oh....and it lasted for two or three days I think!

chillychicken · 15/05/2014 09:47

Really, really, really unimpressed.

I had my midwife appointment at 7+5. I'm now 10+1 and no scan date yet. DH has been nagging me for a week to call and find out what's going on but I didn't like to chase. Today I need to know because I need to book a work trip abroad and I don't want the dates to clash so I call the hospital.

They haven't had a referral from my midwife.

Angry

I'm now waiting a call back from the antenatal department after they've worked out what the hell has happened.

lindamagoo · 15/05/2014 09:59

Oh chilly I'd be fuming, phone your mw and ask what's going on?

Poly have you spoke to your mw about the spotting?

Treaclepie19 · 15/05/2014 10:12

Thanks Mel :)
Nice to hear you say that haha I feel incredibly guilty about not being at work. Considering not going tomorrow either though. Starting to feel more normal being at home. Only problem is I have a concert tonight and my bday meal tomorrow night. I'm not cancelling them but feel a bit worried I might see people from work.

Chilly that's terrible, I hope they can sort it for you.

chillychicken · 15/05/2014 11:06

Scan booked for 2nd June Grin I'll be 12+5. Slightly annoying that they couldn't do it the week before...I'm out with friends on the 30th and family on the 31st and it'd be nice to tell them but never mind, I'm just thrilled it's booked and it doesn't actually interfere with my work trip Grin

Treaclepie19 · 15/05/2014 11:34

Glad it's booked chilly :)

PolytheneGirl · 15/05/2014 11:51

Well done Chilly!

I haven't had chance to call the mw yet as I've been dealing with DS who has seen the GP and has a nasty chest infection. Poor thing. Plus I'm looking after my friend's little boy so it's a bit chaotic.

I haven't had anymore bleeding since last night, wore a pad to bed and it was completely clean this morning and my stomach cramp has passed. Do you think I should still call or just wait and see?

I just wish my hospital appointment would come through. Once I have my first appointment they will see me every one to two weeks. I think I'm going to give them a call this afternoon.

Zermatt · 15/05/2014 11:51

Hope you're ok today treacle, I think it was a good call not to go into work, good to just relax as much as you can.

My pregnancy app was telling me all about the mucus plug on my way into work on the bus this morning, which was nice.

Zermatt · 15/05/2014 11:54

Poly, I would probably still go to the doctor, just because I am a worry wort and would want to see what they say. My best friend had red blood spotting throughout her whole pregnancy, so it can be entirely normal, but if you are worried always good to speak to a professional and see what they think.

lindamagoo · 15/05/2014 11:54

Poly just call to put your mind at ease. I'm glad it's stopped now, must be very scary.

chillychicken · 15/05/2014 11:57

Thanks! Grin I'm proud of myself for not wimping out. Although if I'd called them earlier I might have got an earlier appointment. Doh. Ah well!

Poly, if you're a bit worried I would call. There's no harm in calling x

Treaclepie19 · 15/05/2014 12:12

Thanks zermatt, I'm thinking just leave it this week and go back Monday.
Do you think that's a bad idea because of my birthday meal tomorrow night?
I work close to where I live and the restaurant is right in the middle.

Poly, always good to put your mind at rest.

sazzlehopes · 15/05/2014 12:26

So sorry to hear you ladies that are having brown discharge and are having to worry so much. Fingers crossed that things settle down for you all soon Thanks

PolytheneGirl · 15/05/2014 13:21

I just rang the hospital and they said they didn't receive a referral from my GP, which I saw him do on 1/5, and had only received one on Friday from the community midwife. The woman on the phone was completely unhelpful and said they won't see me until my 12 wk scan. I tried explaining to her why my GP had sent an "URGENT" referral and that I needed to be seen ASAP but she was having none of it. I told her that in my last pg I was seen in clinic well before 12 wks and she said "not at this hospital you weren't" like I was making it up.

I am so angry I feel like storming over there and dragging the cow over her desk by her hair!!

My GP's receptionist won't let me speak to my GP and I can't get an appointment to see him for about 2 wks!

Banging my head off a brick wall here!!

lindamagoo · 15/05/2014 13:25

Bloody hell Poly that is ridiculous, she should be going out of her way to help you, what a bitch, I'd be mad too. Can you not phone the midwife and ask her to contact them for you?

Treaclepie19 · 15/05/2014 13:25

Oh Poly, I can get emergency appointments with my gp the same day if I ring as soon as they open. Do your surgery do that?

I can't believe how unhelpful they're being!

PolytheneGirl · 15/05/2014 13:37

I've left my mw a voicemail. Hoping she'll call me back.

I rang this morning to get an emergency appointment for me and DS but they only had one and DS was more important. DH had to take him as I was still waiting for my friend to drop her son off, she was an hour late and really pissed me off too. Will try again tomorrow!

I really wish we could afford private healthcare!

Spotti · 15/05/2014 14:35

Hey ladies, just a quickie from a lurker who longs to join you all soon.

Was just watching Big Bang Theory and learnt something really interesting from Sheldon. Apparently, if you are feeling nauseated, anything [food] with a high starch content will help to ease the feeling by absorbing the amount of fluid available and therefore reducing the amount of potential vomit produced.

Obviously, I was thinking re:morning sickness (I've seen a few of you mention crackers and dry toast) - the less 'stuff' there is in there, the less 'stuff' there is to come out again - and because I'm completely normal I instantly thought of you lot!

So yeah, I'll tootle back off to the bus now. Just thought it might be of interest to other science geeks like me Wink

Treaclepie19 · 15/05/2014 16:29

Haha thanks spotti! I love Big Bang Theory :)
Hope you're doing ok?

Am I being really selfish not going to work tomorrow? Bleugh.

fancyacupoftea · 15/05/2014 18:12

No of course not Treacle. If you can't work you can't work. What are they like though? Will they insist on a doctors note or anything?

That's interesting Spotti! Thanks for that! Hope to see you over her for good soon!

I've been mainlining Cheddars today (as in big mini cheddars). THEY ARE THE HOLY GRAIL OF FOODS FOR PREGGOS.

fancyacupoftea · 15/05/2014 18:13

After marmite toast

Spotti · 15/05/2014 18:14

I'm fine thanks Treacle, just bored of not being pregnant! This 2ww that is 18 frickin' days long is going sooooo slowly.

BORED!

At least you lot keep me entertained :)

tootles back off to the May bus, but casually leaves 'something' behind as an excuse to come back here Wink

fancyacupoftea · 15/05/2014 18:14

And FFS Poly wtf was your doctor playing at? Surely you had to be seen urgently because of last time?! That person on the phone sounds like a right dick. Send me her address, I'll sort her out.

fancyacupoftea · 15/05/2014 18:14

"Leaves something"? Did you fart then walk away?

MelMc73 · 15/05/2014 18:18

Bloody hell chilly and poly yjet nhs are doing a shit job today. Glad you both got it sorted eventually though!
