Morning Girls,

Thought I would start a new thread as someone suggested further down the last one.

Come and join.

Debbsy, how are things today ? Hope you are feeling better.
Tummy Button is starting to poke out a bit, sort of half in and half out, looks very odd.
We brought our buggy yesterday - we have gone for this one , being delivered a week Friday. Can't wait to get it home and have a push.

Not even thought about hospital bag yet. When I was pregnant with DD, I'm sure I already had it packed by now. We had one for labour and one for afterwards which worked quite well, think we will do the same this time.
Carseat - I had to stay in after having DD so DH brought the carseat up to the hospital the next day with him. I think we will put it in the car ready this time though as hoping to be in and out in a flash

I was at doctors surgery with my mum yesterday and there was a young girl in there with her LO was 3 months old apparently her last feed is 7pm and sleeps through til 9am ... Oh how I wish for this LOL !

LeBe · 21/09/2006 15:18

I was told that RLT doesnt induce labour it just helps with the muscles down there so the 2nd stage of pg (the pushing) is easier and quicker, im all for that!!! My mum has just told me that my stepdad is a fan which helps me because i trust him totally as he studied to be a herbal doctor, and apparently he gives it to the dogs sometimes when they are in labour!!

NatalieJane · 21/09/2006 15:19

Thanks SaraLou, we can keep each other company, I am covinced he is coming the 2nd December, have been since day one! It is our wedding anniversary so it couldn't be any other time. We normally spend the day putting the Christmas tree and decs up (I know it's early but we love Christmas!!) This year I think/hope I will be too busy to think about Christmas!!

LeBe · 21/09/2006 15:19

Sorry meant to say 2nd stage of labour - duh!

NatalieJane · 21/09/2006 15:20

Oh I thought it was to help bring labour on, not really to induce it, but just to pave the way a bit quicker...!

NatalieJane · 21/09/2006 15:22

Sorry to change the subject, but what breed is your dad in Lebe? (Sorry not being nosy, just got a bit of an interest in dogs!)

LOL MyGirl I think you are right, but to tone the uterus should make the contractions better and so therefore the labour quicker, shouldn't it?

Debz99 · 21/09/2006 15:36

Just googled raspberry leaf tea and miriam stoppard says ....

Raspberry leaf tea makes labour easier.

Not proven

My first reaction is that nothing makes labour easier but the anecdotal evidence for raspberry leaf tea suggests that there may be something in this myth. Advocates of raspberry leaf tea claim that drinking raspberry leaf increases the muscle tone of the uterus making for more effective contractions during labour.

LeBe · 21/09/2006 15:39

Mygirl that is what i heard.

NJ - they breed Labradors (black and yellow)and Jack Russells. They had 2 Jack Russells go on sat it was a bit sad cos they were too gorgeous.A really nice man has had both of them he called them Alfie + Madge

NatalieJane · 21/09/2006 15:45

But, haven't I read somewhere that said the tea doesn't have enough magic in it? The tablets are more effective apparently.

So when is the best time to start taking them then?

Lebe, we had a rescue JR when I was little, she was a lively little thing - really lived up to being a bitch! LOL And two puppies? Of the same age? WOW!!!! Very brave man!! LOL

LeBe · 21/09/2006 16:02

NJ - Ive just read that on one of the pg threads everyone seemed to favour the tablets from holland and barratt cos they have more ommph.
Also yes he is a brave man, but if you would have seen them you wouldnt have been able to leave one behind! But then i think my parents are very brave, at the moment they have 6 JRs and 5 labradors. But when i was younger they kept pots more and i remember one time having 21 dogs (that was with 9 puppies).

Is anyone else getting a cramping feeling? It is quite low down on the left hand side of my bump, feels like when you wake up with cramp in your leg, but it's in my belly, coming every 15 minutes or so.

Debz99 · 21/09/2006 16:19

I dont mean to scare NJ but is this not painful BH or labour pains? This being my first I would not know !!!! I have been getting vertical pains on the right hand side today not excrutiating SP? but making me wince.

staceym11 · 21/09/2006 16:22

everyone been so talkative this afternoon.

well firstly i feel much better me and dd baked cookies this afternoon so i feel a bit better about the 'neglect' shes been ecperiencing!

oh debz my lo slept like that, the 1st night in the hospital i had to wake her at 12midnight to feed her and wake her at 6am to feed her. she always had 6 hrs at least, and around 3 month she was doing 7-7 asleep and has kept it up now shes nearly 2 and goes 8-8, heres to hoping that this one does the same.

i did however get a lot of stick from HV as i let dd sleep on her front (she hated it on her back) but after explaining the chances of her suffering cot death were far lower than the chances of me hurting a baby that doesnt sleep (not that i would id just hand her to a passing stranger and tell them to deal with her!!) they then left the subject alone and kept well away from me.

i dont get on very well with health visitors as i just let dd set her own routine etc and they always thought i could do more to structure her etc....oh well enough moaning, will just tell them to bogof this time!

NatalieJane · 21/09/2006 16:25

It isn't like a contraction (either real ones or like the BH I have been getting) it really does just feel like cramp, as you say not excruciating, but I have to stop what I am doing and wait for it to pass. If I sit in the same place for too long it get's worse, when I move it eases a bit, but eventually comes back until I move again.

NatalieJane · 21/09/2006 16:29

Stacey, I wish I'd have realised that DS was my baby and not the HV's a lot sooner than I did, he absolutely hated being on his back, to the point where he ended up sleeping in his carseat every night, I didn't dare put him on his front, but now it turns out that the sleeping in the carseat could have caused more health issues than him sleeping on his front would have, and on top of that, even at 4 and a half years old we still have a nightmare with his sleeping, all because the HV said never to lay him on his front!

Debz99 · 21/09/2006 16:36

Sorry NJ didn't realise you were an experienced mum ! Hope it passes soon i'm not getting mine as regular as you, getting them about once an hour this afternoon.

staceym11 · 21/09/2006 16:39

its only because i had my mums support who told me to do what was right for me and my baby that got me through and i kept to my views rather than bowing to all the HV's demands!

right am going to rest now dd is sleeping! will prob be back tomo, going to veg on the sofa!

LeBe · 21/09/2006 16:41

Oh dear the rib pain is back!! Oh well atleat lo gave me half a days rest from it, sorry to hear a couple of you are suffering again hope everyone gets to have a relaxing evening. only another hour at work x

Debz99 · 21/09/2006 16:43

Oh Lebe the rib pain is back for me too this afternoon maybe all the pains are related LOL !

NatalieJane · 21/09/2006 16:44

It's OK Debz There are too many people on this thread to keep track of and up to date with!!

Have a good kip Stacey!

Oh no Lebe Have you tried having a bit of a walk? Even if just around your desk!! It might just encourage LO to come down from your ribs enough to stop the pain?

Debz99 · 21/09/2006 16:52

Seem to be feeling lots of lighter feathery movements further down the last couple of weeks (probably LO's hands) anyone else feeling these, they seem more frequent than the kicks now. Keeps saying to myself it LO trying to engage !

NatalieJane · 21/09/2006 16:56

Yep, more than likely to be the hands Sometimes I get the feeling like he is plucking (literally, like a double bass) my bladder LOL Now that puts a funny look on my face!!

Debz99 · 21/09/2006 16:58

I get something like that too NJ I just get this overwelming need to pee for about 2 seconds then it goes away, I assume its LO punching or prodding my bladder !
