becks5109 · 25/08/2006 10:13

hello all - i haven't posted for a while and I know this thread is supposed to be without the worry but afraid I need some reassurance from you like minded ladies! I am 19 weeks and yesterday walked into town and had the most excruciating lower tummy pain - by the time I got to my hairdresser I felt like i was going to pass out and was sweating loads. After sitting down it eased really quickly and then I seemed fine. No bleeding or anything either - do you think maybe the baby was sitting in an awkward position?? Its my 2nd baby and i've been thinking i can feel flutters for the last few weeks but not sure and I thought I felt it last night so not too worried but just need some reassurance. The pain really scared me and reminded me of labour! I heard heartbeat a week ago so know that everything was okay then and don't want to be overly paranoid.

LadyTophamHatt · 25/08/2006 10:19

Becks I had pains like that the other day. I was so bad I had to get Ds1 to push the buggy with was loaded up with shopping because I couldn't push it.

It felt more like muscle pains on my stomach (i like the idea of still having muscles on my stomach actually than baby/uterus pains TBH and once I sat down they went completely so I didn't worrry.
I seem to get it when I "over do it" so as of yesterday when I finally got all the school uniform stuff sorted I'm on strike!

becks5109 · 25/08/2006 10:26

thanks LTH - I had almost convinced myself i was having a miscarriage then last night almost convinced myself i had SPD - let's hope its neither of those and like you just from over doing it. I was so fit and healthy in my last pregnancy that I'm feeling a bit shocked that I don't feel so good this time - hardly surprising though running around after a 2 year old who is also having major sleep problems at them moment and exhausting me!

theUrbanDryad · 25/08/2006 13:25

hey becks - not seen you on here before?!

i think it might be just your abdomen stretching, i've had loads of pains with that, but then it is my first and i don't know what to expect. i think because i was actually about a stone underweight before i got pregnant there's been a lot of stretching. i have already got stretchmarks on my boobs and hips (as DP was kind enough to point out last night - he got clouted for his efforts!) so not really looking forward to what my body post-pregnancy is gonna look like! oh well, guess i should just enjoy this time, but i miss my flat tummy and being able to see my ribs!

LTH - hun, i don't know what to say. pregnancy dreams are really scary aren't they? i have to say that since having scans etc i've had them a lot less, but i've always dreamt very vividly (at least since i stopped smoking so much ahem err....stuff)....the only advice i can really give is make sure your bedroom is well-ventilated, as a stuffy room can lead to some wierd and wonderful pictures in your head! i have to sleep with a window open otherwise i have horrific nightmares! DP is very understanding about this, and occasionally sleeps with an extra blanket.

hope you're ok..........xxx

theUrbanDryad · 25/08/2006 13:28

becks, actually thinking about it, could it have been braxton hicks contractions? like i said, this is my first so i don't really know what to expect (plus i only found out what braxton hicks were the other day and am keen to show off my knowledge!) but after sex my bump goes really hard and i feel loads of movement and sometimes some clenching. i asked my aunt (who's a midwife) and she said it was braxton hicks! i wasn't expecting them at only 20 weeks, but well....just a thought anyway!

Dragonhart · 25/08/2006 14:43

Sounds awful becks, bet it was quite scary. Someone I worked with befreo I had DS told me when I was preg with him that she had collapsed at 24 weeks and when she went to doctors, they said that the baby had squashed a blood vessel and made her faint. Could it be anything like that?

Anyway, good news!!!! My sister came round last night, unexpectedly and told us she was pregnant too !!!! Due in April so there will only be afew months between the cousins! Really happy for them and I think they were a bit shocked because they had only just started trying and got married last april. Baby will be a nice Wedding anniversary present. So happy she is going through it at the same time .

