I've called in sick today. That's my excuse! Just tried to tidy the house so am lying down again now, hah.

Going for my whooping cough jab this evening. Very exciting…

Third trimester is no fun physically but it's also the most exciting time and the time when you get the most attention and nice old men giving you their seats and stuff. And lots more midwife appointments...

misskgb · 08/08/2014 16:25

We're watching the inbetweeners n probably go for a nandos too!!

I don't mind not having a manager, especially at the moment as its close season for us so VERY quiet! Means I can get away with not doing a lot. It'll start to pick up again soon. The downside is that I don't have a lot of motivation!

I went for my glucose blood test yesterday but I'd been told to get the wrong lucozade so the nurse wouldn't do it. She wouldn't even let me go to the shop across the road to get another so got to try again next week. Only problem is the only appointment is at 7am. I am NOT happy about that!!!!

mrshjb · 08/08/2014 16:52

I really want to see that as well misskgb, let me know what you think! I absolutely love the inbetweeners, the episodes are still so funny regardless of how many times I've seen them!

What an absolute ball ache, why does it matter which Lucozade it is? Bad luck about the appointment time as well, that's ridiculous! Hope the hospital isn't too far away from your house?

Hope you managed to finish work early binky.

Enjoy your injection weebairn....!! Hope you're feeling better soon as well.

Takeaway pizza and a night in front of the TV for me :)

Have a good one everyone!

Luckily they do it at the doctors around the corner so not too far to go

It was a typical sequel. .....not as good as the first or the episodes. I'd have felt robbed if we paid for two tickets but luckily we got one free. Disappointed!

mrshjb · 09/08/2014 09:22

Booo how annoying, I had really high hopes for it. I was hoping that they'd improved on the last one because I didn't really rate that compared to the episodes!

Oh right, well at least it's closer but how boring to have to sit in a doctors surgery for so long. Are you taking something to do to pass the time?

OP posts:
misskgb · 09/08/2014 09:40

Oh definitely. In my bag was a work folder, my work phone, a pregnancy book & 50 shades. I wonder which will be the chosen one hahaha!!!!

mrshjb · 09/08/2014 09:49

Hahaha! Have you read them before?! Do you reckon you'll go and see the film? I can't really see how there is enough storyline for it not to just be a slightly more upmarket porno?!!!

OP posts:
misskgb · 09/08/2014 16:39

I know I've read the first n started the second but not sure how far thru it I am so need to check. I might have even finished it which means starting on #3 soon. I think I'll watch it, more out of curiosity than anything

I ordered series 1&2 of footballers wivesca couple of weeks ago ready for maternity leave! Sad but I like it! !

mrshjb · 09/08/2014 18:07

Yeah I wasn't sure I enjoyed them but I was compelled to keep reading! I'll probably watch it but not at the cinema!

Haha oh my god I used to love that show!! What about calling your daughter Chardonnay?!! [Wink]

OP posts:
mrshjb · 09/08/2014 18:08

Booo I meant Wink

OP posts:
misskgb · 11/08/2014 09:46

I asked dh about Chardonnay-after he finished laughing he said I could add it to our list if I wanted (!) Not so sure about that!

Hope u all had a lovely weekend ladies and the week os good to you. Im off swimming with my friend n 3 of her children today :-)

Does anyone have any advice about combating hip pain at night? Ive got a v pillow if I want it but not sure how itcould help this. I wake up n my hips are rreally aching (and my jaw hurts too but that seems sp random! )

Had a bad dream last night. The content wasn't particularly bad but I woke up at 5:50 in tears!! Luckily dh realised n sorted me out with a cuddle so I managed to get back to sleep!

Lolly84 · 11/08/2014 19:12

Oh Lady I am so so so sorry for what you have been through! This is the first time I have been on in a while so I am sorry my condolences are late! I hope you have got some answers from the post mortem of Lenny. Can't even start to imagine what you and your DH are going through. I echo what everyone has said and hope you are getting the support

My colleague gave birth to her sleeping baby at 35 weeks 6 years ago. SANDS really helped her through the tough times and now she has 2 beautiful daughters. Whatever you decide to do please share with us as would love to support you as much as you have supported us!!

Lots of love x

Had my midwife appointment today. All bloods etc are fine but apparently they don't do the heartbeat at 16 weeks here anymore in case they can't find it and it causes unnecessary stress. Makes perfect sense but just annoyed they told me they would when I phoned up so I was really excited. Nearly cried, which I blame on hormones....!

Laughed at Chardonnay misskgb. Poor thing would have no choice but to be a stripper with a name like that!!

