WELCOME! Thanks This thread is for all Mums-to-be expecting Maybies babies in (and around) May 2014! Please come and join the fun.

Put your feet up, get yourself a (decaf?) cuppa Brew and settle in to hear the aches and pains, trials and tribulations, shopping excitement and hospital bag woes of those in their third trimester.

Hopefully you'll find a listening ear and a wealth of knowledge. Everyone welcome, especially if you're new to MN and are just peeking in as you start your maternity leave.

If you'd like to mark your place perhaps you could tell us who you are and how long you've got to go!

Happy chatting Maybies!

Good morning everyone! Start of another week & that wee bit closer to us all meeting our wee ones! Smile

I haven't been on MN much in the last week as it was a bit of a hectic one with work & too tired & emotions running riot at night! Confused This is my last week of work though!

I hope everyone is doing ok?

I have an appointment with the consultant this morning to talk about the OC & make a plan! I'm nervous/excited as there has been plenty talk of induction at 37/38 weeks, that's only 2/3 weeks away! Shock

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 24/03/2014 08:45

Morning everyone :)

just woken up to a cuppa in bed and the sun is shining :)

35 weeks and having strong Braxton hicks a lot, as well as period pains this morning. Baby is still wriggling though so all is good. TMI but think I may have started losing my plug, but I know it can regenerate itself :)

Isean · 24/03/2014 08:53

I hope you had a lovely first night in your new place Moomin! Smile
Hope you weren't over-doing things & suffering for it this morning. I started to lose my plug a few weeks ago, but it settled down. MW did give me an internal & could see where it was coming away, but my cervix was closed & all looked fine.

MasterFlea · 24/03/2014 09:15

BH are coming more often for me too. And yes to the sore lower back too. That just started over the weekend. Part of the BH for me so I'm lucky that it goes away quickly.

I think DTD is fine if you feel like it. I've been able for it lately but after DH being a DickHead yesterday, it'll be a while before I'm in the mood. He apologised this morning and realised yesterday he was in the wrong.

Bush that sounds so idlylic. Must be so relaxing.

NannyPlumForPM · 24/03/2014 09:45

Mmmm that sounds wonderful bush !! I am still in pj's, gobbling up my toast whilst watching children's tv and contemplating the washing up! haha, wish I was there Grin

I am not sure if it'll bother regenerate itself if your this close moomin ? It can go a couple of wks before birth and everything's fine so I wouldn't worry too much (easier said than done Smile )

Welcome mama nice to have you!

Well I'm off hopefully to enjoy a beautiful day. I also have a hospital bag to pack LTT , I think the longer I leave it the more it tempts baby out :)

randdom · 24/03/2014 11:44

Ikea shop today. Just preparing myself for the long waddle round with a doughnut!

Isean · 24/03/2014 12:05

So it's looking like baby Isean will be with us within the next 4 weeks! The consultant wants to induce me at 38 weeks (week beginning 14th April) and will probably give me a date when I see him again on Thursday! Eeks! This is all providing everything remains stable over the next couple of weeks. My BP is going up every check and there was protein in my urine today, so hoping it's nothing major!

MrsFooCough · 24/03/2014 12:07

Wheeeee isean that's exciting!!!!

MrsFooCough · 24/03/2014 12:08

After a fasting bG result of 6.7 this morning I'm feeling virtuous but naughty - mid morning snack can be a third of a doughnut and a boiled egg can't it? serious doughnut envy

NannyPlumForPM · 24/03/2014 12:23

Foo I ate 3/4 a tub of Ben and Jerry's last night- fasting sugar was 5.7 this mornin Hmm interestingly I had a my flurry a week ago with a McDonald's hamburger for lunch and sugar was only 5.9 1 hr after? Very odd... WeetBix however (2 with a little semi skimmed milk) sent it to 8.6 so I don't bloody understand!!!

Bornin1984 · 24/03/2014 12:24

Always find cereals no matter what one sends my sugars high

impatientlywaiting · 24/03/2014 12:47

Eek how exciting Isean. You will be snuggling your little baby so soon!

dobedobedo · 24/03/2014 12:56

Oooh I've had a bit of a show today too! How exciting/disgusting!! Grin

I'm also finding it much easier to walk without feeling like my hips are about to split in two - baby must have his head well and truly down.

Work is mental busy today though. Could do with a nap! And eveyrone in the office is saying how cold they are and putting on the heating on. I'm sitting at my desk, in a sleeveless top with a fan on my face, sweating!

dobedobedo · 24/03/2014 12:57

isean that is so exciting!

