Lady don't be sorry! My cousin did everything they tell uto wwith her first pregnancy n her daughter was born with a cleft pallet & issues with her urinary & reproductive systems. On her second pregnancy she continued to smoke n drink throughout n second baby was born perfectly healthy. I know they're very different things to what you've been through but its my only comparison to the fact that every pregnancy is different

Of course you're going to be worried & apprehensive but we're all here for u n will keep sending our luck! It would be amazing to hear that in the not so distant future, u get your happy ending!

Let us know when the funeral is so we can think about u even more on that day. Its great to hear you're accessing support xxx

weebairn · 13/08/2014 20:37

Oh lady Sad Sad My heart still breaks for you and I think you are so amazing to even be be able to speak to us. I can totally understand about wanting to TTC right away (or never again) and it must be the most natural reaction in the world. I'd love to stay in touch and hear happy news from you when it does come but equally wouldn't want you to do anything that makes it hard for you. Sad Sad

I was wondering if I could send something for Lenny's funeral, I was wondering if that would be ok? I will private message you and ask for your address and pass it on to the others here if that's ok with you, but obviously just say no if you'd rather not. Has there been a post mortem - have they given you any kind of answer as to why it happened, or do they not know?

Thinking of you always.

weebairn · 13/08/2014 20:39

No news from this end except that I feel enormous and exhausted and a bad mum and rubbish at work, work is so tiring now!! 33+1. Official last day at work is 36+2 but might not make it that far. On my feet all day and little in the way of breaks (first thing boyfriend says to me when I get home is "did you get to eat today??")

mrshjb · 14/08/2014 09:15

misskgb How come you're not able to do a job share? Can you appeal the decision or is it none negotiable? Your mat pay is't the best but pretty standard isn't it. I work in social housing and it's ex council so we get pretty good benefits still. It's actually been reduced from what it was, you used to get 6 months full pay, which is pretty crazy isn't it! weebairn your mat pay is probably pretty good working for the NHS I would imagine?

binky Yeah that is pretty bad, I'm sure if you look on the NHS website it gives you a breakdown of what to expect and a 16 week appointment is pretty standard. Suppose it's down to each area ultimately though. Did you not have your mat notes from right at the beginning? I seem to have midwife appointments relatively infrequently until about 30 weeks I think and then they really pick up until the end, think it's about every 2 weeks!

Yeah I definitely think you'll need some adult conversation in your life! Do you have lots of friends and family locally who can come and visit? Definitely holidays will never be the same again!!

Lady it's good to hear from you, don't be sorry for anything you've said. Glad to hear that you're speaking to other people who have experienced similar situations, I hope it helps you. It makes perfect sense to me that you would want to start TTC again. I can imagine it would give you something to focus on and be positive about again. I can't see any reason why it would be more difficult for you to conceive again. Would be able to get more regular check ups and scans if you were pregnant again? I hope you've had some answers about the possible cause as well? I was also wondering whether it would be possible to send you something, or alternatively make a donation in Lenny's name to a charity of your choice?

weebairn sounds horrific, hope you make it through the final countdown or alternatively manage to finish work easily!! I can't believe how close some of you are to being full term. Does it feel like it's gone fast to you?

Working from home again today so hoping there are some others of you looking for an excuse to skive again!!

No H......I could appeal but don't think there's any point. Interviewing for a new manager tomorrow so it's all change anyway-this may be a good time to try something new. I'll see how I go when she's here!

Had my GTT today. Bad veins meant she had to go in the same one twice #ouch. She then realised she'd missed a tube so had to go in the back of my hand for more. Never mind-I was the only one there for a bit so laid down n had a snooze!!!

Bump is def getting bigger......can't wait for the end n can't believe some of u are so close EXCITING! !

weebairn · 14/08/2014 19:25

Yes, can't complain about mat pay, and job security, here. I get 3 months full pay + 6 months half pay plus SMP, then final 3 months would be unpaid. I took 12 months last time but I think it might have to be 9 months this time. I also get the year's annual leave at full pay.

