We dont have a nursery atm and wont have one either.

It will be all of is in a room as ds1 has sn ds2 has ashtma (pretty bad too, hes been having a few attacks lately so safer for him to bw with us) and theres no way I agree on 1 parent in 1 room with a child whilr the otherwith 2 as imo both should be together!

We have just cleared 2 rooms out which should help a little x

CoolCat2014 · 17/04/2014 15:11

We have to finish buying & moving house before I can sort nursery out, so just trying not to think about it atm!

I've still lost weight and not out any back on... Sure it will be different after this week though as I've just discovered my appetite!

Nazly · 17/04/2014 15:38

Hi all, some of you have talked about dream genii pillows, my bump is still small but I am having massive difficulties stay on left and have uninterrupted sleep; just searched and these pillows seem to be around 40 quid - is it right? Where should i get it from you think and cud I find it any cheaper?

P.s. We are not going to have a nursery/nursery really... Our second bedroom is a study at the moment with wall height fitted libraries which I can't imagine moving, and no place to move it to anyhow... So we will have to reorganise the room, sell the big bossy desk, get a very small desk for the corner and then get a little cot for the baby too... A study nursery!!

But I am wondering if I should do that right now or later... is anybody considering the co-spleeping little cots that would attach to your bed? I just can't imagine I would be up to getting up at every cry to get the baby from next room!!! Thinking about having that for the first few month...

rockin20s · 17/04/2014 15:39

Hey all, sorry its been ages since i have posted.
i cleared out the babys room over the weekend, feel so much better now but i just want to shop and fill it! must hold back!

DH is freaking out at me buying stuff. i haven't got much yet, a few baby grows/vests and a second hand stretchy wrap which was very good value.

glad to see the pinks are starting to catch up. we wont be finding out but i am getting jealous of you guys who are finding out!

Mummyto3tobe · 17/04/2014 16:22

thanks kitkat, has anyone else had the downs test yet and what was your results? still cant get it off my mind, bit happier that DH has managed to reassure himself a bit better today cos last night he was so worried. I still am. Just trying to cover it up for him Sad Just cant believe the letter said 1 in 240. So shocked and unprepared.

We have baby's cot all ready and in his room, its like the tiniest box room ever - will just about fit a chest of drawers in there or a changing unit but we will get that later. Now we know its a boy i have bought a few blue/boy colour things but havent gone tooo over board just yet.

I wish i hjadnt put any weight on yet! - i dont think im doing too bad, in ten weeks id put on 5.5lbs in ten weeks from week 6 to 16. trying to keep it to a normal weight gain this time not 3-4 stone like the last 2 times!

weebairn · 17/04/2014 16:49

HippyJess I hate scans. They really stress me out. Mine's not till 15 May though…

Nazly, we didn't even begin to make a nursery-type room till around 8 months with my daughter. We co-slept for about 5 months (with some sleep in a moses basket next to the bed after the first 6 weeks) and then used a cot with the side taken off for the next few months. It's lovely having your baby right there with you at first, I have no idea how people could have them in another room!! Babies' sleep is very variable but in my experience few people get babies who consistently sleep for more than a few hours in the early months. (Mine slept for an incredible 10 hours a night between months 2 and 4… but then was waking all the time again!) And if you're breastfeeding (especially if you manage to learn to do it lying down) you get WAY more sleep than having to get out of bed all the time. Then they get bigger and start thrashing around and I couldn't wait to get her in her own cot/ room Grin Even so until about a year she usually came in our bed for the second half of the night.

So we didn't bother buying a cot or anything for her room till several months after the birth. I know people like to prepare in advance but I find I'm never sure what I want in advance.

weebairn · 17/04/2014 16:50

I think I'm beginning to get a wee bump. Wearing very tight clothes to show it off :)

16 + 2

weebairn · 17/04/2014 16:51

oooh nazly meant to say, you can make most cots into a co-sleeper cot just by taking a side off when you assemble it and tying it your bed. Then you can use it as normal cot later too. Much much cheaper!!

lilone1234 · 17/04/2014 16:58

mummyto3tobe I'm sorry to hear about your test result. I think it probably seems higher when compared to previous results, but I certainly would feel the same as you.

We moved in to our house in November and are still in the process of painting the room from pink (little girl's room before) to white (you think that DP would have had plenty of time having been out of work for 4 months, but that's another story!) and now will have to redecorate pink again! It did need new paint though. I think I will put a cot in that room and have a moses basket/crib in my room to begin with though.

We have also had central heating installed this week, meaning my house is chaotic and dirty - not a relaxing week off at all! But there is no way we could have had a baby in this house with it being as cold and damp as it's been here during the winter when we moved in. Also been in the process of removing and killing mould from all the windows - hopefully can get the place more habitable by the time baby comes!

nazly I got my pregnancy pillow (same sort of thing as genii) for around £30 I think from amazon - they've a fair few on there.

Nazly · 17/04/2014 17:55

Mummytobe I understand why you would be worried, but have you checked with your midwife,gp yet as to whether to do more tests? You are absolutely right in that the chances are still very very small.... So I would focus on the positive side...

Weebarin thanks a lot for that, i didn't know you could use any cot for co-sleeping, that's so useful to know; I was looking online for co-sleeping cots and could only find a few, and none in high street normal shops... Then I guess I should try to find one with the right height so it matched our bed height preferably... Can you take the side off any cot? Or should I check? This is going to save me some money moving the same cot to the other bedroom later ...

Lilone thanks for the tip x I'll check Amazon then

Topsyloulou · 17/04/2014 17:56

We had our scan today & we are team blue!

Just got home even though the scan was at 10am as we've been checking out cribs & pushchairs so we know what we want to bid on when things come up on eBay. Think we may have just struck a deal on the pushchair.

