Haha yellow my DH is from highlands and can't say I am envious of your trip, I'm not one for the outdoors. God I need a holiday, haven't been anywhere all year and trying to save annual leave for maternity means I have just one week off between now and sept!! Roll on end of June I say.

mum2kiss · 13/05/2014 21:50

I'd love a holiday! Dp.and I are off for a weekend in the new forest at the end of the month...I think that will be our holiday for this year!!!

Yay for all the good scans and naughty babies hiding their vital bits!

We are camp yellow...im really starting to think we are having a girl...guess I'll find out in october!

Well the long awaited pgp physio appointment is tomorrow! Really really hope that they are helpful. Nightimes are becoming difficult because my hips really hurt when I am asleep :(

Indigestion has return too :( I feel like every day there isa new ache or pain...I dont recall all this with dc1!

I too have no idea how much I weigh. I asked do to be honest yesterday and tell me if I've gained weight. He said probably about a stone!!!!! I was hoping for about 7lbs max!

Kirstipops · 13/05/2014 22:25

Yellow, a holiday's a holiday! I love camping too. I don't have any holidays booked at all as I'm saving annual leave to tag onto maternity leave too, saving a week for doing my intensive driving course in June or July, would far rather use the money for a last minute week in the sun though!

fatpony · 13/05/2014 22:32

So nice to hear all the good scan news!

What are your thoughts on stretch mark cream? Splash out or just bio oil? Dothe stretch mark creams work at all or just pyschological?!

pebble82 · 13/05/2014 22:39

fatpony I had the same debate today. Aldi do a version of bio oil for much cheaper but not sure if it'll be as good. Would rather pay for something that works rather than spend less on something useless. Anyone tried it?

I'm sceptical but colleagues told me they definitely work. Difficult to know either way without a comparison. Maybe if someone does half their body only then we can test it out!

As well as Bio Oil which I put on twice a day, I've also got Palmers stretch mark cream as got loads free as samples from a Baby Show last year. Not tried it yet but I love coco butter smell so might just use it as a moisturiser anyway. Think I've been using too much oil as running out already and only used it for about 3 weeks.

YellowWellies · 13/05/2014 22:46

Pebble we alternated both of those and I got away lightly. Though genuinely it is pretty much genetics that decides.

after a couple of grumbles needing a quick cuddle and kiss about 8.30 he is still the f*ck asleep! Whoop whoop tonight preggerella you may (maybe!) get some kip!

porcito · 14/05/2014 00:39

I've got the Palmer's stuff. Not sure if it works yet, but it smells nice anyway!

I've just sent a list of things to be brought over from the UK when my parents come. I've lost count of the 'well...in my day we managed perfectly fine without... ' speech. Yes. And 2000 years ago women birthed in caves. I haven't even sent anything on my non-essential list yet.

It's so hot here right now I think I might melt away before the end of May. I've got my disgustingly hot feet in a bowl of water and about 16 fans going. No one has invented light maternity clothes here yet. For the neighbours' sake, hope it cools down so I can stop lounging around in my ill fitting underwear.

binkybunny · 14/05/2014 06:43

Hi all. More nice news about scans wish I didnt have to wait 3 weeks til ours!!! mrsb why could you not find out the gender? I'm worried we wont as two local hospitals wont tell gender now so lets hope ours does.

goats I'm having a few body issues as I'm normally a size 14-16 and the only way to keep myself on the healthier side of that is hardly eating and intense exercise. Of course I've not done either since bfp so feeling like a whale!.

Don't think I've put too much on elsewhere and hadnt put on lbs when I weighed myself a few weeks ago but have a huge stomach and bump. Thought it was baby but after previous comments about first timers not showing until week 20 something I'm not worried its just all fat Sad

yellow I would love a camping trip at Loch Ness. Sounds great!

fedupofrainydays · 14/05/2014 06:44

Morning.
I've got my consultant appointment this morning. Hope it goes ok and I'm allowed a vaginal delivery. We shall see. Been lying awake for a while trying to see if baby moves. Been worried abojt the lack of it despite being only 18 weeks. Think I just felt something so a bit more reassured. Hate having an anterior placenta!!

I use bio oil but probably nothing in it. I think you elate either going to get stretch marks or you don't. Not sure any creams or potions can prevent it! But I still use it!
I have some marks on my hips and boobs but that's from puberty rather than pregnancy.

fedupofrainydays · 14/05/2014 06:47

binky it's also fluid and bigger boobs. I've put on almost a stone and I'm not sure that's all fat. I did the se with ds and I'm normally a size 8 to 10. Interestingly with my mmc I are loads as still had ms but I didn't put on that much weight so am sticking by my theory of fluid and boobs as well as a but of fat!!

mrsb87 · 14/05/2014 06:50

binky I can find out but I have to pay for a scan either privately or at the hospital. Seems like a money making scheme to me. If I do it I will probably go private, they do some very reasonably priced mid week deals! I have a holiday booked in July, a week in Pembrokeshire by the seaside with my doggies and dh, really looking forward to it!

mum2kiss · 14/05/2014 07:20

I used bio oil last time around...my tumny looks like a road map...

binkybunny · 14/05/2014 07:32

fedup I'm going with your theory then. Makes me feel more pregnant and less fat!

mrsb that does sound like they are trying to make money. We'd said if they wont tell or babys not playing ball we wouldnt go private, we'd wait. But I really dont see that happening as I'm dying to know now!