They also sorted me out for a job share after last baby. ("Part time" is a bit of a laugh, sometimes our rota has us on for 70-80 hours a week, so even in a job share it can be a lot of hours.) I get sniffy comments about being part time sometimes but it is all very secure and protected. Boyfriend also got part time work without too much hassle, he works for a little company but it is full of part timers and he's best mates with his boss, so.

I have lots of friends who have been screwed over for mat pay so I'm very grateful.

Today was ridiculously frantic and basically 10 hours of running around, one short break, finished late. I'm not sure I'm going to make it to 36 weeks Sad WHY WON'T THEY LET ME SIT DOWN! Limped home. Boyfriend has given me a glass of wine to have in bed as he puts toddler to sleep i am a bad mother

binky Love that you're planning holidays already! Family ski holiday sounds fab!

binkybunny · 14/08/2014 21:04

Wow you all get amazing mat pay! I'm pleased my contract is ending, if I was permanent I could get 6 months at 50% which might tempt me to go back after a year, which I really dont want to. I've always said we won't have a kid until we can afford for me not to work for the first few years. I'm not sure if I'll change my mind in a year though as I'm already scared about stopping work in less than 3 weeks and we have to pay for that ski holiday somehow Wink.

Wee your job sounds horrendous, I couldn't cope with that not being pregnant!

weebairn · 14/08/2014 21:15

It's all my own fault, I could have been a GP!

binky you can just take it as it comes. I think being a stay at home mum while the kid(s) is little is a wonderful thing. It is a big adjustment though! I know people who have loved it and people who have decided it's not for them and got really good new jobs after mat leave - nothing is fixed :)

mrshjb · 15/08/2014 07:31

misskgb all the stabbing sounds a bit horrific. At least you could have a lie down though! No one can judge a pregnant woman for sleeping regardless of wherever it is! When do you get your results?

weebairn yeah thought the nhs would be pretty good for mat pay. I accrue my yearly annual leave whilst I'm off too, so probably going to bolt some on the end. I really can't believe your job though, you must be an absolute machine! I'd be on my arse at the best of time doing a job like that! Being a GP sounds much easier, shorter more reasonable hours and you sit down all day! Did you just fancy the excitement of a hospital a bit more?

binky I think having a baby is such a life changing experience you can't really imagine how you might feel once they're here. My sister is the most ambitious person I know and she gave up her job when her baby came home. She's looking in to casual freelance work now instead. Haha how young are kids able to ski?!

So glad it's Friday. It's my birthday tomorrow wooooo Cake I'm the grand old age of 27!!!

Hi Ladies

Lady still sending you lots of love and would also love to do something in memory of Lenny! Please let us know.

misskgb I went to kiddicare in Merryhill two weeks and had a nightmare as they were having a closing down sale and people in there were crazy bump

Lolly84 · 15/08/2014 10:41

Oops sent too soon, they were bumping into everyone, grabbing things out of your hand - horrible! I find the whole pram shopping thing a nightmare and gonna poss wait off until 30 weeks or maybe this weekend

Going to Ikea at weekend as got my head around what I want the nursery to look like. Have to be really smart with space as our nursery it's quite small. Love looking at things on Pinterest!

Binky your plan sounds amazing, pretty envious really. What a great opportunity.

Re Mat pay - I get 6 weeks at 90% 7-26 weeks 50% and then 26-40 SMP and then unpaid! Really hope we can do 9 months. I am hoping to go to 4 days, between me and DH I am the main money earner and we rely quite heavily on my wage so there would be no chance of reducing even more. I work as a Regional Training Manager for a retailer and been with them for 10 years so worked up the career ladder and hoping to continue on my return. This might all change when baba arrives. Poss a bit similar to your sister Helen. I am looking forward to having my first Christmas off in 10 years. Hubby is having most of dec off too. Can't wait!

H happy birthday for tomorrow, what's your plans?

Happy Friday everyone, a day working from home for me so no crazy journeys necessary xxx

weebairn · 15/08/2014 10:46

Lolly don't tell anyone but I bought a pushchair about a month after birth… I bought it online and it was delivered the next day so no hassle whatsoever and I really only used a sling for 6 months anyway. I had a small baby mind!

