December 2014, anyone else yet?

So I got a stupidly early faint positive today at 9dpo when I should definitely know better after a chemical last month. According to the Calendar I'm due December 1st so I've decided to be massively optimistic and start this thread. Is there anybody put there?

Poor you DesserFox. I hope you can relax and get that BP down. Hopefully it was just a one off.

DessertFox · 14/04/2014 23:07

Thanks polythene here's hoping. I wish i had my own cat to cuddle, snuggles and his purring always used to de-stress me until he fell asleep at night and left white hairs all over my black suit :) he lives with my mum now, i think it may be time to pay a visit

oohdaddypig · 15/04/2014 06:12

I think that that the risk of toxoplasmosis from cats is really low as long as you change the litter daily. You are apparently much more likely to get it from undercooked meat. (I grew up with cats and frequently changed litter and a few years ago tested negative for toxo!)

Is anyone still exercising? I am still doing a bit as it makes me feel better. But I'm only 5weeks so who knows what lies ahead Grin

Welcome and congrats to the newbies.....

ImBrian · 15/04/2014 06:58

Penguin that's great news, so pleased your scan went well Grin

Hello to all the newcomers as well.

I haven't told a soul about being pregnant. I spent yesterday with my parents telling me I'd be an idiot to have another one! My sister is having fertility treatment and asked me to wait till she was pregnant before I start trying! Bit bloody late!

ImBrian · 15/04/2014 07:10

Nearly forgot, is anyone thinking about starting Christmas shopping? With my last dd she was due mid November so I started early and had it all done by October. I'm thinking I need to start sharpish to get all the kids stuff organised to I'm not running about either 9 months pregnant or with a new born!

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 15/04/2014 07:25

ImBrian, DS1 came the 21st of Dec, was a godawful labour and aftertime so can't remember christmas, this will be the first one I think he's aware of so started shopping in January Blush

Not exercising atm Daddypig, but once the first trimester is out the way will do!

Welcome to all the newbies! I need to go nc on that document...

Penguin13 · 15/04/2014 07:32

Thanks I'mBrian. Gosh that must have been an awkward conversation with your family. Last I checked it wasn't anyone's business but yours and your partner's how many children you have!

Am quite glad that my cat is not a big hunter. Over the five years we've had her she and her sister brought in one baby mouse between them. Happy to keep it that way! She seems supremely indifferent to the pg hormones.

Oohdaddypig I'm actually thinking I should up my exercise as a 4 hour round trip on the daily commute has squeezed out taking time to get active.

PunkyPod · 15/04/2014 07:54

Morning!!! I thought I was in serious danger of vomiting when I got into bed last night. Yuck yuck yuck.

With the litter tray cleaning...if I'm the only one who will do it then I'd pull on some gloves and get it over and done with then clean my hands thoroughly. But I reckon if your DH can overcome it that would be preferable. Indeed when he comes up against a poosplosion nappy he'll probably think the litter tray isn't so bad.

Rockstar - TWINS! Amazing. I hope you see stronger hbs at the next scan.

Am on an apple binge already this morning. 2 down and a pack of4 sat next to me at my desk Grin

SassehMonsta · 15/04/2014 07:56

I've yet to go home to my parents and visit my cats for more than just a few mins (took my dad to get his back sorted as he's done it in again) but I miss them! Still got my dog though.

Think I overdid the excercise this weekend as my calves are screaming this morning. I'm just carrying on with my dog walking & stopped my dancing until I'm past 12 weeks/told my MIL so that she can set appropriate alternatives (Hurrah for training in antenatal dance!).

Anyone considering slings over buggies? Again the MIL will be super helpful as she does sling consults & hires from the local sling library. I'm certainly thinking it will be preferable, as husband is up for baby-wearing as well, but will probably still get a pram as well.

Haven't yet considered Christmas shopping it's way too far off for me!! Most stuff we order online and get delivered anyway, usually from the US as they have sooooo much more geeky stuff over there! But I have started working on some nice blankets, learning some nice simple knitting patterns for new ideas. Husband suggested that I start a crochet blanket and add to it each year so by time child is teenager, they have a full bedspread. Love his ideas sometimes!! Blanket I'm currently working on is either for our little-un or for best friend's, depending how many i get fine before I'm bored ;-)

Anyone slightly paranoid they might be having twins? Got this feeling that I can't shake, but no idea why, as this is my first pregnancy. :-/

Penguin13 · 15/04/2014 08:02

Rockstar I'm sorry I had missed your scan news. Twins, how exciting! Seeing the heartbeats is a good sign, fingers crossed they are going strong at your scan on Thursday. Hope the days speed by for you.

