I am slightly obsessed with cloth nappies. Don't get me started. THEY ARE SO CUTE! We didn't do them from newborn, from about 3 months, but have saved loads of money and they make me weirdly happy. I will shut up. Definitely second hand or hand me downs or cheap ones are the way to go though, you can spend silly prices on them. Those ones look absolutely adorable mrsb87. I do know a lot of people who planned to use them but just were too overwhelmed with everything after birth to try - just mentioning that - even if you don't use them right away it doesn't mean you've not managed them, you can start any time, like I said I left it till 3 months in the end.

I had the toddler today and we have eaten and cleaned up four meals, been to see friends, played in sandpits, done water pistol fights, played dressing up, drew some pictures and ate a lot of glue, had several tantrums because she wanted to eat more cake, cleaned the house after she messed it up, etc - exhausted! Cooked a nice dinner while boyfriend put her to bed and in bed with a hot water and lemon hoping for a better night's sleep (she's been up a lot in the night recently). How the hell am I going to cope with two??? I keep telling myself not being at work will make a huge difference…

34 week midwife appointment tomorrow, and signing the offer for our new house - first one we've ever bought! eek! Wish us luck! Boyfriend is so stressed and convinced everything is going to fall through.

Glad you had a lovely birthday helen! A pair of jeans that fit perfectly is one of the best things ever :)

Very impressed with anyone hoovering, I leave that to boyfriend!

binkybunny · 18/08/2014 21:38

weebairn your post made me exhausted just reading it, sounds like your lo had a fab day though.

I also love cloth nappies. we have one all in one so far that we got with a voucher and we got some real Terry towel nappies too. Waiting until Taf is born then going to use the trial pack from the nappy lady to see what suits us best.

mrsb87 · 19/08/2014 01:55

weebairn I couldn't resist! Yes no pressure, I have disposables to start off with until I feel ready to introduce them. My sister and sil have all used cloth with all their kids so I thought I would at least give it a go! Bum genius have a great resale value too so if it doesn't work out I will sell on again. I'm becoming a little addicted to the Facebook selling pages!

Crikey your day sounds mental! I don't think I could cope with all that right now!

binkybunny · 19/08/2014 07:01

mrsb I had a look at nappy pages on Facebook but so far I have only seen companies selling new or the preloved ones all seemed to be closed groups. Are there any pages you can recommend?

mrshjb · 19/08/2014 08:17

Sorry for not replying as I said I wouldn't, been really busy for the last few days. Nice to hear from everyone though:)

I'm impressed with those of you considering disposable nappies, definitely the more environmentally friendly and cost effective approach. It's not really crossed my mind though. I don't have a drier so I can't imagine how many I would have to buy to be able to keep up with it.

weebairn your day sounds absolutely knackering! Suppose the hope is when they're older they can entertain each other and you just have to sit and watch!! What's your toddler called?

I've ordered a baby name book, really got no idea at all about names. 3 weeks today until 20 week scan. Sooo excited! Keep dreaming it's a boy, think I'll be so shocked if it's a girl!!

Have a good day everyone!

weebairn · 19/08/2014 09:53

Her name is Jess (I like simple names). She is a cutie :) And LOTS of trouble… I was also convinced she was a boy last pregnancy helen and a bit surprised on the day - but not in a bad way. Are you finding out at your 20 week scan?

The day wasn't all that bad, my mate let me lie on her sofa and fed me cake!

Have dropped toddler off at a friends so I could go to the midwife in peace this morning. All fine - measuring 35cm at 34 weeks which is pretty much perfect, and baby head down which is great! She also complimented me on my lack of stretch marks, but I am just lucky on that front! I think it will all feel close once we hit september, though technically I am only due last day of september and will probably go over anyway.

I am in a routine with washing nappies now so it's not a lot of effort - I put them on every 3rd evening and they are dry by the morning. Newborns go through a LOT more nappies mind! I think it can be a bit overwhelming at first and it's not for everyone.

Hope everyone has a lovely day ! I am on annual leave end of the week and can't wait for some feet-up time!

misskgb · 19/08/2014 12:32

weeb- the deal in our house is I clean downstairs, he cleans upstairs. I practically refuse to clean the bathroom uurrggghhh- not at all nice!!

