Hi everyone,

A new thread for us chatty bunch due in November. Could someone repost the stats? I'm on my phone so can't do it. Thank you!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm having problems with this sleeping on your left thing. I find it really uncomfortable and it can't be good for my SPD. I'm most comfortable on my back with a pillow under my knees but that's the worst position apparently. I remember last time at the end having to sleep sitting up - that was horrendous! I may have to invent some sort of flotation tank where you're held up by your head but can sleep in non wrinkling water you can wee in!!! Grin

alita7 · 13/04/2014 21:20

Yay posy :)

Yep greenstone I'm getting little twinges too predominantly on the left side where ninja is.

alita7 · 13/04/2014 21:21

random you need an amniotic sack!

januaryJump · 13/04/2014 21:25

Greenstone I've been all sorts of stretchy. Feeling like I'm 20wks when I'm only 8wks Confused

Had my booking in today, the usual, took all my bloods and they're on top of all of my referrals which is good. I'm very happy at this hospital, I had my first there and it was brilliant. There is a hospital closer to me, that also had a good reputation, but I want the comfort of knowing what to expect and how they do things! Found out the MW who delivered DS still works in the birthing centre too so DH is hoping she'll be on duty when I go into labour (!) as she was awesome. But the other MWs I saw there were really good so I'm sure we'll be fine with any of them.

MW said that 2nd labours are typically quicker with shorter pushing stages. I know this is may just be a typical, and not 100% guaranteed, as I have friends whose 2nd or 3rd labours were much harder, but hoping that this one is true for us. First labour was fine, actually, but no need to drag it out Grin Especially the pushing stage, amazingly that wasn't the hard part I was quite high on G&A at the time though but it took 2 hours and I was so exhausted I could barely walk for 24 hours and probably still high from lots of G&A!.

12wk scan in 2wks, consultant appointment in 3wks - have to see obstetrician who will refer me to one consultant for a pre-existing condition and another for strong family history issue, but still classed as a low risk pregnancy. Just means I have to take extra tablets in pg, have extra check ups and blood tests, and most annoyingly I have to inject myself for 6wks postpartum (hmph). But it's all for a good reason Smile

RandomInternetStranger · 13/04/2014 21:33

Exactly alita! That would be amazing! OK so who here can invent it?? Grin

Giraffeski · 13/04/2014 22:20

TMI but has anyone else got piles already?

I am in agony, had one after DD2s birth from pushing I think, and it had gone away until now!

alita7 · 13/04/2014 22:23

I don't know random but I've heard that they're closer to inventing external wombs for babies, maybe they could make adult ones too :)

RandomInternetStranger · 13/04/2014 22:37

Giraffe I don't but it wouldn't surprise me. Even early on there's an increase in pressure all down there. I'm quite tender externally all over down there front and back, it is all quite uncomfortable and annoying! I think it's because my skin everywhere has changed and is more sensitive and reactive plus I'm sprouting way more hair everywhere and way faster than usual (though I am currently sitting here with yet another box of wax strips about to sort all of that out Hollywood stylee!! Had enough!!) and since ov the cm has been free flowing and not stopped! It's all just making everything more irritating and uncomfortable.

Let's hope so alita! Lol! Grin

Giraffeski · 13/04/2014 22:41

Yy to more hair- I seem to be sprouting pubes literally halfway down my thighs!

Annarose2014 · 13/04/2014 23:21

Giraffe nothing so far, but I suspect thats cos I have a very active job and walk miles a day. So thats helping things stay moving.

But am going to start on the nightly shot-glass-measure of prune juice, I think. Just to keep things easy down there.

I've never had them so can't give any advice I'm afraid!

alita7 · 13/04/2014 23:57

argh anyone else burping for England? I don't think I have burped this much in my whole life!
literally I have been burping since about 7pm a good 2 hours of that constant with DP burping me or rubbing my tummy to help it out. It's all trapped and does not want to be farted out. who ever said pregnancy was glamorous!

MrsWombat · 14/04/2014 06:50

Annarose, I was one of those annoying people who didn't show at 16 weeks first time around! In fact, I didn't tell the majority of my colleagues until my 20 week scan was over and done with. Only my line manager knew. The couple of people who worked day in day out in my office had guessed because my line manager kept stopping me climbing on the footstool and offering me decaff tea but the wider team didn't have a clue. I only started looking visibly pregnant once I was on maternity leave at 38 weeks. In fact DP and I had a massive row at London Bridge when I was 6 months, as he wanted me to run for a train, and couldn't understand why I refused. He had forgotten! The midwife (and consultant) said the reason for my small bump was because I am really tall and have a long back. There is lots of space within my abdomen for baby to hide so he didn't need to stick out. So maybe your colleague is the same build as me? If it's any consolation, I definitely have a small bump now, second time around, at 9 weeks. It will be interesting to see how big I get this time.

Had to wear a maternity top at the weekend. All my long normal t shirts were in the wash and I needed something that fitted properly as DS had a party to go to so lots of school mums there! I wore it with a chunky necklace (don't normally wear jewellery) to draw attention away from the bump. Hope it worked! Got lots of compliments. Blush My bump is definitely bigger than my G cup boobs.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

RandomInternetStranger · 14/04/2014 09:41

Mrs Wombat that's so funny because I'm 6' and was the complete opposite! With DD I popped at 11 weeks, I was slightly 'softer' before then but as a size 6 with dead flat rock hard abs I really didn't show as much as I expected to. At about 13 weeks I went to a fancy dress party wearing a tight outfit and people noticed then. By the end I was absolutely huge and people actually stopped me in the streets asking how many I was having! Grin I went from a 6 to an 18. Grin With this one I popped straight away and people were noticing at 8 weeks. By 6 weeks trousers were too tight and I was leaving the buttons undone etc. Now at 11+2 I have a very definite noticeable proper bump. I was an 8-10 before, still had my dead flat abs though and actually went out in hipsters & a crop top around ov and my friends were commenting on how flat my tummy was. Not any more! Grin Saw a friend the other day I'd not seen for a few weeks and she was gobsmacked that I was so big so early!

