Morning all, still nothing but twinges here so no real movement, and to rub salt in the wound an ex-colleague due 3 days before me has now had her little one! Anyway, telling myself at least twinges plus the show I had at the weekend mean my body is thinking about doing something.

Sorry to hear dobe and clearly are struggling, hope dobe improves with some rest - I always think those examination couches are rubbish for pg ladies, and I don't have spd or anything. clearly the midwife will be able to tell if there is swelling, the skin/tissue feels different, so says physio dh and last time I saw the mw she said I had some mild swelling under my bump which I didn't even know I had. Plus she can check out if there is any other cause for alarm anyway.

Fingers crossed for everyone symptom spotting. 38+6 here so am trying to remind myself that it could still be another couple of weeks even without needing an induction!

moobaloo · 30/04/2014 08:37

Wow impatiently! I think you're the first to reach your due date without having a baby! I don't remember anyone else? Your body will be fine and knows what it's doing! Hopefully it won't be too long now xxx

Massive sympathy to those of you with spd, pgp and swelling issues, and anyone in any discomfort at all! (All of us then lol)

Someone I know just had her baby, she was due in a couple of weeks. She's had a lovely girl who was just 5lb 15oz. Made me realise that my baby is already bigger than that! (If the growth scan is accurate ish) eek!

37+2 ate a pineapple and walked a lot but no signs yet!

ClearlyMoo · 30/04/2014 09:15

Phoned community midwife team:

MW: swelling in pregnancy is normal. Have you had raised BP recently?
Me: not last week, but was high when I went to hospital for baby monitoring
MW: oh that'll have been going into hospital, was it usual last week?
Me: yes though slightly raised for me
MW: when are you seeing MW?
Me: Tues
MW: that'll be fine then. Don't worry swelling is normal.

Ok. Trying to calm down a bit and accept I'll be Mrs Sausage fingers and toes until baby arrives.

For everyone who is not on Facebook thought I'd give you an update.

Olivia was born yesterday afternoon at 13.36 weighing in at 6lbs 2 and a half Smile. I had planned to cope with gas and air as long as I could but ended up with no pain relief until I was about 6cm and couldn't hack it any long so gladly took an epidural! Great inventions those things lol it let me have a wee kip as well. After about 45 mins of pushing, she wasn't going anywhere fast and was being a little madam so ended up having to use forceps which meant a nice cut was necessary and some stitches. But hey she was definitely worth it Smile

First night went great, I didn't sleep much at all but that had nothing to do with Olivia! She was brilliant and even had to be woken for feeds as she was out for the count. I just woke at every little noise she made. I'll need to get used to that!

Anyways, hope everyone is doing well and more babies will start arriving soon!!

Due May 2014 the Maybies are IN THE DROPZONE!!
dobedobedo · 30/04/2014 09:46

Clearly, do you sleep sitting up? That can make swelling even worse, or stop it going down over night anyway.

impatiently wow! I think you're the first to reach a due date without having a baby yet! Congratulations! You doing anything special to celebrate? Grin

ClearlyMoo · 30/04/2014 09:47

Ooooh congratulations MrsMummy! Well done!! Olivia is a lovely name! It's what my parents thought about calling me before the settled on my actual name!

Just such lovely squishy newborn news!

Sounds like you were a trooper too! Xxx

MrsMummy I congratulated on
FB, but congratulations again. Can't have too many congratulations for your squishy newborn.

I'm seeing my parents for lunch today and then friends for tea to celebrate DD, but still marvelling in the slightly uncomfortable cramps/BH. They are completely new to me, until today I'd only had painless BH where I only knew I was having them if I touched my bump. It's like my body realised it was DD today so thought it better start getting ready. Had the tiniest bit of blood in (TMI) my discharge earlier so thinking I might see my mucus plug (boak) in the next few days too. So all in all my DD has been pretty interesting for me so far, and it's only just after 10am.

wm3010 · 30/04/2014 10:37

Congrats mrsmummy, she is lovely!

MasterFlea · 30/04/2014 10:52

Congratulations Mummytobe. She is beautiful and love her name. Well done! Glad that you are both well after it all.

Clearly my fingers are like sausages too. It hurts when opening caps on bottles or if I clench a fist. I have to make sure I lie with my hands open and straight at night as any other way hurts to badly. Have you any other symptoms of PE to give you concern?

My body has gone very quiet today. No more painful BH or clear outs. I was convinced I would go into labour last night. No such luck.

DH is off work tomorrow for MayDay here. I'll be happy to rest up for the day.

ThePFJ · 30/04/2014 10:59

Hello girls!!

Before I say anything that baby a few messages above is sooo cute and I am very jealous. Envy Smile

I don't know if you remember me, hopefully a few of you do - I was on this thread until late last year. I just wanted to pop in one last time and tell you all I am thinking of you this upcoming month. My little pea was due on the 12th.

By the looks of this thread you are all being wonderful at supporting eachother. That is so brilliant and love to you all. When I had my little man who is now six we all stuck together until the very last bundle of joy dropped and we were all happy mummies. I even have 5 of them as facebook friends now - 6 years later.

So enjoy you last moments of having a bump. Hug your bumps for me.. and I know I was 1 week past my due date and pacing the floor begging for baby to JUST COME OUT ALREADY because being a planet with what seems enough gravity for things to actually leap off tables and orbit you is hard... and even though your back hurts and your feet are large and you want to see your baby so much.... I miss having a bump to be connected to. There are only a few times in your entire life you will have a beautiful bump. So hug bump and I will pray everything goes well for each every one of you yummy mummies.

