I have given up work for lend ;-)

Minions · 05/03/2014 15:57

Thanks & Flowers for you samba, sorry you're feeling sad. We're here, not the same I know but you're not on your own. Same for everyone else having a rubbishy time.

Re leaking, none here either so I'm also hoping my mini boobs will be up to the job when the time comes!

Bornin1984 · 05/03/2014 16:00

Samba Thanks

Bornin1984 · 05/03/2014 16:06

Out of the 100 or so names listed on the stats chart, how many of us are "regulars" posters

hobbjobb · 05/03/2014 16:26

GTT done, the drink was fowl though, like syrup and loads of it, and I joked I may puke on the phlebotomist, she did not look impressed, moody caaaah.

I treated myself to a nice soup and some fancy bread with a GU lemon cheesecake for lunch, I guess if I do have diabetes then I'll have to forgo dessert so may as well get some in while I can...

I'm having my whooping cough jab tomorrow, my life is a constant stream of medial appointments at the moment.

Hope everyone is doing ok, 3rd trimester is sucky but we are nearly there ladies so keep those chins up, we will all have beautiful squidgy babies in a few weeks time and it will all be forgotten xxx

NannyPlumForPM · 05/03/2014 16:29

I'll be a regular! A regular moaner anyway Wink

So I rock up to my 31 wk midwife appointment and she had just recieved a phone call asking her to action my gtt, so the midwife doesn't know how bad I have gestational diabetes but that I definitely have it :( great.

So I cried haha very mature

She has said to cut out sugar for now and then to see how badly I was over the limit Friday morning. Oh and I have lycosites or something in my wee which indicates a urine infection. And pgp (but nowhere near as bad as some of you!) And dd2 has talipes. And possibly this incontinentia pigmenti. Fucking brilliant! Am feeling very 'poor me' and need a kick up the bum.

Does having gd mean I will be induced early or c section or any of the above? Bit scared to google Sad

bushprincess · 05/03/2014 16:31

big hugs to you Samba hope your DH is being supportive and can give you some extra love. It's so hard being so far away from friends and family Thanks

bornin hehe - good call re giving up work for Lent - sounds like a plan!

bushprincess · 05/03/2014 16:35

I reckon about 32 of us from the stats page bornin

Hope we haven't scared off the others with TMI about weeping fanjos and the like Wink !!

Hope everyone else checks in more as D-day approaches - maybe when everyones Mat leave starts there'll be more of us on here regularly??

bushprincess · 05/03/2014 16:36

Thanks to you too nanny sorry to hear about the GD

Bornin1984 · 05/03/2014 16:36

This diabetic for a snack has had: tomatoes. Cucumber. Snackajacks and humours!!! Roll on tea time when I can have chicken and wedges!!!

NannyPlumForPM · 05/03/2014 16:43

Oh and the baby is breech Grin of course!
So is it just normal sugar things (like cake) I can't have or is it stuff like crips and bread and cheese etc? Hmm

Bornin1984 · 05/03/2014 16:46

Nanny. Is it worth asking to speak to your diabetic midwife who can put you in touch with a dietician to see what's appropriate for u?

NannyPlumForPM · 05/03/2014 17:14

Yes I think Friday morning she said she will know how bad I have it and then get in touch with diabetes people etc. I suppose I'm just worrying uneccesarily :)

LongTailedTit · 05/03/2014 17:33

Nanny - when DSis had GD I remember her having sugar with protein, so if she wanted an apple she had to eat it with cheese etc. Her GD was managed entirely by diet tho, so wasn't severe.

I keep losing track of the thread so I don't post in case I say the wrong thing! Def not a regular. Grin

We've had a lazy afternoon here - bloomin Braxton Hicks have been sore again so I parked DS on the sofa and we've watched a lot of TV... Every time I got up they got sore again so I just gave up! Poor kid, very dull afternoon with Mummy.
On the upside, the PGP doesn't hurt if I'm this static! :)

32wk scan coming up on Monday, I've managed to persuade my mum to come down to help with DS as he has a Hosp appt the same day (and isn't allowed to come into the scan either), she agreed very begrudgingly. Sooo tempted to tell her not to bother come, but that would be cutting my nose off to spite my face.

DH started a new job today after a very long quiet patch - phew! Freelancing is stressy this time of year as his industry takes ages to get back in gear after the new year. He was getting proper cabin fever too and really starting to get on my nerves!

psynl · 05/03/2014 17:39

I haven't posted for ages but have been a regular lurker.
Sympathies to all those suffering in some way. I'm starting to feel very achy and tired but I start mat leave next Friday so clinging on to the thought of that!
I'm also having twice weekly blood pressure and urine checks as they are worried about pre-eclampsia - I'm praying I avoid this!
On a positive note, gestational diabetes is completely under control through diet alone -hoping it stays this way.