OP posts:
misskgb · 12/08/2014 14:20

DH wants 'an employable' name- he'd definitely have one there!!! hahaha

Sorry to hear you didn't get to hear the heartbeat. Ours don't do it until 25 weeks. Luckily they did it at the consultant scan so DH got to hear it which was a bonus. We've decided unless there's reason for him to, he won't come to any more midwife appointments as he works an hour away and my midwife can only see me between 12:30 and 4pm so makes his working day difficult. Was pleased he got to hear it.

Take two with the GTT test this Thursday. Massively looking forwarf to it(!)

Had the cutest experience this morning- woke up to DH giggling as baby was kicking him in the back and side (depending which way he laid). Her kicking didn't wake me up, he did, and at 6am, but it was cute!!

Lolly84 · 12/08/2014 18:53

Ah that's a shame H, can understand why though. My midwife has done it every time but with a warning. Love using my own Doppler though every so often.

How are you all? I am good enjoying last couple of weeks of 2nd trimester. I am currently 24+4, struggling with emotions. Could literally cry at anything. Apart from that not much to complain about.

Aw misskgb that's so lovely! Nice for your DH to experience a kick. I love the kicking(I am sure I will regret saying that). I love feeling him kick when having a rubbish day at work.

Started thinking about mat leave and think I am going to aim to finish up 3 weeks before due date. I travel all across the south so not sure if I will be able to last that long. My boss has said he will be as flexible as possible.

We are trying to save as much money as possible which is going well so far. Found myself shopping at Aldi which omg is amazing! Cannot believe how great and cheap it is. I sound so tight but every penny counts for mat leave.

Also on the pram front, still not chosen. It's doing my head in. If anyone has any suggestions please shout xxx

mrshjb · 12/08/2014 19:34

Haha misskgb maybe he needs to specify what kind of employment he means....!!

Aww all the kicking sounds amazing. I so can't wait to feel baby move. Suppose it's possible from next week onwards (17 weeks). I was tempted to get a Doppler Lolly but a few people have been dead against it in case it makes me obsessive! Every now and sounds reasonable though! I would have gone for it even if she'd have warned me. I have 3 close friends/ family with babies who all live in different areas and they all heard the heartbeat at their 16 week. Felt hard done by this morning!

Haha I don't think you're tight at all for going to Aldi, definitely got to prioritise to save money! How long are you thinking of having off?

I wouldn't even know where to begin on the pram front!

misskgb hope the blood test isn't a crappy as it sounds and you enjoy 50 Shades....!!

OP posts:
binkybunny · 12/08/2014 20:17

misskjb hope the gtt went ok,it sounds pretty horrible so hoping you feel ok after it.

Lolly can't give too much pram advice. I found a lot of the v expensive prams to feel quite cheap. We were given a classic Silver Cross with chrome chassis. It's big and heavy but feels worth the £700 it would have cost new. The pram turns into a carrycot/ Moses basket on a wooden rocker and then converts into forward and backward facing buggy.

H I didn't have a 16 week appointment at all. Went from 8 weeks to 24 weeks without seeing actual midwife, just my 2 hospital scans. I'm not really pleased with my mw experience I have to say!

I've been quite ill the last few days. Thought I had overdone it on Saturday but seems like a stomach bug has been going round at work. I now have 10 days left over the next 3 weeks and really struggling. Lolly stay flexible with how you will cope. I'm only 32 weeks and feel a bit despairing at how much I'm struggling already! Sad.

binkybunny · 12/08/2014 20:18

H kicking is lovely... apart from at 2am!

Lolly84 · 12/08/2014 22:13

H I had the opposite I didn't think they did such a thing and then when she offered I got a bit scared incase she didn't hear anything. The Doppler is good if you use it for the right reasons. I have only used it once in a tad panic and that was straight after hol. It is quite good for my hubby to keep him involved. The other morning I was leaving for Scotland for the weekend and before I went he wanted to hear our wee man. Now I can feel him I use it less.

Ah the kicks, lol @ binky I am still loving the kicks. I am sure as he gets bigger it will be annoying. H I didn't feel kicks until 22ish weeks so don't worry if you don't feel them from 17. Apparently it's harder for first time mums to feel.

Hoping to have 9 months off, then looking to see what I can do on my return. I currently work 50 hours a week so looking to reduce it as it's far too much. I absolutely love my job but not super practical being away from home a lot when having a baby. I would love to have a year off but chances are slim. What you ladies thinking of having off?

