Both dcs were dressed in brights when came to baby grows their bedrooms bottles etc and nice outfits were the stereotypical colours. Chinese test says girl but got previous 2 wrong.

How is everyone's weight gain? I've crept up to 12lbs really notice it on bum and thighs too

magichandles · 13/05/2014 07:42

This is so exciting about scans! I feel really behind now - I've got my 16 week MW appointment this week so my scan feels ages away!

Loulou I've put on 8lbs so far and I think it's mostly bump - my hips are measuring the same anyway and I don't think I've put much on round my face yet. I have started putting on about 1lb a week now though and I need to nip that in the bud as I suspect about 1/2lb is baby related and 1/2lb is eating too much!

furryleopard · 13/05/2014 07:46

Hi all, I'm new on mumsnet but wondered if I could join the group? I'm due on 17th October and planning to be team yellow.

It's my first baby and we had four miscarriages before 8 weeks last year so I've never been this far along before. I am just starting to relax, a bit anyway.

I love the star pram suit and have a yellow one that lined up for after our scan as my first purchase for the baby!

mrsb87 · 13/05/2014 08:10

Morning all wow I've just had to catch up of 4 pages of chat!!! Such chatty ladies.
I have my 20wk scan today! I can't wait to find out if my instincts are right or whether I should just ignore it he he.
Bump is growing nicely, lots of growing pains and aches though.
Loving the star blankets, not seen them before but I might have to get one!
Names wise I have my girls name all ready but boys I haven't fully decided yet.

ohthegoats · 13/05/2014 08:11

I haven't been on the scales in 2 years. No plan to, and no plan to look at my weight on notes either. They've seemed fine with this at all appointments. Previous issues with eating disorders. This week though I suddenly feel bigger all over. Saw myself in a swimming costume yesterday while at the gym - bit of a shock. Am going to go back to eating no sugar, that helps me keep a lid on it usually. I'm going to struggle with weight gain in general, I'm trying to remember that at least some of it isn't my fault.

ohthegoats · 13/05/2014 08:14

One of the things that irritates me is usually thin women saying that they are finding weight gain really difficult as 'I'm usually so slim at a size 4'. Surely everyone struggles with changes in your body that are out of your control?

Me23 · 13/05/2014 08:46

Welcome furryleopard I'll add you to our seperate stats thread. I'm sorry to hear if your previous losses but it great that you are now this far along :-)

YellowWellies · 13/05/2014 10:13

Leopard I had a MC before my boy and was a frantic knicker checker for the first two trimesters. Really sorry for your losses - the risk now falls away massively xxxx

Loulou I put on four stone with DS Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock but I had such a crazy hunger all the time! I lost it within 4 months thanks to BF and having to go dairy free as he was intolerant and reacted to cows milk protein from my diet in BM. This time I'm up 7lb which to say I'm able to eat dairy (chocolate, cheese!!!!) for the first time in 16 months I'm pretty chuffed with. You do put a lot on thighs and hips - this is a fat store (nice!) for breastfeeding. If you try to restrict weight gain too much this can hinder BF if you don't have the fat reserves.

Goats I agree the changes are overwhelming the first time regardless of your starting size. If you've had an eating disorder it must be especially hard. I'm actually enjoying it this time remembering its part of the process. Don't forget your blood volume increases 40% so that is a big chunk of the weight gain. I'll eat your sugar for you Wink .

No spa day today. An example of how the 'make them fit to your life' philosophy we all hopefully spout when preggers can fall down in reality. He is too poorly, would just have screamed solidly for me in his pushchair (in turn ensuring I wouldn't actually have enjoyed or relaxed at the spa), and would be contagious to preggers ladies who've not had CP and anyone immuno-compromised like folk having chemo. So today we fit our lives to his. A thousandth rendition of 'the Snail and the Whale' it is then. Confused Sad . I was really looking forward to a pedicure as my feet look like an old blokes! (nice).

sazzlehopes · 13/05/2014 10:53

HA - love you all for playing along and driving yourselves equally mad! In a way it's been good for me because it has proved I need to find out at my scan rather than wait to the end like I thought I could. I was much stronger willed last pregnancy!
I've done 4 others and they all say boy though, that one is the only one to say girl so we will see. I'd be surprised if they say girl next week though...
porcito chinese calendar is different to ours so they consider when you are conceived i think to be you birth day, or something to do with the lunar calendar so you are older than you are... When do you find out?

I'm SOOOOO with you all on that gender divide stuff. I loathe it as much for my boy when people try and make him 'tough'. He's a sensitive creature and isn't into it all, why does he have to be?! Recently at a friends princess themed party the goody bags were handed out at the end - princess ones for the girls and pirate one ones for the boys (ARGGGHHHH) and to the mums amazement he wouldn't have the pirate one he wanted the princess one! Kids are young and free for so little time, why define them when they'll have a life of that anyway!

loulou not sure, we don't have scales in the house - phew!

