Welcome to mother hood Grin

ohdearitshappeningtome · 27/04/2014 21:03

Mini me hadn't has a poopyl day. Now he's exploded!! Just as my years were falling, feel like I've failed with the breast feeding, I can't grip him properly to position! So I express and I'm only getting 2oz each time I express!Hmm

Bezzabelle · 27/04/2014 21:24

Hi all, haven't posted for a while as hadn't got round to resetting password but have been reading regularly.

Congrats to everyone who has had their babies. Sorry can't name check everyone, sounds like everyone is doing well and really hope those who have had any problems/health issues are ok. Lots of symptom spotting too going on- very exciting to see who will be next!

I'm 35 +1 today and 3 weeks and 5 days away from elcs. Been busy nesting and also potty training ds which has been tiring- he gets weeing in potty but will hold poos until he gets a tummy ache!! Also will not yet use the toilet so have to cart potty round with us all the time! I went to buy a new changing bag this week and got the overnight bag size instead as my current change bag for ds bursts at the seams with spare clothes, snacks, drinks etc, would not have been able to fit in babies stuff too!

Has everyone totally decided on their names yet? Still not totally convinced and don't want to start another thread on baby names thread as found it a bit brutal last time!

MrsFooCough · 27/04/2014 22:09

Hey bezza snap on dates! I'm 35+1 today too Grin and I'm approx 3wks away from induction/ELCS (not decided by consultant yet) so we may be labour buddies too!

On names yup we're set, Leo John Arthur for a boy and Grace Caroline for a girl - what are your choices? I'm all about this naming shizz so hit me up for ideas or advice or just as a sounding board!

MoominAndMiniMoom · 27/04/2014 23:25

MrsFoo love your name choices!

PotatoPolly · 28/04/2014 01:10

Hello all! Thank you for your thoughts and good wishes Smile
the pessary went in around 1630 & have been contracting since, I've been brave with the internals (thank you all for helping me pluck up the courage!) & those have been quite sore as my cervix is posterior as I'm so early still.
had a hot bath and some paracetamol to try to ease the pain of the contractions but still was not coping well, so mw has just examined me and given me oramorph... currently feeling very mellowed out Grin literally just about to dose off and waters fully went so hooked up to ctg and dosing off between pressing my button. bit worried about the pain once oramorph wears off but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
dh being absolute star, I'm so grateful!
having trouble remembering who posted what today, sorry- labour (oramorph) has fried my brain! Such an amazing feeling knowing you're all behind me Thanks will update as I can x

Bezzabelle · 28/04/2014 03:06

Can't sleep tonight.... Potato- when in labour with ds, I always viewed internals as a way of them being able to tell me how I had progressed so for me, although not pleasant, they were helpful in that I could see I was getting somewhere. Also in terms of contractions, our Nct lady with ds told us to mentally view a filing cabinet and after each one, 'file' it away as one you don't have to ever do again and one closer to meeting your baby- this did help me!

Mrsfoo- that's the problem, we have very few names we agree on! I have a name I really love (Seth) but dh hates it so the only name we can agree on is Rafe Alexander. We will probably nn Raffy. I like this name at the moment but worry I may not in a few years time. Our ds's name was fairly rare when we decided on it nearly 3 years ago but last year made the top ten which I don't really worry about that much but still shows how things can change! Yay to being the same on dates, was feeling a bit behind!

Bezzabelle · 28/04/2014 03:10

P.s I also worry with this name about people pronouncing it correctly- as mean Rafe as in rhyming with waif but know Raffy would not fit in with this if that makes sense- does this matter?!

dobedobedo · 28/04/2014 06:45

potato good luck! You might even have your little baby by now! Grin Keep us in the loop

bezza Naming is hard. I think Seth is a lovely name, as is Rafe. When your baby is born, he'll become what you call him - funny how babies do that! Smile the name we picked for ds is a bit of a marmite name. Our mothers always ask us if we are still going to use it, every time we speak to them! Hmm lol.

This is a bit tmi, so apologies. But also funny. You know the way gaviscon makes you a bit windy? Blush Well sometimes I'll fart after drinking half a bottle of the stuff through the night, and it will take the baby by surprise and make him jump! Grin sorry baby!

dobedobedo · 28/04/2014 06:46

P.s. Still fucking pregnant.

Does anyone else wake up hoping to find themselves in a giant puddle of their waters? Or is that just me?

CbeebiesIsAboutToPop · 28/04/2014 07:06

Dobe, every. Single. Day!

