Hi everyone, we have run out of posts on our last thread so hopefully we'll all find this one easily enough.

Here is to more positive 12 week scans and enjoying our second trimesters, all feeling more human hopefully!

Our scan is today - just as nervous as with ds - I spent the whole of the last pg thinking 'but what if there's something they don't pick up on??' We won't harmony unless the downs risk comes back high though, although secretly I'd love it for the peace of mind. Not finding out gender although did with ds, I'd be happy with either outcome and it seems to amuse people being able to guess the anal side of me would like to know

weeonion agree with nanings - we have a very close knit group of friends and family so it was important to them for a naming to welcome ds to the lot of them in some ways, although they'd all obviously met him informally by then. It was a really good day and also great for us and his supporting adults to be able to promise that support 'on record,' as it were.

On a totally separate note has anyone else noticed that when not feeling sick they are feeling (ahem) rather amorous??

weeonion · 08/05/2014 08:37

northern exile and utopian99 - looking forward to hearing from you later!

good news for you hrmumness too!

StudyFullTime · 08/05/2014 09:10

Good luck with scans today ladies

Mine is at 1100, my DP can't make it so my mother is coming with me Smile

Annarose2014 · 08/05/2014 09:29

Good luck with scans!

utopian I keep waiting for this famous amorous stage to hit! Whilst I've been making the effort, it still feels like an effort. An enjoyable effort, but an effort none the less! Wink

I have been feeling stretching sensations all along my lower abdomen the last two days. I presume its just like growing pains? Ring a bell with anyone else?

I certainly seem a bit bigger this week (14). Its hard to tell as I got a belly very early on, but this seems quite round now, even with an empty stomach. And hard!

Still no changes to my body anywhere else - makes me even more convinced its a boy.

TwigletFiend · 08/05/2014 10:10

Good luck to everyone with scans today, lovely to hear more good news from yesterday's round of scans Smile

Ugh, definitely NOT feeling amorous! The nausea returned yesterday after coming out of my house to find that something had dragged out of the woods and eaten half a wild boar piglet ON MY DOORSTEP in the night - cue me vomiting all over my work clothes in full view of my horrified elderly neighbour. Feeling pretty horrendous again today too, tired and vaguely sicky Sad, on top of the discomfort from the UTI. Though have started ABs today, so hopefully that will be given short shrift!

I don't really have a tummy at all yet. By the evening I have a little poochy bit, but pretty sure that's just bloat! Confused Still flat in the mornings though. If one more person asks me, 'Do you look fat yet?', I'm going to shout!

On a side note, amorousness is clearly what got us in to this pickle. November is the month of Valentines babies, after all... Wink

Miskate · 08/05/2014 10:39

I'd be interested to know how many people planned, or already were trying to get pregnant in February, and how many people had a lovely surprise?

We had it planned as we were using the fertility drug clomid, and had been trying (properly) since September but CONTROVERSIALLY I was extremely keen to have a baby born September-December as I feel it gives a substantial advantage to be "old in your year" at school. I am an August baby and have always been smaller and younger looking than peers - my husband is a September baby and agrees he had a massive advantage at school.

PosyFossilsShoes · 08/05/2014 10:52

Hah miskate we did the same sort of timing - I am a September baby but was put up a year at school for being a swot innit, and was academically fine but v much behind my peers socially / artistically / in sport, and DP is a Christmas baby and we wanted one that would be 'old in its year' but not doomed to a life of joint Christmas and birthday presents and nobody coming to its party. If this one hadn't worked we would have had a month's break.

utopian yes to feeling amorous when not sick, but unfortunately the last few days have been one long puke.

I woke up this morning with a rash on one side of my face. I am semi-convinced I have rubella. (The symptoms of rubella are practically identical to the symptoms of pregnancy.) But I was told I was immune to it so should I a) go to the GP and potentially waste their time for my peace of mind or b) pull myself together?