By the way LTH, I had a dream last night that I found out I was not really preg and I just carried on pretending that I was then cme home with a doll and told everyone that it was our baby. Wouldnt let anyone look so they wouldnt see it wasnt a real baby. Then DH insisted on having a hold and he really shouted at me when he found out it was a doll!! Def crazy preg brain! Sure you will be happy whatever the sex is. xxxx

Hope everyone is ok? Prob be off for a while as going to the seaside to see MIL and FIL for the week. Will be on my own with them in the week cos DH has to come back for work so might go crazy!!!

Good luck to anyone who has scans next week and hope everything goes well.xxxxxx

Off to paqck now AAAAHHHHHHHHH! I hate packing!

Divvy · 25/08/2006 15:38

LadyTophamHat - Thanks for your message on bmc

2Happy · 25/08/2006 15:57

Hellooooo everyone! Back from the hol. I see my friend hasn't plucked up courage to post (despite you all beign lovely and welcomming, thank you ), but she said she'd been lurking already and she now knows my MN name, so c'mon! Post, darn it!!
Flipping knackered now as ds kept refusing to sleep, too many strange places and too many childless friends being noisy (not you, lurking friend, yours was the only night he slept well!). I wondered if it was good training for when we have the baby, but I'm so knackered now I'm just scared I won't cope!
Anway, I'll try and catch up now!
Welcome to muppet and Mrs Peacock!
Raindog - i'm really glad the bleeding has stopped
Becks - I used to get a pain like that with ds, though not until I was further on. I was told it was a lack of oxygen to the womb, which is why it went when I stopped walking but it really hurt. I'm hoping it doesn't come back again this time.
LTH - UD is right, pg dreams are so vivid, I often wake up feeling really unsettled by them, doesn't mean if it's a boy you won't love it. But it's hard I think particularly for you since everyone says "so you'll be hoping for a girl, then" to you . I'd love a girl, but I know if it's a boy I'll love it just the same.
muppet/UD congrats on the scans. And congrats UD on the boy . I think your wedding plans sound lovely, and if mil doesn't like it then she doesn't have to go. I know she's your dp's mum and all, but he's going to be a husband and father, and he needs to get out from under his mother's thumb! How about compromise - you say to her if she wants to throw a party sometime for her poisonous friends in honour of your wedding where she lives then that's fine, you'll go and fix smiles to your faces all evening. But the wedding is your domain, and she butts out!
DH - have a great holiday, and hope the in-laws don't drive you too crazy!
Mrs Worry - we bought a mothercare travel sytem which was really big and bulky. It was perfect for walks with ds at home on the country roads/tracks, but yes LTH is right, as soon as he was old enough we bought a maclaren stroller for ordinary use. dsis had a quinny, which seemed really good but was very pricey. HTH.
Phew! I think that's everything caught up on, sorry if I've missed anyone!

jessddibs · 25/08/2006 16:14

Hi all, havn't been around for a little while just because I have been so busy sorting out school stuff, spent over £100 on shoes, pumps and trainers!!!!

Pushchairs - I think that I am going to go for the 3 wheeler silvercross. I tend to do a hell of alot of walking, like 3+ miles everyday, and first time round I brought a gracco travel system which I found a bit 'plastic' and not the best to push for a long time. Dh is moaning though that we are going to have to buy a car to fit the pushchair!! But I have a light weight buggy already if we are just popping out etc. Its a very personal thing, depends on how often etc it's gonna be used. My friend is just buying a lightweight buggy suitable from birth because she drives everywhere and is going back to work so won't be using a buggy that much.

Pains - I had really bad sharp pains a few weeks ago which made me cry, and the mw said that it was more than likely stretching pains or the baby laying on a nerve. It can also be your body telling you that you have slightly over done it and to stop and rest. Your belly can tense up as a protection. But we have all seemed to experience some pains here and there, so much is going on inside us that we are bound to feel things strange now and again. Pull your skin and it hurts! So all that stretching skin must give off twinges now and again!

Gotta go pack all our gear now for our holiday, off to the cotswolds tommorow....but the weather forcast is s**t! So we may not last a whole week unless we see some dry, warmish days. Can't say I am looking forward to the 4+ hour car journey, just hope my bladder holds, gonna take alot longer if we have to keep stopping for me to have a pee! Please everyone, keep those fingers crossed for sunshine!!!!!!

