So I got a stupidly early faint positive today at 9dpo when I should definitely know better after a chemical last month. According to the Calendar I'm due December 1st so I've decided to be massively optimistic and start this thread. Is there anybody put there?

I've had my first proper, proper, proper waves of nausea this morning. I'm 4+6 today. Boobs fine when in a bra but I could cry when I take my bra off. Cramping not as bad today. Used another IC last night and a strong line came up straight away so I'm happy with that.

I'm wondering about an early scan now. I can have one for £65 reasonably local to me. I'd like to tell my DSIL early and ideally I want to know everything is ok first. DHs concern is what if it shows something is wrong? Will a doctor believe me?

I'm really grumpy at the moment. I think it's because I'm so tired. Sleeping through the night but I'm constantly knackered. I never realised just how much early pregnancy would sap out of you. My nails are in a terrible state (very unusual), my hair is lank and I look drained. I've started drinking more water and more milk in an attempt to pick myself up a bit. I must try to get to the greengrocers tonight for some fruit. It's beginning to sink in a bit now. Smile

SassehMonsta · 09/04/2014 12:17

I'm tempted by an early scan, would 7 weeks be too early? I can get scan plus 2 pictures for £50 locally. Best friend is having an early one, and actually on the day i was thinking about but she'll be about 9 weeks then. Just have to convince husband that it'll be worth it at that point. Also kind of scared to book it in as what if i don't make it that far?! At least 7 weeks there should be a heartbeat right?

Today I've felt queasy to begin with, perked up with multivitamins and some food, but driving is sending me heaving. Spent the morning with best friend browsing maternity stores etc. Husbands may not be impressed.... lol! Looking like a right mess as i can't stand the thought of being in the bath, and we don't have a shower, so contemplating invading my mum's house while they are all at work....

rockstars12 · 09/04/2014 12:36

martie I have ibs and have the same issue. I feel cramps all the time and it generally turns out just to be my bowels doing odd things, though i do panic about it alot. Mine also gets worse with stress. So far I haven't really had constipation as I've been eating loads of veg and drinking plenty of fluids.

PunkyPod · 09/04/2014 12:53

As much as I'd love an early scan, even a scan every week to see the little spud, I'm just going to stick to the standard ones. It's an expense we can't justify right now...

If you go for one at 7 weeks you should see a heart beat, 9 weeks even better. With dd I had to have a dating scan which was at about 9 weeks. It was a kidney bean shape with a few sort of buds coming off it and a heard beat. 3 weeks later she was a formed human! It is a miracle!

I have my scan through Grin 22nd May! I'll be about 12+4.

Oh and yes (sorry I can't remember who mentioned it) feeling sick is reassuring. But urghhhh!

SassehMonsta · 09/04/2014 13:22

Oof, just realized the really early scans are some using a transvaginal transducer- not entirely sure I'm up for sticking a probe up there! Home for a nap is really helping :-)

Shanels · 09/04/2014 14:52

Hi all
I went to my GP today and she said I could do an early scan for free in our local Early maternity section in the hospital which is just walk in centre. However, she said that they discourage it because even if the scan were good, it doesn't mean the 12 week will be fine. I was slightly persuaded but might change my mind next week. Ladies, check if you have one in your local hospitals so you don't have to pay.
She also said that the fact that I have very few symptoms means nothing and everyone is different.
So my plan is to try and remain positive but weary and try not to get anxious too much. I've just been given antibiotics for a chest infection so the aim is to heal and let the baby grow. Well I'll try.
Good luck to all!

ImBrian · 09/04/2014 14:54

Sas my friend had a scan at just over 7 weeks and it didn't have to be internal. I'm holding out to 8 weeks for mine, if you see a heart beat the chance of a successful pregnancy is something like 97%. If it is an internal scan then tbh they're fine, not uncomfortable and you're going to have people doing all sorts to you in several months so may as we'll start getting used to it now haha.

Shanels · 09/04/2014 15:20

Oh ImBrian if that's the case and all is well in 2 weeks, I'll wait for the 8 week scan too. Thank you for the advice.

BobaFetaCheese · 09/04/2014 15:36

My 7wk scan wasn't with a dildocam, it was a blobby bit with a heartbeat blob. I'll be doing either a 7 or 8 week scan, once I get the 3+ on my digis.
Sasseh, it's not what's going in there...it's what's coming out in 8 months or so Grin

chilly, most GP's wont bother with a pg test when you tell them so will believe you if you have a mc.
The only mc I've been to the GP about started just after my booking appointment (literally, as I walked home!) so they had me on the system then...

ImBrian · 09/04/2014 15:54

I double checked and it's 98% at 8 weeks and 99% at 10 weeks.

chillychicken · 09/04/2014 16:08

I'm completely torn on having an early scan. I've been googling and my mind still isn't made up! Gah!

I think if we're going to tell DSIL then yes, I'll go for an early scan, otherwise I'll wait.

Mind you, I don't think I'm seeing the midwife until 9 weeks so another 3 weeks won't feel like a long time to wait! I'm actually just wanting the midwife to call with a date for my booking in appointment, at least then it'll really start to feel real!

