sarahjinx that's so grim! I had it when I was 7 months and I have to say vomiting with a kicking baby inside was HELL. Be sure to look after yourself and stay hydrated! And if you vomit for more than 24 hours I'd call for advice!

I'm not good at name checking, sorry. Just pop in and write every now and then, hope you all have a lovely Saturday! I'm in bed watching DH and DS hoovering... Could be worse! :)

dobedobedo · 05/04/2014 11:25

sarah I am 36 weeks in a couple of days and you can't take codeine after then according to my doc, so no point in anything substantial like that at this point. I do think a few days of rest will help. I've had 2 weeks of being constantly on the go and now I'm on mat leave, I can take it easier.

Also Sarah at the antenatal class they told us that a "stomach bug" is a precursor to labour. Got your hospital bag packed? Smile

Moomin symptom watch is so exciting! I have had constant braxton hicks since Thursday but nothing to make me worry. Now I've finished work I might start back on the raspberry leaf tea. I don't feel ready to have a baby yet though! It's getting very real!

bornin 9 days!! Shock Grin

MoominIsEightNinthsManatee · 05/04/2014 11:35

dobe From what I saw when desperately googling last night to find out if I was dying about to pop a baby out there and then, it sounds like I'm in for a long latent stage. Spoken to someone this morning who said it sounds like latent stage. The backache was horrendous - the pains with the tightenings were bearable and I could just about talk through them but I had to beg OH to rub my back, when even my birth'plan' says "Don't touch my back under any circumstances" Grin it's exciting but nerve-wracking... I'm hoping it'll be a fairly long-lasting latent stage as I have the busiest week at uni next week!

I'm trying to stop taking cocodamol but god it's so difficult Sad does raspberry leaf tea work?

36+5... drop zone starts in two days!!

dobedobedo · 05/04/2014 11:51

I took raspberry leaf tea capsules with ds. My pushing stage lasted about 20 minutes, despite me being flat on my back after an exhausting 18 hour labour. So I'd definitely get raspberry leaf tea if I were you! It takes a while to build up in your system.
There's positions you can sit in to encourage the baby to engage in your pelvis which helps too. I'm gonna wait until I'm at least 37 weeks before I do anything like that though. Also sex (if you can imagine that!) and pineapples!

NannyPlumForPM · 05/04/2014 12:09

God I literally can't imagine having sex ever again at the moment!! I know xavielli and mrsfoocough are fans though Wink

Got the inlaws from hell coming round tomorrow.... So expect a horrible ranty message tomorrow night. Fil is coming too this time... I know that they need to see dd1 and she loves them so it's not that but they stay about 6/7 hours and their journey is an hour/hour 15 max.

Fil doesn't think I should've had the baby due to risk of disability and has said I should have terminated. They have said to dp in past that they wish they never had him and wished him dead. (Then made up by giving him lots of money but in my book this is unforgivable). They want a relationship with dd but think buying her loads of toys will make her love them more than me.

So I got a text yesterday informing me of their impending arrival either tomorrow or next wk. considering I give birth in two weeks that probably wouldn't be practical. But I just received a text saying fil is coming but mil has told him I am emotional so he has promised to be calm ..........

RAGE ALERT

dobedobedo · 05/04/2014 12:21

nanny your FIL sounds horrible! I feel for you.
This is the longest we haven't had sex for since we've been together. It must have been 4 or 5 weeks since the last time. Dh hasn't even been pestering me, I think I'm offended!

MoominIsEightNinthsManatee · 05/04/2014 12:22

nanny he sounds absolutely vile! Rant away, I hope he behaves himself tomorrow!

NannyPlumForPM · 05/04/2014 12:46

Good luck for any grand national bets today by the way :) Ty for your support- I don't mean to moan so much but he rilesme... Hopefully this'll be the last visit until baby is a week or two old!

MoominIsEightNinthsManatee · 05/04/2014 13:56

This morning's panic has spurred me on, baby's bag is now (I think!) finished. Got a couple of bottles of formula milk from Morrisons just in case bf doesn't work very well. Is SMA Gold any good? It was the only First Milk they had - other brands were Aptamil, Cow & Gate and Hipp I think?

Bezzabelle · 05/04/2014 14:16

Good job toddlers don't come with receipts else I think I may have returned my ds today! He was a horror all day yesterday on my birthday and hasn't been much better so far today. Not sure what has happened to my sweet, gentle little boy, think he senses change is a coming.....

Hope everyone having a good weekend, sounds like there will be some babies very soon! Whoever it was who said about swollen ankles, you need to raise them up above your head (easier said than done I know!) as this reduces the fluid.

NannyPlumForPM · 05/04/2014 14:17

Sma's fine- they are all much of a muchness! I think sma is one of the more expensive long term? I had cow and gate last pg and am using again- got the bottle starter set with 12 in (inc sterilised bottles and teats and 12 formulas) but am wondering about getting a second lot of 12 in case baby is in for a while (blood sugar checks/ talipes etc??)

Would be good to have an idea of the amount of time
We need to be kept in for!

Also have a bit of a tummy bug situ here Blush delightful

NannyPlumForPM · 05/04/2014 14:18

bezabelle is it above your head or Above your heart? Have been putting mine above heart but just think head is uncontainable Grin

MoominIsEightNinthsManatee · 05/04/2014 14:29

I have too much bump to get my feet above my head. Grin I used to be able to touch my ears with my knees before pregnancy grumble grumble

Thanks nanny wasn't sure if there were huge differences in them... SMA seemed the cheapest in Morrisons but that may be because the C&G and Aptamil ones were Hungry Baby Milk? If that makes a difference. Feels like a minefield! Thankfully I've had tonnes of nappies bought for me so the choice hasn't been mine thus far when it comes to nappies

NannyPlumForPM · 05/04/2014 14:44

I'm a fan of pampers rather than huggies (I am very Eco-unfriendly Grin ) but it really is a case of trying them all out! Don't discount aldi/lidl/supermarket own brand until you try them. Some of them are brilliant! I personally found huggies to be the leakiest and was a huge fan of the morrisons own but usually I just had whatever was on offer. A bit of trial and error needed :) same with wipes!

