We're going through these fast! Thought seen as we were filling up the last thread fast I'd attempt a new thread, not sure how to copy our due date list over though... Could someone else do that?

Bumpforme - the combined screening bloods are done after the scan in my hospital too so i guess they can analyse together and give you results later so don't worry. The bloods i had taken at the booking in where to check for other things. hepatitis, HIV , blood type etc etc.

Akachan - i was seen at 10 weeks for my booking appointment and they sent off the letter and i got my scan date back after 3 days so don't worry about being seen 'later' it will change nothing. Your scan date may come earlier, there is no reason that they will push things back. The midwife centre is different to the hospital where they scan, so just because one is super busy doesn't mean the other is too.
I'm holding out for my first scan like Me23 and not paying for a private one. I'm scared of course, and the wait is driving me mad - but paying for an early one won't change the outcome of the pregnancy I agree with MrsB. I waited last time, and I will just have to wait again!

pebble82 · 12/03/2014 11:25

Waiting here too for same reason. I'm worrying (probably unnecessarily) as I keep getting twinges in my belly. I rolled over too quickly in bed last night and caused a weird pain on my left side. Now panicking about ectopic. Or maybe I pulled the placenta in some way?? Stupid over thinking I know.

TroubleAndFyfe · 12/03/2014 11:45

So sorry Duggi Sad

I'm waiting for my 12 week scan too, only 2 weeks, 2 days to go. Is this group unusual in so many people getting early scans? I don't remember anyone paying for one on my thread with DS, some people had them early due to high risk pregnancies of course. Can't wait to get into my maternity clothes after the scan, I'm starting to look a bit big in everything!

CareBearWithFangs · 12/03/2014 11:57

I'm so sorry Duggi, take care of yourself.

I'm also not getting an early scan done, I know I'll worry until the 20 week anomaly scan anyway so there's not point.

I feel like death today! Roll on the second trimester.

Me23 · 12/03/2014 12:06

I'm so sorry duggi

I think more people are opting for early scans these days, people are more anxious less faith in nature I think. People want things right now, even with booking appts people want to be booked as soon as they find out and while some people with chronic health conditions that is important for the rest of us there is no need and sorry to put it bluntly but looking at it from a resource and money point of view as there is a high chance of miscarriage it doesn't make sense to book people or scan people so early on.

akachan · 12/03/2014 12:10

I certainly think in some ways I have too much information. I was talking to my mum about it and she didn't have any way of testing for a pregnancy at all, she went to the doctors when she'd missed a couple of periods. I got my BFP before my period was late at all then I spent hours (literally) reading miscarriage statistics and things that can go wrong.

I was going to say maybe it's because I'm a bit old and fat but hinestly I think I would have been the same in my 20s.

sazzlehopes · 12/03/2014 12:15

It's defo too much knowledge akachan - i had the same conversation with my mum last night! Google, and actually these threads (although don't get me wrong i want to be on here and the support is nice and i can't wait til we all get nearer the end!!) but they fuel my worries....

mrsb87 · 12/03/2014 12:42

I think in that respect im lucky in the fact I just haven't had the energy to get out of bed other than to vom some days let alone worry so much about everything. My mum didn't even know she was having twins til she was 32wks and she had been travelling around Europe in a caravan!

BlueberryPoppy123 · 12/03/2014 13:32

Another bad news post... I've been bleeding since yesterday passing big clots :( so my scan was right baby stopped growing around 4/5 weeks...
I'm gutted but hope you all are successful in your pregnancys

Blueberry and Duggi so sorry to hear your news

pebble82 · 12/03/2014 14:43

Sorry to blueberry and duggi. How very sad.

Grannyapple · 12/03/2014 14:59

Just catching up...so sorry blueberry & duggi- hope you both have lots of lovely support.

I too am finding the wait til the 12wk scan tough...I'm 8+4 today & has a private scan with each of my last 2 pregnancies by this point.

DD has just been sick all over my feet (nice!) so I'm off for a shower in a mo...spag Bol & house cleaning will need to wait for now..

mum2kiss · 12/03/2014 15:11

Midwife appointment was a rude awakening!! My bmi is40.5!!!! I am only 5ft so tthat plays a part but either way I have to have consultant led care and take aspirin daily because I am at risk of blood clots. An anaesthetist will need to check check my back to ensure it is not too fat if I need an epidural...im a size 16...im not THAT fat! I feel like this is an over reaction on their part!

porcito · 12/03/2014 15:24

So sad Blueberry and Duggi, sorry to hear that. Hope you are being taken care of well.

The only reason I've had scans already is because Mexico do things strangely so I've been lucky. The government system don't give you ANY scans until 20 weeks. They also scare me a bit, so I've gone private (30 pounds per consultation which includes scan etc.). They test monthly, regardless of how far along you are.

The evil toothache rages today. Doctor gave me some diclofenac for the pain, but the NHS seems to think it's the devil for pregnant women.

Congrats on the good scans yesterday!

pebble82 · 12/03/2014 15:27

Mum2kiss. I'm a size 18 and my bmi is 28. I'm only 7inches taller than you. Weird!

mum2kiss · 12/03/2014 15:46

My bmi has always been above 25 even when I was a size 10. I feel like I'm robbing a needy woman of care by taking up consultant time!

Good news is that she immediately diagnosed pgp and did a physio referral!!! Yippee!

Me23 · 12/03/2014 15:54

Mum2kiss are you sure your bmi was calculated correctly?
I'm surprised you can be a size 16 with bmi of 40.5 doesn't seem right you would need to be 15stone to have that bmi and I'm sure that would be a lot more than a size 16? I'm 11st and a size 14 only a little taller than you.

mum2kiss · 12/03/2014 15:57

Im 13st 7lbs. She also had my height as 5ft 1 but I have always been 4ft 11.5inches

gunwalloe · 12/03/2014 16:13

I make that 35.7 on the nhs bmi calculator the midwifes miscalculated
