Congrats Linda, hurrah for the growing penis Dragon antenatal bus :)

I've had really bad nausea since Friday, I'm 6 + 3 today. Yesterday I made the unpleasant mistake of ordering scrambled eggs when we went out for brekkie, won't be doing that again! I've found it's worse in the afternoon, and I prefer plain food rather than anything too saucy or greasy, so am going to stock up on some digestive biccies to nibble on. I've also bought so mylanta tablets which are antacids (and safe if preggers) and they actually help a bit, am also wearing the seasickness bands which defo alleviate it a bit, but won't be able to get away with wearing them to work tomorrow. :(

Poly so sorry to hear about your eyesight problems, it must be so scary for you, I completely concur with everyone else's advice that you should tell your mum if that would help comfort you and give you someone to bounce your fears off.

MademoiselleG I have told a few peeps, my folks, sister, 2 of my best mates in Oz and my best friend at home, so glad I did as easier not to pretend and lovely to have the support and bit of advice here and there, defo no rules about when to tell people, do whatever is best for you.

lindamagoo · 04/05/2014 07:23

Woke up very early this morning totally freaking out at the fact I'm going to be 43 this month and by January I'll be a mum of 3 kids under 6. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Grin

MademoiselleG · 04/05/2014 07:56

And you will be great at it, Linda!

We had 2 pregnancy announcements in the end last night: our friends are expecting in November! Felt very special. And we know that, should anything happen, they are the people we would turn to for support.

Hurray for the appointment Poly! How is your vision today?

Terrible cramping over here, not painful though, just feels a little like braxton hicks at the time, IYKWIM? Definitely a lot going on down there.

A question I've already asked on another thread I think: would you guys go for promotion at work knowing you're pregnant? It would only be coming into effect in September and I am planning on going in mat leave earlier than last time, prob around 32-35 weeks (had Sciatica and couldn't walk, was awful) which would be November. I'd really be shafting work if I did this...and the other alternative is back to 3 days without responsibility. Would be tougher financially but we've done it before and it was blissful. Is anyone else in a similar position, or has been?

Happy Sunday all Grin

Treaclepie19 · 04/05/2014 08:24

I did something stupid. I tested with a digi again to see if it had increased from 2-3 and it hasn't :/ I'd be 28dpo today.

mademoiselle I think of you really want the job then go for it. Don't worry about work, they will manage.

Treaclepie19 · 04/05/2014 08:53

*If

MademoiselleG · 04/05/2014 09:27

Treacle don't worry, these tests are notoriously fussy. You're still definitely preggers so I'd say: all good!

Treaclepie19 · 04/05/2014 09:28

Yeah, I knew I shouldn't have done it.
DH says next pregnancy whenever that is no testing for me :p

fancyacupoftea · 04/05/2014 09:44

mademoiselle I'd think about going back to work. If you would be happy with the extra responsibility with a baby at home then definitely go for it!

treacle I'm sure it's fine, they can't be exact I expect!

As for me, I'm becoming a loon. I panicked when I had cramps and I've woken up today cramp free now convinced something's wrong because I feel fine! Is this stupid?

Tilly28 · 04/05/2014 09:54

Haha! That's exactly like me fancy one minute I'm panicking because of lack of symptoms and next minute panicking because of symptoms :-)

treacle I'm sure it will be fine!

I'm counting down the days until my private scan! :-)

fancyacupoftea · 04/05/2014 09:57

Thank god it's not just me tilly! I feel better now.

5+2 today.

MademoiselleG · 04/05/2014 10:07

Fancy: I am back at work. Currently acting HOD on 5 days a week and exhausted / overworked. Have the possibility of going for 2nd in charge, would still be 5 days, just not sure I can be that bothered and some colleagues are very toxic, therefore feel I'd be better off just focusing on family next year and coming back to career at a later stage... I'm just feeling a little apprehensive I guess, as I know exactly how I felt last time working full time in a very full on place, over 55hrs/week on average and no time to breathe.
Will probably book an early scan privately and if all seems well, make a decision based on that.

