Aww PFJ I often think of you and how you're doing. It's so hard when you lose a baby and the due date is approaching. Sending you lots of love and strength xxx

moobaloo · 30/04/2014 13:46

Hi PFJ! Great to hear from you!

Thanks for the contraction timer, great idea. Dp is very keen to be 'in charge' of timing contractions and he loves a good gadget!

Xxx

Choppa · 30/04/2014 13:58

Lovely to hear from you PFJ...think about you often! It is hard getting to the due date when you have had a MC or loss. Take care of yourself xxx

Choppa · 30/04/2014 14:06

Finally pulled together the rest of the stuff I need for home delivery and we also tested pool at the weekend. All set. Tried TENs machine on my arm this morning and remembered how nice it feels! Hope it can get me through the first few hours :)

Impatiently...congrats on reaching your due date. I think you'll be our first officially overdue mum to be tomorrow if your LO doesn't arrive today. Sounds like you have a few symptoms though so hopefully it won't be long.

Debs....I hope the baby has turned for you. At least a scan will tell you one way or another. My little one is now head down (well, he was last week) but was breech for ages. It's amazing they can actually find the room to turn!!

No signs here at all except me being a moody b*h. I'm still betting on 15th ish of May for this one (due 12th)...2 more weeks seems so long! Gah.

mumof2aimingfor3 · 30/04/2014 14:22

PFJ! How are you gorgeous lady? So lovely to hear from you. Every time I want to gripe/moan/bitch about being pregnant I think of you and others that we had bow out over the early months and stop myself in my tracks.

MrsFooCough · 30/04/2014 15:14

Agreed mumof2 - I complain and complain and then think of others who aren't as lucky (lucky?!?!!) to get to the stage of complaining like this.
In that vein, hello pfj it's BRILL to hear from you again!!!!

I posted this on FB but thought I'd come here for Even More Sympathy: I'm now on insulin as well as metformin.
Sad
Sigh. Did some test jabs with the diabetes nurse and - good news - they don't hurt! Didn't even feel it! Cried a bit (although not snotty ugly crying thank god) when they told me I should go on insulin though. I've been trying so damned hard to avoid it, but I'm sure it's nothing too bad for just a few weeks. I just think of Type 1 diabetics who do it all day every day for the rest of their lives and it rather humbles me Blush

sambababy · 30/04/2014 15:17

pfj I think I joined this thread later too, but it's so lovely of you to remember the other ladies and come back to say hello.

If anyone else is still trying to master the art of perineal massage or would just like a laugh, watch this video. She is hilarious!

MoominAndMiniMoom · 30/04/2014 15:32

Essay done and submitted! Thank goodness for that. Callie's been good as gold in uni too - she's had cuddles with my lecturers Grin

Vikks · 30/04/2014 15:54

Aww PFJ so lovely to hear from you. I'm so emotional at the moment, I keep welling up at these post and pictures. Take care x

ThePFJ · 30/04/2014 16:13

For the girls who have thought of me.... that's just ... adjectives fail me right now... but it has put a smile on my face.. it really has. Me and my monty python jokes and sarcasm... it was really fun being here with you girls. Monday May 12th will be tough for me I expect, you are right... but my friends who are normally very busy just happened to invite me to travel 3 hours on a train to have a drunken girls weekend on the 9th just before that date.... very sneaky and really nice of them... so I will be pissed and happy instead on crying on my hubby's shoulder hopefully. Monday will be hangover day and I should be more worried about loud noises and whining about how 'I'll never drink wine again' - classic me.... so don't worry about me Smile

If anyone drops a gorgeous baby or even babies on the 12th don't feel bad... just laugh at my hangover! Wink

ohdearitshappeningtome · 30/04/2014 16:39

ThanksPjf !! It's lovely to hear from u! Please keep in touch (if u feel like it that is ) xxx

dobedobedo · 30/04/2014 17:19

bush I'm still pretty bad tbh. There's been a slight improvement since this morning - I'm having to use the crutches to even stand and I've pretty much stayed on the sofa all day. I spoke to my consultant's secretary and I want to give it a chance to improve before they go and book an induction. If it hasn't improved by tomorrow, I've got physio on Friday and if that doesn't do anything by Monday, then I'll probably agree to an induction. Fingers crossed it will sort itself out though. In the past a day or two of total rest has worked wonders!

spirael I love baby books, ds reads the one I kept for him all the time! We managed to find the exact same one for this baby and ds has even filled some of it in Smile

mrsfoo Sorry to hear you have to use insulin, but hopefully it won't be for long. Will things go back to normal when the baby is born? Also bonus on not being able to feel the needles!

Hope everyone else is doing well. Baby still not showing signs of coming anytime soon, apart from sporadic and sometimes painful contractions which always turn out to be nothing!

hobbjobb · 30/04/2014 17:57

Induction booked for 11th may, yes!!!

moobaloo · 30/04/2014 18:22

PFJ you are just fab xxx

Excellent news hobb! How exciting! Xxx

Dobe, massive sympathies! Hope the rest and physio makes you more comfortable and fingers crossed you'll get your baby soon as well! Xxx

MrsFC, sympathy from me, I don't know how anyone with diabetes, gestational or otherwise, can do it. Brave ladies all of you xxx

Moomin, well done! Can't imagine completing an essay so soon after giving birth, and it must be fab taking her to uni to show her off!!