Thisisimpossible · 08/05/2014 10:55

Hi all, just been catching up with the (seems like) million posts I've missed over the last ten days or so as I've been so busy with work. Great news about all the scans - congratulations to all of you who've had them, I've really enjoyed reading your excited post-scan posts.

Miskate, ours was a lovely surprise Smile as we thought it was never going to happen.

Symptoms wise I'm less tired than I was but I'm unbelieveably hormonal. If I'm not raging and angry I'm crying my eyes out. I am so pleased to be pregnant, but it is hard work at the moment.

Reading what you have all been up to and are feeling has helped me to realise I'm not the only one - thank you Smile

Dating scan on Friday...hoping that all will be well.

Miskate · 08/05/2014 10:56

Posy - go to the doctor if it is still there by lunchtime. Have you used anything different at all, like face wash, moisturiser, fabric conditioner?

Thisisimpossible · 08/05/2014 10:57

Oh, and my ribs are killing me - worse in the evening. I'm 11+5. Is anyone else getting this?

ladydolly · 08/05/2014 10:58

Ours was planned, we started trying in December and had a chemical pregnancy that month, I didn't ovulate in January and then bingo in Feb. I wouldn't have 'not tried' later in the year when we would have had a summer baby but I am pleased it's an early in the school year baby and not too close to Xmas either.

Our due date means we conceived on V day which I find massively cringey!!! So far no one has noticed when I've told them the due date though... DP thinks it's hilarious!!

As for amorous now, I just don't have the energy!!

PosyFossilsShoes · 08/05/2014 11:00

It's fading but still there - and nothing new in terms of face wash, but I am prone to eczema (never had it on my face though!!)

I did eat a whole pack of strawberries last night (couldn't face real food and they were reduced)… I wonder if it's a mild reaction to eating QUITE that many of them?

Nessalina · 08/05/2014 11:18

Morning ladies Smile
Good luck to those with scans!
We had ours last week, and everything looks fine thank goodness. We decided to pay for the NIFTY test which is pretty much the same as Harmony, so had the bloods drawn last Weds for that and waiting for results now... Only cost 200 quid because our NHS hospital has started doing it at cost price and they're undercutting the private clinics! Grin
Scan moved my dates forward a whole week Grin now 14+2

Annarose2014 · 08/05/2014 11:23

Ours was planned - though felt quite miffed at antenatal appt when they ask you if it was planned or not. What earthly difference does it make to them?!

By the way, the famous ASOS leather leggings arrived. I think if I had skinny legs I'd love them - they're comfy and definately badass. However my Wayne Rooney legs look appalling in them - like two shiny black overstuffed sausages! So regretfully they'll be going back.

On the plus side though, I got the "Kate" dress and its a success. Its very flattering, or as flattering as maternity wear is, iykwnim. Its T shirt material, so creases, but it does mean its super comfy. You could wear it to bed. Makes my boobs look huge, but hey ho - they are!

Miskate · 08/05/2014 11:23

posy - it could be the strawberries? I personally think if you are worried you should speak to a dr, can you call your midwife?

MrsWombat · 08/05/2014 11:29

Confused.com

MatB1 form needs to be handed in to work by 25 weeks. Midwife can't issue it until first appointment after 20 weeks. I have appointments at 16 weeks and 28 weeks. Who decided on those particular dates? a man Guess I'll have to pick it up from the clinic or she can post date it at the 16 week appointment? Bizzare!

Elliekins · 08/05/2014 11:35

Wow, it's only been 2 days and I've missed loads!

Maths, that must have been absolutely terrifying, so so glad that all is ok - keep your feet up and rest as much as you can.

Welcome to the newcomers! Smile

Spannertime, I hope you're starting to feel better, I feel for you.

Happy to join a secret FB group but think this will be my predominant haunt.