Your xmas plans sound so lovely :)

Happy birthday H!

I am off today and feet up resting in bed. Put toddler in nursery for an extra day (I do this a bit at the moment what with work being so stupid). Oh it's lovely and quiet…!

Lolly84 · 15/08/2014 11:15

Lol weebairn, good on you! I think there is this natural pressure to get sorted well in advance! I know someone who is die 3 weeks after me and she is fully prepared and has bought everything and I feel the total opposite. My sis keeps reminding me that the shops don't close once baby is born lol

Spending time with my sister I notice she hardly uses her pram. She uses a sling which is defo something I am going to do. What brand of sling would you recommend?

So glad to hear you are resting up, sounds like u need it!

chillychicken · 15/08/2014 12:41

Hello!
Happy birthday for tomorrow H! Hope you have a lovely day planned!

No real update from me. 24 weeks on Sunday. Saw midwife yesterday and heard baby’s heartbeat again. Blood pressure is perfect and the only thing I need is a diabetes test but that’s because I thought it was routine, said as such and that prompted her to look at my notes again and decide to book me in for one as my Mum has type 2 diabetes. So that’s another morning off work and a 2hr stay in hospital. BRILLIANT! Consultant appointment on the 5th – I presume because my Mum had a stroke at 45 so they’re concerned there is an increased risk of thrombosis. Then I’ll have the diabetes check and next midwife appointment is just before 30 weeks. It all seems to be going very, very quickly now.
I’m having major issues with my back. I’ve got a pregnancy pillow which I love but I think it’s because I sit down all day so I’m planning on swapping my office chair for a gym ball.
Belly button is itchy but it hasn’t popped out yet (I’m irrationally scared of this happening!) and bump is growing nicely. Moods are up and down, but midwife says that’s completely normal.

Baby kicks pretty much constantly! Got to admit I love that bit. Oh, apart from when I’m being kicked in the cervix! No one told me that could happen! That came as a bit of a shock.

We’ve got the pram and the nursery furniture but that’s it. Oh and a highchair because friends bought that. I plan on getting all essentials purchased before end of September as I then need to get Christmas shopping done by end of October so I can wrap it all at the start of November and then I don’t have to think about that at all.

I plan on finishing in the office at the start of November but I won’t take maternity leave at all. I’ll have a few weeks off once baby arrives but that’s it, I’ll be working from home otherwise and then probably back in the office a few days a week as of May. Not ideal but it’s part of running your own business.

misskgb · 15/08/2014 15:20

H- happy happy birthday!!! I hope you've got some non alcoholic cocktails lined up!! :-) I'll be celebrating too as tomorrow is 28 weeks and so trimester 3!!!

Oh Lolly- Merry Hell is not enjoyable at the best of times, never mind when there is a sale on!! Have they gone now then??

My mat pay is rubbish compared to some of you (misskgb properly frowns at this point!) but at least I get something (so she turns her frown upside down). Sorry.....think I'm delirious this afternoon!!! 10 weeks today I finish and have 10 days A/L booked so getting ever closer now!!!!

Lolly84 · 15/08/2014 15:34

Nice to hear from you Chilly glad all is going well! All the tests will be annoying but sure they are doing it in your best interests. God u are so much more prepared than I am. I am hoping to make good progress this weekend on baby stuff!

Merry hell really lived up to it's name! I cried when I got home! Think it's still there for now but kiddicare is going mostly online with lots of their stores closing. I know there is one in Peterborough that is staying open! I wish someone would just go and by a pram for me as I have a real hate for it! I train customer service and selling so it's has have me good examples for my trainees of what not to do lol!!

X

weebairn · 16/08/2014 19:07

I feel tired and enormous today. Went to the shops this morning just to buy a vest top or something but the whole experience of shopping is too hideous right now. WAIL. I bought some brightly coloured muslins which I don't even need instead… Feel like this pregnancy is never going to end and I am so huge and slow already. 33+4.

I went to the hospital last night because baby was moving less yesterday and normally is a right kick boxer... Felt like a bit of a fraud, but that's what they're there for and better to be safe than sorry, I'm not normally a worrier. They did a trace for an hour and everything seems to be fine. Maybe s/he's just running out of room!