I did a fair bit of cleaning earlier, a few hours worth and was up and down, hands and knees, crouching bending you name it. Now feel SO VERY STIFF and achy and ouch. Is this normal pregnancy stuff or just me being unfit?? I don't have spd or pgp. I lay down for a bit but felt even stiffer when I got up. I'm like an old lady!

Hair cut and eyebrows shaped, next up is eyebrow tint, manicure and toenail polish! I've never taken such good care of myself! Will all go out the window when lo arrives haha

Chip86 · 30/04/2014 18:52

PFJ its so good to hear from you, your first post made me cry, im glad your friends are taking you out that is lovely

well done moomin with the essay

dobe hope the pain gets better soon

MasterFlea · 30/04/2014 19:04

Thanks PFJ. Really lovely to hear from you.

ThePFJ · 30/04/2014 19:29

You are all fab Wink

ThePFJ · 30/04/2014 19:33

Chip - I'll be on one of them one day.... or I will personal go kick the gods arses... or something.... hmm... Grin But no luck yet... bit depressing tbh.. but everything happens for a reason.. even if you don't find out until later.... and I still have my one little man. So want to give him a sister or brother, but I have him. It makes it all better.

Always look on the bright side of life.... 'whistles' Smile

loopylou52 · 30/04/2014 19:37

Lovely to hear from you ThePFJ! Thanks

MrsFoo - sorry you've had to go on insulin but glad you're feeling ok with it. Well done for being so brave!

I'm impressed moobaloo! I couldn't do cleaning for hours at this stage! You're definitely not unfit, I think it's just late pregnancy for you. I sometimes forget I have different limits now and it can be so frustrating!

Having another evening of random aches and pains which I'm pretty sure are meaningless. Off for a bath to help ease them.

MoominAndMiniMoom · 30/04/2014 20:00

ThePFJ you are amazing Thanks

ThePFJ · 30/04/2014 20:11

I was scrubbing the floors at 2 days overdue... apparently it's nesting... and apparently scrubbing floors or riding a donkey (true) can help bring on labor. But I think it was mostly nesting. I went cleaning mad in late pregnancy. My hubby was ... bemused.

And remember: contractionmaster.com/ it has a simple start and stop button. You click start when your contraction happens.. then stop... and then start on the next one.. and a table forms showing the time between each one as you do it. Great gadget if your MW has told you how many minutes apart you need to be before you come in.

My old antenatal group posted their timer results and we would help each other decide if it was just brackston hicks or real labor and literally go round in circles until someone would say 'Thats it we are on our way in!' and a few days later - facebook and fancy mobiles weren't as big then...- we would get a great birth story... and waiting those few days - or one day if mum to be forced hubbie to post for her during labor on his laptop etc... we would be so excited and worried.. hitting refresh every hour to check for news! It was crazy...... but fun. We were all exhausted and happy at the end of the month.

I'll check back on you lot one more time before I go to bed and then that's it. May is your month. It isn't mine.. I'll be happy and possibly drunk. Wink

PotatoPolly · 30/04/2014 20:18

Hello all!

Finally had chance to sit down and take a breather, so thought I'd fill you in on all the details!

Are you sitting comfortably?! Good, then I'll begin...

So, I'd been given the pessary, wasn't coping very well with the contractions and my waters went, with gusto!

I got hooked up to the ctg but they weren't happy that although his heart rate was good, the trace was a bit flat so they continued to monitor me for a few hours. Around 3am I was moved to the labour ward so that the induction drip could be started, I was put back on the ctg which was still a bit flat so the midwives decided to wait until the morning shift came on to start the drip.

To cut a long story short (I promise this is the abridged version!) it was recommended I have an epidural, so by this point (around 11am) I had 3 drips (saline and induction drug) plus epidural, plus BP cuff, plus catheter due to epidural, along with the ctg.

MW then tried a stretch and sweep and pulled my cervix forward herself, before putting the monitoring clip on the baby's head at the second attempt.

The trace continued to stay flat and I'd only reached 3cm dilated so the MW called the registrar and consultant for advice, who decided an EMCS was needed around 5.10pm. By 5.30pm I was in theatre, Ethan was born at 6.06pm weighing 5lb 11oz and around 8pm I was on the postnatal ward with my lovely squishy newborn!

We were discharged around noon yesterday, and the rest, as they say, is history!

I'll put a picture on fb, & I'll do my best to catch up with the rest of the thread :)

ThePFJ · 30/04/2014 20:27

And that is a beautiful birth story.... congrats to you!!!!!

rebeccax2 · 30/04/2014 21:07

Moan Moan Moan Moan.

That is all. :-)

Squiffie · 30/04/2014 21:16

Fantastic to hear from you PFJ, I've thought of you often. I admire your positivity throughout all this! Glad you've got lovely friends to take you on a drunken weekend, have fun!!

In other news, induction is booked for 21st May, 39 weeks. X
