WELCOME! Thanks This thread is for all Mums-to-be expecting Maybies babies in (and around) May 2014! Please come and join the fun.

Put your feet up, get yourself a (decaf?) cuppa Brew and settle in to hear the aches and pains, trials and tribulations, shopping excitement and hospital bag woes of those in their third trimester.

Hopefully you'll find a listening ear and a wealth of knowledge. Everyone welcome, especially if you're new to MN and are just peeking in as you start your maternity leave.

Welcome back bush, super jealous of wallowing in warm water with ice cream.,,,I've just got out of the bath with DS driving fire engines 'up the baby', it's not really the same!

I'm shattered, deep in your bones tired where you sometimes need a little cry. No mat leave for me until 10th April, if I make it that far, counting down the hours. Another charity bake off today at work did make it a little more bearable.....

So pleased for you Moomin, must be wonderful to know you've got your own place sorted just in time for your new little family.

Rusty, must have been terrifying, same happened to me a few years ago and I'll never forget that massive impact and the utter shock of it all, much much worse being pregnant of course. Do watch out for neck and back pain, I suffered for ages afterwards.

loopylou52 · 19/03/2014 19:57

Welcome back bush, sounds fab!

So sorry to hear about the accident rushy - must have been scary.

Good news on flat and successful appointment moomin, and also for you bornin getting your elcs date.

Sorry not to name check anyone else - I have read everything, just crap at remembering who said what. I'm feeling rough tonight so missing yoga in favour of a long bath and early night. Oh, and I definitely hear you all on the weeing front!

Bornin1984 · 19/03/2014 20:01

My dh has jus told me my belly button! Has a "lip" I had
A feel and it's
Changing!!! It's not as deep!!!Shock

JodeyP · 19/03/2014 20:24

Dobedobedo, I'm going to Cornwall when I'll be 36 weeks! Taking a few essentials just in case but so looking forward o some sea air.

DS1 is currently being very testing at bedtime. Constant tears and getting worked up. Its been for about 4 days now. Not easy when I'm also working late and feeling shattered as it is. Trying to stay calm and not get stressed! Sad

Maternity leave for me starts on the 9th. 2 weeks before DD. can't wait!

sambababy · 19/03/2014 20:25

Haha bornin my belly button popped out months ago. The belly button itself is actually stretched flat but I get a bit self conscious when someone rubs my belly cos I know they'll feel the strange "lip" Shock

And I am so with you ladies on the weeing! In the middle of the night I sit on the loo for ages with my eyes closed trying not to wake up, just waiting for wee part 2... And I get so excited these days when I go somewhere and find it has a toilet Blush

dobedobedo · 19/03/2014 20:41

Sarah I'm a bit like that too. I'm so tired I'm trying not to cry. I've asked dh if I can have the bed to myself tonight because I'm so tired.

12 working days to go...

SarahJinx · 19/03/2014 20:58

It's not even tired though is it? It's dead weight, zombie like exhaustion.

I can't seem to give into it though, brain is going mental at all the stuff still to do. I just defluffed and hand washed our stage one car seat. My brain seems to think that this bean could come any second and how on earth would we get him/her home ...

Relax woman!

dobedobedo · 19/03/2014 21:09

Yup. I have so much to do but am working too much to do any of it. I hope I have at least two or three weeks of maternity leave before baby arrives so I can get some of it done then.

Minions · 19/03/2014 21:30

Welcome back bush, sounds like a fab hol :)

Same here on the peeing front - it's the office joke the number of times I waddle off during the day! Especially before meetings, you never know when your bladder is going to feature in a game of bump football...

Had a flat belly button with a lip for a few weeks now, I'm sure it'll pop into an outie but DH not so sure. God daughter told me at the weekend it looks like a flower....I'll take that!

Quite a few of you mentioning growth scans. Are they standard in some parts of the country or is it to do with other medical conditions? I've no more scans but v curious to see if bump is ok in there.

moas · 19/03/2014 21:46

minions in my case they've offered growth scans every 4 weeks simply because DS1 was so small. But I think they are being more generous/cautious these days generally. At my ante-natal yoga class lots of women have had them and they don't even appear to look especially small or big to me! I'd say about 1/3 have been offered them.

