Hi all! I'mdue 5th of september!

I saw my first movements today (been feeling since 15 weeks) so exciting!

CoolCat2014 · 07/04/2014 14:35

Thanks topmammy :)

Since 8am... Man that's a long time to wait for a pee!!

I went maternity clothes shopping last weekend in Cardiff. Found Red Herring in debenhams and H&M had the best selection. Got 5 tops for £50, bargain! Just hope they are all long enough to last, I have a long torso and usually need long clothes, but no one does maternity tall lady tops!

topmammy · 07/04/2014 14:40

Haha I have made a few mad dashes to pee, definitely couldn't wait that long! Well would you believe it, my delivery arrived about 30seconds after I posted about waiting for it. I was expecting a courier van or something official looking but it was just a rather old, large guy in a rusty old red ford van who had a smoke in front of my drive before heading off again. How strange!

Welcome Downstairs :)

isitme1 · 07/04/2014 14:44

Top next use people connected to hermes (I think they make something like 50p a trip well it was that when a friend of ours did it) courier drops it off at theirs and they deliver ahead.

topmammy · 07/04/2014 14:54

Oh right isitme I didn't know Next did that. Poor guy, he probably spent more than what he earns per trip on petrol to get to my house as I live in a small semi-rural village!

DownstairsMixUp · 07/04/2014 14:58

Thanks top glad you got your delivery! Hermes are usually utter shite for me!

isitme1 · 07/04/2014 15:17

That was a few years ago so I hope they get more!

Next are wonderful for maternity clothes! I have 2 dresses,1 top and 2 leggings from them from last pregnancy. leggings that go over bump and my black pair now have a hole in them! Very visible and only wear them when im at home doing cleaning like today ivedoneloads!!!

Newlooks maternity range was ok and peacocks too. As im Asian I wear both 'English and Asian' clothes and I have 2 things from asian clothes that fit! When I go out just to see family I prefer to wear Asian clothes so will need a few of them too!! Good thing with them is you can alter them a lot on the inside so once Ive hopefully lost some baby weight I can get them altered but keep space for just in case lol.

Hi isitme, you asked about what kind of birth I am hoping to have ...
We have a MLU and labour ward in the same hospital. I've asked if I can go in MLU and my midwife (knowing about the PPH) didn't say no, but she had already ticked 'labour ward' on the outside of my notes at booking in, and had to cross it out. She also hasn't mentioned if I need to see a consultant to discuss the PPH and any action plan before birth - I think I am going to have a very long list of questions for my 28week appointment in June! From some online research I've done, some MLU have a rule about PPH and I am at the cusp of what they would allow, so would need an consultant to approve - if my MLU follows the same protocol as the ones I saw online. To be honest, I don't mind too much, so long as I don't get stuck on the bed again in labour, they help me get into positions that are safe for SPD, and they are prepared in case of PPH. If it wasn't for the PPH risk, I would love a home birth as my first labour was fast (3.5hrs) - my main fear is unplanned home birth without medical help or birth in the car or at the side of the road! Hoping my midwife can reassure me, and help put an action plan together ...

isitme1 · 07/04/2014 17:01

I would have thought you would be under a consultant due to last time? I dont want c section unless its safer. I was thinking epidural/spinal so at least pain is really controlled the synotocin drip really hurts!
If its safer for elcs then I will opt for that. But I will be scared of recovery so would rather go through it at once and not have to worry about wound iyswim.

topmammy · 07/04/2014 17:38

Just been doing some sorting and reached up to get DH's guitar pedal (quite small but heavy metal box things) from the top of a bookshelf but there was another one on top that fell right onto the middle of my chest! Between the boobs! If only I had bigger ones, they could have cushioned the blow haha. Glad it didn't fall on my bump anyway but I felt preggo rage for a few mins after it happened!

Can't believe how much stuff me and DH have. I'm not a horder of stuff and like to keep things in some kind of order but at the mo I feel like I am getting nowhere fast :(

Teabiscuits · 07/04/2014 17:47

katherine I have been told I can't give birth in a midwife led unit as I had a heammorage last time due to a placental abruption, although I am having to see the consultant so that has given me a 'no' straight away.

isitme I'm feeling the same. I don't want a c-sec unless it's safer, but weighing up the risks is difficult! I think I will probably go on consultants advice too. I could really do without c-sec recovery having 3 older ones to look after as well, but if its the least risky I will go for it.

cookielove · 07/04/2014 19:15

Hello all

Been to the dr and there is nothing he can do for my knee till I'm not pregnant but he has prescribed stronger pain killers and referred me urgent physio.

