My day has got lots better, love a wee visit from my dad, cheers me up no end Smile

fancyacupoftea · 15/06/2014 17:10

I had tuna and onion mayonnaise jacket potato for lunch followed by cheese and onion french fries crisps.

Another penis dragon a/n trend has set off!

fancyacupoftea · 15/06/2014 17:11

Oh no Barmy how tall are you? Where did you look? I'm worried I'll have this problem.

lindamagoo · 15/06/2014 17:16

It's ridiculous trying to find maternity jeans/trousers, I've always gave in and bought long ones and just took them up, I'm a 29" leg and can't even get normal jeans around here in my size, none of our clothes shops do maternity either so I have to go on bus trips to get them Angry

MademoiselleG · 15/06/2014 17:25

Grin At the lactic par talk - good job we all love talking about poo because we're going to be talking about it A LOT more in a few months!

I caved in and got the maternity clothes from the loft. Wore my 'under-the-bump' jeggjngs with a floaty top and I'm in.heaven.com: so comfy! Shame I can't wear jeans for school Hmm only one more week of trying to conceal what people must just be too polite not to mention!

Getting ready for the France game over here: BBQ lit up, beer is flowing, friends will start streaming in shortly...and NO ONE KNOWS!!argh! Thank goodness for 0% Radler!

MademoiselleG · 15/06/2014 17:26

Lactic par? Lactulose!!

MrsBeeBeeBee · 15/06/2014 17:51

frenetic fabulous news about your bloods results. So happy things are looking up.

Not had much chance to catch up with the rest of the thread. Living on next to no sleep today..

6 weeks tomorrow. I remember with DD that's when some waves of nausea set in, although I went by pretty unscathed morning sickness wise!

fancyacupoftea · 15/06/2014 18:17

Fingers crossed you go pretty unscathed this time too MrsBee!

Mademoiselle sounds like a lovely party you're having. I'm looking forward to seeing Thierry Henry being all happy and excited about France playing. I really do love him. I think this calls for a picture.

Linda, glad your day has got better Smile!

Fancy, I am 5"7, but have short legs and a long torso so often struggle with jeans, I generally need 31" jeans which are impossible to find normally let alone in maternity jeans! Not many places seem to sell them in the shops either, and I really find it impossible to buy jeans without trying them on. Silly shops! I hope you have more luck than me.

barmybunting · 15/06/2014 18:37

Sorry fancy, forgot this bit. I looked in mothercare, new look, h&m and red herring in debenhams. Those are the only places which stock mat wear here. Now online looking at next and mamas and papas.

fancyacupoftea · 15/06/2014 18:41

I noticed the Topshop maternity jeans come in different lengths. I think I'll end up ordering them online when I get bigger. 31" is a very difficult length though - how dare you have an odd numbered sized leg length!? Don't you know it has to be EVEN?

PolytheneGirl · 15/06/2014 19:31

I ate a rare steak today and I loved it! Should I feel guilty? SIL looked at me like I was trying to kill my unborn child! I am presuming I've already had toxoplasmosis as I've had cats for years Confused can you get it more than once? I'm clueless.

Just sitting down to watch Secret Life of Babies again!

Fancy you made me lol with your pre-swim pruning!

Post BBQ slob- was sooo good. Even had a mini can of kopparberg cider- only 1 unit and MW said 2-3 units per week won't do any harm. First cider since the night before I found out. It's heaven!
On the poo front I can go several days without so haven't noticed much of a change. Feel sorry for you guys though [oops]
Fox glad you have good test results and look forward to that next scan.

barmybunting · 15/06/2014 19:47

Poly, the gp told me that once you've had it, you are immune so you are safe I reckon. Yum to your steak! Your baby is going to appreciate good good Smile.

Fancy, I know, I really must chop off a bit from one leg and put it on the other so I have an even length of 30" on one side and 32" on the other, that would be much better I think! Mamas and papas also do them in short, medium and long so I have ordered some.

However, I ordered some from mothercare last weekend and DH says I look like a cowboy in them!

