Wow 5 miles a day walking while pregnant? I did 2 the other day and could barely move for the pain in my lower back and hips, although I had been on my feet all day before.

I'm usually really active and my exercise has come to a virtual standstill. I promised myself as soon as morning sickness was over I'd get back to it but apart from a few small hill walks and a few riverside walks I've hardly done anything as I have such a sore back and hips.

Must start aquanatal classes next week!

fedupofrainydays · 24/06/2014 07:10

I think this is my last baby too. Am going for a baby nest type thing - maybe not that specific one but similar. And that's it. They could sleep in there in the day too, right?!
Then as I'm going to be out and about with ds so much am going for sleeping in the ergo carrier or buggy when I get one. Or his baby bjorn chair. Unless you have a real reflux we I'm not sure the cocoon baby is worth it for a couple of months - unless that was your night time sleeping vessel too?
Ds had colic and mild reflux and we did use a wedge and propped up cot on books. Didn't know then that there were special beds!

I have a 20 min walk in the mornings to the station. Getting harder and keep getting stitch / pain low down. Ugh. And now annoying shiny suit business man sat next to me and spreading his FT in my face and leaning over me with his coffee. Hate space invaders!

BingoBango85 · 24/06/2014 07:40

I think wauwaa.com have a sale on at the minute that includes baby cocoon

Kirstipops · 24/06/2014 08:05

Sorry you're having such a rough time of it George, I hadn't known about UTIs affecting pregnancy until reading yellow and portico's posts, (this thread really is as good as a book in some ways!), yet they seem to be quite common!

5 miles a day, eep. I thought I was doing well with my 2.5-3ish. I've had swollen feet and ankles for the last 2-3 weeks so wasn't sure if I should let it affect my activity but midwife said yesterday just to carry on as normal but remember to put my feet up at the end of the day. Pilates has been a godsend though, having less back and hip pain than I'd been having before.

Wrote to my consultant yesterday about flying with low-lying placenta at 26 weeks. Was expecting a breezy response but instead was told to come in for a prematurity risk assessment!

tak1ngchances · 24/06/2014 08:25

PS just got a cotton newborn starter pack of 10 items in the M&S sale for £8

Loulou888 · 24/06/2014 09:31

I've got a midwife appointment tomorrow at 23 weeks. I asked at my last appointment if i could have a check up with the doctor before we go away on Saturday and she just said you can see me. The appointments aren't set in stone so if you don't want to wait until 28 weeks then it's def worth asking.

Feeling huge and uncomfortable in the heat esp in the evening. Baby feels low down having to wee constantly as he/she feels like they are kicking my bladder.

Am getting anxious that this baby will have colic like my other two. It's so awful to experience. yellow if you change your diet to dairy free does the colic go away pretty much straight away?

YellowWellies · 24/06/2014 09:42

Loulou dairy takes 2-3 weeks to leave your system and the same to leave theirs. So you see the full impact after 4-6 weeks but we noticed an 80% improvement in 3 days. Within a fortnight the colic was gone. He needed reflux meds as well (omeprazole) as the sphincter at the top of his tum was weak. If this little one shows symptoms I'm going to exclude dairy and soya as J reacted to both. I'm going to stop drinking cows milk, and really cut down on eating cheese and butter as soon as they're born and just try to keep in traces, if they react I'll cut all traces.

Loulou888 · 24/06/2014 09:48

That sounds sensible I think I will try to stop drinking milk too when here, I don't really eat cheese or butter. Fingers crossed these babies don't react.

YellowWellies · 24/06/2014 10:08

Yeah for me milk and butter isn't a hardship - its the cheese and dairy traces that's hardest as that rules out loads of baked goods and pizza. I hope at least I can keep soy in so I can have a Chinese.

mum2kiss · 24/06/2014 10:26

I've been almost completely dairy free for about a month now...I am still eating products that say "may contain traces of milk" but I've cut out milk, butter, cheese etc...I've had the odd shortbread biscuit and a couple of doughnuts so as not to eliminate milk entirely though! Really hoping this saves me from the weeks of evening time screaming when the baby is born! I will continue on this until we finish breath feeding.

I ordered school uniform on m&s last night but didn't check out the baby stuff!

mum2kiss · 24/06/2014 10:36

Yay just got 2 of the starter sets for £8 each...not sure yet if I need 2 but figured it would do no harm. To have 2 hats and 2 sets of mittens ;)

tak1ngchances · 24/06/2014 10:42

Me too mum2, I got a newborn and a 0-3 size. I wanted the grey but all sold out so I got plain white.

Loulou888 · 24/06/2014 10:49

I got the kids uniform too mum

Yes anything to try and avoid a screaming baby every evening. They think that's what caused ds hernia :(

mum2kiss · 24/06/2014 11:02

My Dd had an umbilical hernia although I noticed it the day after birth so she hadn't had time to start screaming yet! She ended up having 2 surgeries on it...

Yeah I got the white ones too...I got 2 newborn as I find people tend to buy the bigger sizes as gifts...hopefully the same will happen this time!

mum2kiss · 24/06/2014 13:11

:( seem to be getting back ache more and more in recent days as my bump continues to expand. It's like it's pulling right in the centre of my back. My walking pace seems to have slowed to a shuffle too! How will I make it to mid October?! Roll on the summer holidays please!

ohthegoats · 24/06/2014 14:41

I'm in the same state mum2kiss - sitting hurts in almost all different chair options I have. I even sat on the ball yesterday and it hurt after awhile. I just ordered a yoga/pilates DVD. This has only started hurting in the last 4 days, but if it's a sign of things to come then I need to do anything I can to stop it - backache makes me really grumpy!

Kirstipops · 24/06/2014 15:03

Hope it does the trick for you goats, I know you'd said its not really your thing but its really made a difference for me.

I just don't want to go to yoga classes. I used to go to Body Balance, but that was much 'more' than just yoga.. even then I used to get bored, only went because my friends did and it carried straight on from Pump. The classes here are an hour and a quarter long (yawn), and cost £11 each. I already pay a gym membership (which only does antenatal stuff during the working day), so didn't want to pay any extra either. I reckon a DVD, which means I can do 20 minutes here and there might be alright though. And obviously it's much, much cheaper.

I'm wondering if t'ai chi might be a go-er. I quite like that for other reasons. I was going to go to pump tonight, having not been for a month or so, just to give my legs a bit of a workout, but I feel like someone has jabbed a skewer in my pelvis, so probably won't!

Ooft £8 and £11 is crazy money, but then I'm pretty tight when it comes to that, I'd rather just shell out for a DVD I can do at home every time! Pilates has been really good for building my strength and flexibility, it's quite invigorating really.