Bornin1984 · 24/03/2014 13:02

Four weeks tomorrow and mini me be here :-)

MrsFooCough · 24/03/2014 13:46

Wheeeee all the babies are making themselves known in one way or another it seems Grin

LongTailedTit · 24/03/2014 14:09

Afternoon!
My bag packing didn't get finished - quelle surprise!
Half the things I need to pack for me are things in constant use, and the rest I still need to locate or buy. Grrrr. Will just have to print out a big list for DH and make sure I start keeping them all in visible places.
The baby stuff is nearly done tho, just need to find the rest of our preemie/newborn clothes that I put away in a 'safe place' after DS. So safe I can't find them anywhere...

MrsFooCough · 24/03/2014 16:22

Oh hospital bags - I'm waiting until we see Bean again on the scan on Wednesday to pack my bag. Dunno how big he/she is going to be, whether they're going to induce me or not, and when they might induce, therefore no idea of predicted birth weight (which I know isn't exactly an exact science anyway...) or how long I might be in for!
We have some newborn size sleepsuits&babygros, and some 0-3mths size - I doubt we'll need any smaller than newborn, even if he/she's a bit small - DH and I were both 8.5lbs at least at 40wks+7days, so Bean's on track for that at LEAST at due date! I'm assuming with the GD that he/she will be a pound or so heavier at EDD so maybe 7lbs at 38wks if they induce then?

Anyway, after my mid morning snack of a boiled egg and 1/3rd of a jam doughnut, my sugar level was 5.7 just before lunch! I must be doing something right with this extra protein I'm having! ~buys ALL THE SMOKED SALMON AND EGGS AND BACON~

dobedobedo · 24/03/2014 16:44

I was just wondering about predicted birth weight mrsfoo

I am not getting a growth scan, unless something shows up as wrong at some point. I remember having one with ds and they told me he was going to be a 9lber, but this time, I'm just assuming that this baby will be at least the same weight ds was (8lbs 7oz) so the only clothes I've bought are 0-3 months! If this baby comes early, dh will be dispatched to tesco to get some newborn size or smaller before I start to push (I hope!)

I'm not even bothering packing the baby bag until pretty much term because if I do go early, I'll probably need smaller stuff!

bushprincess · 24/03/2014 17:14

wow Isean thats exciting!! are you, bornin and moomin all lined up to take the second baby of the thread spot?!! I hope all is ok with the protein and bp though...

ltt haha - well you had the right intention at least!!

will be interesting to hear what they say at your scan mrsfoo.. glad to hear your managing your blood sugar too - good luck staying off the insulin!

been pretty unproductive today trying to decide on a sling and ordering winter sleep-bags (realised that once we get the bush baby back to zim it will be winter - which is sunny but COLD - and our house has no heating or insulation...eek!!) - completely daft things to do though as MUST GET REPORT FINISHED BEFORE BABY COMES!!

Masterflea and nanny, when I stop and appreciate it Zim is an amazing place and we're so lucky to be here... its just a shame that the country is so...um... shall we say.... mismanaged!

hope everyone has a good eve xx

sambababy · 24/03/2014 17:17

Hi ladies! I'm back from a lovely much-needed weekend away doing nothing and eating lots of naughty food. If the baby isn't fatter at the next scan, I certainly will be.

isean & bornin that's so exciting that your babies will be here in 4wks! That's so soon.

moomin how was it to wake up in your own place? Did you leave your housemate a bowl to remember you by? Wink

I will have to do some detective work to see if brazilians do the nipple sunbathing. Hmm realises I sound like some kind of lesbian stalker and now has inspector gadget theme tune on the brain I don't know anyone with children here well enough to ask about their nipples!

Wishing you all a good week!

Bornin1984 · 24/03/2014 17:20

Do we think we should maybe have sweep stake to see who's baby is next? I'm sure somebody has already suggested it?

Rigbyroo · 24/03/2014 17:21

Thanks all for replies. As far as I can work out they can't force me to take maternity until 36 weeks which is when I'm starting anyway. Nothing from them to see how I am, just subtle messages that I'm costing them a lot in supply money!
Still in pain when moving about, seeing doctor tomorrow so Hoping he will sign me off for week as midwife can't. Sorry for such a selfish post, I'm rubbish at reading through everything.

Rigbyroo · 24/03/2014 17:23

Moomin for next baby!
Hope you are all settled in your new home x

Rigbyroo · 24/03/2014 17:24

Those of you who have had growth scans, what was it that prompted these? Midwife says baby a little small, checking me again this week.
