ikwym about motherinferior whiffy - and she sounds gorgeous as well. I definitely don't need gorgeous at the moment. As far as possible, I'm surrounding myself with people as large as cows.

The meeting place sounds fab. Do they do food? Sofas might be good in the absence of a good cafe with birth balls for seating.

saka · 12/09/2006 13:22

I just saw the doctor about the blood leaking from my breast. I have to go today to see a breast specialist as an emergency, it cant wait.

Im totally freaked out. i thought it was nothing and then I get a 'see a consultant today, go home and wait for a call' reaction.

I guess I get on with it...its probably nothing nasty.

Swizzler · 12/09/2006 13:29

LARGE sofas even better. And DH burst my birth ball yesterday - have sent him to look for a puncture kit. Or a new ball.

You can't be as large as me Dogmum - was walking along the street at the weekend and someone flattened themselves against the wall as I passed by. I've also noticed that people have stopped asking me when I'm due and started asking how long I have to go...

Haven't written birth plan yet, but there's a template in my notes. I'll be going for the vitamin K injection. I'm also happy for students to be present, as long as they don't bother me too much!

Clon and wuzzle: hope the home improvements speed up and are finished in time.

Saka:good news about the solicitor. Sounds like you have some good friends as well - love the idea of cleaning vouchers.

Re housework, just had a look at the Flylady thread, which scared the bejazus out of me. Are there people who clean their bathrooms and dust every day? Is this waiting for me as soon as I start maternity leave?

Swizzler · 12/09/2006 13:31

Saka: just read your latest. Sounds very scary, but at least you'll get to see someone asap. Keep us posted, and I hope it's nothing serious

saka · 12/09/2006 13:41

Im just waiting for the phone call to tell me which hospital to go to. Im trying not to panic, but am a bit upset. Ive had so many bad things happen this cannot be anything major, surely...

Ill have the tests later this afternoon and try not to panic.

Dd is tired and gone for a nap. Im dreading having to take her on trains to goodness knows which hospital!

Hello all

I have to laugh about the dungarees, I'm with you DogMum, shoot me first!! Would any of us go near a pair if we weren't pregnant? What do these places who sell them think about pg women, do they think all our taste goes completely out the window?

I'm leaving all the cleaning/bag packing etc until my mat leave, might take my mind off the lack of building progress, thanks for the sympathy Swizzler!

Only 4 working days left or should I say 3 and a half YAY!!

About the 3rd meet up, if we go for big sofas shall we do side bets about how long it takes us to get off them?!!

whiffy · 12/09/2006 13:54

Saka - don't panic. I just did a quick search on mumsnet and found this thread comment....

"just wondered if anyone else had had this. In my first pregnancy at around 4-5 months I was leaking blood instead of colostrum. When baby was born I had to spend 10 days or so pumping out the breast before blood was replaced by milk. I assume it was some kind of weakness in some of the blood vessels in the breast and it was followed almost immediately by 3 bouts of mastitis followed by a breast abscess. Still managed to keep breast feeding though so wasn't too bad. Anyway, am now pregnant with no.2 and am wondering whether I will get the same thing again.

Just interested in hearing anyone else's experience if they have had this. Doctors hadn't heard of this but b/f councellor in the hospital when ds was born said I was the 9th case she had seen that year so presumably it is not that uncommon? " you can find thread by searching under breast leaking blood (but not many posts on the thread)

So looks like one of those things that happens....

Good luck

DashingRedhead · 12/09/2006 14:24

Saka - good luck and remember it's probably one of those things that COULD be serious but usually isn't. They probably have to check it out quickly, but fingers crossed it might just need a mild dose of antibiotics or something.

catgirl · 12/09/2006 14:24

Saka - hope all goes ok, good advice from Whiffy as usual.

Whiffy - will get dh (who is working from home) to check home email later today.

Know the starbucks you mean - we could have a competition about getting off the sofas!

Re birth plan, last time did give vit K injection - can't remember why but we would have read everything. Can't even remember what vit K is for now! Re placenta - had a 'natural' delivery, rather than jab - very good midwife asked if I minded as student with her hadn't seen a natural delivery before! no problem at all, didn?t' really notice as I was too busy gazing at my ds! My 34 week appt is 21 Sept, so I plan to swipe my birth plan from last time, from the old file! I seem to remember saying 'don't mind re placenta'.