Mummyto3tobe my test came back as 1 in 164. A lot higher than I would have liked but think mine is largely down to age. I was worried at first but have put it to the back of my mind. Even if it had been in the zone for further testing we wouldn't have done so anyway. Just thinking positive that everything will be ok when he arrives.

Nazly · 17/04/2014 18:00

Oh and Weebarin, thanks for your other post too, I feel much better about delaying preparing a nursery...

As it is now, when anybody stays with us we prepare the study for them as guest room, and my plan is for the grandmas to stay with us in turn in the first few months to help out... I was just rethinking how to rearrange our whole house so it all works, with only two bedrooms,,,
Not sure how, but it has to work somehow as we can't afford moving to a bigger house at least for anther couple of years, if that...

lilone1234 · 17/04/2014 18:22

Congrats topsy!

Eastwiththem · 17/04/2014 18:26

Mummytobe did it have a breakdown of your results and how they calculated the risk? You are clearly older now than when you had your first 2 so your risk will have gone up because of that despite everything else perhaps staying the same. Age is a big a factor in risk for downs but some 20 year old mums have downs babies and some 50 year old mums have no issues at all. It's a bit of a blunt statistical measure in that regard.

I'm 18 weeks today and only put on 3lb so far. I had two miscarriages last year so I'm worried that's a bad sign and things aren't growing properly :(

polkadotdelight · 17/04/2014 19:11

I'm too scared to weigh myself but I might brave it tomorrow morning!

We don't have a nursery, our spare room contains overflow wardrobes and DHs music gear (our house is teeny). We put the house up for sale two weeks ago and I'm praying we get an offer and move before September. If not, well the baby will be in with us for 6 months and after that we will work something out!

Inbl00m · 17/04/2014 19:58

Hi everyone

Just checking in as I wanted to say congrats to everyone who's found out whether they're team pink or blue, and hope everyone's got a lovely stress-free Easter hols planned - I think we all deserve it! For the first time since being pregnant I was desperate for a glass of wine after finishing work this eve - just had that Spring holiday feeling Smile

lucidlady · 17/04/2014 20:32

mummytobe hope you are ok and not too stressed. Is there someone you can call for more advice?

Has anyone else started getting reflux? Mine started on Tuesday - every evening around 8pm it kicks in. Grim Sad

misog2000 · 17/04/2014 20:34

My 20 week scan is 12th May by which time I will be 20+4 and I was 13 wks for my last one so mine are quite late too. I'm another one stressing about weight gain too, I've put on about 8lbs and everyone I know who has young kids say they only put on 1.5 stone total! Can't see I'm going to keep it down that low by the way in currently going.

Mummyto3tobe · 17/04/2014 20:43

No way in hell is my weight gain gonna stay below 1.5stone! Ha. Iv probably put on around 8lb too and im 18 weeks just over i think thats pretty normal. They say around a Pound a week for the second and third trimesters.

Mummyto3tobe · 17/04/2014 20:44

Came home from work and my dh is still besides himself with worry, even considering the NIFTY test, they do it in shrewsbury right by us for £295. Part of me wants to know but the other part is scared incase we find out the worst :-(

misog2000 · 17/04/2014 20:46

Sorting out nurseries sounds fun Smile we have to move in August so can't do anything towards that till we are sorted, don't really feel like I can buy any big items either as will just have to pack them up to move.

Mummy to be and topsy, with those scores there is still a really high chance that everything will be completely fine, everything crossed for you both but sure everything will be ok.

Lucid I get some heartburny type reflux sometimes when I get into bed! Not nice, and yours sounds worse than mine.

Congrats to all the pinks and blues, determined not to find out ATM but might well change our minds closer to my scan

lucidlady · 17/04/2014 20:47

Mummy I had the Harmony and that is the same as NIFTY I think, in that it looks for free cell foetal DNA. It's meant to be more accurate than the NHS tests but the only way to know for sure is to have the amnio. £295 is a good price - mine was £400. I think it takes approx 2 weeks for the tests to come back.

Hugs to you and your DH.

whiteblossom · 17/04/2014 20:48

congrats topsy! Misog 1.5 stone sounds on the light side to me but don't worry about other people. Everyone is different and the weight will come off after. Most people put weight on at different stages of pregnancy but it all evens out in the end. (says the women who tried on her 'thin' jeans today just to see if the weight was confined to the bump!!!) Grin

Ive just ordered a changing table eek! It was in the sale and too good to pass up. Should be delivered after the 20 week scan next week. Technically free as I just sold something on gumtree that I was given that covered the cost! Grin

lilone1234 · 17/04/2014 21:18

I'm trying not to worry too much about weight gain and I don't weigh myself generally. I don't even own scales currently. I just want a nice big bump rather than a wobbly tummy, but it's getting there! I feel like I gained quite a lot, or at least grew quite quickly, between weeks 12 and 16 then it was a bit less for a couple of weeks. I suppose that if you're eating well (ish) and doing some activity then nature should just take its course!

However, I am meant to be getting married next year, so I may get a bit more panicky about it further down the line! But actually, for once it's nice to know that I am going to gain some weight for a good reason and not have to feel bad about it!

topmammy · 17/04/2014 21:38

lilone I'm finding it totally liberating not having to feel self conscious about my tummy area. Love showing off the bump! Definitely nice weight gain :)

Well I fit in my bridesmaid dress for my friends wedding even with my bump so it'll definitely fit after baby is born, that was a relief. I think my friend is a bit stressed at the idea of both my (most probably) leaking basoomas and my very young baby attending her wedding (as am I a bit). But if my baby can't go then I don't think I would go either!