ImBrian · 15/04/2014 08:07

Sasseh I occasionally wonder but then I do with every single pregnancy. Any other pregnancy twins would have been great but with this one I don't have room haha. I think most people wonder at some point if there's more then one. It's not that common though if your not having fertility treatment though.

Our family see a third child as an indulgence and totally unnecessary, so that's going to be a fun announcement! Think I might leave them a note and run. No cat but we do have a dog who's looking very moppy at the mo.

chillychicken · 15/04/2014 08:28

poly I don't think anyone has figured it out yet Grin

I'm fed up with people commenting on why I'm not drinking so I bought some Schloer sparkling grape juice, poured it in a flute and placed it on the table with a load of snacks that we enjoyed on Sunday, took a photo and uploaded it to Facebook. I've already had loads of "knew you couldn't last 30 days off the booze" type comments. Grin At least it'll stop the speculating about whether or not I'm pregnant. Have family over for dinner on Sunday and I'm going to do the same then. I'm not lying, I'm drinking fizz! Just non-alcoholic fizz. I bought some 0.5% wine as well but I'm scared to drink that before 12 weeks.

Bit of nausea this morning and boobs really hurt today. Little bit of cramping still but nothing like the previous 2 weeks. Used another pregnancy test today - line no darker than Friday but I think it might now be as dark as it can go.

Has anyone else chosen where they'll give birth yet?
My local hospital has a virtual tour on the website so I spent last night watching that and making notes. I think I've chosen which ward (out of a choice of 6!) I'd like to be on and ideally I want a pool birth after watching OBEM they also have private rooms which look lovely for around £100 a night. I quite fancy the idea of that. Oh and they encourage Mums and babies to go home as soon as poss which is perfect for me as I'd prefer visitors at home rather than in hospital. I think I'll let my Mum visit and I'm in two minds about having her as a second birth partner. I'd been adamant that it'd just be me and DH but I'm starting to wonder if it'll be easier on us if my Mum is there too.

Not exercising much at all at the moment, I really must start. I wanted to have a routine going before I fell pregnant. Whoops.

SassehMonsta · 15/04/2014 08:39

Had a bit of a brain fail this morning and almost gave the dog my multivit and tpok his phenobarb! Caught myself just in time - not sure what pets antiepilepsy meds would do!!

Minion · 15/04/2014 08:40

I love that I come on here and others are awake at silly o clock too! I'm not quite so lonely, managed to fall back asleep for two hours so hopefully won't feel like the walking dead come 2pm.
chilly I have to try and get out of the questions tomorrow as I'm at an all day sales conference with our new products and they like us to try booze... I'm thinking of saying I have a driving test straight after. Hopefully it's believable.
May resort to the pic on FB too, great idea!
Also, not even thought about hospital etc, is it something I should be doing right about now? Is it like school where you have to register your as yet unborn or unthought of child? Jesus. Poor kid, I'll be one of those 'sorry didn't know it was dress down day, well why don't you tell them you went as a boarder from Malory towers' type mother..

PunkyPod · 15/04/2014 08:44

Sasseh we have a pushchair for dd which she has grown to like but I never use it because I'm a sling nut. Started off with a stretchy moby with her from birth and at about 4 months discovered the world of woven wraps. I'm a bit of an addict have have tried many different brands, blends and lengths. It can be an expensive habit! I still carry dd (22 months) 90% of the time and have loved it more and more the older she's got. It's actually been one of my favourite aspects of parenting. My DH also likes carrying her but he prefers mei tai carriers. I've never tried buckles but I think he'd probably get on with them too. I've actually got a new size 6 waiting for me to collect from the post office. Can't wait to get it! I'm such a geek! It's absolutely brill your mil is a sling consultant. You'll be able to try so many and get the best advice. I ended up learning from YouTube and FB groups.