Re packing, one thing that was useful last time were energy sweets (dextrasol or similar) and energy drinks (the still ones, not fizzy), a very good sugar boost - I know I had a sweet or two, don't think I had an energy drink until afterwards. Also had a bottle of water with Rescue Remedy in it for DH - no idea whether it worked, but he was fab and didn't panic!

Slings: we had a baby bjion last time (need to rescue from the loft), and found it great - a friend with a bad back loved her wilkinet.

Not being productive at work (again), but have ordered some stuff from Lakeland that is absolutely necessary in my life at the moment (nesting, moi?!) and been trying to sort out HR re mat pay and suspending pension stuff.... aghhh, as if I don't have enough to do sustaining life! Trivia really. MUST DO SOME WORK.

Popsi · 12/09/2006 14:30

Hello everyone - is it too late for me to join in? I'm expecting my second baby on 31st October-it's a boy. 3 more weeks left at work and am counting down the days - I can hardly get out of bed in the morning or think straight anymore. Am living on Gaviscon but apart from that things are OK!

emzickle · 12/09/2006 14:59

my mummy just bought me one of these - bless her

what do you think, any good?

emzickle · 12/09/2006 15:00

oooh hello Popsi welcome

catgirl · 12/09/2006 15:00

popsi - welcome and snap! My 2nd due 31 Oct and have three weeks left in work! Don't know whether a boy or girl though - my son wants a girl - but last week he wanted twins!

I was in bed, asleep by 9:15 last night and felt much better this morning.

How old is your child/where are you having this next one?

welcome welcome we are a friendly lot!

catgirl · 12/09/2006 15:02

sling looks fab! lucky you!

Popsi · 12/09/2006 15:08

Daughter is 2 - was 2 in July and having this one in Princess Royal hospital, Farnborough (same as daughter). She would rather have a kitten than a baby though - isn't too impressed by having a baby brother.
I was in bed by 9.30 last night - doesn't seem to make much difference though!

Popsi · 12/09/2006 15:13

emzickle - sling looks great

Popsi · 12/09/2006 15:17

Have just bought double pram and new car seat-after swearing I wouldn't spend loads again on baby stuff! I lent all my tiny baby clothes and baby bouncing chair, sling etc to my sister-in-law for her first but she was pregnant again at a similar time to me and had a very early miscarriage - she was v upset and I can't bring myself to ask her for our baby stuff back.

BENDYB · 12/09/2006 15:24

welcome popsi, i'm due on 30th oct! havin a boy aswell!
Saka- good luck today, i'm sure every1 thinkin of u. hopefully its nothin serious.

majormoo · 12/09/2006 15:57

saka I hope it all goes ok. It is good that you are getting checked out. Hopefully it is just one of those things. Try not to panic (I know-easier said than done.)

BendyB-I had a lovely baby shower last time-lots of food, wine for everyone but me and loads of presents!

Emzickle the sling looks great. We had a baby bjorn last time, but can't find it. Think we have leant it to someone but cannot remember who. DH used it a lot-I wasn't that keen , so wanted to get a different one anyway. I did go into a shop and ask about them, and the woman in there said to wait until after the baby is born to decide which to get.

Have started packing my hospital bag and it is also ridiculously huge. Last time, as I was induced and everything happened so fast, poor DH was running after the trolley I was on as they tried to rush us to the labour ward, with bags and bags of stuff dragging behind him. So had planned to take less stuff this time but it isn't really working!

Have a good time at your Liverpool street meet up. I always get nostalgic for my drunken younger days when I pass through there, as used to work in that area.

