My bump is pretty big after eating. And night it's biggest. Goes down overnight but still there on the morning now.

Thought i was getting quite big then flicked through my phone and saw a pic of me a couple of days before ds was due and I am TINY now in comparison

fedupofrainydays · 22/04/2014 07:05

jbrd how are you doing? Hope Easter has been ok despite what uncertainty is hanging over you. Lots of hand holding for next couple of days

squizita · 22/04/2014 10:12

I am a September DD interloper!

My bump has become an obvious bump over the last 2 weeks. It is bigger after food but is now even clear 1st thing. Wearing a man's hoodie and a push up bra 'hides' it insomuch as it makes me look big/fat all over. But work clothes, t-shirt/jeans, dress, blouse... it is pretty obvs. It's round and sticks out quite high (not crazy high). I have a small 'waist' under my boobs, then bump, then am quite 'normal' from just above my pubic bone (means I can wear low cut trousers with a hair bobble still, saving me some ££ for now!).

bugs Painkillers are always in my basic travel kit, won't hurt to take those. Pads I reckon you can buy everywhere in the world these days...

I am still convinced that I don't really have a bump. Especially after having my first pregnancy yoga class last night, and everyone else being 30+ weeks - I felt tiny Grin. However, if I stand sideways in front of the mirror and let it all 'hang out', then I look about 10 months gone Hmm

I have decided not to have the CVS tomorrow, opting for amniocentesis instead. At this point, for me, the slightly lower mc risk outweighs the longer wait for the procedure and results. I have waited so much and so long by now, another 2 weeks does not make any difference.

Now trying to decide where to have it... My local hospital (very good reputation, big maternity unit, very good equipment etc.) can fit me in on Monday, the FMC in London only does the procedure on Wednesday (if the Prof is to do it). Much of a muchness date-wise, results take 3 days to come back for both.
Uhming and ahing of where to go - I have been getting excellent care at my hospital and feel very well looked after there, whereas my personal experience at the FMC has been a bit 'meh' overall. But the Prof at the FMC is meant to be the best... On the other hand, amnio is a very standard procedure these days... Plus, I wouldn't have to go all the way to London and back... But do I not owe it to myself, DH and baby to get the best possible consultant?

Argh!! Why can't it be simple for once, FFS!

Sorry for the rant Blush

fedupofrainydays · 22/04/2014 14:07

jbrd where are you booked in for the amino? I would go with what you feel most comfy with.... But the procedure will be ok whichever hospital you pick.

JBrd · 22/04/2014 16:43

Well, I am covering all bases and have now booked the amnio at both my hospital (Monday) and at the FMC (Wednesday next week).

Now I have a few days to make up my mind where to actually have the procedure - but I am about 98% certain that I will have it at my hospital. Completely based on how I feel about everything, but I reckon, at the end of the day, I feel more at ease about having it here...I think Confused

TaytoCrisp · 22/04/2014 20:39

bugs you will have a fab hol! Im sure it will be carefree and relaxing.

My bump is becoming more pronounced and I was asked if I was pregnant for the first time today. Its suspiciously soft and I'm concerned that it is solely a chocolate mound after a recent 2 choc fest! I have had a lot of expansion and contraction in he past few years so maybe that is also contributing to the soft shapelessness.

jbrd i agree with you that the amnio procedure is fairly common, and would hope that you would be well cared for in either place. Very best of luck in the week ahead.

TinyTear · 23/04/2014 14:32

Hello all,
just a quick hello to say I am hanging on...

finally got AF after the MC and need to wait one more cycle before NK testing... then I shall be back at it!

Glad to hear all pregnancies are progressing well

JBrd · 23/04/2014 15:32

Good to hear from you tiny, hang in there! Great that you can get the NK testing done.

tayto Apart from one friend who know I was ttc (and who also hadn't seen me for a few weeks since I had started the combat-eating), no one seems to have noticed that I'm pg. Or maybe they are just too polite to say anything Grin
I am always wearing either a scarf or waterfall cardigan (or both) and stretch dresses with patterns/structured fabric, so it's difficult to make out a body shape. But I reckon, people at work are just thinking that I'm getting fat - the majority is much younger than me, fresh out of uni, so not 'tuned in' Wink

I have now booked the amnio both at my hospital and at the FMC - keeping all options open. Giving myself until Friday to decide where I'll have it, but am almost certain I'll go to my hospital.

TaytoCrisp · 23/04/2014 16:40

its not just a chocolate baby -it's real! 17 weeks today. Arrived for routine consultant appointment and he have me a quick scan. So I saw the little mover and shaker though I have not felt much yet. Yay! Very grateful to the nhs today Wink.

Hi tiny great to hear you sounding positive after a hard time, and moving towards some tests which I hope will help. Fingers crossed for good news in a few mths. Will be keeping an eye out for u!

squizita · 23/04/2014 17:07

Tiny best of luck with the tests! Hope you're back on these boards soon!

Tayto yay for wriggly baby!

I had my anomaly scan today. Baby was medically normal (biggest yay) a little long and "chubby"! And a girl! :)

OP posts:
TaytoCrisp · 23/04/2014 17:34

Yay Squiz - great news! A little girl chubster is great - strong and resilient Smile. You must be past the half way point..counting down now!

fedupofrainydays · 23/04/2014 17:45

So I started off today feeling quite confident then sat next to someone at work and through conversation told me that earlier this year his wife lost a baby at 20 wks. He said it was complicated so I sense it could have been something that emerged from anomaly scan. My biggest fear at the mo.
I've got 5 and half weeks til mine. Considering a private one in between - does anyone know what's the earlier they can check for the medical abnormalities they do at anomaly scan??