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 19/03/2014 21:59

Minions I had one at 28 weeks for reduced fetal movement, one at 32 weeks that was arranged really early on due to family history of GD and pre eclampsia, and one at 36 weeks because I'm measuring 37 weeks right now.

Seems weird to think that I get to see baby on a screen in 2 weeks... and then in real life in 6 Shock

ClearlyMoo · 19/03/2014 22:00

Lifts up one verrr very tired hand to wave...

Tried a Aquanatal yoga class tonight. It was so boring relaxing! I found it quite challenging as lots of standing on one leg and my balance is off plus physio treatment today left me weak. I'll def go back though the lady was lovely and so were the other 3 punters. Nice small size group and I felt it was useful.

Just ate my dinner and a tub of B&J's cookie dough DH doesn't know I bought alone as DH out at lent course. Feeling slightly piggy sick now no idea why?!

Will ask MW about wee. Leaving forward doesn't seem to work. Seeing MW next Tuesday so we'll see.

Also agree on tiredness front. Totally zonked.

Excited about "new toy" M-I-L got us a "dry soon" heated airer. My swim stuff is on it right now! Yay!

Haha I love it as an insult in real life but it doesn't always translate so well on screen Grin

sambababy · 19/03/2014 22:53

minions I'm having regular growth scans because the baby measured small at 28wks or thereabouts. But I'm abroad, I think in the uk it's not normal to have a scan then, so they would only do a growth scan if your bump measured off average or like moomin there is medical history.

And how rude of me, welcome back bush! And hello/welcome to everyone else who's joined or returned.

randdom · 19/03/2014 22:57

Was walking to my car and just got chased by a dog. Came running at me barking. Really shaken up :(

BlanketSky · 19/03/2014 23:00

minions mine is really a reassurance scan- this is my 7th pregnancy but is 2nd viable dc. When it was booked by my consultant she said it had the main aim of checking placenta function, as they don't know why I mc 4 times, and additionally will give an indication of size though I know from before how unreliable it was (I had one with DS as measured 3w ahead)

My first proper day of maternity leave today, I had a lovely 2.5 hr nap late morning and I am still exhausted with a burning pain in my left hip ( lovely pgp) so I think I made the right decision to start now Grin

BlanketSky · 19/03/2014 23:02

clearly have you tried rocking slowly back/forward while on the loo? I remember being told this last time and it does work (for me anyway)

Bornin1984 · 20/03/2014 01:21

I have growth scans
Because I'm type 2 diabetic and baby can grow big, also had episode of reduced movements, and I was in a research for raised blood pressure! No more scans until 36 weeks I think!

Random are you ok?

bushprincess · 20/03/2014 04:25

random how scary for you, hope you're ok

tummy buttons... mines flattened right out too! I told DH that I think it might pop out before bean arrives and he got quite freaked out by it and told me he wouldn't be able to touch my tummy if I had an outie Hmm! How very supportive of him!

Hope the exhausted among us got a good nights sleep and are feeling a little better. Have a great day all! xx

Bornin1984 · 20/03/2014 06:14

Getting sick of getting up for a
Wee desperate when I've have
Nothing to drink!!!!!

Also pain in hands caused by this retention!!!!!

5 weeks
To goooooo

dobedobedo · 20/03/2014 06:26

random that sounds frightening. I love dogs, but I get so scared if one is being aggressive. Hope you're okay. Thanks

I haven't had any growth scans. I guess it's good that they don't think I need one, but I would like to know that he's alright in there.

Dh had to sleep in the spare room last night as I was too exhausted to deal with another person in the bed. I still tossed and turned (painfully slowly) through the night but it was so much better with all the space I had. Smile kinda feel guilty though!

dobedobedo · 20/03/2014 06:27

Oh also I tried that leaning forward when you pee thing. It works! Grin

mrsmummytobe · 20/03/2014 06:30

Welcome back bush. Very jealous of your lovely holiday!

I have a totally flat belly button, which dh already seems a little freaked out by. Hope it doesn't turn into a full-on outie!!

Hope everyone has nice days. :)

Minions · 20/03/2014 06:36

Thanks folks on the growth scan info, guess if all keeps well I'll be waiting until the birthday to see him/her :)

Feeling a bit anxious last night, less than six weeks til due date and it's all becoming a bit real. DH is fab when I'm like that, so calm :)

Have a good day all, hope it's pain and stress free (as much as poss)