Also I've put on weight

KatharineClover · 07/04/2014 19:18

isitme and teabiscuits can I ask, did you get referred to a consultant from booking in? The reason I ask is my midwife has been a bit scatterbrained at each appt so far (put sticker on bloods form so I had to go and get it re-done with triplicate form filled in, forgot to give me my maternity exemption prescription form, booked my 28 week appt for 37 weeks! Etc) and I'm wondering if she has missed it..? Alternatively, perhaps referral to consultant isn't routine for my level of PPH? They estimated I lost 1 litre of blood (which I know isn't huge), but I lost consciousness and blood pressure was in my boots, I had to have IV fluids and the next night had 2 pints blood transfusion, then iron tablets for 6 weeks. I wondered if you might be able to tell me waffles if my PPH wasn't big enough to need a consultant referral or if that is something I should enquire about? (And sorry to trouble you! Xx)

DownstairsMixUp · 07/04/2014 19:22

Katharine you should get a referral going by my old trust and this current one, most of them do. I had a PPH with my DS and lost nearly 2 but still got referred, I thought it was standard any PPH really so I'd keep bugging people till you get an answer.

KatharineClover · 07/04/2014 19:28

Thanks downstairsmixup - that's what my instincts told me! I have to change a midwife appt, and it is usually midwives answering that phone line so I shall try to give them a call this week and ask, if only to set my mind at rest (only available 9:30-12:30 and always engaged!)

DownstairsMixUp · 07/04/2014 20:06

Sounds like my trust katharine! They booked me in for a obs appointment in april around the 20 week mark specifiying I MUST have my 20 week scan by then and i still haven't heard a thing, when I call it's always engaged to! Drives you mad!

topmammy · 07/04/2014 20:18

Poor you cookie! What did you do to your knee?

Hope you get sorted soon Katharine, how annoying for you.

I'm chomping my way through an entire Easter egg at the moment Blush Baby wants chocolate clearly! I keep thinking I should stop but my hands aren't listening..

Anyone else watching the new series of Game of Thrones tonight?

KatharineClover · 07/04/2014 21:00

topmammy I'm watching GoT as soon as hubby finishes his game on the xbox! Meanwhile, I'm sorting out some work files where I was covering another tutor's lessons.
downstairsmixup I just found an enquiries line number and rang that - although it goes through to my local MLU cottage hospital (which is not the hospital I'm booked into) the midwife could tell me: I should be referred to the consultant (but she was not sure at what point or if my mw has done it already as it is paper based but she will leave a note for her to contact me as soon as she is back from her hols), I wouldn't be allowed to go to her MLU and would be advised to go to consultant unit (but she couldn't confirm the policy for the MLU/cons unit / hospital trust I have booked into). So I feel like I know less and more at the same time! Looks like it'll be consultant unit for me isitme which is ok. I'm listening to my natal hypnotherapy cd each night so hopefully whatever happens I will be calmer :)

cookielove · 07/04/2014 21:31

I'm watching GOT right now :)

Knee thing is an old injury that seems to be flaring up in a very painful way.

DearDinah · 07/04/2014 23:39

Husband just said my bum has definitely got a lot bigger these past two weeks. I have only just finished crying. A fat ass and acne, what a catch! Please tell me I'm not alone in being a tad emosh about my appearance?

KatharineClover · 07/04/2014 23:55

My bum is bigger too - but then I've put on almost a stone already! I read the other day a bigger bum in pregnancy means you are carrying a girl (extra oestrogen I think) - do you know the sex yet deardinah? Tactless hubby could have given you a clue (might be an old wives' tale though!). Everyone is guessing girl with me xx

waffles1990 · 08/04/2014 01:46

Katharine I see you've already spoke to a mw within your Trust but I will echo what she says, you do ideally need to be on the main delivery suite to have baby due to your history.
Even though 1litre isn't a massive loss like you say, the fact you lost consciousness and required a transfusion is the main thing - it was obviously a big loss for you. They should be keeping a good eye on your iron levels antenatally too - do you know what they were from your booking bloods?

rockin20s · 08/04/2014 07:03

I seem to have ballooned over the last week. Well it happened on Saturday, I tried on a dress in the morning to make sure if fit, we then drove 2 hours to a family christening, got some lunch and when I changed into the dress at about 4 o clock I looked huge. The dress was awful but I had nothing else to wear!

I have noticed that my belly button is shallower then before too soon im sure that will pop out in the next few weeks.

I don't Luke this in between stage. I'm bigger but stil hzvd a wobbly tummy. Once it hardens up a bit I think I will feel better

isitme1 · 08/04/2014 07:40

Katharine Ive been consultant led from day1. On my notes there was a sticker that said mw led care and the mw I saw at hosp booking in she quickly changed it.
I would ask at your next hosp appointment to see a consultant if you want to see on to sort out a birth plan. My blood loss was at least 2.5l that was just after delivery. I lost more with clots too.

My backside has always grown with both ds lol so I wouldn't count on that Grin

weebairn · 08/04/2014 07:52

Worked 13 hour shift yesterday with not really any break, and then was asked to stay on for an extra 6 hours till 3am because of staff shortages/sickness. God. I said no I was too tired to work safely, and came home. Felt bad though.

I almost forgot I was pregnant I was so hectic yesterday, rushed off my feet all day. Had a little cry when I got home. DP fed me, put me to bed, I fell asleep in seconds.

I know I should tell work but I also know nothing will change if I do, going on what happened last time I was pregnant. So I'm just sitting on it for now.

No bump here but maybe a bit bigger round the middle. Still in normal trousers and stuff I guess. I don't like this in-between stage either even though I don't look any different really, I feel it though. 15+0.
