We're going through these fast! Thought seen as we were filling up the last thread fast I'd attempt a new thread, not sure how to copy our due date list over though... Could someone else do that?

Yesterday in church after we told people someone asked me what date in April I was due. I know I have a bit of a food bump going on but seriously?!

And what is it with junk food. Only thing I can keep down this morning, potato wedges with ketchup!

The booklet I got from the midwife said at 9-10 weeks clothes will start feeling tight. I think I read somewhere too that your body stores more fat to prepare for breast feeding. Cant wait to buy some comfy maternity trousers. Only thing I can spend a long time sitting in are my pjs.

Mrsthedog · 17/03/2014 12:23

binkybunny Yep, sod a balanced diet - it's all about the white carbohydrates here. And cake.

I wasn't exactly svelte before but now I look and feel like I am eating for four and am due in April. :)

mum2kiss · 17/03/2014 12:29

Afternoon all ;)

I hear you on the wobbly belly! Usually by evening the top half is quite firm but the bottom half is definite wobble!

My scan is bookes for 1st April...dp is excited...im terrified of no heatbeat!

Ive managed to find an aquanatal class so will give that a go this week...anything to get rid of this pgp!!

I took 4 weeks before dd was born and was glad to finish up work by then. I was off for 8 months after sge was born but I dont think we can afford 9 months this time around! I'll probably take 3 weeks before and 7 months after...unless pgp renders me disabled long before then!

PunkyBubba · 17/03/2014 12:57

Hi all,

I think I was off for 8 weeks before DS was born, mix of Mat leave and holidays, but then again I have a job that involves a lot of travel and I really was not up for sitting in the car for 3-4 hour drives at that point. I haven't decided what to do this time around. I'm still in the same job but can travel on the train to my current project, and stay in a hotel. Trouble with that is lugging the suitcase up and down stairs at tube stations, etc. Also realistically DH and I cannot see how I can go back to work after having DC2. We manage at the moment as DH works from home, and can deal with our toddler the nights/mornings I am away (I work 3 days a week so away for 2 nights), but I cannot expect him to deal with a very boisterous toddler (who is currently under assessment for major speech delay/autism/learning disabilities), and a baby who probably wouldn't be sleeping through consistently then... Work didn't send me away from home until DS was 1.5 years, but a lot has changed since then. I think if DS is diagnosed with something then I would prefer to be home anyway so I can be there to support him (and potentially DC2 as it can be hereditary). Lots of unknowns anyway..

Major wobbly tum here too.. I know people say you show earlier 2nd time around but last week I looked the same as I did at about 5 months pregnant with DS...!! Luckily some of that was bloat so it has gone down a bit, but I certainly can't do my jeans up. I was such a healthy eater in my first pregnancy but the nausea is so much worse this time.. I eat constantly, and it is all about the carbs and junk food.

Also feeling bleurgh today.. Nausea has lifted generally but like some of you have said it does come back at times and this morning I've had to run to the loo a few times so I don't retch at my desk. I also just spent 15 minutes wandering around the shops looking for something I actually wanted to eat for lunch. Everything made me gag..

MundayCakes85 · 17/03/2014 13:40

I thought it was just my eating too much causing the wobbly tummy, or maybe everything's being pushed around in there?!?
Just told my boss and he seemed quite pleased so that's a relief! Second 12 week scan due on Thursday. Hopefully we'll get a better view than it's back/bottom this time!!
Hope everyone's having a lovely Monday x

binkybunny · 17/03/2014 13:40

I think eating while pregnant advice should be a bit more realistic. I know its not great to eat all this crap, but I really beat myself up for weeks about my rubbish diet. I used to eat healthy and cook amazing meals but now DH feels a bit like a takeaway chef! The more people I speak to the more tell me all they could eat in the first trimester was carbs and junk food to beat the nausea. I'm starting to stress less now as I am just trying to accept eating whatever I can keep down.

