kally195 · 27/04/2014 10:57

Huge, huge congrats minions xx

polly thinking of you - let us all know how you get on! You've made me think I need to get my backside into gear and sort my hospital bag out - you're due the day after me!

moomin good luck with the essay. I am in awe if you - I had to defer this year's study, else right now I'd be writing a 3000 word essay and prepping for a 3 hour exam. Can't even imagine how hard it would be....

Asante sana bush - hakuna kazi feels very odd this morning!

Sarah Thank you! I got a round of applause from my team when we got back this morning. I have to admit that it is nice to think I won't be in on the nightshift tonight.

clearly good luck with operation evac!

Not sure if it is relief at finishing, but I slept from 2am till 6am then again from 6am till 10am. Such a relief after two weeks of coughing all night! I've just had a lovely chat with my parents, and now I am going to get up and write a plan of action for this next week, with all the jobs we have to do and all the things we have to buy!

Happy Sunday maybie ladies!

Congratulations minions on you baby girl and what a lovely name xxx

JuniorMint · 27/04/2014 14:54

Congratulations Minion!

I'm going in for a non-urgent growth scan on Monday, will be exactly 38 weeks. It was booked on Weds last week when I went into maternity assessment unit for blood pressure check after it was high at my community midwife appointment plus a trace of protein in my urine. Blood pressure was normal at assessment and baby's heart beat and movement all good, but midwife there on,u measured me at 35cm whereas my community midwife had measured me 37cm (I was 37+2 on the day), so got booked in for the scan to check things over.

Does anyone know what any of the possible outcomes of this scan could be? I mean, I'm almost certain everything will be fine and normal and I'll just continue to wait for the onset of labour as normal! However, my mum is convinced they're going to say to me that I need to come back the next day to be induced or something (she's a bit drastic!). Any experiences or knowledge on possible outcomes?

Thanks!

sambababy · 27/04/2014 15:24

Congrats minions looking forward to hearing about the labour and your little girl.

polly got my fx for you today.

juniormint unless they find an issue with your placenta or fluid levels, they probably just want to measure the baby and if anything comes up small will monitor further. I was told there would be a discussion about induction at 39wks before my LO had a growth spurt.

I had the worst night ever last night and I think it was my fault. I went swimming on Friday, having not been for 6wks+. I thought I took it really slow but I reckon all the relaxin wreaked havoc and last night I had pains all over my neck, shoulders, top of my back and top of my belly. My lungs felt like they were being crushed. DH got me to take some paracetamol and massaged me and I finally got some sleep. Really disappointed though as I wanted to keep swimming as something to do on my maternity leave Sad

I'm also jealous of all the symptoms. My bump hasn't dropped, I've not noticed a mucous plug, no clearing out...I think my personal prediction of May 15th might be nearer the mark.

38wks today!

hobbjobb · 27/04/2014 15:37

I'd say prepare for anything. juniormint just in case they do decide to get you going.
One of my NCT ladies went in at 37 weeks and they just kept her in and induced the next morning, I think with suspected pre eclampsia. Not to scare you but get yourself prepared just in case.

To be honest if it's non urgent I'm sure you'll be home before you know it though.

I went in for monitoring with reduced movements the other day and had my hospital bag all packed and in the car boot just on case, though I'm only 36 weeks. I had visions of them rushing me for an EMCS or something but it was all fine and we were home in 3 hours

BlanketSky · 27/04/2014 16:24

congratulations Minions, also love Hannah. Hope you're managing to get some rest and hope you heal well (3rd degree tear veteran)

C sec for me tomorrow morning, think I'm in early labour anyway as had some proper contractions last night (couldn't talk through them) and lots of tightenings anyway. Aaagggh! Feeling pretty nervous and a bit excited now (FINALLY)

MoominAndMiniMoom · 27/04/2014 16:36

Congratulations Minions, hope Polly is ok, good luck tomorrow Blanket!

Junior be prepared for anything - I was induced at 37w for high BP.

My due date is tomorrow... and Callie is nearly 3 weeks old Shock I definitely didn't expect that four weeks ago!! Grin

ohdearitshappeningtome · 27/04/2014 17:12

Blanket if your in labour will they still sectionyou?

BlanketSky · 27/04/2014 17:17

yes unless it's very very quick- will be classed as an emergency though obv not really. The section is because of scar tissue and pelvic floor issues from DS' birth- pushing is not really an option!

CurlsLDN · 27/04/2014 17:17

Congratulations minion

Minty I have midwife and bp check tomorrow, and I'm on the borderline for pre-eclampsia treatment. Is it bad that I kinda hope my bp has gone up one point so that they induce me? 38+5 and feel ready to burst!

I'm v jealous of you all getting sweeps, according to my notes my hospital don't do it until the 40 week appt, and then induce at 40+10. Do you think they'll do it tomorrow if I ask? Does it hurt?

CurlsLDN · 27/04/2014 17:18

Oops I meant juniormint (over chummy)

loopylou52 · 27/04/2014 17:25

Good luck blanket!

junior - I had growth scans at 34 and 36 weeks due to measuring small. As samba said, they check placental functioning in addition to baby's size. I imagine if baby is small they may want you back for a repeat scan to check growth, like they did for me. I think early induction is a possibility if there are any concerns (but this is unlikely so don't panic) but not sure it would be urgent enough to do it there and then, iyswim. Hope that helps.

samba, sorry to hear you're so sore after swimming. Take it easy. I found last time I went I felt fantastic while in the water but had to force myself to stop so as not to push it, and I did feel it when I got out (though nothing like what you've had). My pelvis has definitely got worse again the last few days so I've wondered if this is baby engaging, but like you say it could be due to surges of relaxin. I'm hoping to go swimming this week before my gym membership runs out at the end of the month - was hoping it might help me feel better but maybe not!

bushprincess · 27/04/2014 17:31

Good luck blanket if you're Ian labour will they just let you get on with things? Can't remember if the elcs was for timing getting baby out or other issues?

Any news Polly?

Also thinking of nannyplum as havent heard anything since little one went to nicu (unless I've missed something) hope all is ok.

My parents cockeral just attacked my legs when i went to collect the eggs...bastard !!

bushprincess · 27/04/2014 17:33

Stupid, i should remember to refresh page before posting!

Hope all goes well blanket!

ClearlyMoo · 27/04/2014 17:41

I'm eating the Easter egg I bought for DH! He is with me and eating it too and said I could share it, still makes me feel guilty!

Hope the scan goes ok JM, 2cm doesn't seem that far out. I've been 2-3cm over (admittedly over) for weeks and no one had even commented! SIL was same with our 10lb nephew and she had a growth scan. I'd like baby to come soon so it can't be 10lb if it isn't already!

Samba sorry to hear swimming was not a success. When I started after a long break I did 6 lengths the first time and just enjoyed floating round. I've been up to 36 but now I think 16-24 is my range. Perhaps do go again but take it super gentle. It is hard to pace self when water takes baby weight and you feel "normal"!

I'm still delighted for Minions and loving Hannah as a name, and worrying about Polly and Nanny!

Thank you for the help and advice everyone! I'll take my bags in the boot of the car and just be prepared for any outcome. Will update if anything interesting!

Good luck, blanket!
