I'm living in my leggings at the moment. Won't even attempt to upset myself over jeans let alone my size 12 work trousers.
Luckily the weight gain seems to have steadied ATM. Wanna keep it at bay for just a bit longer. Already feeling tighter under the tummy if I gently press can feel its a bit harder but it's under flab so pretty sure ppl think I'm just looking rounder than usual for no reason lol!

SassehMonsta · 06/05/2014 07:55

Oh daddypig sounds tricky with work! I'm still trying to get my head round the whole "we're having a baby and once she/he is here everything will be different"

Today's aims are

  1. To go to work
  2. To make it to knit night down the pub tonight
  3. To eat some proper food
  4. To not throw up my folic acid tablet again

Here goes nothing! 8+1

Feel like a fraud just retching and not actually puking.

Woke up feeling super horrid this morning. I've so far been an afternoon/evening nausea person so yhis is unexpected. Feel dizzy and sick and so so weak. Rang my head and said I'd at the very least be late in. still retching 40 min later.

Also feel like a right soft arse for calling in sick :(

Martie1 · 06/05/2014 08:45

I all, i agree with so many of you on the feeling constant nausea. I had two great days last wk and thought I was getting over it but it return with a bang on Friday and have been feeling horrendous since. I'm so tired but I'm bored of sleeping! I want my old life back (not really, but u know what I mean.) all I'm eating us chips, crisps and fruit! What a healthy diet!

also told dh's parents on Sunday and sister. Turned into a complete farce with his sister immediately blurting out that another family member is pregnant and due around the same time. It seemed like a bloody competition! I was so cross at her telling someone else's news but couldn't say anything, they're less along than us and cross at her inability to just congratulate us and have our moment. She's a horrible selfish cow and dh pulled her on whether or not she was supposed to be telling. She had no straight answer and went with the line that the other couple had an early scan. If they wanted to tell us they would have! Now she can't be trusted to keep her mouth shut. Dh's parents congrats got totally lost in the 'competition' and then we have to be really abrupt and tell them that no one else was to be told. Thankfully they agreed that it was our news to tell. I wouldn't mind but dh's sister has small kids of her own so she should know better! It just fills me with dread for what the next year is going to be like- I think the best way to deal with her is avoidance! She's going to be full of her advice that we will 'have' to listen to, and/or be full of how the other couple are doing this instead of that. Argh!!!!

Martie1 · 06/05/2014 08:46

Btw! We're 9 wks today!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 06/05/2014 08:50

The carrot on a string for me to get through today is a whole day in bed tomorrow. Just gotta keep thinking about it.

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 06/05/2014 09:00

In that case may today pass really quickly! I am tempted to sneak off early.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 06/05/2014 09:28

Me too, BigHairy... I'm doing loads of overtime next month so I shouldn't feel guilty about disappearing at 4, but I do :/

DrewsWife · 06/05/2014 11:35

4 black bin bags of clothes gone so far! I'm sat down and hubby is handing things to me to sort through. Feels good. We agreed to stop at 1pm. Grin I have waaaay to many clothes!

KateJ28 · 06/05/2014 12:03

Just been for my scan and all looks fine, even a teeny weeny heartbeat! She thinks I may be just under 6 weeks rather than just over, but difficult to say. Anyway, feeling positive. Apparently i do have a heart shaped womb which is unusual but which she says shouldn't be a problem - does anybody else have this? I've read it can increase the chances of early pg, but hopefully all ok!!!

For now will just breathe a sigh of relief! 12 wk scan booked for 20 June which feels like AGES away!!!!

treacle, hope your blood test results went ok?

SassehMonsta · 06/05/2014 12:23

yay kate - its such a great feeling to see that little heartbeat throbbing away isn't it?

Today is dragging, got a stupid client driving me up the wall. Grrrrrr. Feel sick, can't face lunch.

Treaclepie19 · 06/05/2014 12:40

Brilliant kate :)
Glad all went well.

I'm still waiting. Have phoned them but they must be having their lunch.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 06/05/2014 12:53

I've made it to lunchtime! This afternoon I have someone else covering the till so I should be able to veg out at my computer with any luck.

Kate, that's great news, wish the hospital/midwife/doctor/whoever would get in touch and let me know when I can have my first scan!

I'm waiting on results of a blood test I had last week to check my thyroid, anticipating a meds increase which hopefully should help with the fatigue/fogginess I'm having.

Having a jacket potato with beans and cheese as carbs seem to settle my tummy for some reason.

I noticed lots of you are Midlands way; anyone in Surrey?

nickyjlees · 06/05/2014 12:55

Hi all, lots of new people here!
I haven't logged on in a while as been driving myself bananas with what if this, that or the other goes wrong scenarios so have tried to just focus on other things and relax.