Martie1 · 09/04/2014 17:38

Ooooh i like those percentages imbrian very reassuring, thank you.

im a bit ticked off, because i posted something on the main pregnancy board about telling family and have been getting some plain nasty comments. Some people were great and have given me wonderful insight, others are just plain horrible. what is wrong with people!?

ImBrian · 09/04/2014 17:42

Just take it with a pinch of salt, it's just like real life. There will always be someone you don't get on with.

Gosh, you lot have been busy. Couldn't keep up today, had a boring seminar all morning, the girl covering my colleague maternity leave was off sick with nausea Hmm. I am an emotional reck, went home to find the IC and I can't pee.

Shanel I hope the perception change is a positive one. Give me a shout on your next trip to CG.

Boba, what comes out in 8 months, lol thanks for that, you made me laugh Smile

Sorry to all of you having a hard time with MS, remember it's all for a good cause.

PunkyPod · 09/04/2014 18:35

Hehe, I walk through covent garden every day. I work in Holborn Smile

ParanoidCoventGarden75 · 09/04/2014 19:18

Hehe Punky maybe we're walking past each other every day then, i walk through Covent Garden to go to work in Piccadilly.

After 1h1/2 sitting on the loo, I did it, hurray. IC is strong positive. Please please please body, show me a sign everything is going according to plan inside, I am begging on my knees, please. Or is being an emotional wreck the clue?

chillychicken · 10/04/2014 08:07

I think being an emotional wreck is a clue paranoid Grin

I'm 5 weeks today. The one issue with finding out so early, is time really, really drags!

I have one slight worry. I work with chemicals. Toulene to be precise. It can potentially harm the unborn baby. We have halved the use of toulene here over the last 6 months and I actually haven't directly worked with it for 2-3 months now, but it's used in the building I work in on a daily basis. I've read the guidance on it and it can cause premature birth, stillborn, craniofacial abnormalities as well as cardiac, limb, renal and central nervous system problems. We ventilate the building well and there are 2 access doors between me and the area the toulene is used but it does still hold a risk. I'm actually bloody terrified now. Further on through the pregnancy, I will be able to work from home on days of high toulene use. I'm just worried about these early stages. Should I mention this to the midwife?

mopsytop · 10/04/2014 08:10

I'd mention it to the midwife asap chilli, and is there a HR person you can talk to at work? I'd do this sooner rather than later to ensure you avoid all risk.

chillychicken · 10/04/2014 08:18

mopsy It's a small business that I run with my husband so no, no HR. I will mention it to the midwife when she calls.

chillychicken · 10/04/2014 08:18

Toluene not toulene, FFS! I'm always doing that!

ParanoidCoventGarden75 · 10/04/2014 08:54

chilli defo speak to mw. And work from home as much as possible. You don't want to take any risk.

chillychicken · 10/04/2014 09:16

I will paranoid DH is being fab - he's refusing to let me near any of the chemicals and has been working with the main doors open. The entrance to the shop area is open and my office door (just off the shop) is closed. He's also rigged up a self close system on the door from the shop to the workshop this morning. We haven't told staff yet and they have a habit of leaving the door open. I only need to go into the workshop to use the loo.

This is the report I've read:

SassehMonsta · 10/04/2014 10:46

Decided this morning to tell my sister, as I realised she's not coming home again until end of June/early July, plus, she's a scientist kinda lady and knows all sorts of stuff about embryos etc! Sent her a text telling her that I if all goes well, I may have a bump for her graduation (July!) and she called back and we had a nice chat on my way to work. :) Glad to have told her, and I know she won't spread it around (particularly to the parents!) Grin she already quizzed me about have I checked what I can and can't eat, and things like that as well! Agreed with me not to tell parents until confirmed etc later on. Phew.

MS has dropped off a bit now that I have more food in my system. Yesterday managed beans on toast with mushrooms while out in town with my friend, and then vegan schnitzels for dinner (but stomach didn't like roast potatoes/sweet potatoes!).

chilly, yes I'd talk to the mw about it - I have the option to not walk through or past the chemical stores here, luckily! They use allsorts in the R&D building, but shouldn't be any danger in this building.

Not really too worried by the dildocam (thanks boba! got a good laugh out of me!) or whats coming soon, just unsure if I want it. Husband said I can go ahead and book it if I want. He also wasn't telling people until after mw appointment, as he thought it was 14th April - no, it's not till the 12th of May! Idiot booked wrong day off work.....! Men!! Agreed to tell his mum & step-dad at her birthday meal on the 26th, which is a lot closer and more manageable!

Hope everyone doing OK today :)

EmilyPinkOrBlue · 10/04/2014 13:15

Hi ladies haven't posted for a few days as have had lots going on good and bad! I am feeling so lonely today :( I'm 6 weeks today and I can't tell anyone about it feel so sad and like I am lying to people by having to come up with stories etc. Anyone else feel like this? I've also been so teary and bawled my eyes out on quite a few occasions like the whole world is crumbling! I go from really wanting this baby and feeling it's the right time to omg how am I going to deal with this life is so up in the air etc