mopsytop · 15/04/2014 08:57

chilli I think you could pretty safely have a glass of 0.5%! I wouldn't be worrying about that. I had a small glass of red on Sunday. I think one small glass once a week can't possibly have any effect on the baby (and NHS guidelines say 1-2 units 1-2 times a week is fine). Whatever you feel comfortable with but with 0.5% wine, one glass simply can't have any effect! I drink alco-free weissbier and the label says not more than 0.5%abv but they have to say that as there may be trace alcohol, but it is actually less than 0.5%. Even orange juice might have 0.1% for example. But it us perfectly fine to drink alco free drinks and not worry about it. I think alco free/low alc wine is grim though. At least any I've tried has been awful. When you get round to trying yours let us know if it is any good. Anyone else found any good ones?

punky I was the same. Felt soooo sick when I lay down last night. Haven't vommed yet but having huge waves of nausea at random times!

chillychicken · 15/04/2014 09:09

mopsy part of the reason I'm uneasy about drinking it yet is incase it's actually awful Grin

I'm sure it'll be fine to drink. I actually need to fancy it as well though and the thought of wine at the moment turns my stomach.

minion The midwife asked me which hospital I wanted to give birth in when she phoned yesterday. I was a bit like "err...the local one? I guess?" so did a bit of research incase I'd made the wrong choice!

I am pretty much in the middle of two major hospitals and numerous birthing centres though so that might be why she wanted to know.

Ladylel · 15/04/2014 10:13

vicky5910 I wouldn't be surprised if I'm lacking protein tbh. I have also have a thing for ready salted too :s trying to keep in mind a balanced diet where I can.
Anyone have any views on protein shakes for pregnant ladies?

PolytheneGirl · 15/04/2014 10:15

Morning ladies. You are very chatty today. I never get chance to MN first thing as it's chaos in our house!

I was only thinking about christmas shopping last night but I think it might have to wait until after DS birthday in the summer. I'm pretty sure I'll be having this baby early though, so it may be a November baby, who knows?

I feel pretty sick this morning. I'm hoping it passes. I'm not looking forward to 8wks of feeling like this.

In other news my SIL told me on Saturday that she is ttc again and now I'm feeling guilty for not saying anything to her but it really is too early. We were both pg at the same time with DS1s and she announced early (7wks) when I had just found out (4wks) and she went mad that I didn't tell her straight away. She actually really fell out with me over it. This could be tricky!

SassehMonsta · 15/04/2014 10:18

Also feeling queasy this morning. Went out last night with husband, friend and her husband, which was lovely :) Her bloke commented it was really nice that we are going through all this at the same time (our due dates are within a couple of weeks of each other) :) Was nice to get out, me and husband don't tend to socialise together as he's an introvert and Im totally not!

Work will be frustrating today, I can tell already, and I've only been here for 15 mins so far!

PunkyPod · 15/04/2014 10:23

Someone has done something unmentionable in the work bogs. I'm still retching at my desk. Seriously....! Angry

PresidentSpreadable · 15/04/2014 11:01

Nope, ImBrian, I haven't given a single thought to Christmas shopping! If anything, this is the perfect excuse to just give everyone vouchers or do everything online!

Quite relieved our cat doesn't use a litter tray anymore, last time, we'd only had him a week when we got our bfp and it was grim, I was so paranoid about it. He is being very sweet and attentive this week, hate to think how jealous he'll be with a baby.

PolytheneGirl · 15/04/2014 11:03

Oh no Punky!!

mopsytop · 15/04/2014 11:11

We don't do masses of Christmas pressies (thank goodness) I'mBrian so don't need to stress it. With my family we do Christkindl - we each buy one present for one other member of the family worth no more than 50 euro. And we only take part if we will be home for Christmas. Then we just buy my MIL and BIL and my husband's grandmother a present. So it is pretty easy. We obvs get something for each other and our first child but don't go overboard at all. We decided to change to Christkindl in my family several years ago as I've a v large family and once we started getting married it was getting ridiculous. We all work and can buy what we want/need so it seemed more sensible to limit it to one present/50 euro so we still have the fun of exchanging presents but no stress/hassle. Plus only my parents buy a Christmas presents for the grandkids (my nieces/nephews) and I am my siblings do not. For our niece/nephews' birthdays we put in a tenner each and buy one present for 60 euro. Children are happy with that and it really saves on hassle and also stops the present giving getting out of hand.