Symptoms very on off at the moment, mainly just totally knackered and fallen asleep every 5 mins which is making me feel incredibly demotivated at work and in turn making me feel very guilty for not getting much done :S

Quick question, I have my booking appointment next week at which point i will be 11 weeks, is the midwife likely to listen for the heartbeat or is this not a usual thing done at the first appointment?

Hope everyone is well today!

CatFaceCrayola · 06/05/2014 12:56

Woman on the phone at antenatal bookings made me cry (not a very difficult task at present I admit!)

Trying to change my booking appointment to a time when I'll have to miss less work. She sighed and huffed at me when I kept turning down alternative appointments saying I work school hours. Settled on a 3pm appointment the week after the first one she gave me.

Then she was really negative saying "well, at that date you'll be cutting it very fine for a nuchal scan (which I've just had to Google as when I asked her what that was she didn't answer)"

Still not sure what a nuchal scan is but it says it's done between 11 and 14 weeks...but at this appointment I'll only be 10 weeks?? Confused.

stupid narky cow :(

nickyjlees · 06/05/2014 13:03

catface I have my booking in next week at which point i will be 11 weeks. When I spoke to them to book the appointment I mentioned that by this point time will be ticking on for me to get a scan booked especially as 2 weeks after my appointment I'm going on holiday for 2 weeks and when i get back I will be past 14 weeks. She said not to worry and that the scan will get booked in for some time during the fortnight between my booking appointment and me going on holiday.

CatFaceCrayola · 06/05/2014 13:05

Will regular 12 week scan and nuchal scan be done at the same time??

nickyjlees · 06/05/2014 13:20

Thats the impression that i was given, that it will be done at the same time as dating. Think it depends on your timings and your area but I think its quite standard to have the NT done at the same time as dating.

CatFaceCrayola · 06/05/2014 13:29

Dont know what the silly woman's issue was then. Why do people have to be so unhelpful. Surely in her job she must be aware that a large percentage of the people calling her will be hormonal, emotional pregnant ladies. A bit of kindness or friendliness never hurt anyone

nickyjlees · 06/05/2014 13:59

Yeah sounds like she was just being a bit mardy. Im sure that your midwife will be much nicer and will be able to explain everything properly :) I was a bit worried when seeing that lots of other people had already had their booking appointments but I don't think its that unusual to have your first appointment in the last couple of weeks of the first trimester... it just makes it feel like such a wait before anything actually happens tho!

CatFaceCrayola · 06/05/2014 14:06

So much waiting!! Driving me crazy!

Shanels · 06/05/2014 14:22

Hi ladies
I'm still worried about paranoidcoventgarden....has she been on at all recently?

I've been signed off work to sit and do nothing to stop discharge and spotting. Spotting has stopped but all I have now is discharge.

My cousin told me that she found out she was having a boy in her 12 week Nuchal scan privately.the scan was for checking Down's. I didn't think that was possible and am super excited as I would love to find out. Did you guys know?

I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and also from Surrey. And have had no communication from Kingston hospital.

Take care all
Xx

Somersetgirl1990 · 06/05/2014 14:27

Yay congrats kate, glad your scan went well!
Still haven't had my date through for my 12 week scan, just want to know when it is so I have something to look forward to!
I told my mum, stepdad and sister at the weekend, my sister is only 17 and is really excited, so this is gonna make me feel like a massive bitch but I already wish she didn't know. She's been constantly texting me with name ideas and asking me questions and stuff and I know she's just excited but this is exactly why I didn't want to tell anyone until 12 weeks. Especially as I'm feeling crap, and am also anxious about something going wrong. My dp thinks I'm just being grumpy and that I should be pleased that my family are excited but I just feel like it's a bit suffocating Confused im glad my mum knows, I hadn't planned on telling my sister but I'd text my mum before we got there saying that we have some news... By the time we got there her and my sister were sat at the table eagerly awaiting the news so didn't really have a choice.
Sorry to be so moany! Dp's mum knows as she's a midwife and she's been so lovely, just asking me how I'm feeling everyday and giving me little bits of advice, but then I suppose she sees first hand how hard it is when things go wrong and I'd imagine she sees it quite regularly.
Am I being a horrible cow?? I just want to hide under my duvet and ignore everyone!

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 06/05/2014 14:33

Congrats Kate.

My local private scanners will do gender scans from 14 weeks so guessing they go on nub theory before then?

Have only gained 2lbs but so bloated, hairband trick on my trousers here!

Pepsiaddict · 06/05/2014 14:42

Congratulations Kate! Nicky, we heard the heartbeat at 11 weeks at our booking appointment last time though it's not routine (or I think recommended).

Our trust does the dating and nuchal scan at the same appointment assuming timing is correct. There may be a lower age limit of 35 on the downs testing on the nhs but I think this has changed in the last year or so.

Hope everyone's day is going well and nausea is at bay. I'm about to go and y to remove the dog shit and mud that FIL covered the cream hall carpet in when he brought the pram indoors. It lives in the garage for a reason! May puke when doing this......
