2Happy · 21/08/2006 21:58

Aaaaaaaw! She's too shy! Me, dh and her dh are sitting here telling her to post, but she won't! She says she will soon. She'd better; her husband's threatened to post and pretend to be her heh heh!
Thanks for the welcome DH and good luck tomorrow!

Hattie2 · 21/08/2006 22:44

Good luck with the scan dragonhart - are you going to find out the sex? And will you tell us if you do (please!!) ?

LadyTophamHatt · 22/08/2006 08:05

Hey 2happy's friend....come over here and talk to me...no-one is listening

Who many weeks are you? are you due in jan too? if you are you've got to join in this thread!
I've seem to have amused everyone for weeks with my insane worries and witterings (do you have plum trees in your garden...they have worms in them....and...and...and...well...let just say I was a tad freaked out after eating one).

MN is a great place (2happy will agree with me here).

Come on...post...we're all lovely

Ok everyone, with all these 20 week scans coming up, who is finding out if it's blue or pink one they're having??

We said we wont find out but I really want to know now, mostly because I'm almost convinced this one is a girl and I want to see if i'm right. Dh will be there and I've said he'll have to wait outside with the DS's until they've checked everything is ok, just in case.

In my head, I'm going to whisper to the sonographer to tell me, or slip them a little note asking so that DH dopesn't know I've asked.

It'll kill me to walk out still not knowing because I will be a good girl and won't ask.....but I don't do surprises.
And as I've always said before "it's not that much of a surprise, it's a choice of 2...not a choice of 50...it's one or the other"

AAArrrggghhhhh I really really want to know!

Nemo1977 · 22/08/2006 09:14

morning all

hello to 2happys friend

LTH definetly going to try and find out the sex if we can. DD was not willing to reveal anything last year. I just want to know if this 20binbags of girls clothes[yes dd is only 8mths] really need to be kept..lol my scan isnt until next thurs so must be patient..lol
Can feel the baby moving tons now...dont know why I was so worried

LadyTophamHatt · 22/08/2006 09:22

mine is too nemo.
I keep trying to get ds2 to feel him/her kick but as soon as his hand goes on my belly it stops. He was only 2 when ds3 was born so can't remeber it really.

He's finding it hilarious and has been poking my belly shouting "wake up".
Ds3 has also just run up to me finger poised to poke my belly!

Nemo1977 · 22/08/2006 09:28

Bless them..ds was talking to my tum yesterday and said it was the baby. So asked what baby was called and he said hannah[dd]..think he got a little confused...pmsl So explained it was a new baby and he said oh ok its a brother called luke..

muppet3 · 22/08/2006 09:49

I just wanted to say a cautious hello and can I join you? I'm 20 weeks and a little bit (this will be first child), and have my anomaly scan tomorrow So far all good and normal, but after a m/c in December I've been very cautious about being optimistic til about now (hence not joining this thread earlier...) Due 4 Jan so beginning to get my head around the reality of Christmas, New Year and my birthday (2 Jan!)

On a practical note - do I need to do the drinking loads thing before the scan tomorrow? Or was that only the 12 week one?

Dragonhart · 22/08/2006 10:22

Welcome Muppet! I have my scan this after and my letter says that you have to drink one pint instead of two for the first scan. Guess it is because everything is bigger and it doesnt need to be pushed up by a really full bladder!

Sorry but def not finding out the sex here so no revealing later, will have to wait til Jan!!

Nemo, my son is called Luke too so def a vote for that name from here!! I wanted a girl called Mary when my mum was preg with my brother (needless to say that I didnt get her!) I think it is because he was born near christmas and I had played Mary in the nativity play!!

muppet3 · 22/08/2006 11:15

Well lots of luck this afternoon! Hope all goes well and you enjoy seeing it dancing round on screen We're not finding out whether it's pink or blue either, and I wish people would stop asking ... Not sure which is more annoying - that question, or the 'when's it due ... oh - not for a while then!' that I keep getting. Yes, I know it's a big bump for 20 weeks. Yes, there is only one of them in there. People, I'm just short and have crap stomach muscles! Do I really have to keep explaining that.

Hattie2 · 22/08/2006 13:34

Welcome Muppet!

We will definitely be finding out what 'sort' if possible, if he/she is an uncooperative as at the first scan I don;t hold out much hope though.

