Morning Girls,

Thought I would start a new thread as someone suggested further down the last one.

Come and join.

Debbsy, how are things today ? Hope you are feeling better.
Tummy Button is starting to poke out a bit, sort of half in and half out, looks very odd.
We brought our buggy yesterday - we have gone for this one , being delivered a week Friday. Can't wait to get it home and have a push.

Not even thought about hospital bag yet. When I was pregnant with DD, I'm sure I already had it packed by now. We had one for labour and one for afterwards which worked quite well, think we will do the same this time.
Carseat - I had to stay in after having DD so DH brought the carseat up to the hospital the next day with him. I think we will put it in the car ready this time though as hoping to be in and out in a flash

OP posts:

Sorry Lebe ... am genuinely concerned but not overly worried, just wondered if it was "normal" !

Debz99 · 22/09/2006 12:50

HC Seeing midwife on wednesday and she said she wants to see me then and in two weeks again taking me up to 36 weeks then every week there after

Bethbe · 22/09/2006 13:09

Afternoon all,

Had a rubbish night sleep, - LO never stopped kicking painfully and at 3am I gave up and went to watch TV!

I'm jealous of those with the BH. A first-timer, I get really exited when I see any signs of progression, but perhaps I'm being green. Also, I stupidly finish work on 17th Nov (edd on 19th), but have arranged to work from home in the two weeks prior. I thought it sounded like a good idea at the time, but now I realise it maybe wasn't.

Debz: A bit late advice, but my midwife told me that the way to get out of a car was to swing both knees round together and place them on the pavement, then reach up to the top of the door-frame and use it to haul yourself up. I do it now and it does make things easier. Also, to get out of bed, you're supposed to roll onto your side and push up from the bed with your hands into a sitting possition - to save your back! Hope it helps!

LeBe · 22/09/2006 13:21

Debz - thats fine as long as i know yeah i think it is noraml, really if you think how much the skin is stretched the nerves must be lost a bit surely??? im just making all this up mind!

Hpoing cat - due the same day as you and i saw my mw every 3 weeks for last few months but when i saw her last week she said to move to every 2 weeks now and i know what you mean about the questions and stuff i need to see her everyday, ask her next time if you could make it 2 weeks, i think i also see her every week 36weeks onwards.

Bethbe - you are a braver woman than me! but to be honest i think i might of stayed alot longer if i could work from home so i hope that is easier for you towards the end! Also im jealous about the bh mine have stopped completely so feel like im going in reverse!

Charleesunnysunsun · 22/09/2006 13:23

Hi

I had a scary night last night! i had the worst braxton Hicks all night with horrible dull back ache and i felt really strange its hard to explain but i couldn't sleep becuase i felt so odd. I have had vomiting and diorah (tmi!) this morning so it's probably just a stomach bug but it scared me into packing mine and the baby's hospital bag!

The midwife said just to keep calm and phone the labour ward if the BH's get worse or start coming reguarly ect.
I seem to have them and each one lasts about 7-8 mins really hard but with a horrible back ache aswell.

Now im worrying the Sure Start hasn't come through yet and if the baby was to come i have nothing! no car chair or buggy or anything!

I hope your all well sorry i haven't had time to read through all the messages!

LeBe · 22/09/2006 13:23

Oh forgot, debz - the physio told me to sit on my notes in the car (With the plastic wallet) and then youi can use it to swivle yourself round to get out of the car! Dont know if it works tho havent tried yet x

LeBe · 22/09/2006 13:29

Charlee - i hope you feel better soon, if my pg memory is correct (which it usually isnt) you have had a bit of a bad time with one thing or another and im sure this is the last thing you need. Take care and put your feet up (and eat chocolate) and if baby does come s/he will have you and that is the most important thing!xx

I'm with you Mygirl, I have no plans to see a midwife again until at least 36 weeks, which isn't too bad going since the last time I saw her was at 17 weeks!!

Debz99 · 22/09/2006 14:10

Why are some of you more experienced ladies not happy about seeing the midwife, is it because your midwives are old dragons? All four of mine are lovely !

Debz99 · 22/09/2006 14:14

Lebe I'm up on the knees together and swinging them out the car onto road/pavement was taught that by the physsio too, it's physically lifting my boby out of the car is the problem my muscles don't seem to be working well in my back, I have the same problem sitting up in the bath or bed.