Ah good advice Binky, my company won't hold me to a date. It's hard to get the balance of having as much time off with baby as poss and stopping working at the right time! Not long for you then, must be such a good feeling. I am on the 12 week countdown. 12 weeks of craziness x

binkybunny · 13/08/2014 06:27

Lolly it's a great feeling because I'm constantly exhausted, not really sleeping with growing bump, kicking, heart burn and back ache. Also really scared to be giving up work. I was on a year's contract so have no job to go back to and have decided to take a few years off to bring up lo and study. I'm not sure how I'm going to cope being a sahm though having worked for the last 15 years!

mrshjb · 13/08/2014 07:33

binky why didn't you have a midwife appointment in the middle?! That's really bad, they're supposed to give you all the results of your blood tests, go through anything on your scans and then take another urine sample! 10 days doesn't sound too bad, hope it goes really fast for you! Oh I didn't realise you were finishing work for the foreseeable. I can see why it might be a bit daunting, especially if you've always worked. But sure it will be really good being able to spend so much time with your child and if you're planning on studying that will give you something to feel like you are still progressing with your career.

Lolly Yeah, to be honest I wouldn't really have considered it if I had of heard the heartbeat yesterday. I'm just very impatient! Yeah I know there is quite a big range of when people start to feel them for the first time. I'll just have to wait and see! Wow 50 hours a week is a bit crazy! From what everyone says that might get a bit hard towards the end. Do you have the option to cut down a bit? I'm hoping to have a year off. I get full pay for 3 months, half pay plus stat for 3 months and then stat for 3 months, so it would be the last 3 months where I wasn't getting any money so I'd have to assess how we were managing as we went along. We're trying to save quite a bit now so hopefully we'll be alright. I'm intending to go back part time as well.

I love Wednesdays, it's when I go up a week. 16 weeks today :)

misskgb · 13/08/2014 08:56

Lolly with the pram, I just went to Kiddicare for a mooch (I was only 8 weeks at the time and happened to be in Nottingham so thought we'd pop in). The women came over and said Can I help you? Me and DH just went 'HELP!' I think the best thing is to go to a large store and just look at different things. I knew a couple of things I didn't want but didn't know what I did want. We ended up buying there and then (after about an hour) because there was an offer on the one we liked after we'd tried a few out!

Hope you're feeling better binky

I work 35 hours a week, but 20 miles away from home (so 45-60 minute journey each way). I've told them I'm having 9 months off, but they're getting a replacement for up to 13 months in case I change my mind and want longer. We don't get any additional benefits so 6 weeks 90% pay and the rest SMP. It's going to be so difficult!

I requested job share when I come back (my job is a full time post which can't be reduced) but they've said no so once madam is here I need to think about whether I want to work full time or not and how far I want to be away from her. If she gets ill, it'll take me an hour to get back for her, same for DH. I'll have a look for jobs whilst I'm off and decide, plenty of time so no point worrying now. I have a FT job to return to if I want, or I have options so will take my time to decide.

I'm stopping 2 weeks before due date if I can. I do worry that I won't be able to sit at my desk or get behind the wheel in my car, but if I can, then I'll work up to the end of Oct. I'd rather have the time off with her once she's here and if she comes early, well mat leave starts automatically hey!!

binkybunny · 13/08/2014 11:35

H they don't do the 16 week appointment where I live. It was a horrible long wait between the12 and 20 week scan! We only get told blood test results if there are any problems, so until I got my mat notes at 20 weeks I just had to presume everything was ok.

I'm hoping my degree is going to keep my brain ticking over and I'm looking forward to having one evening a week having adult, intellectual, non baby conversation Grin

While I was in bed yesterday I started looking at family ski holiday for winter 2016 (was thinking about next winter, but have decided the baby will be just too young!) It made me realise how different holidays and life in general is going to be with a child. No longer was I looking for number of red runs and bars, but childcare provisions!

Ladymillion · 13/08/2014 15:41

Hiya, thanks for everyone's kind words

I've joined another thread for those TTC'ing after stillbirth / neo natal death. I still can't believe it to be honest, 25 weeks of pure happiness gone in a second. We are in the process of planning Lenny's funeral and should get our house-move date in the next week.

I simply cannot believe I'm not pregnant anymore, although my saggy belly is a constant reminder! I have a desperate need to be pregnant again. The bereavement midwife has said this is normal and that they usually advise at least 3 months before TTC'ing again. 3 months! Seems like a lifetime to me. I'm so scared that having conceived so easily before it must've been a fluke! I suddenly feel very old and inadequate like my body is a massive failure.

I really want to keep in touch with you all as we were all in this together from the start. I'd love to hang around until I get my BFP again (fingers crossed). Just thinking about when we were all trying and how lucky the thread was for us is making me cry. It feels like a nightmare Sad

Although I can't wait to be pregnant again I'm equally petrified that I will fail to ever have a healthy pregnancy. And I know I could never again enjoy being pregnant. Again, sorry for the depressing post, I only hope that in a years time we all have healthy babies in our arms and my heart can be somewhat repaired xx