Great to hear from you tiny and so pleased you are getting the tests done. Hope you will be back on te antenatal threads very soon.

squiz great scan news!! Glad all is well and was it a girl DH was most comfortable with having based on his and his sisters behaviour?!

tayto glad you got some good reassurance today, the NHS are coming up trumps for once!

jbrd I think where you feel most comfy is right, but at least you have both bases covered in case you change your mind last min. Work people just think I'm fat too!

nearlyreadytopop · 23/04/2014 17:51

tiny good to hear from you and great you are getting nk tested.
Great news squiz we are over the humpSmile .
I most definitely look pregnant. I think I look further along than 21 weeks but my lovely friend says that its normal for second babies.
I'm also getting more movement's now. I was telling dh about it last night and ds (3) overheard and said it must be a little mouse in mummys tummyGrin . We haven't told him about a little brother or sister yet, I think I will leave it until much nearer the time.
Hope everyone else had a lovely Easter.

nearlyreadytopop · 23/04/2014 17:54

fedup I had a private reassurance scan at 17.5weeks. The sonographer was lovely and without asking ran through some of the 20 week checks. Brain and spine, I was a little bit too stunned that it was still going strong to take much in.

TinyTear · 24/04/2014 08:44

Thanks all. I shal now hide this again, but will find you with news, hopefully
x

TaytoCrisp · 24/04/2014 13:36

rainy i would ask for an extra reassurance scan or book a private scan between now and 20 wks. They could at least reassure you that things look normal even if they don't provide as much detail as they would after the 20 wks one. I just find it very helpful to have the extra reassurance too.

jbrd good luck with the decision making tomor..

Tumtimes1 · 24/04/2014 14:18

YAY Squiz that is fantastic news about your 20 week scan. Mine is on next tuesday and I am SCARED.
I have been having some minor craps (like my 10-12 week ones). I am hoping it s the usual stretching pains I have heard so much about. Movement wise she is wiggling around more often now, particularly in the afternoon and evening.
I had a private reassuarnce scan at 18 weeks and the sonogrpaher commented on heart saying the chambers were all equal size and the kidneys were working apparently.
So we still have quite a bit to be checked at our offical scan next week. Once we know this is all ok we will be telling people.
Hey all!

JBrd · 24/04/2014 15:17

Just had my 16-week appointment with the midwife - bit underwhelmed, to be honest. Blood pressure, urine check, going over results from booking bloods, all good. She couldn't find the heartbeat Sad, but kept assuring me that she heard movements and an apparently very faint heartbeat behind mine. Hmph.
Apparently, it is so difficult to pick up a heartbeat this early (and me having an empty bladder because I provided the urine sample didn't help either) - why do they offer it then?! Not reassuring at all!
Hmph again.

TaytoCrisp · 24/04/2014 21:58

What a pain jbrd. My mw was very hesitant to check at 15+3 but I asked her to. So I think they are a bit uncomfortable about offering it then. But not at all helpful when they r unsure whether they have found it r not. At least u don't have long to wait for your scan, and hopefully things will start looking up for you then. But what a pain for you today.

Hi tum! Glad your Keeping well. I have to say I often get uncomfortable twinges and the odd pain which I am putting down to stretching. And my midwife advised that with organs being pushed around and moved up it was to be expected. So hopefully those cramps are just stretching for your little one. Good luck on Tuesday.

Bugs That makes total sense! But I think that the NHS is trying to give women a lifeline to cover the time between the 12 and 20 week scans... I remember that the MW always struggled to find DS's heartbeat, even when I was further along.
I'm not too upset about it, it's just one more thing that I don't need right now Sad

DH confessed yesterday that he feels really down about not being able to enjoy the pregnancy Sad We should be at a stage of telling people, fightingdiscussing over baby names, making plans etc. But we just don't dare to get too excited or attached.
I'm feeling quite emotional and apprehensive today. Currently getting lots of invitations for birthday parties from our May baby group that DS belongs to, and I'm struggling with the idea that I might not be pregnant anymore by the time the parties happen.

Having said that, the thought of stopping this pregnancy fills me with absolute dread. It has been such a tough time to get here, and I honestly don't know if I could ever face it again. I am well and truly in two minds about what I would do, should we find out the baby has Down's.
Trying to take one step at a time, DH and I agree that we will see what the amnio results are - but I'm all confused Confused

TaytoCrisp · 25/04/2014 13:49

Handholding jbrd for another week.., really hope in a weeks time you and DH will have had positive results and can relax a little (having had ur fair share of uncertainty and worry)... X

I'm on train to London for a weekend with pals! Looking forward to it, though they are major night owls so i wiill be the boring one sloping back to the hotel early (and first up for breakfast probably!).

fedupofrainydays · 27/04/2014 20:15

jbrd how are you doing? Thinking of you and the amino tomorrow, hope all goes ok

JBrd · 27/04/2014 21:53

Thank you, ladies. I'm ok, we had a nice day with friends, lots of distraction. I'm now tired enough that I'll probably fall asleep pretty soon... I've not felt too great in the last couple of days, but more physically that emotionally - I've discovered that I now can only eat small portions of food, otherwise I feel really ill. And I have still been eating like I did in the first trimester, ie lots and fast! Doesn't work anymore.

DH has taken the day off tomorrow to be around, and I will also stay at home on Tuesday - taking no chances. I wish the week was already over - I'm not too worried about the procedure anymore, but the wait for the results is going to be hell Confused