Welcome furry so glad to hear your good news after your mcs. I was team yellow for my first and it was wonderful, but I'm become more impatient in my older age Grin

Oh yellow so sorry you aren't going to your spa day - I hope that you can re-book for later on.

Loulou888 · 13/05/2014 11:49

Sorry you've missed out on your day yellow lost count of the times ive missed out due to little ones being poorly but I wouldn't have it any other way and wouldn't leave them.

I put weight on really easily goats trying to be good diet wise. I was a stone heavier at bfp than with my other two. Hoping that BF will once again be kind!

Had my first free prescription this morning that felt nice! Lol

ohthegoats · 13/05/2014 11:58

While I was puffing up a hill at the weekend, boyfriend said 'It's only to be expected, as well as doing all that work with growing the baby, you're putting on weight too...'

I couldn't stop thinking about that one comment all day. Irrational, I KNOW I'm putting on weight, I know I'm meant to put on weight.. no need to point it out!!

gunwalloe · 13/05/2014 11:59

Anomaly scan later today I hope she plays ball as it's so late in the day I don't think I will have the going for a walk to move her option.

ohthegoats · 13/05/2014 12:00

Hmm.. I still haven't had my prescription card, despite applying for it in about February.

LondonJen · 13/05/2014 12:10

Gosh chatty ladies, has taken me ages to catch up!

Work has gone insane but just stopping in to say lovely to read nice scan news.

The chinese predictor tells me girl. Can't wait to find out if it's right next week!

I love bright colours normally and will be getting multipacks of body suits with brights I think. I expect gifts may go down the blue or pink route but it will be interesting to see! I bought a toy box already, which has robots on and the mobile I want to get is space themed. I don't see those as boy things but I suspect my MIL will.

gunwalloe · 13/05/2014 12:22

goats I would definitely chase that up myn arrived just over a week after I had filled it in at the docs

Loulou888 · 13/05/2014 12:29

Definitely sounds like they haven't had your application.....or it's been lost in our wonderful postal service goats

puppythedog · 13/05/2014 13:29

Hello chatty ladies, not as chatty chap here :-)
Just caught up after missing a couple of days. We sit firmly in the we're not going to pink or blue our child camp. we're not against them having pink and or blue but we don't want to define them so early by one aspect of who they are.
We love the stuff that's white or off white with multi coloured stars, spots, campervans or whatever on.

Goats ever you want to chat drop me a line, it's what I do for a living. Yes everyone finds changes hard and odd. If I have a beard for a while and shave it off I feel weird and what most people don't talk about is how normal unhappy feelins about your body can be.

Scans look ace, we're not going to find out sex of baby and we're not really sure we want to know much about anomolies other than viability. Our scan in end of the Month, Two weeks on Thursday.

magichandles · 13/05/2014 13:46

goat give them a call - my prescription card turned out to be still on their system as they had a query about my address and it was sent out that day.

ohthegoats · 13/05/2014 13:56

I think I'm just feeling it right now because it's filling in all my 'gaps'. I'm a big boobed, big bummed size 14 (due to those body parts), with a size 10 - 12 waist. Obviously a baby bump is starting now to fill out those gaps - I certainly don't have a waist anymore. So.. to me I just look all round fat. Once I have a proper bump shape that sticks out more than my boobs, I expect i'll feel better.

I also get that it's because I've got body 'issues', so am fairly judgemental about other people (not correctly, obviously!), and assume that everyone else is similarly judgemental about me.

MEMEMEMEMEME... haha.

Kirstipops · 13/05/2014 14:01

Welcome furry, chuffed to bits for you that you've got this far :)
If any newbies want to join the Facebook group running alongside this thread just drop me a wee message on here :)
Good luck on your scan gun :) I'm still buzzing after mine!!

ohthegoats · 13/05/2014 14:14

I still haven't told most people I'm pregnant, after next week when I see certain friends I've not seen yet, I'll join the FB thingy. Also it's my scan next Tuesday.

Georgebythesea · 13/05/2014 14:29

Hello all,Hope everyone's having a good day! Nice to see people's scans..exciting! I've got my 20 week scan on Monday, feeling quite nervous because I've been so sick since week 7 and so unable to take vitamins or eat that healthily(though gradually improving).I just really hope everything's ok! Think i felt some movement today though it was more like a mini thud inside then butterflies or bubbles!!? Thinking of everyone xx

Loulou888 · 13/05/2014 14:36

Sounds like it was the baby george it's does make the sickness worthwhile but glad it's improving for you. Mine has gone from all day to mostly evenings now, is anyone else tarting to struggle with bending over to reach their toes? Painted mine last night and it was a struggle.... And it's only going to get worse.

YellowWellies · 13/05/2014 15:04

George my wee boy was a thudder. He used to specialise in back flips and knees to the ribs.

Kirsti I'd love to join the FB group can you PM the details? xx

Looks like he's got chicken pox IN his mouth and throat and we've to head to hospital if the cough persists in case its in his lungs Shock !