Actually feeling ok at the mo, nice little bump, been told I no longer look fat and that I now look pregnant!! Didn't know whether or not to take that as a compliment!?! lol

Catch up soon.x.

jessddibs · 25/08/2006 16:16

I am going mental!!! We are not off to the cotswolds at all!! Never been there in my life!! We are off to Cornwall!!! LOL!

LadyTophamHatt · 25/08/2006 17:05

I really keep chopping and changing my mind about find out.

That dream really freaked me out and I feel like if I even feel 1% like that it's would be awful.

But then the small part of my mind that is still sane and rational is saying "GOOD GOD woman it's only a dream.....pull yourself together"

Of course I know 100% that as soon as I see the baby I'll be hopelessly in love regardless if it's a boy or girl but I hate the way I'm feeling ATM where I want a girl more than boy. It makes me feel disloyal to the boys I've already produced!!

I think I'll just wait and decide for sure 100% on the day. ATM i'm 99.99% sure I want to know...

God, don't I go on!!

theUrbanDryad · 25/08/2006 17:36

LTH...go on, find out. we want to know dammit! you don't have to tell anyone else (we haven't!) but you have to tell us. i wanted a girl but only cause girl's clothes are so much cuter. of course you're not being disloyal to your boys by wanting a girl (i think something like 60% of mums confessed to preferring a girl!) .....anyway to those of you off on your hols have fun! we can't have a holiday this year cause we haven't got any money, i was hoping for a week in scotland after the wedding but i don't think it's gonna happen.

oh, and here's something for you all to think about over the weekend : how about finn for a boy's name? DP likes it but i'm not sure i do....

LadyTophamHatt · 25/08/2006 18:21

ds3's middle name is finley.....or finlay, i can never remembr which way we spelt it

LadyTophamHatt · 25/08/2006 18:49

Can someone remind me please...when is it taht we reach the 3rd trimiester?

this 2nd one seems to be going on for years....

ELM · 25/08/2006 21:16

Hi Ladies, haven't been on for a while so thought I would pop on to catch up... couldn't believe the new thread already had 256 posts on it!!
I've been away for a relaxing break... champagne (just 1 glass!) chocolates (the entire box) and four poster bed! Bliss. Turned 26, felt baby start to move, bought nursery furniture. . Now that I'm back I've had the urge to tidy and sort things out...very strange for me!!
If anyone out there is looking for a good storage solution for all the pre-pregnancy clothes argos are doing a deal on vac pack bags... the type you use your hoover on to shrink down...6 huge bags for £20.. everyone else is talking about exciting baby stuff and I'm talking about storage!!

Urban: congratulations on finding out you're having a boy
Raindog: Glad the bleeding has stopped
Welcome to everyone that's new and LTH you're crazy worrying posts are great, I'm having all the same worries.. it's such a relief to know that someone else is too.And as for bizarre dreams.. I'm having really raunchy ones as well and remembering them for days and onesthat scare me so badly I have to wake DP (and I'm normally a horror movie junkie!)

Em xxx

ELM · 25/08/2006 21:18

LTH 3rd trimester starts at 26 weeks according to the mounds of pregnancy books all over the lounge...

I can't help it... I'm a first timer!

LadyTophamHatt · 25/08/2006 21:24

Thansk ELM...

We were all 1st timers once

BTW, I have stacks of PG mags too, even on baby No4 I still can't help buying them.
You'd think I should know it all by now

