I did buy a nice new bra at the weekend as my boobs have gone up a size now. Woman was very sniffy about wearing wires. Whatever. I am breastfeeding currently so I think I will know pretty quickly if there are any issues with it.

KatharineClover · 08/04/2014 08:00

Thanks so much for your support ladies - you made me realise my concern was justified and helped me to get more info and I do feel a lot better. :)

waffles thanks so much for confirming what was niggling away in the back of my mind - I don't mind where I give birth (and probably I was being a little naive!) but I feel a bit annoyed that my midwife didn't suggest that delivery suite is the more appropriate choice to me at booking in. My midwife couldn't access my blood results at my 16 week appt (as I have been seeing her at my drs surgery and she couldn't get the computer system to work for her - but from the week after that onwards appts will now be at the MLU cottage hospital). I did ring my drs after the booking blood test but they only said 'normal' and no more detail. (I know last time I was 10.5 at 28weeks (no treatment to raise levels given), 'haemocrit' was 10 straight after blood loss, falling to 7, then 9 at discharge following 2 transfusions). I'm not due to see a mw again until 28 weeks (3rd week in June) so I guess I'll wait for my mw to get back off her hols and then chase up again if I haven't heard anything in a few weeks?

Woah isitme that is a huge loss, I'm glad you are being well looked after for this pregnancy and birth x

DearDinah · 08/04/2014 08:02

katharineclover we have our suspicions it's a girl, won't know till scan on the 25th be nice if it is, hope we have what me & mum have got, I'm gonna start swimming this week, at 19+6 & already with a big bum god knows what size I'm gonna end up!

HippyJess · 08/04/2014 08:22

Dinah I think my bum's bigger too, it was already huge! Hmm everyone thinks I'm having a girl too so like you I'll have to wait for my scan - also on the 25th! - to find out Wink

isitme1 · 08/04/2014 08:28

I was reading up on pphs and someone on netmumslost 3.5l!
My levels before delivery were 8. I had an iron infusion to which I had a horrible reaction to and ended up in a+e! So couldn't have the 2nd infusion. After delivery it wasn't checkedand before I was sent home they weren't checked either. When I went back the the2nd time after clots they checked and it had gone down to 6! So I had 2 units amd they came upto 9 and on iron for 6weeks.
This time ive been on pregadaysince I found out (not pregnacare) and in 1 day they fell from 11 to 10! I had appointment on a Wednesday and Thursday 2 different clinics and the 2nd clinic sent me a letter comparing both bloods! Im supposed to have monthly bloods done to keep eye on it!

isitme1 · 08/04/2014 08:29

Are you taking any iron or multivitamin?

DownstairsMixUp · 08/04/2014 08:38

My bum has got loads bigger I think (DP insists it hasn't) I found out I was having a boy though! It's weird as this pregnancy is completely different to my first and I have all "girl" old wives tales but the willy on the screen def confirmed it was a boy!

weebarin I would tell work if I were you, maybe they will have a different attitude to what you are expecting? I expected mine to not care but they have been really good and put me on light duties which helps as I've been having bad pains in my hips.

topmammy · 08/04/2014 09:14

My bum was already huge so it's hard to tell if it has got any bigger lol. DH is always complimenting my bum so I'm sure he wouldn't mind if it got bigger!

Me and DH have placed our bets on a girl, but really don't mind which. We should hopefully find out at the scan...TOMORROW!!!! Omg can't believe it is actually tomorrow!

I think I may have felt my first little kick last night, just below my belly button. It would be an unusual place to feel wind so really hope it was a kick :D

rockin20s · 08/04/2014 10:53

delighted i have booked my anomaly scan for 13th May, I will be 21w4d by then, i am in Ireland and my hospital does not offer them normally so have had to go privately.

have midwife tomorrow also, can wait to hear the heartbeat again!

Mummyto3tobe · 08/04/2014 16:22

I had a Quinny Buzz (reading back to Sundays topic! - i just cant keep up!) and i loved it, so easy to push around especially if you have other little ones you can hold their hand and push the push chair with one hand easily. the only down side to it and why i didnt buy one again this time is the tyres are air filled and tend to go down quite quickly meaning you need to keep pumping them up.
This time i've gone with an icandy (i think the apple version) as the tyres are rubber filled and we wont have this problem.

So i have some news....we had a gender scan (randomly, totally unplanned) yesterday and found out were having a BOY Grin DH is totally over the moon as he has been calling it a boy since he found out, i had been calling it a she so it's a little shock for me as i didnt expect a boy but i would have been happy either way. So now i am officially on team Blue! Smile

DownstairsMixUp · 08/04/2014 16:25

topmammy thats where I felt my first kick :) So think that is it for you!

Congrats on your baby boy mummy, boys are great aren't they?! Grin

isitme1 · 08/04/2014 16:33

Mummy Ive had mine almost 4 years and probably had to change the tubes in tyres around 3x! I do loads of walking too and ive had both dc on/in the pram Blush

Mummyto3tobe · 08/04/2014 16:49

thanks Downstairs, i have a 6yr old DS and a 3yr old DD and tbh my DD was far more entertaining but thats probably down to her personality being more like a little monkey, and i love pink things so i just loved buying the teeny little shoes and dresses for her so im a tiny bit gutted i wont be able to do that but shoes and dresses aside gender didnt mean anything to me, i have one of each and my DH really wanted a boy so im just happy he's got his boy now (this is his first born).

