I've just done a bit of googling and there are loads of threads where this has happened to people and they all said everything was fine at the consultants appointment. I didn't find a single one that said anything bad- and that's really rare for a pregnancy related google search!!

I'm not going to say don't worry because it doesn't remotely help me to hear that when I'm worried, but I'll keep everything crossed for you. Let's hope Wednesday is a good scan result day. What time is yours?

OP posts:
weebairn · 07/07/2014 11:26

I'm sorry your scans have been so stressful misskgb… it's a really worrying time even if everything is going well. I have my fingers crossed for wednesday for you too, hopefully just rice crispie (love the name) "eating" at the wrong times! As mrshjb says mostly things are ok at scans so the odds are on your side. Keep us updated and take care xx

misskgb · 07/07/2014 14:23

Thanks both. It's 11am. I did a quick google and saw loads of forums with it on but couldn't see any websites where medics talk about it so got annoyed and stopped!! I'm sure the second the consultant puts the scan on he'll be like 'there is it' but it doesn't stop the worrying in between!

mrsb87 · 07/07/2014 16:42

Fingers crossed for you misskgb, I hope it in gets sorted for you soon so you can put your mind at rest.

How is everyone else doing? I've had a rough few days, I think the third trimester exhaustion has hit me! It doesn't help that I'm not sleeping well at night with needing to pee every few hours.
I forgot to take my ondansatron last night so I had the added vomiting this morning too, lovely.

I've also had my anti-d injection this morning and booked myself in for antinatel classes and a water birth session too. It's all starting to feel very real now!

misskgb · 07/07/2014 17:10

Eeeeek mrsb!!! I've heard there's a 2 week heatwave hitting at the end of this week up to 30 degrees. Like we're not affected by the heat already at a mere 20 degrees!!!! Good luck to us all in being able to sleep!

mrsb87 · 07/07/2014 17:25

I know! Luckily were heading to the Welsh coast for a week on Saturday so I'm hoping it will be a little cooler there. We have a ceiling fan in our bedroom so I'm hoping that will help! Fingers crossed I cope as poor dh (and everyone else for that matter) are probably going to get the raw end of my heat induced bad mood. Haha beware!

mrshjb · 08/07/2014 07:59

misskgb yeah that's the thing with googling, it's always just people sharing their experience isn't it. But yeah sure it'll be absolutely fine and he'll be like there it is, off you go!!

Wow mrsb87 things are getting serious now! When are you due? It's annoying how you can't change the top post thing on here! I'm guessing your same kind of time as Kiki and Weebairn?

I didn't realise we were on for a heat wave. I'm roasting alive at night as it is!!

Scan day tomorrow. So ridiculously scared, bit of a shame really because I'm so scared I can't bring myself to be excited. It's totally my own fault for googling, but I kind of wish when people posted horror stories, they gave a bit a context. Like their age, health problems, previous mcs, signs that suggested stuff was going wrong etc, then I think although it's possible for everything to be in your favour and something still go wrong, it would make you see that it's less likely. I only know one person who had a mmc in real life who is a friend of a friend and she said she knew something was wrong because she didn't feel pregnant.

My Mum had never heard of a mmc. I still think she's a bit reluctant to believe it. Oh to be from a pre google generation!!

mrshjb MMC common on mumsnet because it's a place you can come to to talk about these things. it's not common in general population. You are young and healthy and all the odds are on your side, every week unless you have bleeding etc the chances are getting better and better all will be fine. most pregnancies go to term. If you get to 12 weeks without any bleeding chances are about 99% all fine.

Just had my 28 week appt. Wolf cub fine, heart beat fine, bump measuring spot on. Then I fainted in the middle of my appointment. Feel like a right idiot. She made me get a taxi home (I walk there). I feel very rough and a bit stupid… just too much on at the moment I think, work is crazy, taking my giant exam tomorrow & thursday, no sleep with hot snotty toddler waking up all the time… my blood pressure was a bit low for me, maybe it was that. Wolf cub was kicking merrily throughout and they listened to heartbeat again once I was better so not worried about him/her...

My mum has toddler for the day so just going to rest I think. was supposed to be doing a final day of study but I've done enough i think, been at it for months. Never properly fainted before, feel really embarrassed!!

mrshjb · 08/07/2014 10:19

Thanks for the reassurance weebairn.

Your morning sounds very dramatic. On the plus side glad to hear everything is absolutely fine with the 'wolf cub' (awesome name btw). Don't be embarrassed about fainting, it's not your fault! I once fainted in the middle of a packed gig and my husband and another bloke had to drag me to the side and I fainted a few times on the way, that was embarrasing!! Oh and I've fainted at the side of a pool when I was actually the lifeguard!! It's just one of those things and you definitely have a good excuse, or rather a series of good excuses!!