We have a week away in Yorkshire in July for the Tour de France then a few days by the sea. We're also away in Henley for my sisters wedding and then having a day or two in the Lakes on the way home. Hoping to get a weekend away camping in the hills as well but time seems to be flying by!

ohthegoats · 14/05/2014 07:38

First day of wearing a maternity clothes item today. I just can't wear leggings and biker boots on a sunny day like today! The trousers I was so worried about fitting into, are fine.. and I've broke out the Birkenstocks. Going to waddle around like a properly pregnant person!

Look at that sunshine!

bumpbangbump · 14/05/2014 07:38

I've put on 2 stone!!! Yup that's right, you heard correctly... I'd been on slimming world before bfp and had lost nearly 3 so I'm still under my highest fattest weight. Just needed/wanted to be eating fat all the time and only recently been able to face fruit and veg again. Usually I love healthy food! The past two weeks have been hard with all the stress from work bit I'm back on it now. I'm hoping that next weeks weigh in will show a loss. Today's will probably be a smallish gain I think.

Imnot worried about it though. If I was able to loose weight before I will be able to again. Going to keep going to slimming world when pregnant, BT not give myself a hard time if I want to cheat occasionally, and then get back to being really strict after the baby is here.

Congrats on good scans ladies. Only 5 sleeps until ours. I'm determined to stay team yellow but ask me again on Monday and I may have changed my mind!

Kirstipops · 14/05/2014 08:04

My sister goes to Slimming World and a pregnant woman in her group ended up lighter full term than she was before she got pregnant! Her doc had OK'd her to stay on the "diet" during pregnancy, just shows that with the right support it can be done healthily. Imagine trying to be so strict with yourself during pregnancy though, ooft hells bells. Happily I seem to be back on my tangy fruit kick though, I'm onto my second pineapple since Sunday.
Also finally picked up my Bounty pack yesterday, didn't realise quite how much would be in it! Love the strip of vouchers for free stuff like belly bands and slings and the like, I'm just going to order them all!

furryleopard · 14/05/2014 08:10

Thanks all, I'm really excited to be this far along. I am taking 75mg aspirin a day and it seems to be doing the trick so far anyway.

We're going camping in the lakes in June but we upgraded to a wooden hut thing as I refused to squeeze into our tiny tent while 25 weeks pregnant!

I have woken with a headache today, I just don't like to take anything so will be muddling through at work trying to ignore it.

Is anyone else finding prams and travel systems a total mine field? We are completely and utterly confused...
Have a lovely day ladies xx

Captainmcgraw · 14/05/2014 08:18

I've put on over a stone and I was only 7stone to begin with (I'm only 4.11") so quite a lot. You really can lose a lot in the first 6 months though with exercise - lots of walking - and breastfeeding. It wasn't until I stopped breastfeeding that the weight shifted from my thighs though. My boobs got smaller - I was so disappointed as they're tiny to begin with. I'll probably literally have nothing left after I finish next time. Embrace your pregnany bodies ladies - I think this is the hardest time as you're just chunkier but once you have a huge bump it doesn't feel like fat anymore.

bumpbangbump · 14/05/2014 08:37

I'm not worried about it just want to eat properly as I think it's contributing to my bad mood! I love a big bowl of porridge with lashings of fruit I just have no will power for resisting a bacon sandwich if I've skipped brekkie. Last week I think I had one every day at work!! Stress makes me eat all the time

magichandles · 14/05/2014 09:02

binky - we're going up for the TDF as well, just for a long weekend though. We're also off to the New Forest on Friday for a week, then hopefully Center Parcs in September once DC1's school confirm her starting date.

I used bio oil religiously in both previous pregnancies and still got horrendous stretch marks - I did get very big very quickly with both pregnancies (GD) so I think that is what did it.

Loulou888 · 14/05/2014 09:10

I ended up with smaller boobs too captain seemed that went the milk went they frazzled away too. I'm liking my new boobs at the moment.

I'm using bio oil have done in my previous two. My mum and nan had no stretch marks. I hAve a small one across my tummy from ds. Weird how I got them across my hips and lower back due to weight gain/puberty but thus far got away lightly on the tummy ones.

Loulou888 · 14/05/2014 09:52

Has anyone tried a microwaveable bottle steriliser before? I'm liking the price tab and that some can be used with Milton.

magichandles · 14/05/2014 10:01

I've got a microwave steriliser and it's been fine - I like that it doesn't take up much room and I just store it in the microwave so it doesn't take up any counter space.

tak1ngchances · 14/05/2014 10:19

We are trying to book a holiday for next week...just to Portugal so DH can play a bit of golf and I can lounge about sunning myself.
I am applying bio oil every night, and dove moisturiser on my legs and arms. My skin got so dry in thx first trimester!!

YellowWellies · 14/05/2014 10:49

I love pregnancy for having a big round belly. No worries about sucking tummies in! By this time last pregnancy I'd put on nearly two stone. I reckon I'll have put a stone on this time by 20 weeks probably because I was still on a dairy free diet until the 12 week scan when I weaned J. Everything I craved in the first trimester had dairy in - so I couldn't gorge myself!

Lots of health authorities won't tell you the sex as a standard policy. On the island they wouldn't because the scanner was older and they didn't want mistakes. In other areas its because of a fear of sex selective abortions (often backstreet).