Nemo - my dd is convinced she's getting a brother called Luke as well!!

laughalot · 22/08/2006 13:35

Lol and welcome to muppet. Well I shall be finding out the sex hopefully but my scan is a week today so no exciting news yet from me. Im sad all you ladies have loads of movement im 20 weeks on thursday and hardly any movements .....

laughalot · 22/08/2006 13:36

Hattie when is your scan ?

Raindog · 22/08/2006 13:43

Hello Ladies
What a lot to catch up on! Well, after more or less continuous bleeding for 4 weeks it has finally stopped (none for a week now) and I'm feeling loads better (although still waiting for that 'glowing' stage with the nice skin and everything!). And I've nearly reached 18 weeks which seems pretty far along (and it's also the point at which I can go into the maternity unit day assessment at the hospital if I have further problems, and not have to go to A&E).

My midwife suggested that the bleeding could well have been caused by a twin that I lost early on and wasn't picked up in the scan. It's really strange because that is exactly what I thought it was, although there is no way of knowing now. So I feel a bit sad, but also enormously relieved that this baby is fine, and then guilty for feeling happy. Hormones eh?

Does anyone have any ideas for not too strenuous (and hopefully really time-consuming) activities for 15 month old girls? Sadly DD doesn't see a trip to Waitrose as quite as exciting as I do!

Mrsworry · 22/08/2006 13:44

I am sad too as not really feeling anything at the moment. I felt some definite flutters at around 14 weeks (even thought that is early when this is my first) but now nothing.

I think most of you ladies already have children but when is "normal" for first movements with your first baby... and will I definitely know what they are?

xx

laughalot · 22/08/2006 13:49

Mrs worry with my first it was around 21 weeks when I could feel my ds move but they do say you can feel your second sooner not the case with me I have movement every now and then but nothing like I did with my ds, dont worry all will be fine xx

theUrbanDryad · 22/08/2006 13:54

hiya all - special hi's to newcomers! Muppet, it's my first too, and i think we must be about the same amount gone...i was 20 weeks yesterday and i'm due on the 16th/9th depending on if you go by my lmp or my scan dates.

here's a quick query for all you knowledgable ladies....when i went for my 11 week scan i had a card which my midwife put the fear of god into me about, saying "if you don't have this card then they won't do the scan!" i don't have a card this time and i can't get hold of my MW cause she's on annual leave! what should i do!? i don't want to build all up to the excitment of the scan and then not be able to have it.....i'm panicking, i admit. we might try and find out the sex, not sure yet. we'll see how DB is lying first...it might be kinda obvious! but tomorro afternoon you lovely ladies may well get to find out if all those pink vibes worked

so, the latest in the mother-in-law saga (or "the outlaw" as i'm starting to call her).....basically, she hasn't been listening to a word we've been saying, still wants to have this fancy do in surrey with all her mates. we've tried to explain that that's not what we want, but she just won't listen. it's not that she can't understand, cause she is perfectly intelligent and reasonable when she wants to be, it's just that she won't! she's threatened DP with cutting him out of her will, and all sorts of awful things. i say, if that's what she wants to do then she can, but he gets dreadfully upset about all this, and basically gives her the power! i think the only thing you can do in the face of such agression is be totally calm and at peace (i'm such a feckin hippy aren't i?!) but he gets wound up and they end up having a screaming match! anyway, dp's at a meeting today in london and they've agreed to meet up for lunch, so we'll see what happens. i'm not holding out much hope, but hopefully she won't freak out too much in public. we hope.

we liked luke for a boy too, cause of star wars...but i'm really starting to get into those old saxon names again (thread heaves a sigh!) although if it is a girl it'll be mariana elise. here's hoping....!

good luck with scans etc my lovelies......take care.....xxx

elliepippamummy · 22/08/2006 17:01

Am very jealous of all of you having scans my nhs trust doesthem at 12 & 22 weeks so havent got mine for another 3 weeks aftr much umming & aaring we have decied not to findout if its a boy or girl we didnt when we had Ellie and although it was a very big shock (both very convinced we were having a boy) I loved that moment when we both said what is it although the consultant doing the section replied "well a baby I hope!" before confirming sex obviously thought he was a comedian!

Raindog - Glad bleeding has stopped! Good to hear from you again!

Mrsworry it was 21 weeks for me too. For me it started as 'was that it moving?! no it cant be' thoughts and then as they got harder, I was sure. Def dont worry though as everyone seems to get the movements at different times for first and subsequent preg. I am def feeling movements now but not very often or regular. The sonographer said today that I would only feel the big movements because my placenta is on the front where you feel most of the smaller movements.

