Wow, it's only been 2 days and I've missed loads!
Maths, that must have been absolutely terrifying, so so glad that all is ok - keep your feet up and rest as much as you can.
Welcome to the newcomers!
Spannertime, I hope you're starting to feel better, I feel for you.
Happy to join a secret FB group but think this will be my predominant haunt.
I'm an atheist and consider religion to be at the root of so many of the problems in the world and it makes me angry on many, many ways.
Equally, I went to Sunday school as a child and think there is benefit in the warm and charitable side of Christianity and some of the wise parables. Plus I think that it's important to know about Christianity as it's always been a big part of British culture, and to learn about all religions to be well-rounded and to a well informed debate!
But, I want my child to develop their OWN strong moral code and be open-minded and accepting of people's differences.
DP feels the same, but stronger and more hostile to organised religion - however, I still bizarrely feel that baptism is somehow the right thing to do, despite being a non-believer.

Which is dreadfully hypocritical.
It has a lot to do with getting into the better schools around here but also, the official 'ceremony' of a christening.
Maybe a lovely humanist ceremony is the more honest thing for us to do.
I always feel uncomfortable when I've seen my friend's baby's christened and the godparents taking their vows when I know full well that they don't believe in God themselves and are just 'saying' it.
Hmm. That seems to have decided it.
Naming ceremony with a tree, special 'guardians', some nice speeches and poetry, some bunting and a lot of Prosecco.

Just need a name!
... But what about the good schools?!