SarahJinx · 28/04/2014 07:14

Siiiggghhhh, crap sleeps. Been lugging this bump about from side to side all fricking night, except for when have been weeing, or DS has been weeing.

Getting my roots done today, sitting still for hours on my numb arse, brilliant. Grumpy old cow I am today.

Hope you're doing ok Polly, well done with the internals, if you're even feeling a teeny bit better about them that's a great thing! Someone is getting a c sec today? Or induced? I can't check back on iPad and brain is sleep addled and effed.

Sorry x

impatientlywaiting · 28/04/2014 07:25

Bezza I love Rafe. I think we have decided on Sebastian, as it's a name both me and DH really like, but my all time favourite and front runner for most of this pregnancy was Rafferty, nickname Rafe or Raffy. I'm just not sure I'm brave enough as it is a bit more out there than Sebastian. Mmm writing this post has got me thinking though, might revisit Rafferty with DH.

So I'm 39+5 today. Think I'm a bit of an odd one out in not being in any rush to get this baby out. Feel quite scared about the idea of labour, and actually 100% in charge of a newborn, whilst not feeling too uncomfortable physically- so I'm happy for this baby to stay where he is for the next week. I don't want to be induced, so might start trying to push things along next week at some point, but I'm not giving any of the old wives takes/natural induction techniques a go anytime soon in case they work!

moobaloo · 28/04/2014 08:24

I'M IN THE DROPZONE! 37 weeks today!

Finally!

And to kick off my first week of maternity leave I have an antenatal class at 9am. Lie in?? Nope

Hope all is going well for you Potato - with any luck you are snuggling your baby right now!

Love all the names being mentioned on this thread!

Ahh impatiently, from your name I'd have thought you'd want baby out! I haven't got much of a clue how to look after a newborn, I know the theory but have never tried it all out! I'm trying not to think about it as I know I'll work it out when I need to! My motto wrt labour is, it'll happen, it'll hurt, it'll be over and I'll have a baby! (But I must finish cleaning this house first! )

I'm feeling very uncomfortable now though. Very hard sore bump yesterday for a lot of the day. Heartburn still keen. Good movements including thumping the side of my pelvis somehow and pushing out at my skin (that's not how you get out baby!) but I don't think he's dropped yet so could be weeks of this Sad I bought a pineapple though!

Good luck to the ELCS for today, I've forgotten who it is!! Sorry. And to anyone else who's having their babies. Xxx

impatientlywaiting · 28/04/2014 08:43

Moob, my username was chosen when I was waiting for a BFP, which I was incredibly inpatient for, whereas now I seem to have had a personality transplant and have suddenly found a whole load of patience (fear) from somewhere. Hopefully I'll be fine when it all kicks off, I'm just not wishing that moment on just yet!

Congrats to all reaching the DROP ZONE this week.

Choppa · 28/04/2014 09:18

Hey all

Made it through a weekend in Cardiff with the out laws without going into labour! Glad to be home though and finally have a bit of peace and quiet given that DS is back at school today.

Congrats to Minions!

samba I am due the day after you I think and also have the 15th in my mind as 'the day' ...no idea why I just have. Feeling I'm going to go to 40 weeks and maybe a bit beyond. I would like this week to sort myself out as haven't really stopped since finishing work last week.

Thinking of those in hospital potato polly and I think we have another CS today but can't remember who...preggo brain!

No symptoms here really other than general discomfort and a few BH now and again. Just by way of some comfort for the 1st timers...with DS I had NO SYMPTOMS whatsoever when I went into labour. No show, no waters going, very few BH and baby wasn't at all engaged at my previous MW appt (2days earlier).

I'm going to settle down to an episode of OBEM..if those butters can do it, so can I!!

38 weeks today !

Choppa · 28/04/2014 09:20

Doh...those nutters I meant!

moas · 28/04/2014 10:40

samba and choppa I also have my mind set on the 15th as that is the day I will have ELCS if nothing happens before then! 8th would be fantastic though... my gran's birthday.

Hope things are progressing for potato and anyone else in labour!

bezza I love Seth, too bad your DH doesn't agree... I've been trying to persuade my DH to go for a few names that he as downright refused. We have settled on Gil if it is a boy.
And happy to hear someone else is doing some last minute potty training!! We've been doing it over the Easter Holidays with DS. He's doing really well but we still use nappies when we leave the house... I'm so proud of him. He's becoming a big boy now! Big brother, potty, started visiting the big kids room at nursery, and his speaking is coming on in leaps and bounds recently (he's a bit late). So much love for him right now, trying to spend as much time as possible...

