunk today?" And it's usually not a lot so I go and drink a pint of water and that seems to calm them down a bit!

binkybunny · 29/06/2014 19:54

Oh I didnt realise changing mats were so cheap! The one I was going to get was 20 anyway as it matches the nursery but this kind of matches and has an activity bar with rattles and things... Thats my justification esp to DH :-)

Just spent the afternoon at Edinburgh Zoo and my feet, back, bump and legs are killing me. Also struggling with being out of breath and feeling faint. I didnt realise the zoo was on such a hill!

ohthegoats · 29/06/2014 19:59

I think I had one BH about a month ago. A day when I'd been working quite hard in the garden, so also could be about dehydration. Nothing since though.

I'm now worrying that my bump is small, and therefore baby will be small. School fete today, and all mums looking surprised when I said I was 27 weeks. "Oh, we didn't even know you were pregnant.. " looking at my bump. Also I tried to measure it this morning, and there is no way it's 7cm above my belly button. Growth scan on Thursday, but still.

YellowWellies · 29/06/2014 20:11

Goats if you're long in the torso or broad - then the bump will appear neater. It might be the baby or the placenta's position. There's lots of reasons. And if baby is wee they're wee - there's nothing you can do about it other than ensure you're eating well and not overexercising. The docs will want to know but they won't be scared if you're measuring a few weeks behind. Don't stress Thanks

Binky my sister and I call that hill induction hill. We went the day before she went into prem labour and slogged our arses and pushchair up the hill in 25c heat. And still missed the turn off for the fecking tigers!!! She was terrified history was going to repeat itself when we went a few weeks ago! Smile Obviously it didn't!

Kirstipops · 29/06/2014 20:39

yellow oh god I'm going to panic at every twinge tomorrow thinking I'm going into prem labour Shock Grin

ohthegoats · 29/06/2014 20:55

I'm really short (5ft), and in terms of bone structure, am petit. I've got lard on the bone structure, but am all round pretty small. I just think we do small babies in my family, both my nephews were under 6lbs at full/more than term. I was 6lbs when I was born too, although I was a bit early.

gunwalloe · 29/06/2014 21:01

Im still in my normal clothes with no bump unless I lay down. Stupid thing is I know I don't show and that being tall with a wide pelvis theres loads of hiding room but all these stupid growth scans and charts are starting to make me question myself I will be glad once we get the first growth scan done this week Hmm

YellowWellies · 29/06/2014 21:04

Binky I did it pushing an 18 month old in a buggy and got not a twinge. Honestly you'll be fine. My sister also has a hair mouse containing sandalwood, tandem BF, food poisoning, eating too spicy a curry and a million and one other culprits of things she did that she uses to beat herself up with as to what she could have done to trigger early labour. If you have a prem you just do. But usually there is no rhyme or reason. Induction hill didn't cause labour - the name is just a wry joke.

puppythedog · 29/06/2014 21:12

Any suggestions for mat rain macs? Mrsthedog will need a new one :-)

gunwalloe · 29/06/2014 21:16

goats my uterus is only just over my belly button and im 27 weeks to. I never had any of this measuring business with my other 4 just a kick chart which they don't do anymore I wish it had stayed that way.

bumpbangbump · 29/06/2014 21:16

Sorry puppy but that is rather pessimistic!! It is not going to rain this summer...

YellowWellies · 29/06/2014 21:16

Puppy hmm I'm not sure maybe JoJo Maman? I just used an old non maternity mac (which I couldn't fasten) and a brolly. Or a non maternity swing mac maybe?

One of the reasons I'm glad not to be preggers over winter is avoiding buying a maternity winter coat as they're v pricey. I'll have to borrow DHs coat for October if its cold I reckon.

porcito · 29/06/2014 21:17

As well goats, from my experience, most people who feel the need to comment don't actually have any idea what a 27 week bump looks like. I'm 26.5 and some days people make the ever hilarious 'sure it's only one' joke, and other days people give me the 'is she pregnant or just too much cheese' squint. My bump isn't even close to 7cm above the belly either and she was measuring spot on last week, just lying in a strange position.

YellowWellies · 29/06/2014 21:41

I honestly couldn't remember how big I was at 27 weeks last time. As Porcito says lots of folks just say what they think you want to hear.

