lolzing at the birth speed!
You're so close now you'll forget all about this once you're in! Must be a big place for all your little ones to fit in, I'm picturing a rambling farmhouse....?

mixi82 · 01/05/2014 20:56

Mine popped a while ago, my DSS has I tiny prod now and then and says it's really soft lol

AuntieMaggie · 01/05/2014 21:05

I hate writing sympathy cards - what I write always seems so naff once I've written them :(

My belly button is still firmly in but I just noticed my scars that are not lined up where they normally are and its annoying (the middle one is over to the right of my belly!) - not that I'm anal about these things...

I bought new pants though and some rather nice ice cream in sainsburys!

ZingWatermelon · 01/05/2014 21:27

Auntie

don't worry, they will see your support and feel your love.
that's all that matters

patchwork
aha, the Amish approach!Grin
afraid not!

new house is only about 10% bigger (in square footage) than this one, but the garden is much bigger so we will get an extension done to double the living space.
so a very interesting year ahead.

Oh zing how frustrating... Moving house is such a test of nerves and patience!

drama hope you're ok?

Think I must've used up the sympathetic nice midwives last night- rang triage about popping in for a check and got mrs super unsympathetic surely you should see your gp rather than us response... Though she seemed happy that baby would be fine if it was still moving lots. I'd have much preferred to get it and me checked out but just don't have the energy to go down there and do battle with mrs awkward! Pain does seem to be easing slowly though so I'm hoping for a better night. Just wish DH would snap out of his super grump as it's driving me potty and not helping matters!!

NancyinCali · 01/05/2014 21:47

Just back from a mammoth shopping trip (I needed cheering up after an awful nursery drop-off, my DD is transitioning to a new room and finding it really unsettling so we both ended up sobbing).

I justified all the clothes and shoes for DD as they'll be handed down to her baby sister eventually. DH not quite buying that justification.

AuntieMaggie · 01/05/2014 21:55

I'm worried about foxtrot - the last we heard from her was Friday when she was having painful contractions...

zing you madwoman I can't believe you're planning an extension too! We need work done later this year (our room needs chimney breast removing and pretty much gutting) and it makes me anxious to think about it already!

Hope those of you feeling ill feel better and everyone sleeps well tonight.

NancyinCali · 01/05/2014 22:04

I missed that maggie. Hope you're okay foxtrot!

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 01/05/2014 22:11

Good evening all!

Zing hope you manage to exchange soon.

I'm quite shocked to see what a party the insomniacs have been having here! I hope you all start getting some sleep.

I had my last scan on Tuesday. It was the lovely sonographer who did my last two scans which was nice. Everything is ok. Baby weighs 1.6kg at 31+2 weeks and measuring fine.

I then saw the midwife at the hospital yesterday. It was all ok until she said I wouldn't see the consultant where I can ask for an ELCS until my last appointment when I will be 39+2 weeks Hmm and said casually that I shouldn't have any problem with a VBAC and would get extra monitoring without any opportunity to have a discussion of why I'm requesting an ELCS, which is because I don't want to go risk having another EMCS (DS's birth I had a crash c section for foetal distress, DS born in very bad condition with APGAR of 1 and 2, and I didn't see him until 1 hour afterwards).

I will see my GP to see what she suggests prior to my next mid wife appointment at the end of the month. I'm not in the UK so can't go in waving nice guidelines and perhaps need to better understand the system here.

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 01/05/2014 22:15

Smile I'm fine! Cross post! Thank you for worrying.
The painful contractions stopped and since I have the pleasure of an internal examination at each midwife appointment I now know that the contractions haven't opened the cervix anymore in the last month.

BlueC2 · 02/05/2014 01:26

AWake and munching cookies and having next set of paracetamol but woohoo the pain seems to dying down and is just on one side now :)

foxtrot glad to hear you're ok though sounds v frustrating with the MW re ELCS!

Nancy loving the retail therapy and justification of spending! Hope DD settles soon

Maggie and zing we haven't done an extension but have done a lot of DIY and some building work since we moved into this house when DS 5months - I can def say that if you can cope the earlier the better before baby crawling and into everything! We still need to do biggest bit of work yet which will trash whole of downstairs before it's put back together and I'd like to PM it while on mat leave if we can release the funds to do it!

icklekid · 02/05/2014 03:06

Wide awake but not surprised! Waves at blue!!! Was no where like as sick last night which is a huge bonus really don't think I could cope with that again!

mixi you have made my day/week/month!!! I would be over the moon- please pm me your email address so I can send a proper thank you!

zing gutted but hopefully not long now!

foxtrot def go to gp and ask because otherwise you will just be frustrated...

Nct last night was about labour- apparently the number of unplanned home births is on the up as people wait too long before going in. Was quite amusing- got dh/dp to go into separate room to answer qs about what they would do when go into labour and dfor that one they had all sorts of things culminating in you tube how to give birth! The answer was if you can see the head you haven't got time to do anything so just stay there and catch! Well thats my simplified version anyway! Looked at lots of pictures of what actually happens to uterus and cervix etc. Absolutely terrified now...not because she made it scary but because I have clearly been in denial!

icklekid · 02/05/2014 04:12

So in my wide awake state I thought I would do a review of what to read on mn for you all...

