Hey all

Sarah....hips causing me trouble in the night too...it's so painful isn't it?

Mummy...hope things kick off for you!

Mamapants...I used a TENS machine last time and have hired one again. I found it really useful both a pain relief and probably more as a distraction! I got to 7cm using it last time so I'm hoping that it proves effective this time too. Would recommend.

I'm off for a hair cut and colour...like that will help!!! I'm a waddling blimp..gah! Hope I can sit in the chair for that long...

Choppa · 29/04/2014 09:18

Before I go. On names. We are set on the name Max but are debating just Max or Maxwell. OH would like middle name Philip (his name ) but I feel like Max needs a 3 syllable middle name. What do you all think? Surname only has 1 syllable too.

SarahJinx · 29/04/2014 09:22

Had mine done yesterday Choppa worth it for fabbo hair but I suspect all that sitting is possibly why my hips were so bad in the night, I got stupid amounts of hair though and it takes ages.

Try to move around as much as poss...?

moobaloo · 29/04/2014 09:40

Mummy88 hope you're snuggling your newborn now!

I'm having a hair cut today too! Having it cut really short so it's low maintenance for the first few weeks of motherhood is the plan. Also getting eyebrows done so I can look in the mirror and not feel horrendous!

I have recently acquired a TENS machine. Not tried it out yet but they've been highly recommended to me. I'm looking forward to trying it out but dp won't let me try it on him [selfish git] lol

My midwife said if I think I am in labour now to just ring the MLU I'm booked to give birth in. They will be able to advise or transfer me if I need to talk to someone else.

Good luck everyone having babies right now!

kally195 · 29/04/2014 10:07

Morning all. Another broken night here. I dreamt I was choking, only to wake up and realise I actually was choking. Managed to stumble to the bathroom, where I promptly threw up horribly. Then freaked myself out that I had somehow hurt the baby. I found her bum up near my ribs and gave it a poke - she started dancing!

Feel very uncomfortable this morning. About to go get in the shower then crack on with my to do list. Finally got the hospital bag packed yesterday - DH has moved it and the car seat downstairs. Think he is getting nervous!

Lunch with the girls later. After last night's vomit theatrics, going to make sure I don't eat too much!

Walking is starting to hurt. I very quickly get massive pressure and tightening round the bottom of the bump. That and feeling liked I've been kicked between the legs!

ClearlyMoo · 29/04/2014 10:20

I've had stretch marks from about 20 weeks. They've been mainly ok. Partly due to losing 5 stone pre-conception so I already had some ones from being a fatty. Then over night. LITERALLY OVERNIGHT. Bang! Itch Confused itch Confuseditch and they are everywhere. I applied cream / oil you name it I did it! I am so unimpressed. Also because bump is itchy so is the rest of me it seems! Gah!

End of selfish rant!

Good luck mummy!

Blimey kally, the choking/vomming sounds nasty. Sorry to everyone who had a crap night. I had a better one than usual, and even dropped back off after dh went to work so now lazing in bed deciding what to do with my day. Got 38 week appointment later but with gp rather than mw - I want to know how engaged the head is but not sure gp will tell me that.

I've hired a tens to try. My mum had chronic back pain for a long time and it helped her so I figure it's worth a try!

ClearlyMoo · 29/04/2014 10:30

Resumes selfish tweet

My belly button is itchy too and it can't decide if it's an inny or an outy it looks SO weird!

End if selfishness.

Kally that sounds horrid! Hope you can enjoy your lunch xx

Just thought I'd drop in to let you know that Gabriel comes home next Tuesday Grin

randdom · 29/04/2014 10:41

Back from my midwife appointment. Measuring what I should be. All normal and baby is head down and 3/5ths palpable :)

SunnyInterval · 29/04/2014 10:50

Hope things are progressing nicely for you mummy

I think the excitement/nervousness levels now at the end are just like at the beginning , so much to look forward to :)

My little dd2 who is two was up in the night with a nasty barking cough. I'm thinking most likely croup , so baby can stay put until she is better ! Don't think I could deal with the stress of a sick infectious toddler and a precious newborn . She is lounging in a nice steamy bath now and is delighted with life , I'm exhausted !

