And same here with the sleep last night - went from 10pm to 2am, had a quick drink then back to sleep until 8am. Reckon I would have stayed asleep had the alarm not gone off. Best nights sleep I've had in ages.

Vikks · 14/05/2014 14:24

Just got back from seeing my consultant and they have decided to induce me on Saturday! I feel very emotional about as I really wanted to avoid an induction this time, still have a couple of days to kick off on my own Hmm . So I'll be 40+1 then, they said my BP was so up and down they weren't happy to wait any longer. Just come back to bed for a little cry.... I'm so scared it'll be like the last one. Sad

loopylou52 · 14/05/2014 14:48

Ah vikks I'm sorry to hear that. Hope you feel better after you've had a cry. I'm not sure what to advise as don't know what happened last time and haven't been through labour myself yet, but could you maybe have a look back at your birth preferences with induction in mind and think about specific things that you do/don't want this time which could make it more positive for you?

Glad to hear of some good nights of sleep for some of you last night. I hope it's catching!

MasterFlea · 14/05/2014 17:13

Congrats Dobe and Chip. Great to hear.

Mrs Foo, have you tried pushing the grapes back in? Bloody awful things. Lots of sympathy.

loopylou52 · 14/05/2014 17:24

Quick question for those who've had sweeps - how much pain/discomfort do you tend to be in afterwards? Got an extra mw appointment tomorrow morning and considering asking her to do one then, but I'm due to be going out for coffee later in the morning so just wondered if I'm likely to feel up to that or if I'll just want to take to my bed with a hot water bottle. I know it'll be different for everyone but would be good to hear your experiences.

MrsFooCough · 14/05/2014 18:08

loopy my first was quite uncomfy but no actual pain at the time, just like accidentally shoving a tampon a bit hard and too high up...afterwards it didn't take long for me to have irritating contractions, enough to know the wind out of my sails for sure but not too bad. This second sweep however the consultant lady was acting like she'd lost somethin up there. Still having the same soreness I had while she was up there, and contractions started in the car on the way home about 15mins after the sweep. So I should think take some paracetamol beforehand perhaps, or take some along with you to take just after the sweep so they'll kick in around the time you're meeting up for coffee?

hez ice sounds AMAZING but we don't have any...also I've been having clear outs so I doubt anyone would let me use the frozen peas ~BLEURGH face~

masterflea I tried with the first one when it was just a lone pile and was only a bit itchy, that popped straight back out the next wee I did. Kept popping it back in each wee trip, but once I woke and found the little one had FRIENDS and they all started hurting I decided pushing back in wasn't worth the pain Sad

loopylou52 · 14/05/2014 18:26

Thanks for that mrsfoo, that's really helpful. I reckon your family should allow the peas to be sacrificed for a good cause!

Bezzabelle · 14/05/2014 18:55

Hi all,
Congrats on more baby news, good luck to those who are being induced.
I've just found out I have group b strep- anyone else have experience of this??

ilovesprouts · 14/05/2014 19:31

hi all just letting you all know my grandson leo was born today at 14:12 8lb 12 oz so gawjuss I know have two grandsons born on the same date Grin

MrsFooCough · 14/05/2014 20:03

bezza no direct experience but did microbiology at Uni so could shed some light on it for you. IV antibiotics for you during labour as it's a nasty bug for a newborn to get hold of, and I'm pretty sure they'd want to observe the little one for a while once it's born.

There are a few ladies here with GBS so I'm sure someone with direct experience will come along soon my sweet xxxx

MrsFooCough · 14/05/2014 20:03

Congrats sprouts Flowers makes remembering birthdays a lot easier innit!

SunnyInterval · 14/05/2014 20:44

Hi girls just trying to catch up ! Wow babies babies everywhere . Congrats to all and I love hearing all the birth stories
dobe I had the exact same thing happen to me the last time , they told me I was 5cm but dd2 was born 10 mins later after my body took over and I had the most primal urge to push . I was fascinated by it afterwards and read that it's called fetal ejection reflex . I had an epidural for dd1 so didn't experience anything like that .

mrs foo I feel your pain , I had horrendous piles last time after the birth and I found the advice to push them back in pointless but generous amounts of cream applied after every toilet trip did wonders .

ditsy hope all is going ok for you

How do I get added to the fb group . I'd love to see all the delicious newborn pics !

vikks my due date buddy , I'm sending massive vibes your way that you never need that induction on Saturday ! Still plenty of time xx

Well what a day! Thinks happened pretty rapidly once pessary started working and from first contraction to birth was less than three hours! All very intense but Ella arrived safely at 1.26pm weighing 7ib10! Been told all along she would be pretty small around 6ib as my bump was tiny so when she was weighed in at 7ib10 we couldn't believe it!
She latched on straight away and fed for over an hour and has been perfect ever since sleeping and feeding.
Her two big sisters came up to meet her and daddy is so proud and over the moon!
Sat watching her sleep and tying to get my head round that she is here!

Good luck to everyone still pregnant and welcome to the world all new babies:)

I have no idea what BH feel like or contractions feel like.. I havent lost my plug.. or had discharge.. but I have these cramps.. they are so bad it goes into my legs! My belly hurts and feels like hard balls at times.. but im pretty sure its my little mans butt pushin out. I am the opposite of nesting! I am lazy and tired.. usually im a lot cleaner and active and i just dont want to do anything. I just started maternity leave sunday and im going crazy!! Anyone in my boat?