I am 5+1 today and just like you Fancy, panicking about symptoms or lack thereof every minute. Most recent symptom is the Bloodhound Nose. I KNOW something is off in the fridge, despite DH claiming her can;t smell it. I just KNOW!

fancyacupoftea · 04/05/2014 10:48

Oh sorry I didn't mean going back to work this time, I meant after going on mat leave next time. I say go for the job if it's what you want and you can always step down if it gets too much. Nobody will judge you because you'd have 2 young kids at home!

I have two positions at school - HoD and another smaller one. I'm quitting the smaller one in a couple of weeks as I know it will be too much when 6-9 months pg and definitely won't be able to when I go back to work.

Speaking of work, can I ask everyone when they are going t

fancyacupoftea · 04/05/2014 10:49

Oops sausage fingers.

...when they are going to tell their bosses?

CallingAllEngels · 04/05/2014 11:07

mademoiselle in the circumstances you describe I wouldn't go for it. I'm a teacher too and haven't applied for some opportunities I might have done, had I not had DS. I work 3 days and have chosen not to take on extra responsibilities at work besides my regular classroom teaching and the Christmas show (which I will miss this year).

Perhaps in a few years I will have a look again at how many days I work and what opportunities come up, but in the meantime I'm okay with part time.

fancy I wasn't planning telling work until I've had my scan at 10 weeks, but of course if I feel very unwell and it's affecting work, then I may have to tell earlier. There may be issues with the planning for next year as well, so I may end up telling my departments and headteacher before I'd like to.

treacle I think the digital tests are notorious for freaking people out. Step away from the tests!

6w today!

LulusMiniEgg · 04/05/2014 11:10

I already told my boss, she is also pregnant and had encouraged me to start ttc when I got married as it took her 6 years, so knew it was on the cards.
She was absolutely delighted for me and it's nice to have someone to talk to as dh is in complete denial still.... Grrrrrr xxx

Treaclepie19 · 04/05/2014 11:16

You've been busy on here :)
I have stepped away from the tests... :)

I've already told my head as I've needed time off to go for my scan and blood tests.

Off to a bbq today with family and friends. My excuse is "I'm driving as I drank too much yesterday and we're going out early tomorrow for the bank holiday"... Eek.

LulusMiniEgg · 04/05/2014 11:16

Sorry just realised I have never posted on this board before-just been lurking on the conception board whilst ttc and now I have my BFP lurking on here!

Stats, dc1, age 30, 5+2, EDD 2nd Jan

CallingAllEngels · 04/05/2014 11:18

Good excuse treacle - I'd buy it Grin

Treaclepie19 · 04/05/2014 11:23

Hi lulu :)

Haha thanks calling :) now I just have to think of a different excuse (same people) for the next two weeks!!!

Zermatt · 04/05/2014 11:51

I'm in a tricky situation at work, I'm waiting to be made permanent (been there for 4 years on various fixed term contracts) they have said they are going to make me permanent in next couple of months, so am hoping they do so before I hit 12 weeks as am going to feel bad if they make me perm and then I'm like btw I'm 16 weeks preggo. Need permanency bad as won't get maternity without it...

fancyacupoftea · 04/05/2014 12:02

I want to wait for as long as possible before 'the masses' at school find out but think I might have to tell the head in as little as 1-2 weeks. I'm really panicked they won't be able to find a replacement if I leave it too late, and as it's my dept I feel very protective of it! Good teachers in my subject can be hard to find so leaving it until sept might not work. Just have to fess up to the boss I suppose!

Zermatt · 04/05/2014 12:09

Can you tell just the head and ask that they keep it to themselves for another 8 weeks Fancy? That way you're doing right by the school and allowing them to plan without having to make it public just yet?

fancyacupoftea · 04/05/2014 12:29

Yeah I will do zermatt, I just hope people don't get suspicious if they rush to make contingency plans!

Treaclepie19 · 04/05/2014 12:36

Try not to worry fancy, that'd another reason why I told my head. I didn't want her to put me in a sats year or anything and then have to get cover for it.
They will sort it discreetly :)

MademoiselleG · 04/05/2014 12:57

Ha! I'm having to sort out time tabling next week...I really think I should tell at least my line manager. Eeek! One day I want it, one day I don't. There is another person going for it internally and I think she'd be ok. Not v experienced but she'd cope AND is most certainly not going to get pg any time soon...

I'll see what the job description says next week and go for a reassurance scan before I decide either way.

Fancy, could someone do it internally in your dptmt?
