Congrats on your bubba boy ELM. Did you think you were having a boy? Me and DP were really suprised when we found out ours wasn't what we expected (if you know what I mean!)we're keeping it a secret from everyone now! I didn't sleep the night before my scan either, then on the morning I had diarhoea (sp?) with nerves!? Has anyone started shopping yet? I really want to but don't want to jinx anything!

Loubie37 · 06/09/2006 18:03

Sorry, I didn't explain myself very well, I've just read my post back and it confused me too! Basically I want to take 36 weeks off work comprising 26 weeks paid leave, 4 weeks A/L and 6 weeks unpaid leave. I can't really afford to take any more than the 6 weeks unpaid leave. I thought it would be quite straightforward...I would go to HR and say this is when I'm leaving, this is when I'll be back, but as I said earlier, it's the A/L bit that I won't know whether I've got until Feb/March. What annoys me is I would be able to take the whole of the extra 10 weeks as unpaid leave with no quibble, but because some of it is paid leave they're being funny about it. I can't take the extra 4 weeks as A/L at the beginning of my Mat Leave as I haven't got enough leave yet - my leave year starts in March. I even asked if I could say I would be taking 10 weeks unpaid leave for now, and then convert some of it into A/L when I go back but they said no! Bloody Civil Service.....

Congratulations on finding out it's a boy ELM

Daisypops - we've bought quite a lot already...every time we see a bargain or there's freebies or other incentives such as zillions of Boots points we buy it!

So far we've got -

the cot
changing unit
cot bedding (most of it)
moses basket
swing
loads of clothes (mostly in the Next sales)
steam steriliser
breast pump
bottle warmer
bottles
and loads of other bits such as nappies, toiletries and wipes

Every day I go in the soon to be nursery and have a browse through everything

laughalot · 06/09/2006 18:58

Congrats elm another boy I cant beleive it there arent many girls yet .

I want to buy things especially clothes but I am so worried they have go it wrong and im not having a little girl my dh has a brother his bro has 3 children all boys and we have a ds so you can imagine why im panicking so much, it wouldnt be the end of the world if it popped out and it was a boy it would just be a ben instead of a lauren I would be gutted though if id spent loads on clothes. Because our ds is only 2 we have alot of things left over from him so I dont need to buy loads of this like cot, pram , baby bath because iv got the essentials.

laughalot · 06/09/2006 19:00

Forgot to say should we start a thread for iur jan arrivals on the sex of our babies so we can see how many boys, girls and suprises we are having ? One catch though I dont know how to start a link

jessddibs · 06/09/2006 19:56

I think it's a really good idea for a thread, due dates and the gender. Be interesting to see all the info side by side because there are so many posts that I am sure I am not the only one getting confused!?!? Another problem though...I don't know how to start it either...

2Happy · 06/09/2006 20:05

We have one of those for June 05 which was set up post-natally for baby's sex, weight etc. It's hosted by one of the Junies web pages. But we could always do a thread just like the original stats thread (or just start posting again on the stats thread) which would be simpler, lol! And I think we're pretty near needing a new thread for this too - over 450 messages already! Should we start suggestions for the titles? Mine would be The (mostly) Blue Thread or would that offend the people having dd's? (Congrats, BTW ELM!)

JaneNZ · 07/09/2006 09:42

How about this title for a new thread: Thank god it's almost Friday! Anyone else feel like that? It has been such a long working week...

Dragonhart · 07/09/2006 09:44

Glad the scans went well Becks and ELM.

Worth a look in your boots if they have Oshkosh clothes as they are selling them all off really cheap. Got loads of tops, underware, trousers, socks etc for £1 or £2!

Hope everyone is well xxxx

carrotcake · 07/09/2006 10:07

Hi, am fairly new to mumsnet and have a baby due in January, is it too late for new people to catch up with the thread, it's massive! Oh, and expecting a boy too

ELM · 07/09/2006 12:33

Welcome Carrotcake!
Daisypops: really thought I was having a girl, but have got over it now. Although I am milking it with DP as it was his sperm that decides the gender this has to be good for at least a weeks worth of foot rubs!

DH: Will definately be going in to boots..I wonder if they are doing the same thing online....off to have a look now....

Loubie37 · 07/09/2006 13:51

Welcome carrotcake - when's your due date?! Congrats on the little boy, I think I must be one of only a few on this thread who isn't going to find out....but that could all change at my scan tomorrow ;)

Due 14th jan, and was unsure whether I'd ask or not, didn't ask first time with ds, did ask the second time with dd as I really wanted a girl and this time I didn't mind, having one of each, but actually it was plain for all to see. Probably just the angle but DP looked very pleased with himself! Good luck with your scan tomorrow, lookinG forward to chatting with everyone

trinityrhino · 07/09/2006 16:08

Wekk its official at 16:19 my dd was 2 had a lovley dayspent most of it opening presents and cards but we had a trip out for lunch as DH got the day off. My mum and dad got her vouchers for 2 pairs of startrite/clarks shoes so we popped there and got a new pair today was probably the most useful present as far as I was concerned and thought it was such a good idea I am going to buy them for my nece/nephew and godchildren for xmas as they all get so many toys. DH is currently in the loft putting more toys away ready for this one is born.

PS I hav my 22 week scan next weds and unless its very obvious to see we are not asking!

posyparker · 07/09/2006 17:52

Hello all, have not posted here for AGES but have become a bit of a lurker on the thread. Can't explain why, suppose I don't seem to have anything interesting to say! Had my scan last Thursday, all well, asked not to be told whether girl or boy, so didn't find out. The temptation was HUGE though!

Am now 22w 2d and HUUUUUUUGE!!

Loubie37 · 07/09/2006 19:03

Snap sleepycat - I'm due on the 20th and I've got my scan tomorrow too!!

Hattie2 · 08/09/2006 08:40

I can't believe how many boys there are on this thread! Must check out the 'due in Feb' one next month to see if they're all girls

Congrats to all those who have had scans and good luck to those today.

posyparker · 08/09/2006 11:28

Daisypops, I am due on the 9th January according to my dating scan. I seemed to be relatively "normal" sized until about 3 weeks ago, just a bit plumper with a bit of a "pot" but virtually overnight I went proper pregnant. Cannot get into any non-maternity clothes now!
