All of us May mummies are BACK like the Terminator only less deadly (unless preggo rage strikes and we're within waddling distance of sharp things)

Evening ladies,
Not logged on in ages as I've just come to the end of a ridiculously busy week at work. Going to try & catch up on everything I've missed but hugs and Thanks to anyone needing them.

I had my GTT test this week & all went fine. Waiting to get the results now.

Hezbean · 15/02/2014 21:39

I had a glass of red wine last night with dinner - have been having a little one once or twice a week, always with food though. REALLY enjoy it and savour it.

Mrsmummy I have my GTT this week. Do you have to fast before it? Mine's at 9.15am so not too long to wait for food but I'm always ravenous in the mornings!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumEEEEK · 15/02/2014 21:41

Hez you should've been given instructions by clinic/hospital. Fasting for 12 hours beforehand usually.

rebeccax2 · 15/02/2014 21:47

I've had about a half a glass of wine every fortnight or so. Always with dinner and always very savoured. I find I don't want more.

Anyone else getting the Anti-D injection? Mine is this week and I hear it's very very ouchy!

ClearlyMoo · 15/02/2014 22:13

I had two little bits of wine when we stayed in posh hotel last week. Loved it. Friends came to visit today and knowing my penchant for mulled wine brought me non alcoholic mulled drink. Lushness. I've had two glasses of it!

Sad to hear of people in pain with SPD! Motivation to keep doing my physio daily... Had the odd twinge but so far so good... One day at a time etc...

As for stretch marks. All above belly button, I think they are old ones resurrected (I lost 5 stone before getting preggo) as body grows back into old shape...

Bornin1984 · 15/02/2014 22:14

Omg!!! My nursery is finished !!!!!!ShockShock

Hezbean · 15/02/2014 22:36

moomin thanks - they didn't actually give any instructions! Perhaps I'll ring tomorrow just to check...!

randdom · 16/02/2014 07:24

I'm so tired :( I am about to start my 6th day of work in a row and my third long day (12 hours) I can barely bring myself to get up :(

rebeccax2 · 16/02/2014 07:39

Oh dear random when do you get to wind down a little bit? Have you got maternity leave booked?

dobedobedo · 16/02/2014 07:45

I massively sympathise random. Can you take any holiday before mat leave, if you're not starting your leave until later?

mrsmummytobe · 16/02/2014 07:57

Hez you should fast for 12 hours before it. I quite enjoyed the lucozade actually, might buy some more! My clinic was so disorganised though- my test was at 9 & was fine but by about 10 they had run out of lucozade & were actually turning women away who had come in for their appointments! While I was in the chair to have my blood taken, the lady actually had an argument with an annoyed husband who had driven his wife all the way there only to be told they had to reschedule!

mrsmummytobe · 16/02/2014 08:00

Re stretch marks, I'm getting them on my boobs Sad I'm using the sanctuary mum to be stretch mark oil on them, which was a brilliant pressie from a friend. None on tummy so far (touches wood!)

bushprincess · 16/02/2014 08:55

impatiently don't worry about a G&T, there seems to be little evidence of any risk of drinking 1-2 drinks a couple of times a week. The book 'expecting better' has a really good chapter looking at the current research if you want to read more! It's everyone's personal decision though.
here's a good review on that book (it's been mentioned in these threads a couple of times and for anyone who's keen on a bit of geeky-ness it's great!!) www.theguardian.com/books/2013/sep/19/expecting-more-emily-oster-review

Am so, so blown away by DH this weekend - on friday night he had offered to cook dinner.... but I have to admit that at about 7pm I was starting to think 'I wonder where we're going to eat... maybe I should offer to lay the table?' Hmm

But then he called me through the house to a little walled garden at the back - where completely without me realising he'd set up a full-on safari tent with a lovely fire going outside and loads of candles in the trees.... we ate dinner on the tent veranda and then camped out in the garden (our hounds and cats providing the only wildlife sightings!!)

As its been so wet recently we haven't been out in the bush for months so this was just a perfect little surprise!