I'm an atheist and consider religion to be at the root of so many of the problems in the world and it makes me angry on many, many ways.
Equally, I went to Sunday school as a child and think there is benefit in the warm and charitable side of Christianity and some of the wise parables. Plus I think that it's important to know about Christianity as it's always been a big part of British culture, and to learn about all religions to be well-rounded and to a well informed debate!
But, I want my child to develop their OWN strong moral code and be open-minded and accepting of people's differences.
DP feels the same, but stronger and more hostile to organised religion - however, I still bizarrely feel that baptism is somehow the right thing to do, despite being a non-believer.
Blush
Which is dreadfully hypocritical.

It has a lot to do with getting into the better schools around here but also, the official 'ceremony' of a christening.

Maybe a lovely humanist ceremony is the more honest thing for us to do.

I always feel uncomfortable when I've seen my friend's baby's christened and the godparents taking their vows when I know full well that they don't believe in God themselves and are just 'saying' it.

Hmm. That seems to have decided it.

Naming ceremony with a tree, special 'guardians', some nice speeches and poetry, some bunting and a lot of Prosecco.
Smile
Just need a name!

... But what about the good schools?!

Elliekins · 08/05/2014 11:42

Ladydolly, we conceived on Valentine's Day too, it's such a cliché!
Poor child will one day figure it out and be extra embarrassed!
Oh well, it's sweet, in a twee way, I'm quite amused by it. Smile

Definitely not feeling amorous, I have very sore, swollen ankles and am wearing utterly horrendous compression bandages in the hope I de-swell soon.
Even if I was up for it, I doubt he would be!

alita7 · 08/05/2014 12:36

We also dtd on valentines day :p it is rather cringe worthy!

I am not feeling amorous... dp whose sex drive fluctuates in long cycles (like months ) has had a low sex drive for ages but in the past week has actually 'pounced' on me twice!! I am ok with it - it boosts my self esteem at a time like this but I don't really have a sex drive myself atm.

I'm getting random twinges is that what people mean?

how are scans going? I'm anxious to hear about hopeful s harmony test! Now I wish I'd been able to afford one to find out the gender now :p

alita7 · 08/05/2014 12:38

Also posy I've heard of allergies getting worse or even appearing in pregnancy, so probably strawberries or a face cream. but double check if you're worried!

Hopeful83 · 08/05/2014 13:04

Haven't got time to read all the past messages so sorry if I'm ignoring posts but just wanted to let you know that I got my harmony results. All the results were fine and it's a girl! Smile

Annarose2014 · 08/05/2014 13:04

Gosh, stretching pains getting really quite uncomfortable now. Feels like something dragging quite hard at me on either side of my belly. have had to put my bump band on just for support.

I know its normal, but its rotten! Just when I stopped being sick something else comes along! Angry

Annarose2014 · 08/05/2014 13:05

Congrats Hopeful! Had you any feelings either way before this?

alita7 · 08/05/2014 13:10

That's brilliant hopeful!! :D I think we've got two girls on the thread now! 6 weeks exactly til my 20 week scan and I can find out!!! what are people planning to do if they can't see the gender? I think I'd have to book a gender scan for the next day haha.

my twinges are kinda electricy not massively painful, are others having these?

TwigletFiend · 08/05/2014 13:35

Oh congratulations Hopeful! Grin How lovely!

I'm unashamed to say that our pregnancy was completely unplanned - I was actually taking the pill when the bean was conceived. We were both unsure as we've not been together that long and I'm only 24 (which I know isn't that young, but is still younger than I'd planned on being when I had children!). But we're both really happy to be parents now, despite some 'it could have happened at a better time' thoughts on both sides. I'm not sure there would ever be the perfect time! We're really excited - though quite nervous - about the baby now that it's really sinking in Smile

I haven't had any discomfort/pains in my abdomen at all. Do you think it's something to worry about? Confused I'm quite slim, so would have thought I'd feel that sort of thing reasonably acutely.