DH has excelled himself this evening though, I am very impressed with him. I am meant to be proof reading my reports to hand in tomorrow (so far I have spent more time on mums at than proof reading but oh well!) so he went to sainsburys to find me some non alcoholic prosecco, it is lovely and actually takes like decent wine!

RetroHippy · 15/06/2014 20:07

barmy, what is this non-alcoholic prosecco of which you speak?!? I need to get me some of that!

poly, I am so Envy of your steak. We had roast lamb, which was good, but a little too well done for my liking.

I got caught by DH having a coffee this afternoon Blush I've been desperately wanting a milky, sweet coffee. I carved and had a Nescafé. Tried to explain that it had loads less caffeine than the espresso I usually drink but he still did this Hmm. Guess I need to get myself some decaf, then I can drink as much as I like or just drink it at work

I was expecting to go off coffee. I do like to go against the norm.

fancyacupoftea · 15/06/2014 20:13

I'd cut down since TTC Retro and gave up my daily coffee. I'd also assumed that as preggos go off coffee then I wouldn't want one. Until one day I was so tired I just needed a fix. Like yours it was milky and sweet. And it was the best thing I have ever drunk. I couldn't believe how it just eliminated my slump at work too. Therefore, coffee is brilliant when pregnant. Fact. Sod the haters. Rant over.

The idea of a rare steak made my mouth water. I had a bacon and egg sandwich for tea.

lindamagoo · 15/06/2014 20:19

I totally went off of coffee for weeks there but really fancied one the other day, milky and sweet also, I'm having two every morning now and I feel no guilt Smile

toots123 · 15/06/2014 20:37

Evening!

glad your results were good fox ! :)

linda is thr doppler good? Im 8+5 with dc1. Is it too early to get one? I really fancy buying one and listening away as much as I like.

htbftm · 15/06/2014 20:50

so pleased it went well spotti! I did such a bad job of telling mine and I still regret it! great news for you fox- what a relief!!!

sammyj85 · 15/06/2014 20:54

Well that was an anticlimax. Told the in laws this afternoon in a lovely 'happy father's day, it'll be your last as just parents' to a reply of 'oh'. Then mil started to complain about how being a granny would really make her old. (She's 64 and we're both nearly 30 and married! ) felt like a randy teenager being told off.

On a bit of a downer now. Bloody parents!

lindamagoo · 15/06/2014 20:56

toots I wouldn't buy one yet, I'm 10 weeks and I'm only able to pick up the heart rate for a fleeting second, baby isn't big enough to actually pick up the heartbeat and be able to listen to it yet, think that's another few weeks away still

PolytheneGirl · 15/06/2014 20:59

I'm pretty sure I will have had the old toxoplasmosis at some point over the last 20 odd years but according to the NHS toxoplasmosis page, it's undercooked lamb, pork and venison you need to worry about. It didn't even mention beef! Obviously I only ate it for the iron content Hmm

Retro Roast lamb sounds soooo good! Tell your OH that Poly says you CAN have 2 cups of coffee a day! Plus milk is good for baby!

sammyj, my dad's reaction when I told him today that he was going to be a grandad...? 'Fuck that!'

I had been expecting it, so no great shock. I'm also not expecting him to be a knee-sitting, story-telling, rosy-cheeked grandpa. In fact, if he's anything like he is with me, he'll be seeing them as little as possible.

My step dad however, is just lovely. He's already said he's still getting used to the idea, is taking it very seriously and hopes he's up to the challenge. He's not got kids of his own, and it took him a while to warm up to being a stepdad to DBro and I, but he'll be a bloody brilliant grandad.

sammyj85 · 15/06/2014 21:31

Awww glad you got a positive reaction from dsd, he sounds like a fabulous grandad to be.

just wasn't what I was expecting. My mum is next and that'll cheer me up I'm sure!

PolytheneGirl · 15/06/2014 21:40

I had it with MIL. Initially all happy until the big question "when are you due?" And then she turned "another December birthday! That's it I'm officially moving mine to June. Just another one for me to share with!" I kid you not, she was deadly serious and very rude about it. I've learnt to just ignore her petulance! She's in her 50s for crying out loud.