One thing that is really annoying me is a friend of mine is constantly trying to get me to smoke, constantly accusing me of smoking and asking if I have and constantly trying to get me to eat and drink unhealthily. Yes I know I usually smoke 40 a day, yes I usually live on kebabs and lager and coke, but I'm trying to cook a human here, I've had one drag on one cigarette since my bfp, I'm limiting myself to one coke per week and I've had one McDonald's since my bfp, as unbelievable as that may seem but she should be encouraging me, not constantly going on about it and acting like I'm lying and must have smoked etc. I gave her a lift the other day and she said I'd been smoking in the car as it smelt of smoke, no, I haven't, I've not smoked for 6 weeks!! It's really disheartening and annoying. Makes me think why bother if I'm going to get accused anyway I may as well smoke! I know she smoked the first 3 months she was pg and maybe part of it is to make herself feel better about that but what she does is her business and what I do is mine. I was going to say I don't judge her but given my reaction when I saw a heavily pg woman sitting on a door step to have a fag the other day that would be a lie, but I don't judge openly to her face! Grin

RandomInternetStranger · 14/04/2014 10:13

I just had a call from the Red Cross. They are coming over today to totally kit out my entire house with disability equipment! If this SPD gets as bad as last time I have about 5 weeks before I'm on crutches and seriously struggling and about 10 weeks before I'm in a chair on bed rest and totally immobile. They're bringing a commode for downstairs, a wheelchair I can move myself without needing to be pushed, a shower stool, a high perch stool, a toilet frame, a zimma frame and he said "a few other bits and bobs" - absolutely fantastic! They usually lend stuff for 3 months but he said 6 is fine. No fee either, they just ask for a donation if you can, I'll give them a few hundred at the end. Amazing people. If you get SPD and need help later think of them!

Giraffeski · 14/04/2014 10:37

Well I feel like shit today! Really really tired, I went to try and go to bed at 9.30 last night and the 15 month old woke up and started screaming blue murder, which isn't usual for her. So up for hours with her (I suspect molars) and hardly any sleep.
Started thinking about getting a new car too, I have a tiny Hyundai i10 which is too small for us with two children really, let alone a third! we have to take DPs car when going anywhere far, but I have been putting off getting a new one as I just hate buying second hand cars. I've had this one from new and it's about five years old, and it's such a lovely drive, but really need something bigger.
I like the look of the Volvo XC90 but I think will end up with something a bit cheaper Hmm

alita7 · 14/04/2014 11:46

oh poor you giraffe! I hope you manage a nap later!

Random tell her to fuck off! You know what you have and haven't been doing and she sounds a little off her trolley if she's that interested in busting you for no reason!

PosyFossilsShoes · 14/04/2014 12:11

Not at work today, although I'm meant to be working from home (I'm self employed so the only time I'm wasting is my own!) So much bliss to be in pyjamas at lunchtime!

Thisisimpossible · 14/04/2014 12:30

Hello ladies Smile Please can I join? DC1 is due on the 17th November Smile 12wk scan is due on the 9th May....it can't come soon enough!

Thisisimpossible · 14/04/2014 12:53

Actually, while I'm here, can I just check something? I am 9wks today and have only had an appointment for my 12wk scan through. Apart from that I've heard nothing from anyone, although I see on here that people are having check ups at 8 weeks, 10 weeks etc all before the scan. I haven't heard a thing from any midwife and as it's my first pregnancy tbh I could really do with some support and someone to check in with. I spoke to the doctor about a couple of worries I had last week but I don't want to keep hassling her.

Thanks in advance.

RandomInternetStranger · 14/04/2014 12:56

I had my booking in at 6 weeks and since then a letter for my scan at 11 weeks and that's it. I'm seeing my mw tomorrow at 11+3 but heard nothing from her in 5 weeks, even though I text her a week ago. Hmm

Thisisimpossible · 14/04/2014 13:03

Thanks Random I take it from your post that your booking in session was with your midwife? I am wondering if it's different depending on which county you're in. I'm East Sussex but my friend was Kent and she'd seen her midwife by 8 weeks. Is there anyone on here also in East Sussex?

RandomInternetStranger · 14/04/2014 13:09

I'm Surrey. I was told booking is is usually 8-10 weeks but because of previous history etc I wanted to get in early and as suspected she said I was high risk and would be under consultant led care and would be seen more frequently and have more scans. Little surprised then that my scan & appointments are left so late. I went for a private scan to make myself feel better at 9 weeks.

Giraffeski · 14/04/2014 13:11

This is- I think most people seem to have their booking appointment before their 12 week scan, I would give them a call.

Giraffeski · 14/04/2014 13:13

Oh and no nap- just put Dd2 down for her nap but electrician has just turned up so have to be on brew duty. Think he might look askance if I announced I was going up for a sleep!
Oh well, will potter about and do the meal planning instead.

RiverRocks · 14/04/2014 13:15

Hi Thisisimpossible,

I have my scan the same day as you, I'm 8+5 today.

I had my booking appointment with the midwife last Thursday. Is this your first pregnancy? They took a lot of information, as well as a blood sample and urine sample, so I would be surprised if they didn't want to see you at some point before the scan.