What I would say is that if you start on one formula - it is sometimes better to stick to that brand rather than switching all the time because they have little irritated tummies :)

You have first milk (and comfort milk which is a bit more expensive but good for colic and intolerances) then when babies get a bit older, or if they are having a lot of liquid and you think it's not quite filling them up- they sometimes get hungrier but their tummies are still tiny so the hungrier baby (stage 2) milk helps fill them up more and they TEND to sleep better (dd didn't sleep till she was 3 so this is very loose advice Wink )

Then you get follow on milk iirc- or stage '3' which is from about ) months and has different nutrients etc as it's supplemented with a weaning diet. The you have the 1-2 year old milk which is when I moved onto pure cows milk!

MoominIsEightNinthsManatee · 05/04/2014 14:53

Thanks for the explanation Nanny it really does seem like a minefield! At the minute I think I've got a huge pack of ALDI nappies, a pack of Pampers, a pack of Boots own brand and some ASDA ones too Grin all in varying sizes.

Bezzabelle · 05/04/2014 15:01

Ha, yes maybe above your heart!!!

Bornin1984 · 05/04/2014 15:06

They dont make buggies nappies anymore!

I also plan on bf but have 4 bottles of cow and gate and two tuba for when at home! Cow and gate is cheapest here with aptamil dearest! They all the same Ffs

Xavielli · 05/04/2014 15:40

Blimey I must have been quiet this thread had fallen off my active list! 36 weeks today :) :) :) happy for baby to arrive any time now - especially as the kids are on holiday from school. Consultant and a scan this Thursday so will get my induction date. Hoping it's before the kids are back at school, makes things easier for whoever ends up looking after them.

Sorry for those in pain and with dodgy tums xx

Isean · 05/04/2014 16:54

Thanks for making me feel better Moomin, Squiffie, loopy, Mrsmummy and pickle Thanks, I am still feeling a bit low and quiet today, but the tears have dried up at least! Thank goodness for my virtual people!

I have also had a dicky tummy today after feeling blocked up for a couple of days, I've been back and fore to the toilet this afternoon! (sorry TMI!)

NannyPlum your FIL sound like a complete arse! Really feel for you! Not at all what you need at this stage!

Anyone else's baby still breech?

Xav how's the cholestasis and liver stuff going?

moobaloo · 05/04/2014 17:05

(Hugs) Isean xx

Nanny, your fil sounds awful! Good luck with the visit

Just to add to the varying brand names... I have one bottle and two cartons of aptamil first milk just in case. But haven't really looked at formula as I am determined to breastfeed. I figure if I have to swap to formula I can go out and pick up more bottles and a steriliser etc

And I got 400 pampers nappies in 'new baby' sizes 2 and 3 (on offer!) although I'm hoping lidl nappies will fit my baby as lidl is closest to my home! I'm looking at reusable nappies once I've got past the first 6 months... We'll see!

33+5

MoominIsEightNinthsManatee · 05/04/2014 17:12

Backache is back, some very slight painful tightenings too... my mum reckons I'm going to pop in the next week because it's how she started off with me. I'm still being pessimistic pragmatic and thinking I'll go all the way to 40 weeks!

Chip86 · 05/04/2014 17:19

Would just like to say thank you to all the lovely ladies who have been talking about hospital bags, i had my NHS anti natal class today and they asked who had packed there bags and i was the only one with my hand up
so they asked me what i had packed and i had everything on there list even mentioned car seat which they had forgotten about, they also said it was the right amount the most your likely to be there is 3 days
They said people eather come in with a handbag or bags packed for two weeks
so a very big thank you to everyone you made me look very organised Thanks

a tip for anyone planning a water birth please take partners swim stuff they had a very nervouse and excited man strip off and get in the pool, midwifes did not no were to look Grin

MoominIsEightNinthsManatee · 05/04/2014 17:34

Haha Chip that made me giggle, I originally wanted a water birth and can totally imagine OH forgetting his shorts, getting overexcited and just jumping in the pool Hmm

That or he'd come with flippers and a snorkel too Confused

SarahJinx · 05/04/2014 17:40

Oh god dobedo I hope not, I am SO not ready. Also, every time I get a twinge I freak right out, I seriously think that when I go into labour I might have a full on panic attack, clearly never dealt with last time.

Feeling a little better, tummy is churning, bean is also churning which is not helping, but am so tired and useless it's unbelievable. To think that at this point last time (35+5) I still had seven bloody weeks to go feels crazy, I don't think I'll go over this time. Starting to feel lots of low pressure. Not ready, must pack bag properly and get baby an actual bed!!

My wonderful mum and dad have been over cleaning my house and chasing DS around the garden so I could do food shopping, I p'm stupidly teary about them, they're wonderful and just want to help. ILs on the other hand are pampered and rubbish.

Also, I did not know that about codiene ShockShock!! Why on earth would they not have told me that??! Have mw on Monday, will be asking with my stern face on.....

God lord Nanny, that FIL of yours sounds like a maniac!

NannyPlumForPM · 05/04/2014 18:28

Mmm he is special. They are booked for tomorrow. Thank you for your support all... Dh has work or is pretending Hmm I think a glass of red is in order.

Oh and my horse won the national and scooped me a Luffly £230 Grin so that'll sweeten the blow!