I used to be a nursery nurse and looked after two boys in their own home who both wore real nappies. Now, my experience was made worse because they only ate organic food- there is something that happens to organic food in the digestive system which makes changing nappies worse than usual, and with real nappies, I couldn't cope!! I can't say it's something I'd be keen to try again, but love that so many of you have got on with it/are going to try it!

28 week mw appt for me later on today. Last time I was there she told me I was properly chilled out when she did my blood test. FX for that again!! Little one does not stop moving most of the day which is nice and I'm starting to feel either a bum or a head (I can't tell) poking out so will be nice to see if she can tell me how she's laying!

mrsb87 · 19/08/2014 17:15

binky I will link you to a few of Facebook that I'm on. I found them useful for learning the different types etc.

Braxton hicks have been awful today. Pretty much constant all day. Tried walking them off but they seemed to get worse when I got up. I have my 34wk appointment on Friday, pretty sure I'm going to measure big as I feel HUGE!

mrshjb · 19/08/2014 17:17

Jess is a lovely name weebairn. I like really simple names too. Have you got some options for bump? Yeah I am definitely finding out, I absolutely can't wait!! Obviously the fact that the baby is healthy and developing normally is the top priority, but I'm trying not to think about that aspect and see it as a gender scan so I don't get stressed out again.

Sounds like you're doing really well. Congratulations on the lack of stretch marks! A few people seem to say it's worse with your second so you've done well! Woohoo for a leave at the end of the week, you definitely sound like you deserve a break!

Hahaha the organic nappies sound rank misskgb. To be honest I don't think I could face it even if I had the option either! How did the midwife appointment go?

I THINK I've started to feel the little bubbly movements. I can only really tell when I'm laid flat on my back and quite still. I laid down before and put my hand on one side of my stomach and felt two little pops underneath! Time will tell anyways. A few of my friends have said about getting DH to listen to baby moving in the water in your belly. I've got him to do it and he says it sounds like swishing movements. He's done it at various points in the day and it sounds the same. What do you reckon, digestion or baby?!

OP posts:
weebairn · 19/08/2014 17:39

I bet you are feeling movements Helen !! You're about 17 weeks now? I think I felt them that early last time - even earlier this time. Not typical but some women do. Like little bubbles at first. It's the best thing!

misskgb · 19/08/2014 22:44

Awwwww cute H! Mine moved more when I was flat too, or when I drank a bottle of water out of the fridge! She's just kicked me 3 times in one go as I wrote that, hard. Little madam!

Mw went well ta. Gtt bloods come back fine, urine clear, heartbeat perfect n grown 0.5cm in 3 weeks so measuring 29cm at 28.3 weeks which is good. Back again in 3 weeks n whooping cough jab next week.

She spoke to me about feeding the baby n my choices. Gave me a leaflet but I left it in the loo with my notes-oops!!!

When's your scan H?

mrshjb · 20/08/2014 07:13

Yeah 17 weeks today. At my last scan I was measuring a few days bigger though so suppose if that's carried on baby could be slightly longer still. Next scan is 3 weeks yesterday. Really can't wait!

Did you all feel movement quite intermittently at the start?

Great news about your results misskgb Haha the little monkey! Do the kicks ever actually hurt? Whoops about leaving your notes, when are you getting them back?!

OP posts:
misskgb · 20/08/2014 10:51

I've got my whooping cough injection tomorrow morning so will get them then, otherwise I could just nip in as it's on the way home each day. They've never actually hurt no (yet). I do say oww sometimes but I think it's more of a reaction to an unexpected kick! She's very mobile throughout the day and I still giggle- you'd think I'd be used to it by now but noooo. I love it!

Can't wait to hear what you're having!

Ladymillion · 20/08/2014 22:43

Hi ladies

I'm so touched at your lovely suggestions about something in honour of Lenny, in fact I'm overwhelmed.

We are moving house tomorrow finally, so everything's a bit manic. Lenny's funeral is all planned and will take place a week tomorrow. Was thinking of asking people to donate to SANDS instead of buying flowers so if any of you wanted to do that then please do. If anyone wants my new address I can send that too, please message me if u like...

I haven't uploaded a pic of Lenny yet have I! Is there anyway to do it on an iPhone?? I don't think there is Hmm anyway I'll do that after the move.

I'm feeling more human now, started wearing make up again and actually washing my hair so a massive improvement! I never thought I'd resurface from that hell hole of despair! Still desperate to get pregnant, still aching for a baby, and I think my first AF has arrived since around January time! Hopefully this means my body is returning to 'normal'.