2Happy · 26/08/2006 09:16

Distressing and probably TMI news! I still bf ds, but he wasn't getting much before I got pg and is now self weaning, so is only having a feed in the morning. Haven't needed breast pads for months and months and months. But last night, when I was getting ready for bed my boob was leaking!!!!!! Nooooooooo! It can't start this early! Don't want to go back to shoving the boob equivalent of sanny pads down my bras, which inevitably creep upwards over the day until I realise I've been going about with them poking their heads up above my top and no-one has bothered to mention it to me (yes, it really has happened ). Just when I was beginning to think I might be starting to enjoy this pregnancy lark thing again, my body betrays me! (Overreact? Me? )

coffeebeanz · 26/08/2006 12:50

Hello all,

Back from a lovely time in France, not managed to read all the posts (- there are far too many) but hope that everybody is OK. Aches and pains are just part of the process I'm afraid and IMO it gets worse before it gets better Cant believe I've reached the half way mark this weekend. Started searching for new clothes as I'm starting to put some bulk on now although I'm trying to avoid getting into those elasticated waists for as long as possible. Its such a depressing thought to have to wear such huge pants for the next 20 weeks(thats what my nightmares are about !!) Anyone got any good recommendations ?
Glad to hear everyones scan results and urban congrats on the little boy too they are such lovely bundles of love, affection and dirt!

The good thing about knowing what you are having is that you can start buying with confidence. Just stocked up on loads of baby clothes in France such as petit bateau and sucre d'orge they are tons cheaper than here ! Even hubby got a bit broody and bought a few vests when shopping by himself, right size as well. Sometimes I really love him Feel I might need to calm down a bit now on the baby clothes but still its much more fun than shopping for big baggy pants !

lulu25 · 26/08/2006 15:02

Why do you need big pants? I'm just wearing normal ones under the bump. What new horrors are to come?

I'm at the new clothes stage too. Got a pair of Earl jeans off eBay, so I thought, but the little shit hasn't sent them to me. All other maternity trousers (at all prices) are made of polyester - what's that about? Also not loving the gigantic comedy tits. Seriously considering not leaving the house for the next five months.

Only consolation is feeling bebeh move. I appear to have a nocturnal one which is quite a cosy feeling in the middle of the night.

2Happy · 27/08/2006 08:50

lulu I managed fine wearing my normal pants through last pregnancy, but some people find big pants more comfortable.
CB - glad you had a good holiday, the shopping sounds fab!
Still leaking ...

coffeebeanz · 27/08/2006 10:45

Perhaps its a northern thing - by pants I meant trousers !

Dont worry Lulu normal knickers/pants are totally fine throughout your pregnancy, no need to put yourself through the horrors of wearing huge underwear too and i wont even mention those awful disposable things .....

coffeebeanz · 27/08/2006 10:54

2Happy, sorry to hear your distress re leaking although your post read so well I had to smile, I had forgotten all about those little problems. I think we are all going to be very lucky with winter babies that we can hide behind woolley jumpers this time.

I dont have any experience on this but I was told an old wives tale about eating sage to help dry up milk (usually after the birth tho) maybe your midwife could advise ? [sympathy face]

lulu25 · 27/08/2006 15:03

Phew. Although either way huge pants aren't particularly appealing. Liking the big jumpers though CB.

theUrbanDryad · 27/08/2006 15:31

speaking of giant comedy boobs i was measured up for my wedding bra on friday and have gone from a 32C to a 34F!!! WTF!! DP loves them but i'm not so sure... i miss being able to get away with not having to wear a bra...oh well...guess this is where it starts going downhill!

i think we like zachary for a boy now, i really like the name, and love zach as a shortening...

as for big pants, all my pants (knickers, to avoid confusion, although i really hate that word!) were fairly huge anyway, cause last year i lost about 2 stone in a month (guess that's what splitting up with your boyfriend of 4 years does for you huh?) same with stretchmarks, i already have them all over my hips so now have lovely ones on my boobs too to add to the loveliness! i've also started to grow back into my skin, it's really wierd!

we're in surrey this weekend, with the DP's parents, just told them about the canal cruise idea and they're really supportive! WTF??? so was i just overreacting before? i'm scared she's playing mind games, but then i tell myself i'm being paranoid. anyone else had pregnancy fear? i mean, not actually about the pregnancy, just general paranoia about absolutely everything!? probably just me...

anyway, hope you're all well and having a lovely bank holiday...speak soon! xxx