Clearly the swimming sounds lovely . I'm always stuck in the 2ft deep kiddie pool when we go swimming , wish I had made some time to go by myself

MasterFlea · 29/04/2014 10:59

Good luck Mummy Sounds like you are very close.

Great news Alyss How are you both doing?

No more symptoms from here. I reckon the night of contractions was because I overdid it in town that day. Also got my my hair cut, really short. Who knows when I'll get back to get it done again.

My only niggling worry is the amount of discharge I am having. I am changing the pantyliner about 3 or 4 times a day. Is anyone else having lots of discharge?

DH is a nervous now too. He said he's been checking his phone constantly when in work. And I think he's nesting too! He started cleaning out the presses the other day.

mummytobe88 · 29/04/2014 11:42

Quick update, looks like I was in labour after all!! Took a trip along to the hospital at about 3 this morning and by half 4/5ish was already 4-5cm dilated without any pain relief.

I'm now in the labour suite hooked up with my epidural, 10cm now and will start pushing in an hours time. Can't quite believe it! Thought I had a good 2 weeks left but there we go.

mummytobe88 · 29/04/2014 11:56

masterflea sorry I also meant to say, that's how I started out this weekend! Had a ridiculous amount of clear watery discharge (tmi sorry!) which when I got checked out on Sunday for the midwife said wasn't anything. Turns out it might have been my waters leaking all weekend! I ended up having to wear maternity pads and changing them after about an hour to an hour and a half.

Not to scare you, just something to keep an eye on Smile

dobedobedo · 29/04/2014 12:04

had a crying fit yesterday because midwife told me when i go in to labour their will be a doctor there incase baby sholders get stuck, i feel like putting on so much waight (i have tried to be careful with what i eat but no one belives me) i have let her down they might dislocate her sholders to get her out i dont want them to hurt my baby i feel like i have failed her im ment to protect her

MasterFlea · 29/04/2014 13:45

Mummy you're my hero. 10cm, ready to push and still able to coherently tell us about it as well as answer my query.

Good luck!

Oh I do hope I go soon.

MasterFlea · 29/04/2014 13:49

Ah Chip, a big hug to you. You haven't failed her at all. Bodies are strange things.
And they might be all wrong about the weight and just covering their asses ahead of time. Your crying jag is normal. I would have too on hearing that prognosis. But they are guessing as to the size of the baby and how you'll stretch.

bushprincess · 29/04/2014 13:49

Don't beat yourself up chip, I'm sure there is nothing you could have done to change things - they will get baby out the best way they can and you're in the right hands

kally hope you're feeling better after last nights sickness

ohdearitshappeningtome · 29/04/2014 14:10

chip shoulder dystocia are rare there are many manoevers they do because they contemplate breaking her shoulder, it will be more traumatic to u than to her! Then they may not even need to do it at all! And it's down to the baby not you!

Try and relax xx

JuniorMint · 29/04/2014 14:12

Good luck mummy!

I had my growth scan yesterday. All fine, seems DD is currently around 6lbs 4oz (I'm 38+1) and apparently has lots of hair!!

MoominAndMiniMoom · 29/04/2014 14:23

Woo mummy hope you're having baby snuggles now!! And if not, PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSH!

Great news bush, you must be so excited to see him!

Chip, you haven't failed her at all! When they told me they were going to induce me I felt like I'd failed my baby because I'd been getting so stressed out over uni and moving house, and I felt like my blood pressure being high was all my fault and I was putting her at risk, but she was so strong when she was born, you'd never have believed she wasn't ready! No-one should make you feel bad, and if they are, after she's born you should put in a complaint. But first, focus on keeping calm, not getting angry or upset at yourself - easier said than done but it really really isn't your fault, and you've done nothing wrong! - and everything else will work itself out around you. They'll get baby out as safely as possible, that's the most important thing at the end of the day :)

Just given my little water baby a bath. She loves it! She's now fast asleep in her moses basket while me and OH work on our essays, they're both due in tomorrow Sad

I'm dreading my neurologist appointment in the middle of May. The headaches haven't improved at all - I've made all the lifestyle changes (not drinking tea, not drinking fizzy drinks, avoiding chocolate as much as possible, sleeping really well considering we have a newborn) and they're getting even worse. Looks like I'll need those brain scans after all Sad