Right, off to hospital for a sweep! (39 weeks)

Spirael · 28/04/2014 10:46

Hope all is going well, PotatoPolly! You'll have your lovely NB soon, hopefully. :)

I'm currently keeping my legs crossed here, but I'm only 35+3 at the moment. Baby is not allowed to make an appearance until after the 8th May, otherwise I won't be allowed my home birth and will have to report to the hospital!

Picking up the birthing pool later. Really looking forward to getting it set up and just being able to wallow about in it over the coming weeks. Grin Though I expect I will be joined by DD1 most of the time, so it may not be entirely relaxing!

Feeling very pregnant here at the moment. DD2 seems to have had some kind of growth spurt over the last few days as everyone has noticed that the bump seems to have suddenly got a lot bigger. I certainly feel it! I really hope DD2 is early (but not too early!) as the idea I might have over a month left to go is mildly terrifying. Confused

samba and choppa, I have 18th May as my personal prediction here. Based on the timing of DD1's arrival and the fact that it's the local carnival the day before, so I'll inevitably be forced to do a ton of walking - which will hopefully start things off! More likely is that I'll still be pregnant in June and then have to deliver a 15lb baby.

Really not looking forward to my whooping cough jab on Wednesday. The injection itself doesn't bother me, but I can barely get comfortable at night to sleep as it is, so it'll be a nightmare if my arm aches and/or I get cold symptoms!

bushprincess · 28/04/2014 11:58

Hope all is well polly and blanket today - hope you're already enjoying newborn snuggles!!!

MrsFooCough · 28/04/2014 12:21

polly and blanket - so jealous and thinking of you!

bezz I think Seth and Rafe are LOVELY - luckily I've not had any difficulty with DH's attitude to my suggested names, I only had a few demands: Grace in the mix for a girl, John in the mix for a boy (John was my grandpa's name - the one who passed away in December if you were around then, Grace was his mum's name and it meant a lot to him that I'd always loved it as a name). So DH was fine with Grace, loved John, and we agreed on Arthur in the mix because it's:
a) my dad's middle name
b) my dad's dad's middle name
c) DH's middle name
d) DH's (late) dad's name
e) my grandma's dad's name
So it kind of HAD to be in there haha!
And Leo was all DH's idea, we've been lucky to see eye-to-eye although I did think he was joking at first...maybe your DH might come round to Seth when he sees the baby? Some babies just trigger an instinctive "he/she doesn't look like a(n) [insert name]" response

Chip86 · 28/04/2014 12:24

Hope all thouse having babies today are ok
hope everyone got some sleep (i no longer know what sleep is)
I love the name chat i love names we had ours picked out as soon as we new everyone now knowes her by this name so dont know what we will do if she does not look like the name we have picked

had sweep today they could not do anything as cervics is still facing my back and i will now have a doctor at birth because im so fat and holding so much water, they are worried about baby and her sholders, i just want to cry, i have a feeling im going to go over due and she is going to be massive and i will never be able to sit down again Sad

rebeccax2 · 28/04/2014 13:15

Hi All. Sorry too baby brained to answer to people directly but exciting news on the symptom spotting and sorry to everyone having a hard time.

I am still so up and down. Really good days followed by absolutely awful days... very hard to predict and I cannot WAIT to finish work now. (Final week this week).

Oh, I'm also in the Drop Zone as of tomorrow. 37 weeks and she better not be LATE!

MoominAndMiniMoom · 28/04/2014 13:55

Hope it's all going well for Blanket and Polly and you're enjoying plenty of newborn snuggles, they're the best Grin

Sorry to hear things are up and down rebecca

Argh the GP surgery are taking their time with my registration, and I really need to see a doctor. Pains are getting worse and I think I may have done something to my stitches last night but it's not bad enough to need OOH/hospital if you see what I mean?

sambababy · 28/04/2014 14:31

Morning everyone! (afternoon for you)

I hope we will hear from blanket & polly really soon.

moomin sorry you're still not feeling right. Definitely get yourself checked out.

I love the name talk! So many lovely names. First-name wise I think we're sorted for boy or girl, but we're stuck on middle names. It works differently over here and people are likely to call them by both names, as if they were hyphenated, until we can educate them otherwise. Plus they think I'm so strange for having dumped my own surname and only having DH's. Most people have at least 2 or 3 surnames, some have 4 or 5. Imagine giving your child only 1 surname! Shock
