Pps. Talking about when not pregnant of course re hangover!!! Grin

YellowWellies · 23/06/2014 15:32

Fed up funny how it differs around the UK - here in second pregnancy you don't see anyone from booking in at 8 weeks to 22 weeks (other than 20 week scan). A 14 week gap! Next one is at 28 weeks.

ohthegoats · 23/06/2014 16:13

Seriously, are there any situations where it could be said that a baby is moving around TOO much? Small has been going nuts since about 9pm last night, almost constantly - it's making me feel really sick now. Not to mention the number of times I've had to run off for a wee before I accidentally wet myself in class.

YellowWellies · 23/06/2014 16:20

Goats I know later on in pregnancy it can be a sign of distress but I don't know at this stage, I've not heard of it being a worry before the last trimester - call your MW if its a dramatic change from what's normal for your baby or if its stressing you. And don't stress that a hyper baby in utero means you'll have a hyper child. Jonas was a super calm bub, barely moving when inside. As soon as he was out and moving he was an utterly mischievous mountain goat into and climbing on everything Confused .

ohthegoats · 23/06/2014 16:28

All google searches say it's normal. 26 weeks.. I'm wondering if it's just suddenly starting to stretch out a bit. In earlier scans it's been happily lazy. I've got a scan a week on Thursday, so will just ask then if I'm still worrying about it/not sleeping at all. Am going swimming just before I go to bed tonight, that usually slows it down a bit.

gunwalloe · 23/06/2014 16:42

I just got hubby to have a measure of the bump I'm 26 weeks and it's measuring 23 cms at this rate I won't get out of my normal clothes.
What are all your current bump measurements?

YellowWellies · 23/06/2014 16:53

Gun I'm 25 at 22 weeks. Eeek Confused

porcito · 23/06/2014 17:28

Thanks everyone, it's so good to have other people to panic to! DP was as unworried as ever ('oh, my back hurts too, it could be the mattress'. Yes. It's the exact same thing.) Feeling much better today after the scan.

eek yellow, they said it might come early, hopefully not toooo early or it will have to sleep in a shoe or something. Definitely glad I went to be checked though, so thanks.

goats, the past couple of weeks mine has been moving like some kind of maniac (until Saturday, when I panicked). I've been eating A LOT of sugar though, and fruit, don't know if that affects movement?

Yesterday the triage nurse asked me what method of contraception I was using. As I sat there clutching my giant 25 week belly. Either she's had eyesight trouble or she was just looking for what method to avoid!

porcito · 23/06/2014 17:37

yellow the ladies here seemed to think that horse was for a girl, train for a boy. But they also think it's appropriate to tell hormonal pregnant woman how fat their hips are getting, so I don't know if they're right!

ohthegoats · 23/06/2014 17:46

Hahaha.. I think our blokes share a brain porcito. Yesterday I was told that I was aching because I'm not doing enough - apparently I 'should really be swimming every other day', by a man who hasn't used his gym membership at all this month. I swam yesterday. And the day before.

Pinkie2103 · 23/06/2014 17:48

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of a 'Poddle Pod'.

www.poddlepod.com

I have been looking at the Cocoonababy Nest but they are soooo expensive (and I missed out/get fed up bidding on eBay) but wondered if this might be a good alternative during the day (I understand they are not suitable for night)

We'll be moving back overseas in the New Year so I don't want to spend a fortune (or add to my ever growing list of items I'll need to sell) but as my son hated his rocker/bouncer and only slept on me for the first few weeks I thought this might be a good idea

(and Bounty have an offer on too! www.bounty.com/bountyoffers/offer/exclusive-original-poddle-pod-package-toddle-pod-package)

YellowWellies · 23/06/2014 17:54

Pinkie when J was wee and napping in the same room as me and when I needed him not to nap on me - I used to make a nest of cushions to keep him safe. It looks the same principle as that. I'm toying with the cocoonababy but agree the price is Shock Shock Shock Shock . A Moses basket is pointless for us as I bet we get another refluxer who can't be laid flat Confused

Pinkie2103 · 23/06/2014 18:06

Thanks YellowWellies! Yep, Moses basket is pointless for us too, I have a second hand crib for upstairs but not sure about that either.

What I did like about the Poddle Pod (which seems a little smaller than the cocoonababy) is that some people have taken it on flights and had their baby sleep on it. Having flown from Sydney to the UK on my own when my son was 5 months (we had a bassinet but he hated it so slept on me/fed the entire flight) I like that idea immensely!

mum2kiss · 23/06/2014 18:25

I saw some sort of wedge the other day that is supposed to.go under mattress to help with reflux. Did you try anything like that, yellow, and did it help?!