Boots pregnancy magazine nearly tipped me over the edge last week though as all I kept reading was how you have to have a healthy balanced diet and I felt like a v bad mummy already!

magichandles · 17/03/2014 13:53

binkybunny - I had GD with DD and was chatting to a midwife just after she was born and asking what I could do to try and minimise any GD in future pregnancies and should I cut out all sugar from the moment I found out I was pregnant. She said that was fine if I could manage it, but if I all I could keep down was a biscuit - then that was fine too Grin

I veer between feeling shocking and feeling much, much better. I've definitely got more of a handle on what I need to do feel better and my nausea is much worse if I'm tired, so I'm trying to sleep as much as I can and eat lunch much earlier (about 1130). I've also discovered that a spoonful of nutella provides a perfect sugar hit if I feel I need one Blush

Kirstipops · 17/03/2014 14:01

bythesea the DVD I got was pre-Natal Pilate's 10 minute solutions. I like it so far, the woman taking it is 36 weeks so its pretty inspiring to see her go for it!

binkybunny · 17/03/2014 14:36

Mmmm Nutella... Heading for the kitchen cupboard with spoon in my hand... ;-)

Kirstipops · 17/03/2014 15:00

Prenatal Pilates even, flipping auto correct! www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B000RIWARG
I'm currently necking a chocolate milkshake to relieve myself of ragey feelings at work!!

tak1ngchances · 17/03/2014 15:02

Have just had the Harmony test done and (another!) scan.
The scan showed a lively baby, measuring 10 + 6 with good blood flow and heartbeat.

Then the Harmony test was 4 or 5 test tubes of blood which are now on their way to California for analysis. Fingers crossed. I ticked the Yes box to find out the gender of the baby so we'll know on the 31st if we're having a boy or girl! Smile

gunwalloe · 17/03/2014 15:07

Congrats tak1ngchances you now join me and ohthegoats who are also on the two week wait
Where was the box to tick for the sex? I told the phlebotomist I wanted to know I hope she ticked it for me

tak1ngchances · 17/03/2014 15:16

Yes the phlebotomist ticked the box for me, it was on the form she was filling out when she took my bloods.

gunwalloe · 17/03/2014 15:19

Phew I should be ok then, it seems strange that I will know so early

bumpbangbump · 17/03/2014 15:23

Can't believe you'll know what flavour you'll be having. That's so amazing!

magichandles · 17/03/2014 15:37

Wow, that's amazing you'll know the sex so early - and accurately as well!

TroubleAndFyfe · 17/03/2014 15:40

Ooh, I'd love to know the gender so early! Another 9 weeks for me! Do those of you finding out soon have an inkling either way?
Mum2kiss the aqua natal will not get rid of your PGP - I'm sorry but it's unlikely that anything other than giving birth is going to do that, it's all about reducing the impact and getting some relief when you can. I really hope your class is good and that the instructor knows of the condition.

gunwalloe · 17/03/2014 15:48

trouble I had initially thought boy but as my hair (legs, armpits) have stopped growing im now thinking girl I may be wrong though

magichandles · 17/03/2014 15:53

I'm really looking forward to getting my hair cut next as my hairdresser got the sex right for both my previous pregnancies based on my hair growth Grin

gunwalloe · 17/03/2014 15:54

magic did your hair grow more carrying a boy?

bythesea82 · 17/03/2014 15:56

Thanks kirsti I guess it's a bad sign that looking up an exercise DVD and adding it to amazon basket made me feel exhausted! One step at a time Wink

Exciting for those finding out gender early, seems like it will make it very real Grin

binkybunny · 17/03/2014 16:01

How exciting finding out the gender, how do they do it so early is it from the blood tests or scan?

tak1ngchances · 17/03/2014 16:07

It's from the blood tests - they isolate the baby's cells from yours in the blood sample, and then do chromosomal analysis on them. They are looking for disorders such as trisomy 21 but of course they will also see if it is an XX chromosome or XY and so they'll know if it's a boy or girl.

tak1ngchances · 17/03/2014 16:13

PS that is a non-scientific explanation, I have zero medical knowledge...just what I managed to understand from the clinic today!

Loopylu84 · 17/03/2014 16:15

Has anyone else decided not to find out what they're having gender wise? I really don't want to but I think im in a minority!!