I bought this mac for 30 quid about 3 months ago, it's been ace - now reduced even more.

ohthegoats · 29/06/2014 22:34

My coats were the only things to clearly not fit, other than that coat I've got two of their wrap dresses for work, have holes for breastfeeding afterwards too. That's it for mat clothes.

I've just turned down a second offer for a baby shower ( different people from the first offer) - I feel really uncomfortable celebrating something that hasn't happened yet! Is anyone else having one?

ExcitedCJ · 30/06/2014 06:55

Mums to toddlers... Please help. I am hanging on to sanity by a thread. Since I potty trained my DD she has been waking up at 5:30 am! :( She obviously got the concept too well as she is pretty dry & says she needs the loo. That would be OK if she went back to sleep easily but she thinks it's time to get up! I have just spent from 5:40am until 6:35 am lying on the floor in her room trying to get her back to sleep! She is finally sleeping, the only thing that saved me was the clock in her room which shows stars at night & sun in morning. She used to sleep from 7:30 pm to 7am & mostly be a delight to be around. Now she sleeps from 8pm to 5:30am & is turning into a tantrum prone lunatic! I'm not sure what to do! Can't cope with this very well with a full time job & a 25 week bump kicking me awake through the night! :( Any advice?

fedupofrainydays · 30/06/2014 06:57

Re rain macs - I just use my current one and don't do the buttons up (as can't) or just the top one so it's like a home made swing coat! With an umbrella I don't get overly wet.

Talking of rain. Noticed some water marks on our landing ceiling so our roof is leaking. Builders took the tiles off ages ago but not actually started on the roof yet as new tiles not arrived. Angry they haven't sealed it off properly. Be prepared for the moody pregnant lady when you rock up at 7.30 this morn. On the plus side - it means I get to have it all painted afterwards - DH was claiming that we didn't need it done. Hurrah!

ExcitedCJ · 30/06/2014 07:51

For the sake of all that is holy! My Mum started clashing round the house at 7:10am and woke her up again!!! AFTER I LAY ON HER FLOOR FOR AN HOUR!!!! I'm so exhausted & angry!
I then spoke to my husband who basically blamed me as she had a teaspoon of ice cream after her dinner last night! I'm ready to run away! Now I have to get up & go to work! :(
There is nothing different in her routine, she doesn't have anything waking her (apart from my Mum this morning), the room has black out blinds so it's not the sun. She was outside all day yesterday so should be tired. She ate a great roast chicken dinner, so it can't be hunger. At wits end!

CellyD · 30/06/2014 08:29

Excited sorry you've had a crappy night. I've spent many an hour on the floor outside DD's room persuading her to go back to sleep as 'it's still sleepy time...'

A pre-emptive strike might work? If your DD's bladder is full by 5.30am so she needs to get up for the toilet or potty, how about putting her on the toilet or potty at 11pm / midnight or whenever you're about to go to bed? It may mean she doesn't need to wake up for a toilet trip at 5.30am? Of course, you might still have the pleasure of the 5.30 start for a couple of days until you ease her out of the unfortunate new routine she's adopted. We sometimes do the pre-emptive strike with our 3 year old DD at about 11pm, we plonk her on the potty or toilet, she usually manages to go without waking up.

Other more experienced Mums may have better suggestions. Good luck that you find a more useful approach than your DH's it's your fault and your problem Shock.

fedupofrainydays · 30/06/2014 09:10

Does she still have milk at night?

My ds isn't potty trained (we are trying) so still wears nappy at night. But can imagine the calls of "I need a wee wee"

Could she use the potty if in on her room herself? How old is your dd? Otherwise I think I too would suggest putting her on the loo when you and other half go to bed to hope she will go longer than 5.30.

Or persevere with the chat about the sun / stars and even if she needs a wee before the sun comes up then she must go back to sleep til it does. Use rewards! aka bribes only thing that works with ds, couldn't give two hoots about stickers!

mrsb87 · 30/06/2014 09:17

Ugh, feel ruddy awful today. After a night of being awake being sick, feeling sick or being attacked from the inside out I've called in sick. No workies for me today. I really hope this isn't hyperemesis rearing it's ugly head in time for 3rd trimester Sad