Also the advice to walk 5 miles a day...surely that can't be right?! With my pgp I'd be in a wheel chair for sure, but it sounds like too much even without pgp!

mum2kiss · 23/06/2014 18:29

We had something similar to this for dc1

m.direct.asda.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-ASDA-Site/default/Product-Show?pid=002672084

It came from vertbaudet though and had a mesh insect net so you could use it in the garden/park. We used it downstairs during the day...not too sure why I haven't just decided to do that again this time lol!

YellowWellies · 23/06/2014 18:45

Mum2 I suppose given you're meant to walk 6-7 miles a day when not preggers, 5 miles would be about right (its about 10,000 steps on a pedometer). I've done 14,000 steps today - 7 miles (because I kept forgetting stuff!) and am beat. Am sure if you've PGP

YellowWellies · 23/06/2014 18:49

Argh toddler pressed post...

if you've got PGP walking such distances is a no-no!

We tried a reflux wedge in his cot but he kept slithering down. We found the bednest great as you can tilt it. We tilt his big cot by propping one end up on books. I'm tempted by the poddlepod and the cocoonababy. Can't decide if the latter is worth the big jump in price Hmm

Kirstipops · 23/06/2014 18:49

I'm 26 weeks and today at my hospital check my bump is measuring...26 weeks. Also looked at my notes last night at the mention of centiles (which I had to Google) and at my 20 wk scan the abdomen was measured in 50th centile, feeling oh so average!
Bump measures 43" round, with my bottom doing its damnedest to catch up Blush...my milk factory will indeed be well stocked...
Glad they're keeping an eye on you porcito.
Goats your weekend sounded magic! Bump has been v active today for me since about 7am. Midwife was able to gauge baby's position too (for now), she reckoned head down and bum and feet up, which explains why I don't feel much low down at the moment, I think its using my anterior placenta as a pillow or something.

mum2kiss · 23/06/2014 19:09

Oh I see yellow...I thought you meant an additional specific 5 mile walk per day! I've got a pedometer on my phone and it's been register about 5000 steps per day but that's since I re - jigged my life to minimal walking to ease pgp pain!

Kirstipops · 23/06/2014 19:35

Meant to add, thanks girls for advice re: the Dublin wedding plans, I wasn't sure if I was just being a bit of a wet blanket about leaving baby behind for a night or two! I've found a reasonably priced cottage and my mum and dad are up for it too, yay :)

mum2kiss · 23/06/2014 20:07

That's great kirsti :) now you can relax

ohthegoats · 23/06/2014 20:10

If I walked 5 miles a day I'd be on my knees by 7pm. I stand up most of the day, and do walk around a fair bit at work, but if I've done a significant walk, I ache like a git and have to lie down. I don't have any specific pain, it just aches all over - 'bone tired' my mum would call it I think. Conversely, if I swim or cycle, I feel quite good about doing exercise and it doesn't make me any more tired.

Georgebythesea · 23/06/2014 22:03

I went to see the triage people at the hospital this evening.Baby seems fine but there was lots of White cells in my urine which along with the pains indicate a UTI(despite no other symptoms)so have to take Cefalexin antibiotics.Boo Feels like one thing after another with all the bad sickness I've had.Has anyone had UTIs/taken antibiotics in this/previous pregnancies? Apparently it can be quite dangerous if you don't get it cleared up.

STIGZ · 23/06/2014 22:26

I am so confused as what to buy for baba's sleeping arrangments... I have moses basket but dd1 didnt like it all .. Infact she didnt really settle in anything at all due to reflux so ended up co-sleeping which i dont want to do this time!!

I have looked at cocoonababy, nests, pods, co sleep crib things etc??? Please somone give me some advice! Im so confused ... Should i just try using the pram or buy a crib or put one of those nest/pod things into the big cot ? ..i just want to make a descion .. But cant decide whats the best option & dont want to waste money on things if i dont have too! (Probz be my last baby) :(

YellowWellies · 23/06/2014 22:47

I'd get a bed nest for nights. Great for a comfort feeding reflux hell phase. Baby can be tilted more upright to minimise pain, you're asleep right next to them so they get the closeness of co sleeping but are used to their own wee bed (the transition to cot was painless for us) if they are comfort feeding constantly you don't need get out of bed and you get a great resale price on eBay.

Daytime I have the same dilemma....
