Agh, just thinking about logistics of stuff like that is hurting my head. I just had a weekend away with my parents - hopped on a train on Friday night with an overnight bag, sat around all weekend working (which was what I desperately needed to do), interspersed with getting in the swimming pool and sitting on the balcony, then read an entire book last night. Whilst leaving this afternoon I had a massive emotional moment about that being the last time I'll be able to just do that spontaneously and spend time with them without other people in tow. I'm sure it won't be actually, boyfriend will be able to look after a kid for two whole nights, but still.. got all nostalgic or something.

YellowWellies · 22/06/2014 22:18

I find a wee glass of tonic before bed (with a slice you can always con yourself its a G&T) is great for preventing cramps or a banana too. A wee glass 2-3 times a week is fine as the quinine levels are well beneath anything worrying Smile

gunwalloe · 22/06/2014 22:19

Night cramps for me to in right leg :(

fedupofrainydays · 22/06/2014 22:25

goats I felt like that when I got married!! Grin

YellowWellies · 22/06/2014 22:55

Goats that does sound rather lovely. At 20 months we've yet to have a weekend away without him. Its less of a wrench than you'd think. Without family close its not feasible but certainly for the first year the thought of sleeping under a different roof from him, not being there for him, would have made me fret. And I was the most freespirited wanderlusty soul pre kids!

porcito · 23/06/2014 00:12

Sounds like a lovely weekend goats! And congrats fedup, loved that moment!

I went to the free clinic again today, where they decided it was an infection which was triggering contractions, eek. I had just assumed it was pain from my kidneys or something.

Anyway, they sent me to the main hospital, where they monitored me etc., and found the cord around the baby's neck, which they were worried about, and thought that's why she's not moving as much over the last day or two. So, long story short, got lots of meds for the infection and to calm my overexcited uterus, a few days of bed rest a specialist ultrasound tomorrow to check the cord. I'm trying not to google so I don't freak myself out, but the doctor didn't seem too worried so trying to just relax.

Thanks to everyone for the advice, glad I went! and for once glad I wasn't just being a paranoid mess about baby's movements!

binkybunny · 23/06/2014 06:55

Hi all just catching up after the weekend. Had a crazy one. We were at the Kings of Leon gig on Friday night then all day at the Highland show Sat. Even though I did v little yesterday I still feel like I've been run over by a bus this morning and will be late for work if I dont drag myself out of this bed!

Finding pregnancy sooo much harder than expected. Sore back, hips, hesrtburn, cramps and its lovely feeling the baby moving but she literally didnt stop kicking and twisting around yesterday so also feel bruised from the inside :-(

binkybunny · 23/06/2014 06:57

portico hope alls well with you after a few days with your feet up and dont Google it wont help!!!

fedupofrainydays · 23/06/2014 07:08

Phew porcito! Glad you went and it's all sorted now. Same happened to a friend of mine at 30 weeks. Hospital gave her steroids to stop labour. She had an infection but didn't know it. Rather scary really!

ohthegoats · 23/06/2014 07:09

Blimey porcito! See, never take my advice! Hope it all calms down.

'Small' has been going nuts here too binky - like constant spinning around. Had me wondering worrying about reasons why. It gave boyfriend a bit of a reality check when he felt it, in terms of 'how on earth do you sleep with that going on?' Yeah, EXACTLY!!

fedupofrainydays · 23/06/2014 07:10

And hope the cord issue doesn't present any probs going forward.

fedupofrainydays · 23/06/2014 07:11

I suppose there are some bonuses of the anterior placenta! You get bashed a lot less!! (Or just can't feel it!)

ohthegoats · 23/06/2014 07:42

I allegedly have an anterior placenta too. And it's definitely still breech for the majority of its time, even if it spins around a lot too. All kicks are really low down.

YellowWellies · 23/06/2014 08:11

Porcito I had an irritated uterus and contractions from 22 weeks, with drugs I managed to avoid full labour til 35+6. It might be you go a couple of weeks early but don't worry (missing the last few weeks of pregnancy is a blessing! as Binky says pregnancy is hard and the end of the last trimester is physically horrible). I think the cord issues are not unusual at this stage and usually resolve naturally - they'd be more worried if baby was bigger. Just take care. Am so glad you're in the right place xx

fedupofrainydays · 23/06/2014 08:21

Yes goats but the low down ones are where the placenta isn't! All my kicks are low down too and really uncomfy like it's punching my cervix and bladder!!

Not sure when is a good time to start going on all fours / using that gym ball to try and get them to turn!! Ds was back to back and they said that might help - it didn't!! Well, sort of did!

YellowWellies · 23/06/2014 10:06

Fed up when my niece was being delivered by an EMCS at 27 weeks the obstetricians watched her do a running somersault in utero - there's too much empty space for them to change position at this stage to try to get them in the position you want. I think I was recommended to do the exercises from 33 weeks. He was perfectly positioned from then until my waters broke so I wonder if back to back was the only way he could come out. Fingers crossed things errr, are more roomy this time or I get a baby with a better sense of direction!

YellowWellies · 23/06/2014 10:40

Apparently the best thing you can do at this stage is walking, as gravity pulls the heaviest bit of baby - the head, down. They recommend 5 miles a day for as long as you can manage Shock . I'm just about managing that at the mo - I didn't manage a fraction of it last time, as we were so car dependent on the island.

Georgebythesea · 23/06/2014 10:43

Has anyone else had bad pain on the right hand side around the rib area radiating from front to back? It could just be stretching pains but it's been very distressing at points so wondering if I should go and get it checked out.I've looked online and they are also symptoms of gallstones or preeclampsia(though I haven't got any other symptoms for that so unlikely). It's probably just everything getting squashed....

tak1ngchances · 23/06/2014 11:46

george I got right side pain but low down and that was round ligament pain and the glorious trapped wind. I haven't had anything like you're describing, maybe call your midwife to see if you need to get checked out?

YellowWellies · 23/06/2014 12:05

It sounds a bit like the gallbladder pain I had last time - the docs didn't do anything but maybe get it checked Georgee?

fatpony · 23/06/2014 13:16

re cramp I had some bad ones in my calf muscles during the night a few weeks ago but drank some coconut water and haven't had them since. I read coconut water is good for it - problem is I don't like the taste so haven't had any since!

mum2kiss · 23/06/2014 13:28

Ooh didn't know that about coconut water...I don't like the taste either but if it gets rid of cramp...

portico I'm glad you went in. I would have been at a&e if I had blood and back pain but I am always quick to seek medical attention!

I remember being told that a cord around the neck is only concerning at the point of delivery as that is when it could potentially be pulled. Definitely good that they are keeping an eye on it though.

YellowWellies · 23/06/2014 14:55

Just had my 22 week check. I'm measuring 3 weeks ahead. Eekk! Am telling myself that a big baby is good if I stick to the family tradition of early delivery Confused . Heartbeat was good - it sounded like a horse. What does that indicate according to the old wives tale?

fedupofrainydays · 23/06/2014 15:16

I just went to the midwife to pick up mat b1 form. Stupidly with second baby you don't see a mw between 16 and 28 weeks! So I phoned up and asked for it. She said pop down so I did and I asked her to listen for HB whilst I was there and she did. Took a while to find but did but baby kept moving. No idea what it sounded like but she said all fine and normal so will take that! Plus ds was threatening to empty out the cupboards full or urine pots and syringes!

fedupofrainydays · 23/06/2014 15:17

Ps I drink coconut water when hungover sometimes to replace lost nutrients so can see why it has same effect as bananas!