ClearlyMoo · 05/03/2014 17:47

Hello. I had a big important presentation next week in head office 2.5hrs drive away. Just spoken to director organising and we've concluded it has to be cancelled. Hmm

So frustrating. However no way I could do it if it was tomorrow so we kind of need to conclude I won't be up for it next Weds. Feel like a big fat preggo career failure. Plan is I come in and do it as a keeping in touch day in 5/6months time... and get paid for it then which will be good.

Physio this am means I can now move more easily but am in same amount if pain hmmmmmm. However counting my blessings. I can walk(in a fashion). I can drive and I can crawl to the loo in the night! DH has been wonderful. Baby is fine.

Total panic earlier. Thought I was leaking amnio as big wet patch on knicks and leggings. Had a good sniff (sorry if TMI) you guessed it it smelled of ammonia. So panic over. Baby moving happily too.

Trying to do work sat sitting on my Swiss ball but ended up on my bed Shock ooops!

Thanks to all those feeling down in one way or another. I'm starting to really stress about work now so that's getting me down - there's just so much to get done before mat leave and people just seem to keep putting more hurdles in the way. Keep trying to tell myself there's no point in stressing about it - in 3.5 weeks I'll be finished and putting it all behind me. Looking forward to.yoga tonight to calm myself down!

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis nanny. I don't know anything about it but I'd have thought just avoiding the obvious sugary things for now would be the way to go until they tell you more on Friday.

ClearlyMoo · 05/03/2014 17:49

Oh gosh I'm so selfish. Sorry to hear those struggling esp Xav and Isean (the itchy ones) and all the hobbling fellow PGPers and hugs to anyone who needs them.

I also think I am a regular (moaner) appreciate you ladies SO much!! But I'm not on the stats and have NO IDEA how to get on them! Techno fail!

OP posts:
loopylou52 · 05/03/2014 17:51

Cross-post clearly, glad the physio has helped in some way. Maybe if the area was inflamed it'll take a bit longer for the pain itself to go away? Definitely a step in the right direction though (no pun intended).

McBaby · 05/03/2014 17:57

Sorry so many people are feeling bad and getting diagnosis for gd/oc/pgp etc I think it's just that stage of pregnancy.

After having a horrible first pregnancy with prem contractions and pgp meaning I barely left the house for 3 months I do understand how hard it is.

I must admit after feeling dreadful a couple of weeks ago with pgp meaning I could barely leave the house and being so dizzy and out of berate even when lying in bed I now feel the best I have done for months. The women's osteopath I was seeing has worked wonders on my pelvis and I now only get a twinge in one of my si joints - if anyone is suffering in North london I can highly recommend someone. I have also been drinking water constantly, staking spatone and eating a high iron and salt diet to improve my
BP and iron levels and I finally have some energy.

Flixy102 · 05/03/2014 18:33

I'm a terrible poster but lurk lots and follow everyones posts. Just wanted to come out of lurking to say I completely identify with Nannys situation as I've just been diagnosed with GD and also have a stubborn breech baby!

Am only on day 2 of testing my blood 7 times a day and already it's a total pain in the bum! I'm also struggling with what I can and can't eat and seeing as I have an incredibly sweet tooth, its very hard not to eat anything bad!

Anyway, waves and love to everyone struggling at the moment (probably most of us!) Smile

Bornin1984 · 05/03/2014 18:45

I have to test my sugars 7 times a day sometimes more if I have a hypo, inject insulin 5 times a day and two prohalactic anti embolism infection every day!!

NannyPlumForPM · 05/03/2014 18:55

waves flixy... It's rubbish isn't it!! They haven't found out the level I was over yet, but I'm still getting +2 glucose every sample so I think trying to manage it on diet alone is unlikely :(

dobedobedo · 05/03/2014 19:07

Sorry to hear about the GD Nanny and Flixy! Hope it's not too difficult to manage. Thanks

MrsFooCough · 05/03/2014 19:38

Ohh everyone who's got GD I feel so sorry for you. I'm a bit freaked out that I may get it, but I think even if I don't MiniCough is going to be a MONSTER anyway, I would almost welcome an induction a couple of weeks early! The only thing I can see them doing for you nanny is maybe an induction from 36/7wks, just because baby might get too big for an easy birth at full term? But remember babies are almost fully cooked at 36wks anyway so don't be scared Smile

I'm feeling pretty zen about the birth still, I think it'll be GIMME THE SODDING EPIDURAL from the get-go and I think I'd need forceps anyway as my mum did with me and I was only 8lb7 (I can imagine MiniCough getting to be at least 9lb Confused eep!) or maybe a kiwi/ventouse so I'm resigned to being on my back on a bed anyway.

Does anybody else kind of feel their cervix maybe getting pushed up when they sit on a hard-ish surface? It feels kind of like when I was a teenager and put my tampon in wrongly, and sat down in class and FELT IT IN MY FANJO it was so wrong...~shudder~ ugh.
If you have felt it like that, is it ok? Should I mention it to midwife when I next see her? Should I ring her up and mention it tomorrow? IS MY FANJO FALLING OUT? Shock
