I second bf poos smelling non offensive. I found the smell like sweet gone off milk. I will be 38 wks when I finish work, 2 wks holiday and then maternity leave. Ds arrived at 39+ 4 so I may be cutting it a bit fine with a toddler too! !

Kirstipops · 06/06/2014 18:37

I'll be just shy of 37 weeks when I finish up, 13 weeks today, eek!
This relaxin hormone is powerful stuff, my shoulders and upper back have been left frazzled by very arduous tasks like making a stirfry and hanging up washing Hmm

I never got to start mat leave before having J. I had to ring work on the Monday morning and say "I'll not be in my waters have broken". I'm a freelancer and only do two days a week so will probably work right up to it again. With hindsight I realised there's only so much prep you can do and it still hits like a whirlwind. It would be nice to put the mattress protector on BEFORE my waters go this time. Rather than a tsunami across me and DH and the freshly changed sheets!....

Sounds familiar yellow I got up for a wee got back in bed and gush buckets full! They had to break them with ds.

I'm finishing off at 36 weeks but self employed Anyway.

I've been looking at a Clair de lune Moses basket. Found it cheapest for £49 on precious little one (Rrp£65 ) then found it on ebay for £35 plus 6 postage. (No one would price match). Then Found that the ebay seller has a website and free delivery = £35. Rather pleased and it's being delivered next week. Just need to get a stand happy days. It's the dimple cream one. I'm going to get a matching buggy blanket.

YellowWellies · 06/06/2014 20:18

Loulou me too! Well actually the cat woke me at 6am pawing the bedframe next to me and miaowing in my face (something he never does so maybe he knew?) I thought whilst I'm awake I'll go wee. Got back into bed - tsunami. All of my waters. Then contractions. Would have preferred not to have a dry labour with him being back to back. I had no inkling of labour in the days before. Maybe a teensy bloody show the week before but no loss of my mucus plug. Did anyone else (or their pets!) know they were going into labour before they did?

How bizarre clever cat! Ds was back to back was fully dilated an hour before they finally decided to break my waters and he came out!

ohthegoats · 06/06/2014 20:29

I'm working to 38+6. I will however have weels 30 - 36 off to rest/sort my life out a bit.

furryleopard · 06/06/2014 22:37

Tak1ngchances I think you are right about the different generations, I mentioned to my Mum that for two weeks of your pregnancy you're basically not pregnant because of ovulation and they date from the first day of your last period, she didn't believe me! Then she said "well they didn't do that in my day". We've often discussed how much more I know than she ever did because I can just google things!

Grannyapple · 06/06/2014 22:40

I'm thinking I'll be 38 wks when I finish & hopefully two weeks hols with mat leave starting on due date...mines are always late so I'm hoping I'll be well rested ...but with a 3.5 & just over 1 yr old in tow, I'm thinking that's unlikely...

Hoping this one cones v near due date as sis will be down so can help out Grin, before heading back to Scotland for schools starting back after October week...

furryleopard · 06/06/2014 22:42

I'm planning to go off at 38 weeks but I have 4 weeks holiday that I have to take or lose so I'll be having my leaving lunch in the first week of September! I really am looking forward to it already, I'm struggling with my commute now so when it gets really hot and I'm much bigger I will be really struggling.

binkybunny · 06/06/2014 22:46

I'll be 33 weeks with 1 weeks hols. Seem quite early to everyone else but looking forward to me time and coffee with friends before world tips upside down. Cant be bothered working the extra week after hols til the end of my contract!

I've had a sneaky day off today and been into London with boyfriend. We just wandered, lay in the park, went to a gallery, drank wine in a wine bar, had a lovely dinner etc. By the time we started to think about coming home, just the idea of the tube and trains made me want to cry. If I had a long commute with lots of walking, I'd be packing work in at the beginning of the summer holidays. A 15 minute drive is fine though!

ExcitedCJ · 06/06/2014 23:46

I'm going off at 36 wks. I will carry one week holidays to use in Sept & then use holidays right up to EDD.
I was with some colleagues from Sweden last week and they have amazing maternity leave I think it is 420 days at 80% of your annual salary with 480 days in total. In Germany my colleagues get up to 3 yrs at 60 or 70% pay (can't remember which.)
Totally crazy bonkers. I was planning a quick relocation for the next 4 months!

porcito · 07/06/2014 00:27

I'll probably go off at 38 weeks, depending how giant I am and how terrible I feel. Same as goats, I will have just had 5 weeks of long holiday to sit around on my sofa some more prepare the new house for the baby.

binkybunny · 07/06/2014 06:43

Car seat shopping today!

Had a look online and it looks like 0+ 1 seats are most cost effective but they don't have carry handles like the 0+. I presume they are too heavy.

Any recomnendations on whether to get a 0+ tobe able to carry the baby in then replace in 4-6 months or a 0+1?

Or am I completely wrong?!

YellowWellies · 07/06/2014 07:32

Binky our 0+ lasted nearly a year. Then he moved straight into a britax ERF that'll last him another two. TBH even the 0+ seats are so heavy, once the baby is a decent weight you can't go lugging them round. Also baby shouldn't be in the seat longer than 2 hours a day - so whilst loads of folks seem to let their kid nap in it all day, I wouldn't. It's a SIDS risk, effects their spines and if they have reflux they scream like buggery in the things anyway!

Sorry I haven't been on for a while. I stopped with ds1 at 39, ds2 at 38& with these twins I'll be stopping at 27&then have 6 weeks holiday. I thought that seemed early but SPD is already making the commute a nightmare and I look more like 8 months than 5!

Had scan, all well-we could see them kicking each other! Decided not to find out sex but dh is itching to know so I may crack under pressure before the next scan at 24 weeks.

Me23 · 07/06/2014 08:34

This thread moves so fast I can't keep up! Glad to hear of all the good scans :-)

Re mat leave I'll be going early around 31 weeks but with a few weeks holiday before then. I'm so exhausted I never have a good nights sleep, I can barely function, I go to work come home sort kids out put to bed then I go to bed I have no energy to do anything else my house is a right state and Dp does equal share probably more but works ft too and it takes a lot to sort house kids.
Plus I'm due to start on delivery suite in a few weeks there no way I will be able to be on my feet for 13 hours and do nights.

I've been invited to a wedding mid august (child free no less a mn fave ;-) ) it will be outside as well I'm not good in the heat nevermind at 32 weeks pregnant so I'm not going to go plus the fact would have to leave dc with mil who had never looked after them before and not the most observant around them! I.e doesn't notice if Ds is about to fall or doing something dangerou. So I'd be worrying all day anyway.

I'm having second thoughts about my pram I put deposit on mamas and papas urbo2 but now think it too expensive. I have seen a baby jogger versa with carrycot included for £339 but I can't afford to pay that all in one go as we have a lot of outgoings right now which is why I've been using mothercare and m&p as they have deposit schemes.

Me23 · 07/06/2014 08:36

methen many congratulations on your twins, I didn't realise we had any October twins exciting though I guess they may come sept depending when your due date is.

YellowWellies · 07/06/2014 09:04

Our November twins came in August and September, and one pair even hung on til the very end of October!

bumpbangbump · 07/06/2014 09:08

I'll be 38 +1 whem I go on ml. But my last week before the summer hols is next week and I don't go back until 8th September!!! Have about 4 days work after next Friday and it's all in bits and bobs.

So sick of the atmosphere at work. My job has been taken out of risk, but there is still so much uncertainty.

Bumpforme2014 · 07/06/2014 10:24

Question, can I just get normal travel insurance or do I need to get something different for preggars ppl?