Is anyone going to be using arnica? I have heard it is good for bruising (and, boy, I had some BEAUTIFUL bruises last time) so was thinking of getting some, but not sure where to get it and not sure when you are supposed to use it?

welcome all the new people. Would be good if you added yourselves to our list, so we compare due dates/sex etc:

welcome to the thread popsi

saka - does the bleeding give you any discomfort? i hope that your ok x

clon - you have my full sympathy...what have you got left re decorating and when has it got to be done by? i discovered today that my kitchen will not be finished untill 4th ocober at the earliest!! so i have another 4 weeks ish of disorder and decorating infront of me. its getting waaaay to close to due date for my comfort lol

nicand2 · 12/09/2006 16:49

Bendyb- at my baby shower we played 'whose baby' everyone bought a baby photo with them and we had to guess who was who. My friend also arranged a quiz with a baby theme and also a 'guess the weight and birth date' of the baby (prize awarded at a later date) All quite sedate but I was 8 months pregnant. To be honest it took most of the evening to open all the presents as eveyone had to oohhh and ahhh over them.

clon · 12/09/2006 17:00

Hi Wuzzle
Long story!
We decided to move our bathroom upstairs and demolish existing kitchen and bathroom into a bigger kitchen, we have a Victorian Terrace so not the hardest job in the world or so I thought. My dh is good at DIY but hates it, he is in the building trade so doesn't like coming home to do it too and don't blame him so we hired professionals who started at the beginning of July, they have been dreadful, doing things wrong not turning up. We decided to get someone else in for kitchen work but about 3 builders never showed and eventually we got someone but he can't start for another 4 weeks, I'm due in 5!!!! We have everything delivered already which is in the spare/baby room so can't do anything in that room to prepare (that only needs a paint job really).
After my complete hormonal break down this weekend dh has rolled up his sleeves and is trying to get as much of the prep work done in the kitchen so our new builder just fits the cupboards and new boiler.
It's all way too close for comfort for me too! I'm sure I'll laugh about it one day!

Gingeme · 12/09/2006 17:54

Good evening ladies. Think I missed the meet up bit When and where is it taking place?
Welcome Popsi Im also due on 31st October and its also a boy (our 4th).As my gp said today atleast we wont have to pay for any of the weddings!
Saka hows things with your leakage? Hope all is ok.
I bought a dungaree maternity dress from ebay and its lovely soft denim. Not too frumpy. I remember when normal dungarees were in in the 80's and wouldnt wear them for the fact they made me look pregnant even when I wasnt!
Ive got a wilkinet from last ds and I love it. So comfy. Got it all out and ready.
Who is motherinferior?

Rumpel · 12/09/2006 18:17

Hi everyone - I am due 6th October, however am huge and very low so hopefully will go sooner!
My first - don't know what we are expecting but secretly think baby is a girl. Keep trying to imagine what he/she will look like - apparently baby has very long limbs!! We are both tall so I may give birth to a toddler! Just hope I am stretchy. I have been trying to do perinneal massage but it's very difficult to get down there not to mention uncomfortable.
I threw my DH into the spare room as soon as I fell pg as I am perpetually roasting. I've been sleeping in the nuddy with just a sheet since March.
About the Arnica thing. I keep Arnica 30c in the house in case of emergencies as it is great for shock, trauma, accidents. I broke my ribs a few years ago and took it straight away. I also had a missed mc last year and ended up in hospital overnight after being induced to deliver - I took it then as well. When I was 14 wks with this pg someone ran into my car and wrote it off so I took it then as well as I was in shock and had whiplash. It's great. Arnica cream is good too for slight brusing (magic cream for LO). I bought a Helios homeopathic kit off of ebay (amongst many other things) to use in labour. The remedies are 200c which is strong. It has remedies for slow contractions, fear, exhaustion, retained placenta, lack of oxygen, fast labour and all sorts of other things including lactating problems, mastitis etc. Highly recommended. I went through the book and wrote out ones useful in labour for my DH to refer to, as I am presuming that I will be in no fit state to decide which ones to take at the time and the MW's aren't allowed to give them to you.

Someone mentioned to me that your feet can get really cold in labour so I've packed 4 pairs of socks - just in case! a wee bottle of mouthwash too and some lipsalve. Read somewhere to make sandwiches and freeze them, then when it all kicks off your DH will have something to nibble on when they defrost. We are allowed to east/drink in my hospital - providing you are in the MW led unit.

DashingRedhead · 12/09/2006 18:18

And what is it that's my fault?!