Glad to hear everyone's babies are progressing nicely, my friend had her baby today, a little boy called George... I was happy and sad at the same time. The "what ifs" started entering my head! An image of little Lenny and George as mates growing up together etc... Arghhhh! Just torturing myself!

I can see a light at the end of the tunnel now anyway... Mostly... Sometimes... Wink Xxx

Ladymillion · 20/08/2014 22:49

Ooh I think I can add a pic via my phone... This was the last pregnant photo of me. I was 24 weeks here I think...

Baby Lenny bless him. He was still alive here and I could feel his warmth and his heartbeat

After Lenny died he was dressed and placed in a cool cot where he stayed with us until I was discharged. We had a chance to look at every inch of his body. I even had a look at his little willy (I had to check!). Here he is with his dad.

And lastly this is Lenny's cute little face

mrshjb · 21/08/2014 07:18

Hi Lady, nice to hear from you. I'm so pleased to hear that you're starting to feel slightly more human again. It shows a really strength in your character. Lenny is absolutely gorgeous, thanks for sharing the photos of him. He's got such lovely coloured skin and a really cute little face. You look really good with your bump too.

Good news that your cycle seems to be returning again. Have you decided when you think you might start trying again?

Are you going to set up a just giving page in his memory or should we just to just donate to SANDS in general? I'll message you for your address as well.

Hope the house move goes well today!xx

weebairn · 21/08/2014 08:41

Beautiful pictures. I'm so sorry. He's so tiny. I'm having a little cry.

I am awed that you can sound positive about some things, you are obviously an incredible person. I'm glad AF has returned so soon, must feel like your body becoming more normal again after all it's been through.

I'd like to donate some money in Lenny's memory, let us know if you'd like us to just give to the charity directly or if you have a certain webpage or anything.

Good luck with the move! Hopefully a fresh new house will be a good place for you to heal and recover.

chillychicken · 21/08/2014 09:01

Lady You're amazing. You really are. It's so lovely to hear you sounding positive about things. I have everything crossed for you that this is AF, your body is getting back to normal and you can start trying for another baby.

The photos of Lenny are beautiful, thank you so much for sharing them with us.

I would also like to donate to SANDS in Lenny's memory.

I hope everything goes well with the house move xx

binkybunny · 21/08/2014 09:43

Lady those photos are just lovely and I'm sure something you will treasure forever. It must have been so hard seeing your friend give birth, but remember you can try again. Having AF arrive already is good news that your body is going back to 'normal', just make sure your mind is in the right place too but I'm sure people actually qualified will have told you all this.

Would love to donate to SANDS too so will keep an eye out on here.

mrsb87 · 21/08/2014 15:28

What a handsome chap lady! Really lovely to see pictures of your little boy. I'm glad to hear af is getting back to normal and that you can start trying again when you're ready.
I've been thinking of you lots, you're such a strong woman to keep going the way you are x

Ladymillion · 22/08/2014 13:56

Aww thanks everyone Smile such a lovely lot u are

That's a good idea about setting up a Just Giving page Helen thank you, I will do that I think... As for trying again - as soon as I ovulate! We are both so ready for a family. We've been together nearly 8 years now, was waiting for the right time - money, house, stable job... Just goes to show there's never any point in waiting for the 'right time'!

Really missing my mum loads more lately - she lost her first child (born with hydrocephalus, died within weeks of being born) and could do with her wise words! She went on to have 3 more children so hoping I have her good luck in that sense.

Are any of you planning on a big family? I used to say 'well it all depends, if the birth of my first is traumatic then no!'

I'd like about 10 now, regardless of pain and suffering haha Shock

mrshjb · 22/08/2014 16:46

Let us know what the link is once you've set it up :)

Oh I didn't realise your Mum wasn't around, sounds like she would have had some good advice for you. That must have been awful for her. Did she know the baby would be born with the condition? Just goes to show how every pregnancy is different doesn't it. Have they told you whether you're at risk of premature labour next time? Good luck with TTC. How many cycles did it take you to get pregnant with Lenny?

2 is the maximum for me I think. I've never wanted a big family and I am one of these people who likes things in order, so somehow the thought of 3 children just sounds odd and not right to me!!! Anything more than that is too crazy to entertain as well!