Admittedly it was slightly less romantic by the morning when the inflatable mattress had deflated and our ridge-back had decided to sneak in and spoon with us! Smile

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend, those with pgp I really hope you get help to ease the pain, it sounds so horrid

bushprincess · 16/02/2014 08:57

sorry random I didn't see your post, sorry you're having such long days working, when are you starting mat leave? any chance of getting some shorter hours before then?

impatientlywaiting · 16/02/2014 09:07

Wow Bush, that sounds amazing of your DH!

Did you make any decisions yet about where you are going to give birth?

pickletalk14 · 16/02/2014 09:22

Hi all... I've been lurking in here for ages.. congrats to us all for getting this far!

Was hoping to pick brains about baby clothes, I've gone e bay crazy and am picking up some lovely bargains but I'm stuck with 'outer layers'. All the babies I know born around now are in gorgeous snow suits but it will be late May (possibly but hopefully not June) when my LO pops out.... it could be summer, but being the UK it could still be cold?!

Any thoughts on outer layers?!

bushprincess · 16/02/2014 09:30

impatiently I have to say he has definitely picked up some brownie points there!!

Still not decided on where the bushbaby will be born, but we're seeing our Dr on wednesday for his report back on the new mat unit here in Harare, (which is shiny and new, but difficult for us to assess if the facilities are really up to scratch) if he's happy then great, it's a Zim baby, if not then will head back to the UK... will let you all know as soon as it's decided...

Hi pickle! well done on all your bargain shopping! Can't help on the clothes front here I'm afraid - but there are plenty of experienced mummies on here who are always on hand with good advice!!! And yes - well done all of us - now everyone here is in or nearing the 3rd trimester... amazing how far we've all come!!!

Bornin1984 · 16/02/2014 09:41

Mini bornin will be in babygrows and hand knitted cardigans for first three months we haven't bought any clothes that size! He also only has two outdoor coats which I think will be ok as
He's ways going to have a blanket draped over him if we are out and about

Minions · 16/02/2014 09:42

Hi pickle, we're having the same dilemma! In mothercare yesterday we ended up buying some basic, cheap short sleeved vests which we can then layer up with baby gro, cardis etc if cold. Got some all in one sleep suits that aren't bulky but we can add a blanket/gro bag at night. Not sure why they're called sleep suits - I'm reckoning they look comfy for daytime too!

We don't know if we're having a boy or girl so we're just buying a few bits & bobs then hopefully I'll be able to venture out once I know the sex and the weather conditions. Could be optimistic with a newborn of course....

Here's Cake for those having a rubbish time. Sorry to hear about the levels of pain for some, sounds awful. Easy to say but we're on the home straight now, last trimester.

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumEEEEK · 16/02/2014 10:32

Hi pickle :)

we've got bodysuits, vests etc and then my mum has just washed through all the cardis my nan knitted for me, my brother and sister, so baby will have some cardigans, so it'll probably be vest and cardi for the summer. And also my cousin has sent over loads of clothes apparently, as well as a baby carrier and a bouncy chair and lots of things (mostly pink so my mum said baby either has to be a girl or a boy with a taste for pink Grin ). I think we may be pretty much sorted for everything for the baby now! Just need to keep our fingers crossed that we get that flat to put it all in Grin

pickletalk14 · 16/02/2014 11:55

Thanks for the responses. .. sounds like everyone is having thr same dilemma. We don't know gender either which adds an extra unknown to the weather! Layers seems to be the answer and an early shopping trip if we need (also being optimistic here minions?!)

Have a relaxing Sunday. Sun is out here finally :-)

McBaby · 16/02/2014 11:58

Suddenly feeling very close to baby time .... The baby will arrive in 7-12 weeks time feeling very under prepared!

Bornin1984 · 16/02/2014 12:38

I am officially "nesting" all the curtains have been brought down

Bornin1984 · 16/02/2014 13:29

And off to the tip wth all the shit :-/

Xavielli · 16/02/2014 14:10

Welcome pickles re: outer layers - we won't be bothering with a coat etc. when we're outside they'll be in a car seat/buggy so will be covered with a blanket/cosy toes. My last April baby was in just her vests for the first 4 weeks, it was roasting!