Definitely sounds like you've got a lot going on at the minute. Can you take some time off work after your exams? Blood pressure will definitely have been low if you were on the verge of fainting. So hopefully back to normal soon. Good idea to just rest and take it easy today. I find sugary stuff is the only way to bring me back round after fainting. Take it easy today :)

weebairn · 08/07/2014 10:27

My toddler also stole my breakfast which can't have helped!! GOing to eat something in a minute. Thanks for the solidarity, fainting at a gig must have been a nightmare! At least I was with my nice midwife - did feel a fool though.

Am definitely going to take things easier after stupid exam over. I currently have a day off a week when toddler is in nursery but I'm not working, have been using it to study but it will be all mine and I will do things like watch films and do yoga and sew little clothes for wolf cub or something or sleep Ah, it will be bliss.

How many weeks are you now Helen? Are you having an early scan did I remember that right or is it the 12 week one you're waiting for?

mrshjb · 08/07/2014 10:34

Hahaha bless her, but no that can't of helped at all! Yeah, poor husband had been wanting to see this band for years and we had to stand near the back after that so I could get some fresh air! Yeah and I'm sure midwives have seen loads of fainters!

Sounds a good idea to use your time to rest as much as possible. Always such a relief when exams are over isn't it so I'm sure it'll be a big weight off your mind as well. Are you a nurse? This is what I've surmised from your posts?!

It's the 12 week scan. By lmp I'm exactly 12 weeks tomorrow but I think I'll be closer to 11 weeks. I debated an early scan but they are nearly £100 round here and my mum and DH thought it wasn't worth it so didn't do it in the end. It has come round pretty quickly really. DHs Mum doesn't know yet so it'll be really nice if we can go and tell her afterwards. We've had the 'oooh it'll be you next' from her for quite a while now so sure she'll be pleased :) He's the first of his generation to have kids in their family so it'll be nice for them.

I'm a hospital doctor, i work in acute medicine. lots of running around… but i love it too and shouldn't whinge so much!

I didn't have an early scan either, I can totally understand why people do but sometimes I think it results in even more worry. It does feel like that's come round quickly - I think everyone else's pregnancy always seems to fly past whereas your own feels endless Wink Oh it will be lovely for you tomorrow. The nerves is totally normal but like I said the odds are massively in your favour that everything will be perfect and then you can spend the rest of the week telling people if you want to, which is really fun and happy. Your little one will be spoiled rotten if they are the first grandchild - lovely :) Mine are my parents' 5th and 7th!

mrshjb · 08/07/2014 10:56

Ooh a doctor, now all the horrendous exams make more sense!! Yeah I can imagine that can be quite stressful at times? But obviously very rewarding :)

Yeah I've read people who have gone too early and can't see heartbeats or get put right back and then moved forward again at the 12 week scan. Suppose it's around 12 weeks for a reason! Yeah I'm really looking forward to being able to tell people, I hate keeping secrets at the best of times and this is a huuuuuge secret! Glad I've told my family and my friend or I would have been bursting! My grandma questions my mum every time she sees her too so she'll be glad to be able to tell her! Haha are you one of many? Second grandchild on my side and 1st on DHs.

Thanks again for the reassurance, it does really help :)

I have 2 brothers who both have kids. We all get on brilliantly which is lovely (specially for my boyfriend cause his family is a bit of a nightmare) but finding holiday cottages big enough is a nightmare now… haha!

mrshjb · 09/07/2014 05:50

Haha yeah I can imagine. What's the age range with the kids?

Did you manage to get some decent rest yesterday?

OP posts:
mrshjb · 09/07/2014 10:24

Scan went perfectly. Measuring exactly 11 weeks as expected, so have to go back for the NT measurements in a few weeks. But she said she was totally happy with everything and would be very shocked if it came back with any problems. On the plus side I get a free scan woohoo!! Got a free pic as well today because she said just to pay in a few weeks when it's clearer!

Hope yours goes well misskgb and good luck with your exams weebairn

Been for scan. Saw the tummy the second he put it on! She stuck out her tongue, sucked her thumb, wiggled a lot & heard her heart beat. Huuuuge relief!!! A very happy mummy & daddy to be :-) oh and got another 2 free pix!!

Glad yours went wekk too H!

mrshjb · 09/07/2014 13:16

Aw fantastic news, I'm so pleased for you! Day of huge relief all round :) Bonus on the free pictures too!!!

Hey been lurking keeping up with you ladies!

H congrats on the perfect scan, can you not see as much at 11 weeks? Just with you needing another scan!

misskgb was thinking of you today. What a huge relief! Fantastic!

I am getting a tad nervous for scan day on fri! Just hoping everything is ok with my lil one!

Xx

mrshjb · 09/07/2014 20:32

Hey Lolly nice to hear from you :) If I didn't have the NT measurements then I wouldn't need another scan. She said that she is pretty confident it was all ok but to get the exact measurement I needed to be a bit further on. I'll be 13+1 when I have my next scan so I think the baby should be quite a bit more developed by then. It's been a lovely day of telling people :)

What time is your scan? Are you finding out what you're having? I can't remember now what everyone said!xx