Lolly - lots of people swear by the slings which are long pieces of stretchy fabric that wrap around you for newborns. Moby and Kari me are the most popular brands I think. I have to say I didn't get on with a moby sling that well and got one called a Beco after a couple of weeks, which is a piece of thick fabric that clips into place a bit like a backwards rucksack. Most people think the moby is brilliant though.

Most cities (I think?) have a "sling library" now - check on facebook - you can go and borrow a sling cheaply for few weeks and see what works for you. Sling library is worth checking out if you have one locally because the high street shops do hardly any slings, and not very good ones. I think slings are BRILLIANT, not just for going out, but sometimes little babies just want to be held all the time and it can completely do your head in, you can feel pinned down all day. With them in a sling you can potter around the house and drink cups of tea and eat and go to the toilet and they just snooze on you happily. Saved my sanity completely! I also did lots of walking/hiking with mine.

chillychicken Tests/extra appointments sound a bit tedious but good to get things checked out. Hope you have a good book!
Oof, I am in complete admiration of the self-employed, I don't think I could work at all for the first few months at least. What is your business?
My belly button didn't pop last time and hasn't yet this time so it's not a certainty! It is looking weird though…

Happy 3rd trimester misskgb.

binkybunny · 16/08/2014 21:40

Happy Birthday H hope you've had a lovely day?!

Chilly also freaked out by belly button popping out and it has started to do so. I can't touch it or bear DH to either!

Wee hope you are ok? This morning we took to a trip to MLU too as not had any movement last night or this morning. She started wriggling and kicking as soon as they fastened the monitors on so felt pretty stupid, but she was lovely and assured me I'd done the right thing. It has also confirmed my choice of for birth, all being well. Just love the unit.

I'm knackered as spent all yesterday baking cakes for my sister's wedding. One week today and I'll be the only sober one (except granny). At least they have an amazing band so I won't be subjected to dodgy wedding dj!

Need to go and read back everyone's posts again. Baby brain has fully kicked in!

mrshjb · 17/08/2014 09:14

Morning everyone, I had a lovely birthday thanks :) I went to the Trafford Centre with DH and finally managed to get some maternity jeans! Got some h&m over the bump ones and they are soooo comfy! I'm so excited about the prospect of being able to chuck a pair of jeans on again. It's been far too long! I did try some of the skinny jeans on and they were ridiculously tight. I'm not a big girl by any stretch of the imagination and I was sweating trying to get them over my calves! Plus I was trying a size bigger on than normal. Anyways no need to rant I got what I wanted :) Got a few tops as well.

We also had a quick look in mamas and papas, it really highlighted to me how I know absolutely nothing about prams! I am now the proud owner of a cot though. It's my niece's and she's now going in to a bed so my sister wanted rid of it. Going to try and get it stored it a wardrobe for the next few months today.

There's so much to reply to there and I really need to get up to clean the house before heading over to my parents for a birthday dinner, so I'll give it another go tonight! Glad to hear those of you who have been to hospital have had everything turn out ok though. Must be a scary time. Enjoy the rest of your weekends!xx

Morning everyone! H I'm glad to hear you had a lovely birthday. I have a pair of h&m otb jeans and they are bloody lovely! I also have a pair from jojo maman which are good too and only go cost me £14.

I was meant to have a restful weekend but that didn't exactly work out so today I'm having a rest! At 34wks I think I'm entitled to one day to veg. BabyB is as active as ever, not so many kicks these days just lots of rolling around and pushing, especially under my ribs! Starting to feel more and more like a beached whale!

Hope everyone has a good week!!

misskgb · 18/08/2014 13:02

I'm having a day off too MrsB-decided to book lots of random days off so it helps me to keep going. Nice to have a lay in & nothing to do! :-)

mrsb87 · 18/08/2014 14:20

I talked myself into vacuuming the downstairs, then realised the vacuum cleaner is upstairs. It's too heavy to for me to be dragging down the stairs on my own at the moment do it can wait!

My first fluffy post arrived today! So excited!
