coolcat I'm in the uti club too Sad . I suspect I could have hydronephrosis as I did in a previous pregnancy, as I had blood in my wee but no other symptoms which is how it was before. I gave a sample into my surgery and was phoned by the receptionist later that day to tell me I had a prescription for antibiotics waiting, other than that I have no idea what the sample showed! Got midwife next tues so ill ask then.

Hope everyone is doing ok, congrats on scan news to everyone who's had a recent one!

I'm now sporting a brutally short hair cut - I thought it best for keeping cool this summer, it's going to take a bit of getting used to though! It's also exposed rather a lot of grey hairs but I can't remember the rules on hair dye while pregnant, any hairdressers here? Smile

Ellabella - do you have a number to call MW on? If so maybe try that and see what they say. If no joy with that maybe try your GP?

Wow, Ella, that seems a long gap before seeing you MW again - I saw mine at booking, then at 16, then see her at 24,28 etc etc - do you have a number to call? Or a drop in? Go and see her - if nothing else, it sets your mind at rest.

Re hair - my hairdresser told me it was ok.

The Downs test I had was the one the hospital gave me at 12 weeks - measured nuchal fold and took blood. They did mention one called the NIPTY or NIFTY or somesuch. Not sure that really helps, actually, sorry!! xx

Ella that doesn't seem right that you weren't offered the Downs Syndrome screening. In an nhs booklet about screening tests that MW gave me at booking I'm sure it said that all women should be offered the choice of having this test.

And deffo not right that your BP and urine isn't being checked between 10w and 32w. I haven't had bloods done since 12w scan when I had the Downs Screening, but urine checks can pick up important things like UTIs or kidney problems so my mum (MW) says. What trust are you under? I'd deffo ring the MW and question them. If you've got your notes then it might say in there when your routine check ups should take place.

topmammy · 14/05/2014 18:24

Sorry x-post Ella. Glad you rang them! Hope they get you sorted :)

cookielove · 14/05/2014 18:28

I didn't think there were any more scans after the 20 week one?

Ella, ur mw should have asked u at ur booking in appt if u would like a downs test done. U had to hand the consent form in at the 12 week scan and then they do the checks at the scan then send u for bloods to b taken.. If u were not offered this, and u would of liked to have had the test, then def complain.

Teabiscuits · 14/05/2014 18:49

Ella I thought the next full blood count is 28weeks, but it really sounds like you have slipped through the net! There was a form on the back of my scan letter for downs screening, which I had to hand in at the first scan. Could you have missed the form or something and they assumed you didn't want it? I am v impressed you can get up at 8am to get kids ready for school, we are up at 6:45 ish to get ready, mind you I suspect DD2 was a tortoise in a past life Smile .

NHS website says hair dye is safe as far as they know, good enough for me, I've got a huge patch of grey, and I can't cope with that at 26! Blush

Landlord is coming over at about 8 to have a look at a leak under the sink. We haven't told them about the baby yet (going to be 4 kids in 2 bed house!) Im going to have to tell him, it's too obvious that I'm pregnant but I feel bad that we are having to tell them this way, we had planned to pop round to see them but never got round to it and now it probably looks like we were avoiding it. They are a lovely couple and I'm sure they will be ok with it, just feeling very irresponsible...

RedToothBrush · 14/05/2014 18:51

Ella where are you in the UK? Not everywhere offers down's screening routinely.

Also is the hospital you are going to your local one?

There was another poster upthread (I forget who) who was not getting appointments like everyone else because she wasn't going to the local Trust. I'm not sure if she resolved it. (I didn't have any bloods at 12week scan btw).

Your appointments all sound like they are the hospital ones - not the community ones which is why I am asking.

I am going to a hospital which isn't the preferred choice and have found it difficult to comprehend the system as they don't really tell you. I've had to independently book my community appointments through my local GP surgery. My hospital hasn't really told me to do this as such at my normal appointments, but I am aware of it, because I have had additional needs so its come up in additional appointments I've had. Its not a clear system at all.

ella very envious of you, mine take about 45 mins just to get dressed! Although I'm usually occupied with DS (11 months) so I suspect there is a lot of prancing about being princesses and fairies when I'm not in earshot!

DownstairsMixUp · 14/05/2014 21:23

Lovely photos Hippy love the look of your dress!

Whats the bloods for at 28 weeks?

teabiscuits I agree, i always read it was fine and dyed my hair throughout last pregnancy and he was fine! :P I couldn't cope with grey either, I'm bad enough with my natural hair so I don't blame you at all!

rockin lovely you are staying team yellow, wish I had the patience for it!

I'm also in the waking in the night club but I have been having awful pain in pelvis and hips and have been referred to the physio... lookss like i may have SPD :(

Missingcaffeine · 14/05/2014 22:10

I've been waking in the night as well - usually around 1-2am and then can't sleep again until 4-5am.
How are people feeling generally? At 21 weeks I thought this is supposed to be the 'best bit' of pregnancy, but I am still feeling knackered and have a long list of complaints: feeling uncomfortably fat, cramps in legs and feet most nights, exhausted, struggling to concentrate, struggling to sleep, dry skin, huge boobs, headaches, emotionally unstable. I'm sure I could think of more! Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying life more than weeks 6-12 when I could barely get off the sofa for nausea and tiredness, but I don't feel great. Is this normal? I was so energetic and never sat still before I got pregnant, this is such a change in my life.

lolee777 · 14/05/2014 23:08

Missingcaffiene, I'm 21 weeks and although I got away with minimal morning sickness I have been so so tired and still need to sleep when I get in from work. I also get up several times in the night and have been getting cramps in my calf muscles which is new this week.

Today i tried to join team yellow but again no patience...I can join team pink! lolee777 sept 25 can I join your crew?

lolee777 · 14/05/2014 23:14

Anyone here been told they have a low placenta? Its not too low but enough to need another check scan at 36 weeks. I am just so relieved everything OK with baby that not really thought about it today.

Teabiscuits · 14/05/2014 23:32

From what I remember (i may well be wrong on this) blood test at 28 weeks is to check iron levels etc.

ilovemonstersInc · 15/05/2014 08:25

Ive got my next appointment next week. The day afte4 driving test. Still wont go myself as the drive doesn't bother me it's the parking in a multi storey car park that is hardly ever not full. Dh has been driving for around 9years (even though hes only 25)

How is everyone?

According to swabs I have thrush even though I have no symptoms.

When is everyone doing hospital bags?