Delia · 22/09/2006 14:22

For those of you who have been through all this before can you answer me a question? My lo is really quiet today in comparison to normal, it had a wriggle at 10.30 last night and then went really quiet. Have been uncomfy all night becasue its unusual for it not to have a party when i'm trying to sleep! lo has given me a few little movements so far today but nothing strong like i'm used to, i'm concentrating really hard to feel the tiniest wriggle! should i be woried?

Debz99 · 22/09/2006 14:25

I should think baby is facing towards your back today so you may well not feel much, some days is busier than others for me too !

Bethbe · 22/09/2006 14:32

I kinda thought that having something to think about rather than 'endless waiting' would make it bearable. Also, I want as much time with the LO as possible after the birth!

Also, also, I'm probably gonna be late, as my mum had 5 kids and they were all late by over 2 weeks!

But - I'm starting to worry that I've made the rignt decision, - I made it when I wasn't nearly so big or tired.

Hope you're all having a good day - weekend nearly here!

NatalieJane · 22/09/2006 14:33

I don't dislike my midwives, just don't see the point of it, first time round I wouldn't have dreamt of missing an appointment, but this time I just find that I am so much more aware of my body, and what the baby is doing, where he is lying, etc. I just don't feel the need for the reassurance. When I get a bit closer and things like high blood pressure, which I can only really guess at, and when I need to know more about where to go when I go into labour etc. then I will go more often, and in fact I think certainly from 37/38 weeks onwards I will go down there once a week, if for nothing else I want checking to see if I can get some idea if labour is likely to be soon. With DS, no childcare, and DH anything upto 3 hours drive away I need as much notice as possible!!

Delia, I am sure everything is fine, babies do have quiet periods that can last for a few days, but, mothers instinct kicks in long before the labour starts, if you are worried, then ring the midwife, that is what they are there for!

LeBe · 22/09/2006 14:34

Debz - sorry i obviously didnt read your post properly before, but i do know what you mean about sitting up in the bath etc. Hopingcat and me were talking a while back about when sitting up your stomach goes the shape of a cone (does anyone else have this) but she scared me after she said you can rip your stomach muscles!! But i cant see another way and im soooo glad no one can see me get out the bath it really is so funny!!

Ive just been on the childbirth thread again someone has started a covo about amusing labour stories it was really funny to read if anyone needs a laugh.
Also has anyone read on the pg thread about all these threads and i looks like people making it up its all a bit odd!!

Delia - im not an experienced mummy but i have been told lots that babies have quiet and manic days, they have deep sleep and light sleep and quiet awake times and mad awake times so not too worry but just try to count 10 movements in one day and that is fine, also trust your instincts ring the mw if your concerned. xx

ExpatSarah · 22/09/2006 14:38

Hi All! Just wanted to pop in to say that I'm new to the board, and due in November (15th). I have already gotten so much useful info off the site...and looking forward to everyone's experience/hints/tips for future :-)

Debz99 · 22/09/2006 14:41

Oh getting out of the bath is amusing I have to roll over onto my tummy (obviously not resting on it) then get up on to my knees and then onto my feet !

Delia · 22/09/2006 14:41

thanks girls. I just don't want to panic if there's no need! I don't feel that there is a problem but it has never been this quiet so am a bit uneasy! Dh gets home just after 4 so will leave it till he gets home and give it a chance to wake up, he'll no doubt take a hand to bump to see what he thinks and it will probably react to it's daddy.

Lebe your braver than me reading the childbirth threads, i wont look at them in case something scares me! I'm laid back about the whole thing at the moment so don't want to put ideas into my head

NatalieJane · 22/09/2006 14:42

Welcome Sarah

Do you know if you are having a girl or boy?

LeBe · 22/09/2006 14:42

Hi ExpatSarah

Welcome and hope you join in our conversations, we have a great time! x

Delia · 22/09/2006 14:43

Hi Sarah, always good to get a new person to the thread. We have a stats list way down the bottom somewhere, copy it and add yourself on.

NatalieJane · 22/09/2006 14:43

Delia, try drinking a cold drink or eating an ice cream or something else cold, also lie down on the floor on your back (but not for longer than a couple of minutes) I find it always gets LO on the move!

NatalieJane · 22/09/2006 14:44

LOL Sarah, what Lebe means by a good time is that we all just sit around and moan most of the time!! LOL It is great!!

Delia · 22/09/2006 14:47

NJ - the floor! glad you can still get down there! I can get down but getting back up is impossible - to painful! just had a few sips of dh's Dr Pepper to see if bump reacts to that it usually hates the caffine and goes mad then makes me feel sick. had a few kicks and starting to feel a bit queesy so i think it may just be working!