So scan went well, apart from having to wait for an extra hour and a half with a full bladder! Bloody NHS!! Sonographer pressed the gadget really hard onto my tummy and it really hurt (sorry to be such a woose) then baby was really rigling so took longer Said everything was fine as far as they could tell so just a relief really. Feels like a weight off as I had convinced myself that there was something wrong.

Urbandryad - I got told off because I forgot my notes as I was rushing out of the house to drop off DS with mum. Didn't stop me from having the scan so I am sure that they wouldn't stop you having a scan just cos you dont have a bit of paper. You are on the 'system' now so sure it will be fine. Mind you some of these receptionists can be quite militant so if you have a phone no for the Ultrasound dept on your appt card/letter then I would give it a ring. If not and they have not given it to you, it is their fault. They all do it differently dont they. We dont have cards. By the way, lots of sympathy for your MOL probs. Have to admit she makes mine look like an angel! xxx

So, halfway through now!! Seems to be flying but at the same time cant believe that we have the same amount of time to go through again, only getting more and more uncomfortable!

laughalot · 22/08/2006 20:19

Dragon glad things went well with your scan.
Urban would you like me to punch your mil one iv got the hormones for it. Good luck with your scan post asap especially if you know the sex .....
Hope all is well with everyone else.

MrsPeacock · 23/08/2006 11:22

Hello Ladies!

I thought I would join in, I am 20 weeks and due 2nd Jan, this is my first. I have my scan on friday and won't be finding out the sex, I like suprises and the speculation will give me something to talk to my MIL about (after 4 granddaughters - she wants a boy).
I think I have been feeling movements for a few weeks now but that might be because my mum is convinced I should. But I seem to be able to spot the difference now from other windy feelings. I think this might be a particularly wriggly baby (it gets that from its permanently fidgety dad) as it took three walks around the car park to get it to lie down for the measurements at the first scan.
I too am waiting for the glowing/full of beans stage. I am still feeling knackered and am beginning to suspect a conspiracy to get you through the 1st 3 months.
Xmas shopping! How organised?

MerlinsBeard · 23/08/2006 11:25

just a quick post to say hey. popped in to see how u were all doing but couldn't bring myself to read, just skim. letting u all know i am still thinking of you xxx

laughalot · 23/08/2006 12:37

Big welcome to peacock you are joining one crazy thread let me tell you, dont worry to much about movement I bet baby is moving loads and you just dont realise its that yet

Mum great to hear from you hope things are ok xxx

Urban any news yet

Mrsworry · 23/08/2006 12:47

Hello Ladies

Urban - let us know how you get on today... hope all is great!

I am probably being completely naive and stupid but I wanted to run this past you ladies anyway. I have been getting feelings in my belly which make me touch the said area on my stomach and think "ow that feels a bit bruised/uncomfortable" would that be movement of the baby possibly or just another ache/pain of pregnancy?

Also, this morning had my hand on my belly while sitting on the train and could feel a strong pulse in the top of my belly (is that that baby?). OK so I know I'm clutching at starws a bit but an honest answer would be appreciated. .

Also, also... can we discuss prams on this thread or should I go to another one.. I need some help/advice.

laughalot · 23/08/2006 14:15

Mrs worry I think that could be baby you are feeling hunny how many weeks are you now ? Usually as they get bigger you get pains in your tummy because you might have a fist or a foot jabbing you but that will be to early yet but definatly the pulsing feeling will be baby. Yep what do you want to know with regards to prams ?

Urban ????????????????

Mrsworry · 23/08/2006 14:24

Thanks Laughalot, I am 17 + 1 now. It does feel like the sensation of the baby pushing its feet out or stretching out or something but I thought I might just be hoping it was that as I can't wait to feel him/her properly and I know its quite early.

With regard to travel systems, I am thinking that I want to go with a TS as the bubba will probably go in and out of the car a lot and from experience with my niece, if it is just a case of a click in and out thing each time it would be a darn sight easier. Any views?

We have seen one in John Lewis that we like which was also quite cheap (always a bonus) but I wondered if the fact that it was reasonable meant it might not be so good. It is a Graco one(I think called Mosaic) and I also like a couple of other Graco ones. Is this a good make? Thanks for your help as alwyas x

Yes Urban...any news yet?????