My kicks are just above the top of my pelvis and sort of feel like bubbles popping inside, cant feel nothing from the outside yet. im 17 weeks tomorrow.

Had my Downs blood test last wednesday so slightly nervous hoping i dont get a call from the hospital as that means bad news. eek.

KatharineClover · 08/04/2014 20:02

isitme I now feel a bit silly for admitting I'm not taking any vitamins/iron Blush I've been trying to eat lots of iron rich foods though. I was waiting for my blood test results to discuss with my midwife, but then she couldn't access them at my 16 week appt, and I got excited about hearing the heartbeat (and had my 3 year old with me) and forgot to ask. My drs surgery have printed them off for me though so I can collect them at some point to go in my notes. They also confirmed that no referral has been done for me to the consultant :( Hopefully now a note has been left for my midwife she will sort this when she is back from her holiday. I'm actually (strangely?) quite excited about seeing a consultant and sorting out an action plan. It has crossed my mind that, as my big worry is a fast labour/birth without time to get medical help (e.g. at home or en route to the hospital - it is the closest, but is still 25 mins away in good traffic), perhaps I could ask the consultant about induction? I've read that this can lead to more intervention, but the plus side is that everything that needs to be in place will be. I think I'm going to start a list of questions to ask the consultant and get their advice on. :)

lilone1234 · 08/04/2014 20:03

ooo im so excited to find out what i'm having, finding out next week! Congrats Mummyto3tobe on your news!

On the subject of the in between stage, i'm certainly feeling that! Stomach is much bigger but only the top is hard so just doesn't look like a proper bump yet!

OneInAMinion · 08/04/2014 20:07

Congrats mummy!

Only just catching up too & also interested in the pushchair conversation. Has anyone got the silver cross surf as that's my favourite at the moment?

I'm 16+2 and got to hear Hitch's heartbeat today for the first time at my mw app today, which was fab & the baby was in the exact place where I felt movement on Sunday night when s/he poked me twice whilst watching MotD Smile

OneInAMinion · 08/04/2014 20:08

Oh & I have bump envy as I still don't look pregnant & I barely have a bump!!

misog2000 · 08/04/2014 20:20

KatharineClover I'm not taking anything other than folic acid at the moment either. I don't want to take a pregnancy vitamin as iron does awful things to my digestive system so I'm trying to manage that via diet if at all possible. I think I should be taking some vitamin d though? Planning to ask the midwife on Thursday as I have my 16 wk appt

isitme1 · 08/04/2014 20:29

I would recommend keeping iron levels up so maybe a gentle iron like the liquid stuff? As if iron levels are good hopefully wont feel as bad after?

lucidlady · 08/04/2014 20:40

Hi all sorry I haven't been around much lately - been busy with 2 yo DD and work. Hope everyone is well.

Had my 18 week appt with midwife today - bloods all good, heard HB, so all going well! Junior is wriggling like mad - I'm now being woken at 5am most days with his fidgeting! I am also huge already but guess that is down to this being #2!

Has anyone else started the countdown to maternity leave? I can't wait. Finding it really difficult to concentrate at work - have severe case of baby brain! 18 weeks to go!

Also have pram envy. I've decided to stick with the Bugaboo Cameleon we bought for DD as it is a fab pram and also can't really justify getting a new one as it's lasted so well. Booo! Enjoy the road-testing ladies, it's great fun!

DownstairsMixUp · 08/04/2014 20:44

mummy I've never had a girl so don't know what it's like but can imagine the little dresses and stuff are cute! The first thing i thought of when i found out this was a boy was i could dress my Ds and him in matching outfits Blush I'm easily pleased! Hope your results come back fine x

I would take iron to but then i am paranoid as i had a pph before and really low iron levels so i'm just ultra paranoid on myself!

I def have a bump but this is my second and i am quite small so it sticks out, everyone will have their bumps soon! Thanks

cookielove · 08/04/2014 21:13

I haven't felt anything yet, i am 16 weeks today but then i wasn't thinking that i would so i am not overly worried!!

Finally got my mumps blood test through and i am immune :) (only took over a bloody month to come through Hmm )

I have been looking at the quinny buzz to, well online but not in person cause i find it any where local. Also has anyone been to Kiddicare? I really want to go but it is a trek so hope it will be worth it :)

OneInAMinion · 08/04/2014 21:43

I've been dismantling prams in mothercare instead cookie Grin Different stores carry different stock but our solihull one had a couple of quinnys in.

Topsyloulou · 08/04/2014 21:51

I drive past Kiddicare on the way to & from work every day but have only been in once for our private scan at 10 weeks. We're planning on going after our scan next week to check out pushchairs etc & work out what all the stuff is we need to buy!

topmammy · 08/04/2014 22:10

I'm finding it hard to take a multi vitamin every day as they're just so huge! I do take a vitamin D instead+ a folic acid separately though if I don't have a multi vit as I think they're the most important ones? Re. Iron.. my mum thinks I should be eating a nice slab of steak every week lol No guesses what I'm having tomorrow to eat!

lucidlady I feel the same about work. It is just getting in my way and is like the most irritating itch ever!

Scan tomorrow..... I'm so nervous now Confused!