Oh and if any friends or family offer you help in the next few months.. even annoying mothers in law etc. try to say YES. Let them help Smile You deserve it.

Now I am just rambling so - HAVE FUN IN THE DROPZONE and BE STRONG!!!

Love love love love love and hugs.... all the best THEPFJ xxxXxxx

ClearlyMoo · 30/04/2014 11:04

Awhhhh thanks for popping back PFJ, I don't think I joined thread til new year, so missed you, but thank you for still caring about "us" however hard it must be for you.

Dobe - I sleep lying on my side, mostly my left with pillow supporting bump.

No other signs of PE thankfully. So think it's just beached inflatable whale syndrome.

I'm sorry if I sound like a constant whinger. I'm not I promise. Oh but I am on here! Thanks for putting up with me!!

P.S. I found a great contraction timer on the internet last time... it saves the data so you can get a graph/table etc of the minutes apart etcetc. It helped me and hubby keep calm and it helped us decide when to go to the hospital. The one I used 6 years ago isn't there anymore but google just threw like a million results for online contraction timer at me... Hoping one of you you can find a good one, or has found a good one already to share.

Okay now I am shutting up.... unless anyone has any questions about anything. Grin

I'll keep this thread up until mid afternoon today and check again tonight .... xxxx

ThePFJ · 30/04/2014 11:12

because apparently the phrase 'I am shutting up now' has no meaning to my keyboard fingers.... Confused

hobbjobb · 30/04/2014 11:18

PFJ so nice to hear from you! Hope you are well xxx

MoominAndMiniMoom · 30/04/2014 11:45

PFJ it's so good to hear from you. There's been so many times over the last few months I've thought about you. I really hope you're well, your advice and support helped me get through those first months where everything was so new and scary. (I was under a different Moomin name at the time - think it was moominleigh94)

Ditsydebs · 30/04/2014 11:45

Just checking in to say hi and congratulations to all the new mummies!
38+5 today and baby is misbehaving for the second time so off for a scan in the morning as doctor things she might be breech:( not quite sure how she has room to keep turning but hoping she is head down and getting ready to make an appearance!
Like a few others swelling over the last few days has increased dramatically and feet and hands hurt to move. BP is fine so think it's just fluid and the joys of pregnancy! Lots of symptom spotting more and more tightenings, low pelvis pain and pinky discharge but can't get excited about anything until I know head is down.
Wishing everyone luck and can't actually believe we are all due in the next few weeks!

dobedobedo · 30/04/2014 11:46

Aww thanks for popping in thepfj! What a lovely message. I do often think of you and the other ladies on here who have left - wonder how you are! Thanks Brew

impatientlywaiting · 30/04/2014 11:48

Sooo lovely to hear from you PFJ. I was thinking of you just a few weeks ago. Hope you are doing well. Xx

bushprincess · 30/04/2014 11:56

Hi All! hope everyone managed to get some better sleep last night

impatiently HAPPY DUE DATE!!!! and sounds like things are moving - so maybe you'll get to meet your little one any day now - so exciting!!!

Hi PFJ so lovely of you to pop in and check on us!!!! Hope you're doing well, sending you some hugs from us and the big bumps!!

We had a 'wet run' of the birthing pool last night and I hung out in it for an hr or so listening to my hypnobirthing cd - I know it won't be quite so relaxing on the day but was blissful last night!!!

Massive congrats again mummytobe! hope the stiches aren't too bad. Enjoy your snuggles with gorgeous olivia!!

catch you all later!

ThePFJ · 30/04/2014 12:19

Thanks girls... it's nice to be here with you all today - especially as some of you still think of me... that makes me feel wonderful xxx

AppleCrumble1 · 30/04/2014 12:21

Ahh PFJ your lovely message made me feel all emotional (hormones). Big hugs to you & I shall check out the contractions tracker Smile

Spirael · 30/04/2014 12:46

Lovely of you to pop in, PFJ! :) Hope things are going well for you.

We have the birthing pool set up now too, bushprincess! Getting very exciting, I just need to keep my legs crossed for another eight days and then operation baby eviction can start. We've not managed a 'wet run' yet with the pool, but that's pencilled in for Thursday evening and probably a few more goes over the weekend. DD1 is beyond excited that there's an enormous bath in the kitchen. Grin

Had my whooping cough vaccination this morning and my left arm is now suitably achy. Hopefully it'll ease a bit throughout the day, or tonight is going to be even more uncomfortable than usual with a sore arm to go with my poor suffering hips!

Congratulations on the arrival of Olivia, mummytobe! Beautiful picture, what a lovely keepsake. :)

Is anyone else filling in a baby book for their LO(s)? I've been dutifully filling in a Humphrey's Corner book for DD1 since she was born, but it's nearly complete now that she's preparing to start school in September! I've gotten the latest version of the same book to do for DD2. I figure it'll be something to embarrass them with when they bring their first partner home. [mean Mummy]

ThePFJ · 30/04/2014 12:54

AppleCrumble - I love apple crumble... my mother made an excellent one of those. Good luck to you sweetheart ... good vibes coming your way xxx

wm3010 · 30/04/2014 13:16

Hi pfj, so lovely to hear from you! Thanks for the kind words, and the tips on timing contractions, I hadn't even thought about that. Take care x