For inspiration read this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/life_limiting_illness/2053259-Not-a-good-day-leukaemia-diagnosis

And the prize for least varied advice goes to this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/breast_and_bottle_feeding/2068028-Nipple-Cream-Which-one

Plateofcrumbs · 02/05/2014 05:19

Hello insomniacs! Smile

Glad to hear the contractions weren't serious foxtrot and that blue and ickle are doing a little bit better.

Enjoyed NCT class - our teacher is nice and not at all preachy, the group all seem nice. Had DPs practicing massage techniques today - mine needs a bit of practice but it did really sort out my back which had been agony all day!

Feeling way more relaxed and positive after the scan earlier, I had been much more worried about that than I thought.

blue v impressed at idea of you PMing building work during mat leave! Starting to wonder if I'm being too negative about idea of us building an extension in near future. Idea of being stuck at home with baby and house full of builders and dust and noise still sounds like hell though. I've already told DH if he wants us to do it he needs to factor in cost of a flat for me to live in whilst it's being done!

icklekid · 02/05/2014 05:40

Goid to hear massage being covered in nct plate will have to make sure it is included in ours too! Totally agree about non preachy and lovely group of people too, fingers crossed they feel the same way!

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 02/05/2014 06:34

Icklekid - I don't eve need to click on the nipple cream which one link to tell you what the answer will be!

BlueC2 · 02/05/2014 07:42

I think I might be feeling a bit better and actually managed best nights sleep I've had for at least 2 weeks Grin woohoo! Dh still in a grump though hence the whispering as he'll get v frustrated if he thinks I'm a bit better and then regress.

plate it all depends on the extent of what you're having done and how good the builders are but babies are fairly flexible and portable (well DS was-he coped with moving rooms 3 times on top of moving house and general furniture chaos til he was 9 months-not sure he'd cope so well now though).

ickle so glad you weren't as sick last night-hope you got some sleep

Right-breakfast calling! Catch up later

ZingWatermelon · 02/05/2014 07:48

Fox

there must be a way for you to get heard about why you want ELSC.
GP surely is a good first step but it's the head MW of or Consultant/Surgeon you eventually want to speak to, can you just contact them directly?
39 weeks is a bit late to book C-section IMO.

(mine was booked at 36 week with DS4 and I was told off it should have been done earlier.
"umm, well sorry, but we only discovered baby was breech this week.....you idiot - is what I should have saidAngry )

blue & maggie

we had a loft conversion done 7 years ago - phase one lasted for two months when I was in 3rd trimester with DS4.
we stayed at PILs and only moved back 2 days before he was born.

phase two started when he was about 3-4 months old and all finished by the time he was 9 months old.
it was tough but we had no choice.
we signed the contract for it a week before I found out I was pg, so had to get on!

this time will be a bit different but we need to crack on as we so desperately need a sewing room for me the space for all of us!

for once I had 8 hours sleep.
DH is working from home which makes life so much easier - hoping for a productive day

Happy Friday everyone! Smile

Incapinka · 02/05/2014 08:52

8 hours sleep???? Wow. That's amazing. Can only imagine what that feels like. I had about 4. If that. And still knackered and emotional and feeling guilty for not being my usual chilled out, happy self. Thank goodness 3/4s of the way through!!

NancyinCali · 02/05/2014 08:59

I'm awake (1am) :(. Hoping a stint of reading on the sofa will help me nod off.

AuntieMaggie · 02/05/2014 10:32

foxtrot I'm glad everything is ok :)

Belly is uncomfortable again this morning - another growth spurt?

Hope everyone else is ok.

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 02/05/2014 12:09

AuntieMaggie They do seem to come in waves don't they? I am almost too big to paint my own toenails now...

ismarah · 02/05/2014 12:30

It's our first NCT session tomorrow morning. Because it's a long one we're supposed to bring snacks. If this wasn't my first baby, I'd obviously have baked the placenta into a nice cake or maybe muffins to bring... Grin

What would be a suitable alternative? Jammie dodgers - do they even HAVE organic ones?? Organic couscous? Quinoa and tofu salad? Confused

Or as is more likely from me: Walkers crisps (fried not baked or popped), some bargain biscuit thing and err...Coke? Wink

Anyone have suggestions? Serious or otherwise Smile

Plateofcrumbs · 02/05/2014 13:07

Ismarah my NCT experience has been pretty stereotype free so far. We devoured a tub of bourbon biscuits last night.

In fact I've realised the most mossy, pretentious middle-class yummy-mummy in the room is...me. Blush

On the other hand some friends of mine reported that their NCT class was much more true to stereotype but they live in prime London 'nappy valley' territory and we live in The 'Burbs.

ismarah · 02/05/2014 14:03

Tsk spoil my fun! Grin

Our instructor is apparently also a homeopath which DH finds a bit hmmm-inducing.

We are also in the leafy Home Counties where everything is very naice. This could go either way.

Shall bring a pack of biscuits and supermarket own brand crisps.
